Ivanov-Erickson Coming Home Analysis
April 29th, 2017 I attended a live performance at Marygrove college titled New heights. The
variations of styles and meaning behind the choreography kept me wanting more. While some acts
were very facile to comprehend, others bemused me, but all together it was prodigious. The
clothing, the background lights, the music, and the prosthetics brought the whole show together. I
was intrigued with every last performance that day.
As stated before the meaning behind some of the performances were not easy to understand. Such
as the first act Urgencia choreographed by Roger Jeffrey. Dressed in white leotards, the dancers
leaped, tumbled, and more all across the stage. But as I watched in amazement, I couldn t grasp the
meaning or the theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coming home (A mother s love) was an interesting combination of hip hop and contemporary.
Beginning with no music and a grieving mother in a church carrying a can of Arizona. Dressed
in a black dress and a black hat with a veil, you could distinguish the sorrow. Now when the other
dancer came out he was dressed in a gray hoodie and blue jeans.Right away I knew this was a
dedication to Trayvon Martin along with other black men who were murdered senselessly. It was
beautiful, with the lighting and music, I just couldn t stop gazing. Takin over was another
combination of hip hop and contemporary. The performers wore dark purple shorts and black
over tops. It was really cool to watch. In Kombat the two dancers were dressed in a knight
uniforms accompanied by fake swords and knight like helmets. The dance was marvelous with the
smoke, lighting, and the suspenseful music. At the end when the two battled and the knight
murders Chlorinda, not knowing it was her until she removed her helmet, was just heart
wrenching. Now Women of the water began with a woman talking about water and woman with
pictures of bodies of water, land, and women of divergent cultures. As the voice went off the
dances came out taking their place on stage. The dancers wore gray leotards along with dark
beige skirts. This dance contained many contract and release movements. I especially loved when
the dancers would form a circle and unfold just like a flower. The last piece was Danse Brilliante ,
was wonderful to watch. With the dancers dressed in light purple, blue and pink dresses while the
males wore all white along with dark beige vest. The bright lighting, the dance technique, and the
classical music brought the piece to

Maintaining The Blood Glucose Level ( Bgl )
Homeostasis is defined as the constant maintenance of internal equilibrium in order for the body
to function at a stable and optimal level. There are many different things the body has to
maintain and keep under control in order for this to happen and one of these is maintaining the
blood glucose level (BGL). Glucose is the preferred fuel source used in the human body. There
are several important cells and organs in the body that require a constant supply of glucose to
properly function, these include red blood cells and immune cells. The purpose of blood glucose
regulation is to keep the body in homeostasis because abnormal levels of glucose can manifest in
pathological conditions such as seizures, hypoglycaemic coma, diabetic ketoacidosos (DKA) and
possibly even death. The brain and the nervous system are the biggest consumers of circulating
glucose and are reliant on a constant supply to maintain optimal function. Failure to maintain BGL
within typical parameters 2.5 7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L or mM) will soon cause
complications within the body. This assignment will seek to give an overview of the homeostatic
system and its components, with emphasis on the regulation of BGL. The author will explore the
significance of this control system as well as the biochemical processes involved. Homeostatic
System The purpose of the homeostatic system as I previously mentioned is to maintain an internal
balance in the body. There are many examples of homeostasis in

Identifying The Perceived Destination Image Of New Zealand
Conclusion
The focus of this study was to identify the perceived destination image of New Zealand as revealed
in the travel blogs by Chinese tourists who have already visited the country. The approach used here
differs from the traditional types of methodology such as interviews and questionnaires, but instead
this study adopted a content analysis approach. A thorough literature review was first conducted at
the beginning of this study in attempt to understand what information is already established in
regards to destination image and what is important to Chinese tourists when they are planning their
travels and during their travels. The literature review identified a few attributes which are important
to Chinese tourists when they are travelling.
Literature Review
Through the literature review an academic article written by Law and Cheung (2010) which
examines how Mainland Chinese tourists perceived the destination of Hong Kong was reviewed.
The research objectives in Law and Cheungs article was similar to the research objectives of this
study therefore the content analysis methodology in Law and Cheungs article was adapted for this
study. Law and Cheung analysed blogs written by Chinese tourists using content analysis to
understand the perceive destination image of Hong Kong as revealed by Mainland Chinese
bloggers. Therefore, literature on social media and blogs was also reviewed and added into the
literature review. Methodology

The Causes Of Reconstruction In The American Civil War
After the North wins the Civil War the South was in ruins. Train tracks are demolished therefore
preventing supplies to be sent to the people living in the South, and hundreds of buildings have
collapsed. Thousands are dead or injured. Everyone knows what is coming next. Reconstruction has
just begun, but how long will it last? The Civil War ended in the year 1865 and because the North
won the war slavery was abolished. Amendments thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen have been ratified.
Amendment thirteen ended slavery. Amendment fourteen gave African Americans, American
citizenship and civil rights. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to deny someone the right to
vote based on race. (The DBQ Project 505). Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. A
terrorist group called the Ku Klux Klan(KKK) is a white supremacist group that was against
Reconstruction and freedom and civil rights for the African Americans. Information for this essay
was used from the newspapers Harper s Weekly, Independent Monitor, and the Boston Evening
Transcript. Through thinking the African Americans should not be in the government, paying more
attention to the government frauds than reconstruction, and the public opinion turning against
reconstruction, the North is responsible for killing reconstruction. Since the North did not want the
free slaves in their government conflicts arose and ended reconstruction. The blacks, as a people,
are unfitted for the proper exercise of

Essay on Stock Market and Paramount
Case Study Questions Paramount Communications Inc. 1993
Why a paramount is a takeover target?
Several Strategic Reasons
Cost reduction: through combinations of similar business and economy of scales
Sales increase: a) cross promotions of each company s brand and utilization of each company s
channels, and b) cooperation in international businesses.
2. Which of the two firms (Viacom or QVC) would make a better fit with Paramount?

7. Compare your valuation with Smith Barney s. What assumptions do you have to make to get the
terminal value EBITDA multiples used by Smith Barney. Is there any benefit of their method
relative to FCF method?
Smith Barney is using EBITDA of 14 to 16X. Since EBITDA multiple tends to revert to a certain
level over the year, we need to assume that the market will keep pricing the company at the same
level of 1993.
The merits of EBITDA multiples:
They don t need to assume the perpetual growth rate which is hard to calibrate but has substantial
impact on pricing.
They can ignore the capital structure change
Easier to understand (it is market consensus )
8. What doe 30% premium suggest? Is it reasonable?
30% of premium over the market price may be reasonable given;
a) control premium
b) the nature of takeover (it can be considered as Insider Trading , and to avoid litigation by
shareholders, an acquirer may need to pay premium)
c) consideration of synergies through a takeover.

