A Letter About Fice Essay
Walking into the office, Carrie noticed that everyone seemed tense. She walked to Melissa s
desk, an old friend and coworker, and stated, What s going on? Why does everyone look so
agitated? she said in a low voice. We re about to have a meeting again because of someone else s
mistake, Melissa replied, biting on her lip. What happened? . Well, Jerry wrote a letter venting
about the Boss, and he made a mistake and sent it to him. What! , Carrie stated. He didn t try to
send it to him. His intent was to send it to Maggie, but he sent it to the Boss instead. And it gets
worst Maggie was also talking about leaving the company as well in the letter. Carrie shook her
head as they walked into the meeting. As the conference started the Boss began to speak in a
manner that no adult should talk to another. He screamed and sculled at everyone when they had
nothing to do with the incident. By the time the meeting was over many were talking about leaving
the company. Some stated that the way he communicated with them was very unprofessional, and
they felt disrespected. Others stated they were going to file complaints. Personally, I don t think the
Boss handled himself in a professional way. As a leader you must know the role of communication
and effective leadershipotherwise, you will lose your best workers.
Today there are so many methods of communicating with one. You have the ability to use the
internet, phone, handwriting, letter, and the traditional face to face

How To Write An Essay On The Oj Simpson Trial
The day was June 12, 1994 and only a few people would know that it would become a very
important day in United States history. Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman are stabbed
in Simpson s Los Angeles home. Nicole Brown was the ex wife of NFL superstar O.J. Simpson.
O.J. came home the day after the murderand he found the policewaiting for him and they placed
him under temporary arrest. The next day OJ was at his attorney s house and knowing he would
be arrested fairly shortly, he rode off in his Ford White Bronco and caused what would be known
one of the greatest police chases of all time. He would be arrested and would be put to a trial. This
would only be the beginning of a very important trial. The trail promptly began on January 24, 1995
with prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden deliver opening statements for the
prosecution. The judge presiding over the case was Lance Ito. The next day Johnnie Cochran
delivered the opening statement for the defense. The trial would continue for over 10 months, and

Hamlet relies on religion when he has to make decisions. But two months dead: nay, not so

but when she remarried not long after his death it makes Hamlets father seem unimportant. Pi
tries to keep all faith when lost at sea. I practiced religious rituals that I adapted to the
circumstances Sometimes my heart was sinking so fast with anger, desolation and weariness, I
was afraid it would sink to the very bottom of the Pacific and I would not be able to lift it back

sadness he feels. In Rabbit, Run when Rebecca is buried at the end, Rabbit has some sort of faith.
Updike mentions Rabbit s chest vibrates with excitement and strength: he is sure his girl has
ascended to Heaven. It seems that the loss of his child may have given him some recovery for his
own immoralities. Whether you have faith or not, something has to give you strength in a time of

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Essays
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) are one of the major causes
of death in the United States, frequently in teenagers. Some of these sexual transmitted diseases
do not have a cure and many others, if not treated properly, can lead to very serious
complications as cancer. Quantities of the most common types of STD s are viral, bacterial, and
parasitic animals. A virus in order to survive needs a living cell within which to replicate. Some
viruses can survive outside the host cell but they cannot grow or reproduce. Viruses have genes
made of DNA or RNA that allow them to make copies of themselves. The virus uses the cell s
machinery and some of the cell s enzymes to continue reproducing until the cell is... Show more

Genital Warts are often asymptomatic meaning that often there are no symptoms. On the other
hand they can cause warts in the genital areas in women and men. In women, genital warts can
occur on the vulva perianal area, vagina, and cervix. In men, genital warts can appear on the tip
or shaft of the penis, urethra, scrotum, and perianal area. (Aldara) Warts can also develop in the
mouth of a person who has had oral sex with an infected individual. The warts often appear in
groups and they can be so small that doctors need a magnifying glass or microscope to see them.
The infection may produce itching, burning, and pain during sex. There is no cure for Genital
Warts. The visible genital warts are frequently removed by surgery, laser, freezing, and burning.
Factors that might influence selection of treatment include size, location, and number of warts,
changes in the warts, patient preference, cost of treatment, convenience, adverse effects, and
provider experience. (3M pharmaceuticals) Even though treatment can eliminate warts, it does not
destroy the virus. There is a connection between HPV and the development of several types of
cancer, such as the cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, anal cancer, and cancer of the penis. This is the
reason why symptoms should not be ignored and if a person believes that he/she has an HPV
infection he/she should look for professional help immediately. Chlamydia is a sexual

Sir Isaac Newton s Scientific Revolution
Sir Isaac Newton, one of the leading figures of the scientific revolution, discovered numerous
fundamental laws of physics. Here s the catch he started discovering them at just 23 years old! Isaac
Newton s scientific work throughout the 17th century impacted the modern world with a turning
point in history that would change the way we deal with modern science and mathematics. Isaac
Newtonis often referred to as the father of science, an honorary name. Newton s work has greatly
impacted not only the ways we study and use science, but our everyday lives as well. For example,
Newton also discovered the laws of motion (force, inertia, reaction), gravity, and light s components.
His work was studied using experiments that questioned the natural world and tested hypotheses.
His system of calculus showed extreme thinking and high intelligence. Newton s life and work is
one of the most predominant turning points of the Scientific Revolution and the mathematical
pursuit of knowledge, including his laws of physics, experimentation that can be repeated,
predicted, and verified today, and the anticipation, development, and rigorization of calculus.
The new knowledge presented and demonstrated by Isaac Newton in the 17th century includes
motion (force, inertia, reaction), universal gravity, and even the principles of how light works, all
key elements of physics. Newton, like all physicists, developed and used equations to support and
demonstrate his hypotheses. His equations and laws

The Emergency Department At Saint Vincent s Medical Center
Introduction Every day in the United States there are 136.3 million people that visit the emergency
department (CDC, 2015). To put this number into perspective that is 44.5 people per 100 persons
(CDC, 2015). 11.9% of these visits result in hospital admission leaving 88.1% of visits to be
discharged home with or without caregiver assistance or to another healthcare facility (CDC, 2015).
While high numbers of patients being discharged is desirable, it is important to consider that In one
out of every 30 discharges things get missed. [For example] patients [are] sent home who didn t
know how to use their insulin or they got the wrong prescription (Maguire, 2011). Another
important statistic to recognize is that Ninety million Americans have difficulty understanding their
own medical care (McCarthy et al., 2012). Similar adverse events and misunderstandings of medical
care have been occurring in the emergency departmentat Saint Vincent s Medical Center in
Bridgeport, Connecticut a 60 bed emergency department with a fast track zone that is classified as a
level one trauma center. The nurse manager of the emergency department at Saint Vincent s stated
that many patients were not being adequately educated during discharge. She placed most of the
blame on the nurses as it is the nurse s responsibility to be educating and providing all patients with
clear and concise discharge instructions. As of right now, most emergency departments do not have

