This document describes the typical responsibilities of a Discipline Engineer at Aker Solutions. The Discipline Engineer is responsible for performing assigned discipline activities and deliveries. Main tasks include ensuring knowledge of the project execution model, taking personal responsibility for health, safety and environment, obtaining detailed knowledge of the assigned scope of work, contributing to schedules and budgets, preparing reporting, and ensuring work is performed according to plans, budgets, and design basis within the assigned discipline activities. The Discipline Engineer is also responsible for developing functional design solutions that consider overall functionality, quality, safety, constructability and cost reduction.

DISCIPLINE ENGINEER - TYPICAL
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
The role holder is responsible for:
- Performance of assigned discipline activities and deliveries.
MAIN TASKS
The role holder shall on own initiative:
PROJECT EXECUTION MODEL:
- Ensure required personal PEM knowledge and participate in PEM
introduction/training as required.
ORGANISATION:
- Take personal responsibility for HSE by focusing on own behaviour.
- Participate in teambuilding activities within the discipline, as required.
SCOPE OF WORK / CONTRACT:
- Obtain detailed knowledge of the assigned scope of work.
PLANS AND BUDGETS:
- Contribute to establishment and maintenance of a document development schedule (Level 5) for assigned
activities.
REPORTING
- Prepare input to discipline reporting in accordance with project routines, for assigned scope of work.
- Report any change in scope of work to nearest superior.
- Report to Discipline Lead all matters of importance.
EXECUTION
- Ensure that work , within assigned discipline activities, is performed:
o in accordance with the project execution model.
o in accordance with the discipline schedule.
o within discipline budgets.
o with focus on Quality and HSE aspects.
o In accordance with established design basis.
- Ensure development of functional design solutions, within assigned discipline activities, where following
aspects are allowed for:
o overall method/system functionality & overall layout
o Quality and HSE aspects
o constructability & cost reduction
- Implement corrective actions as necessary / as agreed.
- Keep close contact with other disciplines, as required, to secure that chosen design solutions are in
accordance with agreement/ common understanding across disciplines for Scope of Work in assigned
discipline activities.