Harriet Tubman s 5 Paragraph Essay
I have chosen to write a five paragraph essay about Harriet Tubman. I chose her because i was
really amazed over all the things she did, not just escaping the slavery herself, but she also went
back, risking her life, 19 times to help other slaves escape. Harriet was born in 1880, Dorchester
County, Maryland, USA. She got 93 years old and died in 1913 in New York. She was married
two times. The first time with John Tubman from 1844 to 1851, and the second time with
Nelson Davies from 1869 to his death in 1888. She adopted a girl named Gertie with her
husband Nelson Davies. During the civil war she was a nurse and a civil rights fighter. She
belonged to Christianity her whole life. Harriet had a rough life, but she managed to help over
300 people out of slavery including herself. She did always carry a gun, and she was not afraid
to use it. If the slaves agreed to escape, they wasn t allowed to go back. If they ever suggested to
go back, she pointed the gun against their head and said; You walk on, or die . There was this
time, a man who did not think they would get all the way to Canada and wanted to go back.
Harriet threatened him with a gun, and a few days later, he was still in the group when they
arrived to Canada. Harriet got known from her work for the... Show more content on

The United States Army And Selective Service Essay
The most hardworking people are usually the least recognized. They are generally the least paid as
well. There must be some sort of incentive for them to continually work so hard. The United States
Army has been the underdogs of the military branch. The United States Army is probably the
hardest working branch of the military, but also the least sought after. To the general public they
are not considered to be at the top of the spectrum amongst the other branches of military. The
government has helped in creating a bias within the branches of military by making the
standards to get into the military so low compared to some of the other branches. The Army
should be considered the People s Army. There is a pivotal point in life where as a man must
enroll in the selective service. That is a really scary point in life because it seems like there is a
chance to be selected in the military by draft. There is also entrance in the military by choice.
There is a percentage of Americans that willingly enter into the military coming straight out of
high school. Those Americans that willingly want to join the military are required to take a test
called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery or ASVAB as it is most commonly called.
That test acts as an entrance exam to every branch of the military, as well as what jobs you
qualify for once you pick a branch. The every year Americans shoot to make the highest score
possible in order to be apart of the more sought after branches

Blowout Fracture
Blowout Fracture: An Analysis on the Dimensions of the Injury There are many bones that
surround the eye and compose what is known as the orbit. The orbit is the part of the eye that
holds it in place. When a fracture of the bony framework of the orbit surrounding the eye (Prentice,
2016, p. 369) happens, a blowout fracture occurs. While blowout fractures can occur in different
areas of the orbit, the floor and medial wall are the two most common sites (Hur et al., 2015). The
dimensions of these fractures can vary depending on the mechanism of injury, size, and location
that the injury occurred.
Blowout fractures are most commonly caused by a blow to the face or the eye. This could be a
result from any type of trauma to the orbital bones, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision to observe a fracture or proceed with surgery is based on the clinical exam findings,
orbital imaging, and assessment of the risk and benefit of either option may also make a
decision to do surgery (Boyette et al., 2015, p. 230). One of their options is to prescribe the
patient with prophylactic antibiotics. These antibiotics will reduce the likelihood of infection,
which is caused by the interaction between the orbital floor and maxillary sinus (Prentice, 2016).
If symptoms persist, physicians will then decide whether or not surgery is necessary. One of the
most common indications that physicians need to move forward in the treatment process, is the
symptom of diplopia. If diplopia occurs, it is highly suggested that the patient moves forward and
undergoes surgical treatment. During a surgical repair, doctors will reconstruct the orbit of the
eye. The surgeon has different choices when it comes to the size of the implant they decide to use.
They may either use a large, single implant or multiple, tiny implants (Hur et al., 2015). Following
any type of a blowout fracture, the patient is not required to go through any type of rehabilitation.
Everyday activities, including chewing and facial expressions, serve as a natural form of

Sound Recording In Canada
Sound Recording in Canada, not regulated by the Government
Introduction
Sound recording was initially invented in 1857 by Edouard Leon Scott de Martinville. The
development of sound recording has gone through multiple stages to become what it is today. From
phonographs to magnetic tapes and further developments, sound recording has been used within the
music industry for ages. The government does not regulate the process of sound recording, however
conflicts regarding copyright infringements are present.
Brief History
An academic article written by Linda M. Fidler and William L. Schurk titled Sound Recording
Archives discusses the history of sound recording. During the 1960, the preservation of sound

Broadcasting is $14 billion industry that includes radio and television, as well as the distribution
services of cable, satellite, and, increasingly the Internet and mobile devices (Gasher, Skinner,
Lorimer 218). The Canadian government regulates broadcasting because it serves national,
cultural, and political goals (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 219). The reason for comparing
regulations between sound recording and broadcasting is the fact that a great proportion of radio
broadcasting is recorded music. There is a significant symbiosis between radio broadcast policy
and policies designed to encourage the production and dissemination of Canadian music (Gasher,
Skinenr, Lorimer 225). Radio broadcasters are required to have a license in order to broadcast
music through their channel. The Canadian Radio television and Telecommunications Commission
(CRTC) is in charge of issuing these licenses to broadcasters. Today, the CRTC s duties in the
broadcasting field include: issuing and renewing licenses, up to a maximum of seven years,
modifying existing license conditions, and suspending or revoking licenses (Gasher, Skinner,
Lorimer 221). It is evident that the use of sound recordings within the field of broadcasting is
strictly regulated. This further develops an idea that the sound recording industry will become
regulated within the future, as it is present in such a vast

Producers try to cast people with large personalities as this creates the most drama and they are

Ion Euripides
In Ion Euripides describes a realistic plot that matches nowadays events as well. He focuses on
the vicissitudes of human life that lead the characters to the brink of ruin, and that raise on top
of happiness at the same time. The life full of ups and downs is depicted in the example of
Creusa s life story. In Ion there are scenes that are composed of big fear, sincere repentance,
strong jealousy, and pure love of Creusa. When young and innocent Creusa has been deceived by
Apollo, she has to leave her newborn child on his fate under the big fear of being perceived as
disgraced daughter of the king Erechtheus. What has happened to her is the biggest secret that
she cannot tell anyone. This strong fear makes Creusa conceal the birth of her first baby, and her
liaison with Apollo. Having no will for that Creusa encumbers herself with that burden but stays
faithful wife of Xuthus who she will be espoused to after that event (Ion, 9 17, 58 62). The
second significant Creusa s emotion is her sincere repentance. Creusa consciously admits her
wrong decision of leaving the helpless child, and asks for forgiveness. Creusa considers her
inability to have children as her punishment for leaving that child alone in the cave. Her deep
rooted feeling of guiltiness never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Negative Effects Of Canadian Cinema
A nation s cultural texts are often used and appropriated in its quest for self definition.2 Canada s
national identity is a much debated topic and has often been conceptualized as a crisis, especially
through important cultural products like film. Canadian cinema bears a responsibility of reflecting
and creating a national identity, with blurred boundaries and a lack of coherent definition.
Negatives often seem to outweight positives; Canadian cinema, more prominently its English
industry, is considered amateurish and boring, and one bad Canadian filmtends to reflect on the
industry as a whole. These views often derive from Canadians themselves, and such self loathing
stances originate from a history of industrial and socio cultural effects,... Show more content on