An Ironic, Witty Short Story by Guy de Maupassant, The...
Guy de Maupassant is considered to be one of the fathers of short stories, he is a French author
who lived in the 19th century. Born in 1850 at the Chateau de Miromesnil in France, to a lone
literary mother who passed on her passion for books to Guy. The author s writing style is
characterized by economy of style, brilliant irony and elegant denouement. Maupassant wrote over
300 short stories, six novels, three travel books, and a volume of verse. Maupassant incorporated
genres such as realism and naturalism within his works and his first published story; Boule de Suif
(ball of fat) is considered by many as being his masterpiece.

Mathilde is not portrayed as being characteristic of the Petite Bourgeoisie due to being contrasted
with her cherishing husband who falls within the same social class. Madame Loisel is more of a
satirical representation of the Petite Bourgeoisie , I think Maupassant mocks her as a stereotypical
diva rather than uses her to depict the social class.
Exquisite but worthless, the necklace illustrates the puissance of perception and the breach
between appearance and actuality. In the story, Madame Loisel borrows the necklace from her
intimate idol Madame Forestier, with intention as to insinuate wealth. Madame Forestier hides
the fact that the necklace is a fake she too wants to impress her peer and paint the illusion of
being more affluent than she truly is. Due to Mathilde being profoundly jealous of Madame
Forestier, she never suspects the necklace s legitimacy and blindly assumes the necklace is made
of diamonds. Madame Loisel willingly plunders into this world of hypocrisy, as she whole heartily
believes in her borrowed opulence; she projects an appearance of abundance to others. Because she
believes in her wealth, she becomes wealthy in the eyes of others. The fact that the necklace is the
focal point of the beguilement that triggers of Mathilde s social collapse implies nothing but trouble
can result from obscuring the truth of one s situation.
The bitter irony of the fact that Monsieur and Madame Loisel spent years

How Does Jake Dale s Change In Avatar
In James Cameron s film Avatar, the protagonist, Jake Sully, undergoes a change throughout the
narrative, this being from an apathetic soldier to person who thinks about and cares for the
world around him. Jake is important to us because he allows us to understand the dangers of our
actions. This idea is represented to us through characterisation and dialogue. At the start of the
film Jake Sully arrived on Pandora searching for a purpose in his life. He states early in the movie
saying all I ever wanted was a single thing worth fighting for . This shows that he only accepted the
job because he wanted to experience something new and have something to live for.

goal and output on Pandora which is an attempt to destroy the na vis worth. As he trains with
Netaryi, the princess of the omiticaya clan and the trainer and lover towards Jake , he starts to

this in the middle of the film during his training to be like the Na vi as he says in english and in

Comparing Byzantine And Western Culture
The two halves shared some similarities and one of them was the form of entertainment that
occurred in their culture. The Roman Empire and Byzantine cherished watching gladiator fights as
well as chariot races at the big stadiums. In Rome they watched at the coliseum while in Byzantine
the watching was done at Circus Maximus.
Both the Western and the Eastern halves considered themselves Roman s even though Eastern
Rome was greatly influenced by Greek Culture. However, the Eastern half has its headquarters in
Constantinople city and not Rome. The end of the late antiquity marked the split of the Roman
Empire into two, i.e. Western Rome and Eastern Rome. The former mainly spoke Latin while the
latter spoke Geek. The Western Rome was less densely

Explain How Has The Extraction Of Copper Changed The...
How has the extraction of copper changed the course of history? Copper (Chemical symbol Cu,
Atomic number 29), is one of the best electrical conductors in all metals, has influenced the use of
telecommunications throughout the world. We rely on copper for a lot of things power, heating,
lighting, transport, communication, and even coinage. The wide application of copper in our daily
lives has made our homes, schools and businesses pleasant, decorative and efficient but also has
created negative impacts in our environment. Copper is usually extracted from sulphide ores such
as Chalcopyrite. Since these ores contain low amounts of copper, they have to be concentrated
through froth flotation before refining. The sulphate ore is first mined underground, and then
bought to the surface to be crushed. Pine oil is then applied to the crushed copper ores, binding
copper compounds together, but not the rocky material remaining. The ore is then put in a tub of
water through the feed consisting of a foaming agent. Air is then released bit by bit in the agitator,
causing bubbles to form. The water repellent copper compounds are picked up with the bubbles,
making them float, letting the excess froth flow over the sides, creating concentrated copper in the
concentrate launder.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a furnace. The copper (II) ions in the ore are converted to copper (I) sulphide, while the iron in
the ore is transferred into iron (II) silicate slag (Due to the calcium carbonate), furthermore, a
majority of the sulphur turns into sulphur dioxide gas. The equation used in the above steps is as
follows: 2CuFeS + 2SiO2 + 4O2в†’ Cu2S + 2FeSiO3 +

The Genzanian Genocide And The Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan Genocide took place for in 1994 where the Hutus began to massacre the Tutsis due
to many years of oppression aided by Belgian influences. While the Palestinian Genocide occurred
between 1947 1948 and Zionists wished to overtake Palestinian land and remove all Arab influences
while expanding upon their territory. Yet, the Rwandan Genocide
and the Palestinian Genocide had
a distinguished similarity; to ethnically cleanse the land. Post WWII, Jew s wished for land
separate from European Anti Semitic beliefs. The Holocaust had further pushed Zionists agenda to
take Palestine due to their historical and religious background within the land. Thus, a significant
amount of Jews from Europe and America called for a separate Jewish state. During this time,
Britain had a mandate over Palestine and were authorized to rule the land. However, given that the
dispute was becoming increasingly controversial, the British withdrew from the conflict and gave
authority of the land to the UN. Then the UN had formed the UNSCOP, United Nation Special
Committee on Palestine. Their objective was to separate Jewish and Arab land. There the UN
authorized the Israeli state and caused the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. They had
forced the Palestinians to flee their villages in order to place arriving Jewish settlers. Various
tactics were used to remove Palestinians from the land. For instance. Israelis used arab radio
broadcasts to inhibit fear within the arab community. Such

Revenge in Wuthering Heights Essay
Revenge in Wuthering Heights Novels often use the emotion of hate to create tension and distress
in the plot. Wuthering Heights uses Heathcliff s disdain for the other characters to add conflict to
the story. Wuthering Heights examines the source of Heathcliff s hate as well as its effects on the
other characters throughout the story. Heathcliff s relationships with other characters also suggests
the universal theme that breeds hatred. Hindley plants the seeds of hate into Heathcliff by treating
him cruelly as a child to begin with. This past happening creates the mutual scornful attitude
between Heathcliff and Hindley, which spreads into the rest of the characters in the novel.

adults. As soon as Hindley s father dies, Heathcliff is taught the true meaning of hate by Hindley.
As Heathcliff ages, his hate for Hindley grows inside of him, along with a need for revenge.
Heathcliff s need for revenge allows him to formulate his diabolical plan for taking over both the
Grange and the Heights, upon return from his three year sojourn. Heathcliff s ability to gamble
the Heights away from Hindley foreshadows the unyielding power of Heithcliff s hate when
fueled by revenge. Thus establishing hate as the source of Heathcliff s revenge. Heathcliff s
loathing feelings against Hindley even last long after Hindley s death. Heathcliff has created a
demonic reality in which his mistreatment of Hereton will enable him to gain revenge against
Hindley. Heathcliff also maintains his revenge by becoming extremely possessive of the Heights.
Heathcliff s vicious watch dogs ensure the security of the Heights because maintaining complete
control of the Heights continues his revenge against Hindley. Since Edgar and Isabella were
sources of oppression in Heathcliff s childhood, Heathcliff feels the need to plot for revenge
against them. Heathcliff s reappearance is his first act of revenge, because he immediately makes

Obstructive Sleep Apnea In Women Summary
In the article Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Women: Specific Issues and Interventions, obstructive
sleep apnea is classified by a few symptoms that patients might experience, including weariness,
drowsiness during the day, challenges focusing and completing tasks, depression, poor sleep, and
often insomnia. (Wimms, Woehrle, Ketheeswaran, Ramanan, Armitstead 2016). This specific type
of sleep disordercan be quite challenging at times to diagnose. One mechanism that is available to
measure how severe one s obstructive sleep apnea is called the Apnea hypopnea index (AHI).
This index calculates the number of the times that a patient s airway is blocked every hour during

The American International Bank Case
THE AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL BANK CASE
* Summary of the Situation
Tamara Long sat in her office reflecting on the tough past 6 weeks. She was the head of the
international department at the American International Bank (AIB). Six weeks ago, the Chairman
of the bank had called Tamara into his office. A bulletin had just come over the banks wire
indicating that a military coup had taken place in Portugal.
The bulletin also reported that the new military dictator had frozen all foreign assets in Portugal and
had imposed strict currency controls to keep capital from fleeing the country. When the Chairman
heard about this, he asked Tamara a perfectly logical question:

She had complete confidence in their judgment and was kept informed through monthly reports as
well as phone conversations on any major transactions. Tamara made semiannual visits to all the
branches and quite often would accompany the CEOs of major clients when they went abroad to
arrange for mergers or acquisitions.
During these trips, Tamara made sure that the local branch manager accompanied her on all client
visits. Once every quarter, each branch manager visited headquarters in New York to review clients,
discuss plans, and exchange ideas. Tamara would try to schedule these meetings so that as many
managers as possible would be in New York at the same time. This afforded a chance for the
managers to meet and to exchange information about mutual clients. All in all, the working
environment at AIB was competitive but cordial, and there was a feeling of trust and mutual
respect among management personnel.
Each of the branches had a computer. These ranged in size from an IBM 4300 system at the
London office to minicomputers in all the other offices. London was the most automated of the
overseas offices; it was the largest, and it also had a thriving trust operation and a merchant banking
business (securities transactions). The other offices used their computers to maintain branch
financial records, bank ledgers, and information needed to prepare government regulatory reports.

King Lear, By William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s tragic play King Lear is a play that occupies a critical place in the great
playwright s cannon. Harold Bloom noted that it, along with Hamlet, can be thought of as a
kind of secular scripture or mythology . If we accept Bloom s reading, then it becomes possible
to read the play as a kind of a parable and to read it s symbolism in terms of the way that those
symbols have been teased out in scripture and in mythology. In particular, this essay will consider
how blindnessfunctions as a symbol that puts the play in conversation with scripture and myth.
Blindness in King Learelicits the kind of sympathy that biblical references to blindness engender.
Alternatively, references to blindness in mythology are not meant to speak about care and
generosity but rather as punishment. Shakespeare blends both the scriptural significance of
blindness and the mythological symbolism to create two characters, Lear and Gloucester whose
ignorance Shakespeare figures through metaphors of sight, vision and blindness. As such,
Shakespeare both incites Christian pity for these men who lack the ability to see what is before
them, while invoking the quid pro quo moralism of myth that figures blindness as a punishment for
bad behaviour.
Foakes notes that [King Lear] is not located in time (p. 82). He points out that it refers through to
the primitive world of gods while at the same time evidences scriptural quotes in the mouths of the
characters. As such the play sees both

Les Miserable Scene Analysis
The scene that I have chosen to apply my learning in this term to, as well as specifically analyze,
is the 2012 Universal and Working Title Films production of the movie musical Les
MisГ©rables, directed by Tom Hooper. This musical focuses on the lives of several characters
in France during the early 1800 s; Jean Valjean is an ex convict who breaks parole to start a new
life, Javert is the chief of police dedicated to upholding the law, Fantine is a single mother who
turns to prostitution as a way to provide for her child Cosette, and more. The scene I am fixated
on details Fantine in the wake of losing her job and realizing she needs to make money to support
her child. This scene is impactful and striking because of its dealing with the topic of prostitution
and unemployment, as well as being a pivotal part of the film dramatically with live singing and
superb acting. The scene is also a pristine example of multiple film techniques such as close up
camera shots, setting, lighting, actors, singing, and sounds in general. To briefly summarize the
scene, I will start with some basic background information on the main character during this specific
time in the film. Fantine is a single mother who is working at a tailoring house with many other
women, until she is thrown out onto the street. She is thrown out because her fellow female tailors,
and male boss (who was a bit more than friendly) found out Fantine had a daughter and thought she
could bring only trouble. Her daughter