Though such policies have arguably improved the state of the Canadian industry, many problems
still persist. Funding cuts began to take their toll on the industry in the mid 1990s, with the NFB
budget reduced by 4 million. Canadian box office figures are included as part of the American
domestic market, a fact that still remains true years later after the American vertical integration in
1927.22 The Canadian economic dependence on the American film industry, as will be discussed
in the second part of this essay, is one of the key obstructions of Canada s cinematic identity, as
well as its identity at large. The industrial context of Anglo Canadian cinema has heavily affected
the views that Canadians hold of themselves as they consume national films, but it goes the other
way as well; the collective films of a nation can reveal much about its collective consciousness,
acting as a metaphor for its state of mind.23 The second part of the essay will examine Canada s
insistence on comparing its films to Hollywood models due to the industrial contexts previously
mentioned, then reveal the problematic implications of defining Canada s identity in that

function, In a Stage 1 organization the operation is considered as a necessary evil . The other
functions, if they have anything to say at all about operations, regard it as holding them back
from competing effectively. The operations function, they would say, is inward looking and at
best reactive. It certainly has very little positive to contribute towards competitive success. It is
unlikely even to have developed its resources so as to be appropriate for the company s

operations are being ignored it is not holding the company back in any way. Certainly the rest of

Eighteenth Century English Literature
Chapter III: Eighteenth Century English Literature
LITERATURE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT
(18th century)
The 17th century was one of the most stormy periods of English history. The growing
contradictions between the new class, the bourgeoisie, and the old forces of feudalism brought
about the English Bourgeois Revolution in the 1640s. As a result of the revolution the king was
dethroned and beheaded and England was proclaimed a republic. Though very soon monarchy was
restored, the position of the bourgeoisie had changed.
The 18th century saw Great Britain rapidly growing into a capitalist country. It was an age of
intensive industrial development. New mills and manufactures appeared one after another. Small
towns grew into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such composition of the novel gave the author a chance to create an all embracing picture of the
18th century England, to write a comic epopee as Fielding himself called the novel.
Fielding also worked out the theory of the novel. In the introductory chapters to the eighteen parts
of The History of Tom Jones he put forward the main requirements that the novel should meet: to
imitate life, to show the variety of human nature, to expose the roots and causes of man s
shortcomings and to indicate the ways of overcoming them.
3. Late Enlightenment (Sentimentalism) (1750 1780).
The writers of this period, like the Enlighteners of the first two periods, expressed the democratic
bourgeois tendencies of their time. They also tried to find a way out of the difficulties of the
existing order. However, while their predecessors believed in the force of intellect, they considered
feelings (or sentiments) most important. The principal representatives of sentimentalism in the
genre of the novel were Oliver Goldsmith (The Vicar of Wakefield) and Lawrence Sterne (Tristram
Shandy, The Sentimental Journey) and in drama Richard Sheridan (School for Scandal and other
plays).

Essay about Ray Charles
Ray Charles
Ray Charles was a revolutionary pianist and a soul singer who helped shape the sound of rhythm
and blues. He brought a soulful sound to everything from country music to pop standards to God
Bless America. His birth name was Ray Charles Robinson, but he shortened it when he entered
show business to avoid confusion with the famous boxer Sugar Ray Robinson. I chose Ray Charles
as the topic for my paper after seeing the movie Ray. After viewing this film I realized that there
was a lot of interesting information about Ray Charles that I had never heard about. Therefore, the
focus of my paper is to learn who Ray Charles really was and to discuss his life and achievements.

During this time he started recording and achieved his first hit song in 1951. The song was
titled Baby, Let Me Hold Your Hand. When Charles first began singing many felt as though his
sound and piano playing resembled those of Nat King Cole and Charles Brown. Ray was quoted
saying, When I started to sing like myself as opposed to imitating Nat Cole, which I had done for
a while when I started singing like Ray Charles, it had this spiritual and churchy, this religious or
gospel sound. It had this holiness and preachy tone to it. It was very controversial. I got a lot of
criticism for it. (San Jose Mercury News, 1994) Charles soon became more innovative when he
realized that his first recordings were only skillful imitations of his heroes. After joining Atlantic
Records, Charles s sound became more and more original and found breaking. He took many
tunes from gospel music and put them to secular lyrics performed in front of a jazz lineup playing
R B with exceptionally tight arrangements. He sometimes even added a country music feel to
some of his arrangements for example in his version of Hank Snow s I m Moving On.
The Middle Years Do it right or don t do it at all. That comes from my mom. If there s something
I want to do, I m one of those people that won t be satisfied until I get it done. If I m trying to sing
something and I can t get it, I m going to keep at it until I get it where I want it.

Robert K. Merton s The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Get...
Matthew effect has different meaning in each field. For example, in sociology is the where the
rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Robert K. Merton states in his book Social Theory and
Social Structure In both its original and typical usage it is meant metaphorically to refer to
issues of fame or status but it may also be used literally to refer to cumulative advantage of
economic capital (Merton, 7) Matthew effect or the story of success can be the answer of same
question that many people might have. Why some people are more successful than others? The
answer couldn t be just their intelligence or hard working, as Malcolm Gladwell explains in his
book. There would be many more reasons to make a person successful. If we want to understand
that we shouldn t just research only about the person, also we need to spend more time and
research about everything around him such as culture, family, and their habit. One of Gladwell
mention in his book is about the hockey players. The players don t have same situation and
opportunities to be chosen in the team. It is hard to imagine the difference of the age for some
months will effect on the young student chance to be elected on the team. As well Barnsley in
Outliers argues that these kinds of skewed age distributions exist whenever three things happen:
selection, streaming, and differentiated experience. (Gladwell, 25) However, Gladwell named
many of the elements which will be effective such as date of birth, family, and