For the past 18 months Martha McCaskey has been an exemplary performer with high integrity
and been assigned as a project leader to a crucial high profile project named Silicon 6. Upon
successful completion of Silicon 6, McCaskey has been promised a promotion to group manager.
McCaskey is being pressured by senior management to finish the project and have an action plan
to present to the client. Now she has some options to weigh in order to complete the project. What

McCaskey was so outraged she finished the report in 10 days. Malone established her report as the
new benchmark for IAD projects. This behavior by Malone should have been a warning sign as

is no easier way to gain loyalty then by praise. McCaskey felt Richardson and Malone
disapproved of her handling of the project. It was during this period that Malone suggested
McCaskey ask advice of 2 members of the Hackerts group; Dan Randall and Chuck Kaufmann
concerning obtaining sources of information. Hackert s group was involved in gathering detailed
information about competitors. This McCaskey quickly ascertained that Kaufmann and Randall
were the real producers of this group. Before she was done on her current project McCaskey was
asked by Richardson to talk with the rest of the members of Davies Old Guard group on the
Silicon 6 Project. Randall was cold and unapproachable and Kaufmann was unavailable. McCaskey
did work later with Kaufmann on some team projects and she found him to be approachable and
fun to work with.

Garrett Morgan Speech
Hello everyone and welcome to my new history channel, People of History. Today we will be
discussing a very important inventor, who was known for the creation of the gas mask and the
traffic signal, Mr. Garrett Augustus Morgan.
Before we begin, here are the two main sources that I used in researching for this video. And now
we will begin.
Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1877, the same year that Reconstruction would end in the south.
His father was a former confederate colonel named John Hunt Morgan and his mother was half
Native American and half African American.
Despite his sixth grade education, Morgan was blessed with the mind of a true inventor, as well as
ideas for entrepreneurship. While he worked in a textile factory, he learned the... Show more

His reason for making it was to save lives on the road, and reduce the chances of collisions on the
road. He wanted his invention to be used to tell cars when they could go, and when pedestrians
could walk across the street. This invention was recognized by General Electric, and led to the
company buying Morgan s patent in 1923.
Morgan s safety hood received praise and was used by many in the Northern states across hundreds
of cities. The hood was even sold to the United States Army and Navy, who would use this
invention during the First World War.
Despite success in the North, the southern states proved to be more difficult. Though his
invention received praise in the press in the year of 1916, Morgan was taken out of the story, and
there was only mention of the other men who went to save the men in the tunnel. After this
occurred it would take many years until Cleveland and the rest of the United States would fully
recognize Morgan s accomplishments. By the time of his death in 1963, he was recognized as a
hero of Lake Erie and restored to his rightful place in American history. Today, Morgan s inventions
have evolved through the years, and continue to be used to this very

Important Function Of The Bha
ABSTRACT
The lower parts of the drill string ranging from Under Reamers, Stabilizers, shocks, Drill bit and
Drill subs as well as Hole openers collectively make up the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA). It can
also be defined as the components of a drill string that are normally located at the bottom of a
wellbore during drilling procedures. Each of the components comes with a special function that
helps drilling engineers to gain a better control during drilling. Other function of a BHA includes,
helping operators to safely and more efficiently controlling the well in its original or intended
direction. Furthermore, they provide knowledge when it comes to determining the shape, size and
other important wellbore properties relating to geometry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This BHA component comes in various types with each kind designed to suit a particular drilling
job. Figure 1 below shows a prototype of a simple BHA setup and also shows the various
components that make up this unit. A drillbit designed for soft or permeable formations will
almost malfunction in harder formation matrixes and vice versa. The Kelly or Top drive provides
the power needed to spin the drill and by so doing bore through the formation by crushing and
breaking the rocks. Sitting atop the drill bits are the drill collars which helps provide the bit with
the needed weight for penetration. These collars are held together by threads and help to reduce
tension in the drill string that houses the Bottom hole assembly. Figure 1. Bottom Hole Assembly

Next in line to be discussed are the subs, which are used in the event that two different threads
are to be employed in the connection between collars. There are also the Under reamers and like
their name implies it is used in opening the hole by means of reaming. This is made possible due
to the cutters designed to freely expand and contract based on the pressure difference they get
exposed to. At the target depth, they expand and ream the hole at the set time. In terms of
functionality, reamers are similar to hole openers except that hole openers enlarges

The Chemical Elements Hydrogen And Oxygen
Approximately 75 percent of the Earth s surface is comprised of water. Formed by some of the
tiniest know elements that can be found, and yet water shapes and is a vital part of the biological
processes on Earth regardless on which phase of matter, namely solid, liquid, or gas, it is in.
Therefore, scientists and chemists always search for water, especially liquid water, first in other
distant planets considering that finding water on other planets is a major development in the search
of life.
Water is a substance that is composed of the chemical elements hydrogen and oxygen. A molecule
consists of two hydrogen atoms, each linked by a single covalent bond to an oxygen atom.
However, only two of the six outer shell electrons of oxygen are used for this purpose, leaving four
electrons which are organized into two non bonding pairs. These pairs surrounding the oxygen have
a partially negative charge mainly through electrostatic attraction increasing its electronegativity,
which tend to arrange themselves as far from each other as possible in order to minimize
repulsions. In turn, makes the hydrogen atoms to have a partially positive charge, and therefore
making the two non bonding pairs remain closer to the oxygen atom, which exert a stronger
repulsion against the two covalent bonding pairs, effectively pushing the two hydrogen atoms
closer together. This electronic structure of water makes it possible for the molecule to bend on a
special way, shown through the figure:

Right To Free Speech Persuasive Speech
The right to free speech is one of the most precious rights an individual has as a citizen of the
United States of America. This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind and give
their opinions of what they think should happen. These rights have been questioned and exercised
throughout history, and have produced extremely positive things in a lot of cases. In modern
times, people are always protesting something and in the colonial times it was the same. People
wanted their voice to be heard and as long as it is done in a peaceful manner it is legal now, but it
resulted in punishment for the colonists. People have never questioned whether or not these rights
should exist, the questions involve whether there should be limits or not. No matter what side the
authorities take, there are only two main points to deal with cyberstalking: free speech is an
essential right, but it should not be meant to include hate speech.
A system that tolerates hate speech is probably superior to the alternatives, but defenders of an
absolute right can t pretend no one gets hurt. Epps (2014) suggested that free speech does do
harm and it has to be defended: hate speech may be for individual members of minorities or other
targeted groups, its toleration is to their great collective benefit. What Epps means is that hate
speech can cause people harming themselves or most of them decide to end their lives. For
example, this goes back to the boy name Roy that committed suicide after his girlfriend kept
sending him multiple text messages, The judge said he did not take into account in his verdict
Roy s previous suicide attempts (Truesdell, Pennington, Hanlon, 2017). What the writer seem to
suggest might have been perceived as of how many times the boy tried to kill himself but failed
until the last time he did it. Finally, Hate speech is often misunderstood because it can be classified
as either careless or intentionally hurtful. Many people interpret careless statements as acts of
aggression, but with good reason. It would be false to say that the freedom of speech has never been
manipulated to inflict damage upon others. Questions have been risen of what hate speech is and
if it should be allowed to be viewed by

Declining Birth Rates
Before, characterizing the family was straightforward. Couples had a tendency to live together after
marriage, with kids following not long after. Presently, be that as it may, things have changed.
Characterizing the average structure of an advanced family is significantly more confounded, with
less relational unions, rising separation rates and expanding quantities of common associations
testing the present. Throughout the year s American thought of a familyhas changed in Declining
birth rates, moves in marriageand separation levels, and single parentfamilies.
Throughout the years, the declining birth rates have changed. In 1971, the normal family measure
was 2.9 individuals however, in 2006, this figure had fallen by 17% to 2.4 individuals. Amid a
similar period, the youngsters per family fell by 10% from 2.0 to 1.8, however, this figure

particularly since the broadened post World War II time of increased birth rates accomplices have

The Issue Of Gun Related Homicide
Most nations today deal on a daily basis with the pervasive the issue of gun related homicide.
Journalists report on these crimes regularly, and still it is still a regular debate about what
variables produce high rates of gun related homicide. The United States of America boasts one of
the highest rates of firearm violence among 1st world nations. Germany, also a 1st world republic,

variables from within both nations exert influence over this statistic, which makes the homicide rate

Since Germans do not harbor a fear of their fellow citizens, a variety of variables ranging from

Airport security in the United States has been a controversial topic since the terrorist attacks of

soon became the new normal in airports across the country. Travelers voiced concerns and
complaints over the heightened security measures, arguing that they invade privacy and are

The only other option for passengers uncomfortable with the full body scanners is a full body pat
down, which can be just if not more as troublesome. There is anecdotal evidence that passengers
feel that pat‐down procedures are embarrassing and invasive because they involve screeners
touching people near sensitive body areas. Although very specific guidelines and boundaries have
been established by national airport authorities, inappropriate pat‐down searches are still
reported. (Bello Salau 666)
The TSA, however, tries to assure passengers that the images produced are blurred which means
the passengers being screened cannot be recognized. It further emphasized that the images are
not recorded. In response to this, the Islamic Human Right Commission (IHRC), a non profit
research and advocacy organization based in London, says The fact that a person s facial

by the screener. This is gross invasion of privacy. If these images are truly not archived, the
question is where is the images uploaded on the internet are gotten from. (Bello Salau 668)

Why Be An Educated Person Essay
Why be an educated person?
The term education can mean many things. An education is the collective knowledge a person
has, but what does an education mean? Although an education can be paid for, no one can
physically give you an education, so it is not a gift. There are societal situations where an
education is a necessity, but not many globally. Education is a tool to be utilized differently in
every part of the world. Knowledge is power, but some knowledge is more powerful depending on
your region. If you are part a primitive tribe in New Guinea, a person that is considered to be
educated may be illiterate. Whereas in America, an illiterate person would have trouble functioning
at all in society. Education is a tool that is to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This situation exemplifies the problems that one can face when an education is desired but outside
scarcities disallow.
There are some circumstances where special educational aspects are a necessity in a certain
region, but education is not global. In most developed countries a lawyer would be considered an
educated person, but if a lawyer was sent to a more primitive society he would be lost. A farmer
educated in cultivation in Nebraska could nourish himself indefinitely, but take away his farm and
he has nothing but the knowledge of farming. There are certain things that a person must know in
order to have the power to survive in a chosen society. These things change with regards to the
society at hand. In more developed places it is pertinent that you know how to read. Without this
skill a person will remained severely uninformed, disconnected, and uneducated. The ability to read
is the stepping stone to self education. A literate person with motivation and knowledge of
construction can become successful with very little institutionalized education. This skill, as it
applies to American social culture, is the most important attribute of an education. Without the
ability to read, a person would have to either settle for an extremely unskilled job, grow their own
food, or resort to thievery. In a accomplished society such as

The Opioids And Its Effects
Introduction
The opioids produce analgesic effects no matter is endogenous or synthetic, including morphine,
codeine and methadone. (3)Endogenous opioid peptides such as endorphins, enkephalins and
dynorphins activate opioid receptors including mu receptors (mainly), delta receptors, kappa
receptors and ORL1 receptors to produce different effects. One of the non analgesic effects is the
disruption of sleep wake behaviour by the opioids actions on the ventrolateral preoptic nucleus
(VLPO). The differences of the pharmacokinetic properties between the 3 opioids mentioned and
the possible mechanisms of sleep wake regulations will be discussed below.
Pharmacokinetics of the opioids
The opioids are divided into subgroups based on chemical structures. (1) Morphine and codeine are
in the group that has a 4, 5 epoxymorphinan ring in each of the opioids. (1)(Fig1) The free
hydroxyl on the benzene ring linked by 2C and 2N determines the opioid activity. (3) Codeine is
produced by substituting the hydroxyl group on the carbon 3 atom on the morphine while that
hydroxyl group is responsible for binding properties. Therefore codeine is less potent. (4)
Methadone is one of the diphenylheptylamines which is relatively lipophilic comparing to morphine
and codeine. (5)(Fig1)These opioids all interact with mu opioid receptors primarily but they differ
in pharmacokinetics. (1)
Administration
The majority of opioids can be taken by oral administration. (1) However the bioavailability of the

The narrator in the text do we not get much information about, but it is likely that he is black

they can spend hours talking who the best fighter is.
The setting is Harlem. Harlem is in northern Manhattan New York. It is known as a major African