Compare And Contrast Roots And The Life Of Frederick Douglass
Imagine being stuck in chains for six months in your own filth and waste. For some slaves on

slavery, for they didn t have to go through that harsh journey. Both were common to try and
escape, few making it. Making the outcomes of Frederick Douglass, who wrote an
autobiography, and Kunta Kinte, from the movie Roots, different. While Roots and the
narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass have some similarities, the differences of their origins
and outcomes are more significant because that s what shaped them who they are. One
difference of the book and movie is how they started out becoming a slave. Kunta was a normal
boy, just becoming a man in his tribe, when he was taken prisoner. Frederick s mom was a slave
so he was just born into it, skipping the terrible middle passage. Kunta had it real hard on his
journey and even a man died right next to him. They tried to break free and almost succeeded

Pros And Cons Of King Cobra
The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger
than a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow
to record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages,
and there have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what
could happen. However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight,

That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling
amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so
injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can
flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight
snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand
up like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It
will fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of
itself. The mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To
conclude, many pieces of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the
mongoose would win, no contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing
mongoose. At this point, it is obvious that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to
engage in a fight, the mongoose would win because of all of its advantages. Now we all know
that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most

Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature
In the stories The Jewelry by Guy de Maupassant, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and The
Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the female characters are unequal and less
important than the men in society. The duties of women during this time period did not consist of
much more than seeing to her husband s needs and caring for the home and children. The authors
show the lack of independence women were allowed in the 1800s, especially in marriage. The
stories express women s cry for equality and their feelings of entrapment in their marriage. Each

In the midst of her grieving, Mrs. Mallard pictures the time that is to come, when she will be
able to make all of her own decisions and will be given the freedom to live her life as she pleases.
Suddenly, she feels relieved more than she is upset. She knew that she would weep again when
she saw the kind, tender hands folded in death...but she saw beyond that bitter moment a long
procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely (Booth 307). Her desire for
freedom overcame the despair of her husband s death. Chopin includes that Mrs. Mallard tried to

Essay on Music and It s Influence
Music and it s influence
It is no doubt that music has played a vital role in our society. Everything from loud, head banging
concerts to religious ceremonies have utilized the medium of music because of its awe inspiring
qualities. Music is basically the control of sound. We can control this sound by varying the pitch,
tempo, octaves, dynamics and so on. There are thousands of ways that we can use music and to
shape it to how we want to hear it. But how much has music influenced the way we think today?
Why is it so popular?
Music dates right back to the prehistoric eras where primitive instruments were constructed using
items like bone and wood. These primitive musicians would not have known many of the modern
terms such as octaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we see a film about a jungle, normally the soundtrack is composed of instruments like bongos or
shakers. This is because we instantly associate this sort of music with jungles and indigenous tribes.
So whilst some parts of the world stayed traditionalist, other parts were taking music to the next
step. Western cultures have used music for almost every aspect of life. Music was used for
entertainment, religion, war cries and important ceremonies. Some countries have unfortunately
lost their culture and heritage thanks to more developed countries trying to expand their empires. A
good example of this is when the indigenous Mexican people were murdered in their homeland by
the invading Spanish and replaced the traditional drums and flutes with more vibrant shakers and
trumpets. It is no doubt that the way upper countries have acted has greatly affected the distribution
of music worldwide.
I m sure you ll all agree when I say that music is changing very fast. It s either that or we keep
changing our tastes in music every five minutes which is far more probable. Today if someone
put on a record from just 10 20 years ago we d probably think of that music as being incredibly old

Crime in Urban America has been around for many years, it is atrocious and there are many
reasons why people commit these crimes. Crime is a big issue all around the world and while
there is more production of drugs and loss of jobs, the crime rate will continue to increase day by

poverty which causes the poor to adapt into a violent and aggressive behavior to which later

The environment of where a person was raised is another leading cause of crime. When someone
grows up in a place where they see all these bad things happening in their society it serves as a
role model to them and they adapt other people s actions. Growing up in a household where
somebody does not have parents or a guardian telling them what is right from wrong leads you to
do the unthinkable because they do not have any family direction showing you the right way to

of socialization or the way a child is taught how to act (Chemistry Web) Lack of faith causes a
person to think of violence as their only way to get attention. When someone has no religious

A narrative that describes a young girl s trails and tribulations while being an involuntary member
of the institution of slavery, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl attempts to open many eyes to
the world of slavery. The author, Harriet Jacobs, wishes those in north would do more to put a stop
to the destructive practice entitled slavery. As Jacobs states, slavery contains a de constructive force

involved (good and bad), this devilish smell carries the strength of hatred with it. I was
struggling alone in the powerful grasp of the demon Slavery; and the monster proved too strong
for me (Brent 54). Jacobs deems it necessary to gain emotional support from her reader by
writing in a way that allows her to draw sympathy from the reader. Kindling a flame of passion in
all who read this book, Jacobs attempts to light a fire under those who are not impartial to
slavery. Intended to spread to the North, this fire does not burn the skin, but torches the spirit.
One would call it a pilot light for freedom. Ripping apart families, slavery contains awful feelings
in association with it. The stripping of children from their mother s arms, the cries of a son for
his father, the tears a grandmother sheds for her lost brethren; all tear holes in the spirit and soul
of their victims. Jacobs knows the sympathy felt from one mother to another when a situation
involves losing a child. Knowing this and using it to appeal to readers, Harriet related to them
with a strong message of family. Slave families were not the only ones affected. That is why Mr.
And Mrs. Flint played such a grand role.

Contrasts of Fortunato and Montresor Edgar Allan Poe s short stories always attract our attention
by the images of murders, terrors, madmen, and mysteries. The Cast of Amontillado is Poe s
famous short story, which presents us a cold blooded murder and two persons with personality
flaws. This essay will make a contrast between the two characters by analyzing their characteristics
and their psychological changes as the plot develops in order to understand the theme of this story.
First, Fortunato and Montresor are different on their dress, educational backgrounds and
personalities. Their dress reveals their distinct features. Fortunato dresses himself as a clown: The
man wore motley. He had on a tight fitting parti striped... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is surprised to find the real Amontillado, but his astonishment does not last long. He is really
frightened by Montresor s behavior. First, he regains his consciousness completely and gives a
low moaning cry . When he finds out that Montresor intends to kill me, he is terrified and bursts
out a succession of loud and shrill screams . Fortunato is so terrified, helpless and desperate that
he has a mental breakdown and becomes insane. As for Montresor, he acts calmly from
beginning to end. First, he wants to take revenge on Fortunato and plots it carefully in order to
avoid the punishment. He knows his enemy very well, from Fortunato s interests to his
weakness, so he can easily kill Fortunato. During the process of murder, he is really calm and
controlled. Step by step, he lures Fortunato to his gloomy cellar and kills Fortunato. He works in a
place filled with bones and feels no terror. He even stops his labour just to hear Fortunato s cry with
more satisfaction . Though for a brief moment [he] hesitated, [he] trembled , he does not tremble for
guilt but for the worry that Fortunato may escape. After Montresor take the revenge successfully, he
feels satisfied and pleasant. The differences on their psychological changes create a terrified
atmosphere which makes readers suffocate. In conclusion, Poe characterizes Fortunato and
Montresor as contrasts by describing their dress, educational background, personalities and their
psychological changes.