The Movie Watched Is A Few Good Men And It Was Obtained At...
The title of the movie watched is A Few Good Men and it was obtained at 123movies.gs. Its
major characters are Lt. Daniel Kaffee, Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway, Colonel Nathan R.
Jessep, and Lance Corporal Harold Dawson. Five themes that the movie dramatically displayed
were how plea deals were done, the respect judges get, the responsibilities of a judge, the
responsibilities of a defense attorney, and it also showed very little of what a bailiff does in the
courtroom. Over 90% of convictions are from negotiated guilty pleas. They help avoid court and a
lot of paperwork lawyers may have to do which gives them more time to focus on cases that are
bigger and more serious. In the movie, Captain West stated to Lt. Commander Galloway, ...I m sure
it ll boil down to a five minute plea bargainand a week s worth of paper work. No one expected the
case to make it to court. Plea bargaining does not take place in a court room; it can take place at a
restaurant, a game, the lawyers can meet at their houses, and many other places. Lieutenant
Kaffee made plea deals while he was playing baseball. Since many cases get plea deals many
lawyers do not see the court room often. Forty four plea bargains were done by Lt. Kaffee in nine
months and he had not once seen the inside of a courtroom until the case that takes place in the
movie. Even though plea deals have its advantages, problems can arise from it such as the
defendants not wanting a deal, one defendant in the movie did not want one,

Invest In Driverless Cars
Driverless cars have long been in debate since Google made its announcement for an autonomous
car. Although driverless cars are feared because they may cause more accidents, the first
autonomous car accident was at the fault of a human. The advancements that driverless cars offer to
modern technology and its potential market deems itself more beneficial than not. Therefore,
automobilemanufacturing companies should invest in driverless cars.
Autonomous cars would be labeled as a disruptive innovation since its implementation could lead
to a lower demand for normal cars. This never before seen technology may very well be the new hit
thing thus also making it a radical innovation. A similar effect can be seen through the creation of
smartphones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies often face cultural lock in, or essentially the fear of change. One reason that Kodak
has failed had been that it failed to commercialize its film technology due to its inability to adapt to
the growing technology. However, the manufacturer could bring in additional expertise to gain
more insight on the profitability of the technology and train employees of its uses. Additionally, the
manufacturer could assess the demand for driverless cars by releasing a few self driving cars as a
test run. If the run is deemed profitable the company could incrementally increase funding towards
the technology. The automobile manufacturer also would not fall too far behind in terms of
competition. Many companies that wait for competitors to test run products often fall off the
market because they join the game too late. Consumers also tend to lean towards brands that they
know are reliable, rather than fresh companies. With this method, the company would not lose as
much if autonomous car did not attract as many consumers as anticipated.
Although driverless cars can easily control the automotive industry, its impact ultimately depends
on the demands of the

Kindergarten In Kindergarten
Kindergarten in the 1870s was a place for the middle class children in Canada. However, the late
into the 19th century kindergarten changed. It went from being a novel childrearing alternative
for the educated middle classes and a popular means of maintaining cultural heritage among
German immigrants, to becoming a widespread form of upper and middle class women s
philanthropic work with poor children and an integral part of many public school systems
(Lazerson, 1973 from Dehli, 2014, p. 15). In the 1870s, there were only dozens of kindergartens.
There were 400 kindergarten schools in 1880s. The change was likely due to the increase in jobs
and industrial capitalism. Kindergartens became a place to help the poor and immigrant urban
children, and to improve such children s families and communities (Dehli, 2014, p. 14). In addition,
the educators were usually middle class and upper class women. While there was a rise to industrial
capitalism, there was a rise to women s profession. In the 1870s and 1880s during the weekdays,
thousands of three to five year old children gathered in churches, houses, and schools and engaged
in games, songs, stories, and many more. When the educators were not caring for the children over
the weekends the educators visited children s homes and organized meetings with mothers that
could be educators, volunteers, and contributors to the ECE community. They also promoted
kindergarten through their writings, lectures, fundraising, and lobbying.

The Coco Fall Semester
Jose Ricardo Calvo Professor Vandeveer POLT 567 December 3rd, 2015 Cocoa In 16 days all
UNH students will journey back home for holiday break to enjoy a month long of relaxation and
binge watching the latest Netflix original series. For some, this will be the first time since the
beginning of the Fall Semester that they will see their homes again, and to their surprise, they
may arrive to a newly decorated, holiday themed house. Some homes will be filled with classic
red and green tinsel, others with modern white and silver LED lights, and maybe some not at all
dressed up, but one item that almost every household will share is chocolate. Oddly enough,
every holiday, special occasion, or just because moments are filled with chocolate. You wouldn t
give someone a handful of jelly beans to express your love on Valentine s day, or request a tray
full of salt water taffy sent to your room to celebrate an anniversary, would you? Chocolate is our
everyday edible diamond and there s no turning back after tasting that bittersweet delight, unless we
couldn t produce anymore. Environmental Issues: Cocoa (raw chocolate), in actuality, is a fickle
tree. These trees require constant warmth and rainfall to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the media coverage of blood diamonds, international actors needed to put attention to the
problem. The Kimberly Process was designed to stem the flow of blood diamonds and similarly
the cocoa verification working group was to do the same, however, the cocoa verification working
group has yet to come to order and may never will. Another method that the Diamonds book
touches upon is how governments lowered the price of permits for alluvial diggers. The cocoa
industry and cocoa dependent country could form something similar. Even though there isn t any
blood chocolate entering the system, the government could keep track of which small farms are

How Electricity Is Produced By Using Coal
These days, most of us tend to take electricity for granted. If one were to be asked where it comes
from, you would most likely get responses from all over, with a common response being, Out of
the sockets in the wall! In this paper I will be giving a very brief overview of how electricity is
produced, specifically from coal.
Generating electricity requires a fuel source, and the fuel source for both EKP and DP L is
coal. About 60% of the electricity nationwide is produced by using coal. Coal arrives mainly by
a barge, but also by rail and truck. Barges typically deliver around 1,500 tons of coal, which is
enough to keep a plant running for a couple of hours. A plant uses around 21,000 tons of coal
each day, so over 1,000,000 tons of coal is stockpiled next to the plant. A device called a stacker
reclaimer scoops coal onto a quarter mile long conveyor that can transport up to 900 tons of coal
into the plant each hour. Once inside the plant, up to a thirty hour supply of coal can be stored in
bunkers. Coal moves from the bunkers to feeders to be measured and moved to pulverizers. Coal
enters the pulverizer and spins in a large drum where hundreds of steel balls grind it into a fine
powder. Now a fine powder, the coal leaves the pulverizers and heads to the boiler. About 335 tons
of coal can be pulverized per hour. Large fans add warm air to the powdery coal and blow it into
the boiler. The boiler has miles of tubes filled with high quality water. Once

Reflection Paper On The Solar Eclipse
While being a very excited fan of Mythology, Astrology and this year s upcoming solar eclipse, I
decided to embark on a journey with my two daughters, Jazmine (4 and proud of it), Layla
(terrible 2.5 s) Goins to experience the eclipse at its fullest in Totality town (Andrews) North
Carolina. Second thought s about this were weighing heavily in my head. Especially in the wake
of the recent tragedy that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia. But being that this was a very
important historical moment, I really wanted this experience not only for myself but for my
daughters also. So with out any more hesitation, I said a quick prayer and set forward towards
my destination. 2.5 hrs later we were in a thriving community where everyone shared the same
enthusiasm that I did for the upcoming event. So with out further ado, I unfolded my daughters
blanket under a shade tree so they would be comfortable, and commenced a count down for the
event. After settling in we were greeted by a fellow stargazer whom asked offered a pair of glasses
to my daughters in order to view the eclipse. Without hesitation, they replied, received their glasses,
and gave her the biggest hug their short arms could muster. Moments later, I was greeted by
Stephen St. Claire, An artist from Asheville, North Carolinawhom with a warm welcome, invited
my daughters and myself to join himself and his wife Joy St. Claire, under the trees where
everyone else was, and not alone. Understanding immediately the potential and power in this, I
agreed, gathered my things and shuffled my daughters in their direction. Once we made it there,
my daughters as always, hugged, greeted, and told them their names and ages. In like fashion, they
were bombarded with the same. Once we were settled sitting down, Joy being the SAINT that she
is immediately started interacting with my daughters as if she had known them their whole life,
and vice versa. While Steven and I had a very interesting, wholehearted, truthful, fellowship
amongst ourselves, about what s going on in today s world. As our conversation continued, he
asked if I felt as if there was a change from then until now. Anxious to convey my answer accurately
and correctly, I told