History of TPM
TPM, a unique Japanese system of managerial expertise, was created in 1971, based on the PM
(preventive maintenance or productive maintenance) concept introduced from the United States in
the 1950s through the 1960s. Subsequently, in the 1970s through the 1980s, TPM gradually
developed as its remarkable achievements because recognized. TPM now permeates entire
company structures, every line of business, and all parts of the world; this is evidenced by a sharp
increase in the number of business establishments receiving PM awards based on TPM, the shift
from production sector TPM to company wide TPM, and the growing number of countries in which
TPM is practiced.

The Birth Control Pill
According to the Oxford American College Dictionary, power is the capacity or ability to direct
or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. In order to gain the most power
humanly possibly you do not have to be remembered, your action needs to be remembered. Power
is the ability to help others benefit out of an action. If given the opportunity to go back in time to
irrevocably alter the future, I would take the opportunity to invent the birth controlpill in advance of
time. During World War II U.S. soldiers were supplied with condoms, another way of birth
control, however it s less effective than other methods we have now, such as the pill. Harvard

From 1955 1965, 42% of Americans of reproductive age relied on condoms for birth control. In
Britain from 1950 1960, 60% of married couples used condoms (Condoms and Sponges).
Although the idea of this pill was before World War II, the pill was made available to the public
in 1960. If those using condoms were aware of the stronger ability the pill had over the condom,
the pill would have all power. Condom selling companies would try to overpower us with their
promotion during World War II but to prevent that we would use propaganda and allow the public
to see statics of being impregnated using these two methods. Although the FDA or allied soldiers
would want to ban this pill, mass pills would be made and distributed to all locals.
Some benefits of providing women with the pill would be less suffrage of children of unplanned
pregnancies. The greater use of the pill and evidence showing it works would possibly lead to a
different population throughout the world. The pill would definitely be not expensive to provide
for all.

would gain me the most power humanly possibly: not because I, myself am powerful, but because

Latin American Imperialism
During the late nineteenth century, liberals hoped to establish Latin America on a global scale by
modeling Europe and the United States. As a result, certain Latin American countries were able to
modernize itself. They had metropolises, telephones, and railroads. Urbanization granted Latin
America the ability to export tons of sugar, coffee, rubber, bananas, tobacco, and other goods. Latin
Americas massive export in goods during the 1880s led to what was known as the Great Export
Boom. This was the first time Latin America entered the global market; although this was a great
achievement, Latin American citizens were being exploited for their labor. As a result,
exploitation of Latin America established a new era referred as Neocolonialism. Today, it no
longer had the momentum to achieve economic prosperity as it once did before World War II; in
addition, Latin American countries are now classified as developing countries due to social and
political conflict deeply rooted in its society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the coffee consumed by the entire world; thus, it dominated the coffee industry. Cuba with its
sugar, Chile with its pure natural resources, and the smaller countries in Latin America were able
to boost its economy through the Great Export Boom. As a result, Latin America was able to

Jackie Robinson Speech
Have you ever had a life changing moment? Many individuals have faced life changing experiences
like Feng Ru in the Father of Chinese Aviation , like Jackie Robinson in I Never Had It Made , and
like Melba Pattillo Beals in Warriors Don t Cry.
Jackie Robinson was a very important man to American history because he was the first black
major league baseball player. Some might think it was easy for Jackie Robinson, but it was quite the
opposite. He received stacks of hate mail, threats to his family, and even some of his own
teammates didn t accept him, but he didn t stop trying. There were some good things that came with
this though, black people supported him with total loyalty and there were many kids and some

important person person to success in all of this as Jackie states Rachel was even more important
to my success. I know that every successful man is supposed to say that without his wife he could
never have accomplished success. It is gospel in my case. Rachel shared those difficult years that
led to this moment and helped me through all the days thereafter. She has been strong, loving,
gentle, and brave, never afraid to either criticize or comfort me.
Melba Pattillo Beals was one of the Arkansas Little Rock Nine on her first day of going to her
new school there were soldiers lined up to escort her to school as she states he next morning,
Wednesday, September 25, at 8 A.M., as we turned the corner near the Bateses home, I saw
them, about fifty uniformed soldiers of the 101st. Some stood still with their rifles at their sides,
while others manned the jeeps parked at the curb. Still other troops walked about holding walkie
talkies to their ears. as she also states I had heard all those newsmen say Screaming Eagle

There are many substances that are banned in the world of athletics. Almost no matter what
governing body you look at for a sports association the list of banned substances is the same. The
USADA, the NCAA, and WADA are the three largest organizations that I have found and all of
them bann the same substances. There list include, but are not limited too stimulants, anabolic
agents, beta blockers, diuretics and other masking agents, growth factors, street drugs, and anything
chemically related to items on the list. It also continued into procedures that it considered illegal

placed on the banned substance list. The common effects of almost any street drug is it gives a
feeling of euphoria, and also makes that person feel invincible, which are the side effects that
make people like them. They also cause nausea and vomiting, the failure to recognize injury, and
eventually your body develops a dependence on them. One of the specific street drugs I m gonna
mention is marijuana. While it s not viewed as a hard drug it still has side effects that people can
either view as fun or dangerous. These side effects impair short term memory, increased heart rate,
difficulty concentrating, and slowed reflexes. It also causes mood swings and impairs
comprehensive thinking ( Effects of Performance Enhancers 2014). These side effects happen very
quickly due to how marijuana is usually introduced to a person system. The reason it acts so
quickly is explained on the National Institute on Drug Abuse website, When a person smokes
marijuana, THC quickly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream. The blood carries the chemical

National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is an independent federal agency provided with the
power to preserve the rights employees have to organize and to remedy violations if so called for.
In addition, the agency was tasked with the prevention of unfair labor practices committed by
private sector employers and unions. The National Industrial Recovery Act initiated the NLRB,
which protected joint bargaining rights for unions. President Franklin D. Roosevelt later established
the National Labor Board that initiated 20 regional boards that handled the massive caseload, that

upon cases of unfair labor. The board is compromised of more than thirty regional offices that

Proprietary Technologies Vs. Infrastructural Technology
Proprietary technologies vs. Infrastructural technology
Proprietary technologies can be owned, actively and effectively, at times by a single company. For
instance, a pharmaceutical holding a patent on a particular compound that is the basis for a drug is
an example of proprietary technologies. Infrastructural technology on the other hand provides more
value when shared rather than used by a single organization. A company having all the rights to
building railroads is an example of Infrastructural technology. This company can operate efficiently,
but the effect to the economy is greater if the technology is shared and companies build railroads
that can connect more buyers and sellers. Holding proprietary technologies, according to ... Show

In fact, IT is nothing like transport or electricity, and according to Ben Bernanke, we are in the
early days of the IT revolution as computing speed and memory continue to increase we ve only
scratch the surface3.
Carr s reasons why IT is a Commodity
IT, according to Carr, has become affordable to all and therefore, it has been a commodity. He
further argues that the use commodities do not lead to a completive advantage, and believes that IT
has become commoditized for the following reasons:
IT is highly replicable
The arrival of the internet has accelerated the its commoditization
IT is subject to rapid price deflation
I agree with Carr s assessment on the commoditization of IT to some degree. For instance, it
makes no sense for an organization to spend money in customizing a product when a similar
product can be bought at a relatively good price. Organizations no longer write their application,
they simple buy one that is available in the market (e,g. Microsoft Office).
I do not agree with Carr when he states that organizations such as IBM and Microsoft recognize
this trend and have position themselves as IT utilities companies as more companies replace
customized application with generic ones. That the internet has increased the commoditization of
IT by providing a perfect delivery channel for generic applications and more and more organization
will obtain their IT requirement by purchasing fee based web services

Atticus Finch Social Class
Social class differentiations show themselves throughout Harper Lee s classic Southern drama To
Kill a Mockingbird. Yet still people find themselves asking: Why is the caste system so prevalent in
Maycomb, Alabama? After all, the division of the classes continues as an important issue in our
lives today. From the mistreatment of the Untouchables in modern day India to the mistreatment of
Helen Robinson by the Ewell family, individuals want answers on why some humans think that they
should receive elevated status among others. The reason is that people willingly discard all
common sense to reach a conclusion that they think sounds right to them. This social hierarchy
appears in the Finch, Cunningham, and Ewell families. The Finches are a respected family near
the top of the social food chain in Maycomb. Despite the fact that they have many things compared
to many other people in their hometown, Atticus considers them poor. Are we poor, Atticus?
Atticus nodded. We are indeed (21). This may be because, though they are not as poor as the
Cunninghams, Atticus is attempting to blend the social classes together, and trying to make it less
of a big deal. This shows that the Finches are not the kind of people who exalt themselves above
others, even though they may hold a higher... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Marriage Proposal in Pride and Prejudice
Marriage Proposal in Pride and Prejudice
During Pride and Prejudice there are six examples of marriage proposals to consider. Throughout

time, Mr Collins and Lizzie, Mr Collins and Charlotte as well as Mr
Bingley and Jane, Wickham and Lydia and the second proposal of Mr
Darcy to Lizzie. Whilst looking at these proposals I will also be analysing the aspects of Love,
Money, the relative status and class and the views of others, which might have influence within
these proposals. The first proposal I am going to analyse is Mr Darcy to Lizzie. Mr

upon them because Lizzie is so beneath him he assumes that Lizzie will have no other option but
to accept his proposal as he feels that she can t resist him as he has enough money and class to set
her up for life. Mr Darcy says to Lizzie.
In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings for you cannot be repressed. You must allow
me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.
However to Mr Darcy s surprise Lizzie refuses his proposal as she will only marry for love and she
doesn t love Mr Darcy and she also is outraged with Mr Darcy at the insults towards her family. Just
before the proposal Lizzie also found out that Mr Darcy had separated her sister and her love, Mr
Bingley by persuading him to move back to
London, which infuriates Lizzie even more. Lizzie says to Mr Darcy.
You are mistaken, Mr Darcy, if you suppose that he mode of your declaration affected me in any
other way, than as it spared me the concern which I might have felt in refusing you, had you
behaved in a more gentlemen like manner.
This quotation showed how much Lizzie really despised him at that moment in time by questioning
his gentlemen like manner, which was a big thing for men in those days.
The second proposal I am going to look at is Mr Collin s to Lizzie. Mr
Collin s proposed to Lizzie at Longbourne, the family estate. Mr

  • 2. Ivanov-Erickson Coming Home Analysis April 29th, 2017 I attended a live performance at Marygrove college titled New heights. The variations of styles and meaning behind the choreography kept me wanting more. While some acts were very facile to comprehend, others bemused me, but all together it was prodigious. The clothing, the background lights, the music, and the prosthetics brought the whole show together. I was intrigued with every last performance that day. As stated before the meaning behind some of the performances were not easy to understand. Such as the first act Urgencia choreographed by Roger Jeffrey. Dressed in white leotards, the dancers leaped, tumbled, and more all across the stage. But as I watched in amazement, I couldn t grasp the meaning or the theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coming home (A mother s love) was an interesting combination of hip hop and contemporary. Beginning with no music and a grieving mother in a church carrying a can of Arizona. Dressed in a black dress and a black hat with a veil, you could distinguish the sorrow. Now when the other dancer came out he was dressed in a gray hoodie and blue jeans.Right away I knew this was a dedication to Trayvon Martin along with other black men who were murdered senselessly. It was beautiful, with the lighting and music, I just couldn t stop gazing. Takin over was another combination of hip hop and contemporary. The performers wore dark purple shorts and black over tops. It was really cool to watch. In Kombat the two dancers were dressed in a knight uniforms accompanied by fake swords and knight like helmets. The dance was marvelous with the smoke, lighting, and the suspenseful music. At the end when the two battled and the knight murders Chlorinda, not knowing it was her until she removed her helmet, was just heart wrenching. Now Women of the water began with a woman talking about water and woman with pictures of bodies of water, land, and women of divergent cultures. As the voice went off the dances came out taking their place on stage. The dancers wore gray leotards along with dark beige skirts. This dance contained many contract and release movements. I especially loved when the dancers would form a circle and unfold just like a flower. The last piece was Danse Brilliante , was wonderful to watch. With the dancers dressed in light purple, blue and pink dresses while the males wore all white along with dark beige vest. The bright lighting, the dance technique, and the classical music brought the piece to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Maintaining The Blood Glucose Level ( Bgl ) Homeostasis is defined as the constant maintenance of internal equilibrium in order for the body to function at a stable and optimal level. There are many different things the body has to maintain and keep under control in order for this to happen and one of these is maintaining the blood glucose level (BGL). Glucose is the preferred fuel source used in the human body. There are several important cells and organs in the body that require a constant supply of glucose to properly function, these include red blood cells and immune cells. The purpose of blood glucose regulation is to keep the body in homeostasis because abnormal levels of glucose can manifest in pathological conditions such as seizures, hypoglycaemic coma, diabetic ketoacidosos (DKA) and possibly even death. The brain and the nervous system are the biggest consumers of circulating glucose and are reliant on a constant supply to maintain optimal function. Failure to maintain BGL within typical parameters 2.5 7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L or mM) will soon cause complications within the body. This assignment will seek to give an overview of the homeostatic system and its components, with emphasis on the regulation of BGL. The author will explore the significance of this control system as well as the biochemical processes involved. Homeostatic System The purpose of the homeostatic system as I previously mentioned is to maintain an internal balance in the body. There are many examples of homeostasis in ... Identifying The Perceived Destination Image Of New Zealand Conclusion The focus of this study was to identify the perceived destination image of New Zealand as revealed in the travel blogs by Chinese tourists who have already visited the country. The approach used here differs from the traditional types of methodology such as interviews and questionnaires, but instead this study adopted a content analysis approach. A thorough literature review was first conducted at the beginning of this study in attempt to understand what information is already established in regards to destination image and what is important to Chinese tourists when they are planning their travels and during their travels. The literature review identified a few attributes which are important to Chinese tourists when they are travelling. • 5. The Causes Of Reconstruction In The American Civil War After the North wins the Civil War the South was in ruins. Train tracks are demolished therefore preventing supplies to be sent to the people living in the South, and hundreds of buildings have collapsed. Thousands are dead or injured. Everyone knows what is coming next. Reconstruction has just begun, but how long will it last? The Civil War ended in the year 1865 and because the North won the war slavery was abolished. Amendments thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen have been ratified. Amendment thirteen ended slavery. Amendment fourteen gave African Americans, American citizenship and civil rights. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to deny someone the right to vote based on race. (The DBQ Project 505). Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. A terrorist group called the Ku Klux Klan(KKK) is a white supremacist group that was against Reconstruction and freedom and civil rights for the African Americans. Information for this essay was used from the newspapers Harper s Weekly, Independent Monitor, and the Boston Evening Transcript. Through thinking the African Americans should not be in the government, paying more attention to the government frauds than reconstruction, and the public opinion turning against reconstruction, the North is responsible for killing reconstruction. Since the North did not want the free slaves in their government conflicts arose and ended reconstruction. The blacks, as a people, are unfitted for the proper exercise of ... • 8. Harriet Tubman s 5 Paragraph Essay I have chosen to write a five paragraph essay about Harriet Tubman. I chose her because i was really amazed over all the things she did, not just escaping the slavery herself, but she also went back, risking her life, 19 times to help other slaves escape. Harriet was born in 1880, Dorchester County, Maryland, USA. She got 93 years old and died in 1913 in New York. She was married two times. The first time with John Tubman from 1844 to 1851, and the second time with Nelson Davies from 1869 to his death in 1888. She adopted a girl named Gertie with her husband Nelson Davies. During the civil war she was a nurse and a civil rights fighter. She belonged to Christianity her whole life. Harriet had a rough life, but she managed to help over 300 people out of slavery including herself. She did always carry a gun, and she was not afraid to use it. If the slaves agreed to escape, they wasn t allowed to go back. If they ever suggested to go back, she pointed the gun against their head and said; You walk on, or die . There was this time, a man who did not think they would get all the way to Canada and wanted to go back. Harriet threatened him with a gun, and a few days later, he was still in the group when they arrived to Canada. Harriet got known from her work for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The United States Army And Selective Service Essay The most hardworking people are usually the least recognized. They are generally the least paid as well. There must be some sort of incentive for them to continually work so hard. The United States Army has been the underdogs of the military branch. The United States Army is probably the hardest working branch of the military, but also the least sought after. To the general public they are not considered to be at the top of the spectrum amongst the other branches of military. The government has helped in creating a bias within the branches of military by making the standards to get into the military so low compared to some of the other branches. The Army should be considered the People s Army. There is a pivotal point in life where as a man must enroll in the selective service. That is a really scary point in life because it seems like there is a chance to be selected in the military by draft. There is also entrance in the military by choice. There is a percentage of Americans that willingly enter into the military coming straight out of high school. Those Americans that willingly want to join the military are required to take a test called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery or ASVAB as it is most commonly called. That test acts as an entrance exam to every branch of the military, as well as what jobs you qualify for once you pick a branch. The every year Americans shoot to make the highest score possible in order to be apart of the more sought after branches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Blowout Fracture Blowout Fracture: An Analysis on the Dimensions of the Injury There are many bones that surround the eye and compose what is known as the orbit. The orbit is the part of the eye that holds it in place. When a fracture of the bony framework of the orbit surrounding the eye (Prentice, 2016, p. 369) happens, a blowout fracture occurs. While blowout fractures can occur in different areas of the orbit, the floor and medial wall are the two most common sites (Hur et al., 2015). The dimensions of these fractures can vary depending on the mechanism of injury, size, and location that the injury occurred. Blowout fractures are most commonly caused by a blow to the face or the eye. This could be a result from any type of trauma to the orbital bones, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The decision to observe a fracture or proceed with surgery is based on the clinical exam findings, orbital imaging, and assessment of the risk and benefit of either option may also make a decision to do surgery (Boyette et al., 2015, p. 230). One of their options is to prescribe the patient with prophylactic antibiotics. These antibiotics will reduce the likelihood of infection, which is caused by the interaction between the orbital floor and maxillary sinus (Prentice, 2016). If symptoms persist, physicians will then decide whether or not surgery is necessary. One of the most common indications that physicians need to move forward in the treatment process, is the symptom of diplopia. If diplopia occurs, it is highly suggested that the patient moves forward and undergoes surgical treatment. During a surgical repair, doctors will reconstruct the orbit of the eye. The surgeon has different choices when it comes to the size of the implant they decide to use. They may either use a large, single implant or multiple, tiny implants (Hur et al., 2015). Following any type of a blowout fracture, the patient is not required to go through any type of rehabilitation. Broadcasting is $14 billion industry that includes radio and television, as well as the distribution services of cable, satellite, and, increasingly the Internet and mobile devices (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 218). The Canadian government regulates broadcasting because it serves national, cultural, and political goals (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 219). The reason for comparing regulations between sound recording and broadcasting is the fact that a great proportion of radio broadcasting is recorded music. There is a significant symbiosis between radio broadcast policy and policies designed to encourage the production and dissemination of Canadian music (Gasher, Skinenr, Lorimer 225). Radio broadcasters are required to have a license in order to broadcast music through their channel. The Canadian Radio television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is in charge of issuing these licenses to broadcasters. Today, the CRTC s duties in the broadcasting field include: issuing and renewing licenses, up to a maximum of seven years, modifying existing license conditions, and suspending or revoking licenses (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 221). It is evident that the use of sound recordings within the field of broadcasting is strictly regulated. The life full of ups and downs is depicted in the example of Creusa s life story. In Ion there are scenes that are composed of big fear, sincere repentance, strong jealousy, and pure love of Creusa. When young and innocent Creusa has been deceived by Apollo, she has to leave her newborn child on his fate under the big fear of being perceived as disgraced daughter of the king Erechtheus. Negatives often seem to outweight positives; Canadian cinema, more prominently its English industry, is considered amateurish and boring, and one bad Canadian filmtends to reflect on the industry as a whole. Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature In the stories The Jewelry by Guy de Maupassant, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the female characters are unequal and less important than the men in society. The duties of women during this time period did not consist of much more than seeing to her husband s needs and caring for the home and children. The authors show the lack of independence women were allowed in the 1800s, especially in marriage. The stories express women s cry for equality and their feelings of entrapment in their marriage. • 32. Essay on Music and It s Influence Music and it s influence It is no doubt that music has played a vital role in our society. Everything from loud, head banging concerts to religious ceremonies have utilized the medium of music because of its awe inspiring qualities. Music is basically the control of sound. We can control this sound by varying the pitch, tempo, octaves, dynamics and so on. There are thousands of ways that we can use music and to shape it to how we want to hear it. But how much has music influenced the way we think today? Why is it so popular? Music dates right back to the prehistoric eras where primitive instruments were constructed using items like bone and wood. If we see a film about a jungle, normally the soundtrack is composed of instruments like bongos or shakers. This is because we instantly associate this sort of music with jungles and indigenous tribes. So whilst some parts of the world stayed traditionalist, other parts were taking music to the next step. Western cultures have used music for almost every aspect of life. Music was used for entertainment, religion, war cries and important ceremonies. Some countries have unfortunately lost their culture and heritage thanks to more developed countries trying to expand their empires. A good example of this is when the indigenous Mexican people were murdered in their homeland by the invading Spanish and replaced the traditional drums and flutes with more vibrant shakers and trumpets. It is no doubt that the way upper countries have acted has greatly affected the distribution of music worldwide. I m sure you ll all agree when I say that music is changing very fast. It s either that or we keep changing our tastes in music every five minutes which is far more probable. Today if someone put on a record from just 10 20 years ago we d probably think of that music as being incredibly old or very simple. Carr s reasons why IT is a Commodity IT, according to Carr, has become affordable to all and therefore, it has been a commodity. He further argues that the use commodities do not lead to a completive advantage, and believes that IT has become commoditized for the following reasons: IT is highly replicable The arrival of the internet has accelerated the its commoditization IT is subject to rapid price deflation I agree with Carr s assessment on the commoditization of IT to some degree. For instance, it makes no sense for an organization to spend money in customizing a product when a similar product can be bought at a relatively good price. Organizations no longer write their application, they simple buy one that is available in the market (e,g. Microsoft Office). I do not agree with Carr when he states that organizations such as IBM and Microsoft recognize this trend and have position themselves as IT utilities companies as more companies replace customized application with generic ones. That the internet has increased the commoditization of IT by providing a perfect delivery channel for generic applications and more and more organization will obtain their IT requirement by purchasing fee based web services ... • 54. Atticus Finch Social Class Social class differentiations show themselves throughout Harper Lee s classic Southern drama To Kill a Mockingbird. Yet still people find themselves asking: Why is the caste system so prevalent in Maycomb, Alabama? After all, the division of the classes continues as an important issue in our lives today. From the mistreatment of the Untouchables in modern day India to the mistreatment of Helen Robinson by the Ewell family, individuals want answers on why some humans think that they should receive elevated status among others. The reason is that people willingly discard all common sense to reach a conclusion that they think sounds right to them. This social hierarchy appears in the Finch, Cunningham, and Ewell families. The Finches are a respected family near the top of the social food chain in Maycomb. Despite the fact that they have many things compared to many other people in their hometown, Atticus considers them poor. Are we poor, Atticus? Atticus nodded. We are indeed (21). This may be because, though they are not as poor as the Cunninghams, Atticus is attempting to blend the social classes together, and trying to make it less of a big deal. This shows that the Finches are not the kind of people who exalt themselves above others, even though they may hold a higher... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout this essay I am going to be commenting on the proposals between Mr Darcy and Lizzie the first time, Mr Collins and Lizzie, Mr Collins and Charlotte as well as Mr Bingley and Jane, Wickham and Lydia and the second proposal of Mr Darcy to Lizzie. Whilst looking at these proposals I will also be analysing the aspects of Love, Money, the relative status and class and the views of others, which might have influence within these proposals. The first proposal I am going to analyse is Mr Darcy to Lizzie. Mr Darcy proposed to Lizzie in Kent at Mr Collins and Charlotte s house when Lizzie was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr Darcy gets to a stage where he cant avoid his feelings for Lizzie anymore so he decides to act upon them because Lizzie is so beneath him he assumes that Lizzie will have no other option but to accept his proposal as he feels that she can t resist him as he has enough money and class to set her up for life. Mr Darcy says to Lizzie. In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings for you cannot be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you. However to Mr Darcy s surprise Lizzie refuses his proposal as she will only marry for love and she doesn t love Mr Darcy and she also is outraged with Mr Darcy at the insults towards her family. Just before the proposal Lizzie also found out that Mr Darcy had separated her sister and her love, Mr Bingley by persuading him to move back to London, which infuriates Lizzie even more. Lizzie says to Mr Darcy. You are mistaken, Mr Darcy, if you suppose that he mode of your declaration affected me in any other way, than as it spared me the concern which I might have felt in refusing you, had you behaved in a more gentlemen like manner. This quotation showed how much Lizzie really despised him at that moment in time by questioning his gentlemen like manner, which was a big thing for men in those days. The second proposal I am going to look at is Mr Collin s to Lizzie. Mr Collin s proposed to Lizzie at Longbourne, the family estate. Mr Collins was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