Here s the catch he started discovering them at just 23 years old! Isaac Newton s scientific work throughout the 17th century impacted the modern world with a turning point in history that would change the way we deal with modern science and mathematics. Isaac Newtonis often referred to as the father of science, an honorary name. Newton s work has greatly impacted not only the ways we study and use science, but our everyday lives as well. For example, Newton also discovered the laws of motion (force, inertia, reaction), gravity, and light s components. His work was studied using experiments that questioned the natural world and tested hypotheses. His system of calculus showed extreme thinking and high intelligence. Newton s life and work is one of the most predominant turning points of the Scientific Revolution and the mathematical pursuit of knowledge, including his laws of physics, experimentation that can be repeated, predicted, and verified today, and the anticipation, development, and rigorization of calculus. The new knowledge presented and demonstrated by Isaac Newton in the 17th century includes motion (force, inertia, reaction), universal gravity, and even the principles of how light works, all key elements of physics. Mathilde is not portrayed as being characteristic of the Petite Bourgeoisie due to being contrasted with her cherishing husband who falls within the same social class. Madame Loisel is more of a satirical representation of the Petite Bourgeoisie , I think Maupassant mocks her as a stereotypical diva rather than uses her to depict the social class. Exquisite but worthless, the necklace illustrates the puissance of perception and the breach between appearance and actuality. In the story, Madame Loisel borrows the necklace from her intimate idol Madame Forestier, with intention as to insinuate wealth. Madame Forestier hides the fact that the necklace is a fake she too wants to impress her peer and paint the illusion of being more affluent than she truly is. Due to Mathilde being profoundly jealous of Madame Forestier, she never suspects the necklace s legitimacy and blindly assumes the necklace is made of diamonds. Madame Loisel willingly plunders into this world of hypocrisy, as she whole heartily believes in her borrowed opulence; she projects an appearance of abundance to others. Because she believes in her wealth, she becomes wealthy in the eyes of others. The fact that the necklace is the focal point of the beguilement that triggers of Mathilde s social collapse implies nothing but trouble can result from obscuring the truth of one s situation. Copper (Chemical symbol Cu, Atomic number 29), is one of the best electrical conductors in all metals, has influenced the use of telecommunications throughout the world. We rely on copper for a lot of things power, heating, lighting, transport, communication, and even coinage. The wide application of copper in our daily lives has made our homes, schools and businesses pleasant, decorative and efficient but also has created negative impacts in our environment. Copper is usually extracted from sulphide ores such as Chalcopyrite. Since these ores contain low amounts of copper, they have to be concentrated through froth flotation before refining. The sulphate ore is first mined underground, and then bought to the surface to be crushed. Pine oil is then applied to the crushed copper ores, binding copper compounds together, but not the rocky material remaining. The ore is then put in a tub of water through the feed consisting of a foaming agent. Air is then released bit by bit in the agitator, causing bubbles to form. The water repellent copper compounds are picked up with the bubbles, making them float, letting the excess froth flow over the sides, creating concentrated copper in the concentrate launder.... If we accept Bloom s reading, then it becomes possible to read the play as a kind of a parable and to read it s symbolism in terms of the way that those symbols have been teased out in scripture and in mythology. In particular, this essay will consider how blindnessfunctions as a symbol that puts the play in conversation with scripture and myth. Blindness in King Learelicits the kind of sympathy that biblical references to blindness engender. Alternatively, references to blindness in mythology are not meant to speak about care and generosity but rather as punishment. Shakespeare blends both the scriptural significance of blindness and the mythological symbolism to create two characters, Lear and Gloucester whose ignorance Shakespeare figures through metaphors of sight, vision and blindness. As such, Shakespeare both incites Christian pity for these men who lack the ability to see what is before them, while invoking the quid pro quo moralism of myth that figures blindness as a punishment for bad behaviour. Foakes notes that [King Lear] is not located in time (p. 82). He points out that it refers through to the primitive world of gods while at the same time evidences scriptural quotes in the mouths of the characters. As such the play sees both ... • 21. Les Miserable Scene Analysis The scene that I have chosen to apply my learning in this term to, as well as specifically analyze, is the 2012 Universal and Working Title Films production of the movie musical Les MisГ©rables, directed by Tom Hooper. This musical focuses on the lives of several characters in France during the early 1800 s; Jean Valjean is an ex convict who breaks parole to start a new life, Javert is the chief of police dedicated to upholding the law, Fantine is a single mother who turns to prostitution as a way to provide for her child Cosette, and more. The scene I am fixated on details Fantine in the wake of losing her job and realizing she needs to make money to support her child. This scene is impactful and striking because of its dealing with the topic of prostitution and unemployment, as well as being a pivotal part of the film dramatically with live singing and superb acting. The scene is also a pristine example of multiple film techniques such as close up camera shots, setting, lighting, actors, singing, and sounds in general. To briefly summarize the scene, I will start with some basic background information on the main character during this specific time in the film. Fantine is a single mother who is working at a tailoring house with many other women, until she is thrown out onto the street. She is thrown out because her fellow female tailors, and male boss (who was a bit more than friendly) found out Fantine had a daughter and thought she could bring only trouble. Her daughter ... Today we will be discussing a very important inventor, who was known for the creation of the gas mask and the traffic signal, Mr. Garrett Augustus Morgan. Before we begin, here are the two main sources that I used in researching for this video. And now we will begin. Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1877, the same year that Reconstruction would end in the south. His father was a former confederate colonel named John Hunt Morgan and his mother was half Native American and half African American. Despite his sixth grade education, Morgan was blessed with the mind of a true inventor, as well as ideas for entrepreneurship. While he worked in a textile factory, he learned the... Morgan s safety hood received praise and was used by many in the Northern states across hundreds of cities. The hood was even sold to the United States Army and Navy, who would use this invention during the First World War. Despite success in the North, the southern states proved to be more difficult. Though his invention received praise in the press in the year of 1916, Morgan was taken out of the story, and there was only mention of the other men who went to save the men in the tunnel. After this occurred it would take many years until Cleveland and the rest of the United States would fully recognize Morgan s accomplishments. The Kelly or Top drive provides the power needed to spin the drill and by so doing bore through the formation by crushing and breaking the rocks. Formed by some of the tiniest know elements that can be found, and yet water shapes and is a vital part of the biological processes on Earth regardless on which phase of matter, namely solid, liquid, or gas, it is in. Therefore, scientists and chemists always search for water, especially liquid water, first in other distant planets considering that finding water on other planets is a major development in the search of life. Water is a substance that is composed of the chemical elements hydrogen and oxygen. A molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms, each linked by a single covalent bond to an oxygen atom. However, only two of the six outer shell electrons of oxygen are used for this purpose, leaving four electrons which are organized into two non bonding pairs. These pairs surrounding the oxygen have a partially negative charge mainly through electrostatic attraction increasing its electronegativity, which tend to arrange themselves as far from each other as possible in order to minimize repulsions. In turn, makes the hydrogen atoms to have a partially positive charge, and therefore making the two non bonding pairs remain closer to the oxygen atom, which exert a stronger repulsion against the two covalent bonding pairs, effectively pushing the two hydrogen atoms closer together. This electronic structure of water makes it possible for the molecule to bend on a special way, shown through the figure: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Right To Free Speech Persuasive Speech The right to free speech is one of the most precious rights an individual has as a citizen of the United States of America. This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind and give their opinions of what they think should happen. These rights have been questioned and exercised throughout history, and have produced extremely positive things in a lot of cases. In modern times, people are always protesting something and in the colonial times it was the same. People wanted their voice to be heard and as long as it is done in a peaceful manner it is legal now, but it resulted in punishment for the colonists. People have never questioned whether or not these rights should exist, the questions involve whether there should be limits or not. No matter what side the authorities take, there are only two main points to deal with cyberstalking: free speech is an essential right, but it should not be meant to include hate speech. A system that tolerates hate speech is probably superior to the alternatives, but defenders of an absolute right can t pretend no one gets hurt. Epps (2014) suggested that free speech does do harm and it has to be defended: hate speech may be for individual members of minorities or other targeted groups, its toleration is to their great collective benefit. What Epps means is that hate speech can cause people harming themselves or most of them decide to end their lives. For example, this goes back to the boy name Roy that committed suicide after his girlfriend kept sending him multiple text messages, The judge said he did not take into account in his verdict Roy s previous suicide attempts (Truesdell, Pennington, Hanlon, 2017). What the writer seem to suggest might have been perceived as of how many times the boy tried to kill himself but failed until the last time he did it. Finally, Hate speech is often misunderstood because it can be classified as either careless or intentionally hurtful. Many people interpret careless statements as acts of aggression, but with good reason. It would be false to say that the freedom of speech has never been manipulated to inflict damage upon others. Questions have been risen of what hate speech is and if it should be allowed to be viewed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the non analgesic effects is the disruption of sleep wake behaviour by the opioids actions on the ventrolateral preoptic nucleus (VLPO). The differences of the pharmacokinetic properties between the 3 opioids mentioned and the possible mechanisms of sleep wake regulations will be discussed below. Pharmacokinetics of the opioids The opioids are divided into subgroups based on chemical structures. (1) Morphine and codeine are in the group that has a 4, 5 epoxymorphinan ring in each of the opioids. • 42. Invest In Driverless Cars Driverless cars have long been in debate since Google made its announcement for an autonomous car. Although driverless cars are feared because they may cause more accidents, the first autonomous car accident was at the fault of a human. The advancements that driverless cars offer to modern technology and its potential market deems itself more beneficial than not. Therefore, automobilemanufacturing companies should invest in driverless cars. Autonomous cars would be labeled as a disruptive innovation since its implementation could lead to a lower demand for normal cars. This never before seen technology may very well be the new hit thing thus also making it a radical innovation. A similar effect can be seen through the creation of smartphones. ... One reason that Kodak has failed had been that it failed to commercialize its film technology due to its inability to adapt to the growing technology. However, the manufacturer could bring in additional expertise to gain more insight on the profitability of the technology and train employees of its uses. Additionally, the manufacturer could assess the demand for driverless cars by releasing a few self driving cars as a test run. If the run is deemed profitable the company could incrementally increase funding towards the technology. The automobile manufacturer also would not fall too far behind in terms of competition. Many companies that wait for competitors to test run products often fall off the market because they join the game too late. Consumers also tend to lean towards brands that they know are reliable, rather than fresh companies. With this method, the company would not lose as much if autonomous car did not attract as many consumers as anticipated. Although driverless cars can easily control the automotive industry, its impact ultimately depends on the demands of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Kindergarten In Kindergarten Kindergarten in the 1870s was a place for the middle class children in Canada. However, the late into the 19th century kindergarten changed. It went from being a novel childrearing alternative for the educated middle classes and a popular means of maintaining cultural heritage among German immigrants, to becoming a widespread form of upper and middle class women s philanthropic work with poor children and an integral part of many public school systems (Lazerson, 1973 from Dehli, 2014, p. 15). In the 1870s, there were only dozens of kindergartens. There were 400 kindergarten schools in 1880s. The change was likely due to the increase in jobs and industrial capitalism. Kindergartens became a place to help the poor and immigrant urban children, and to improve such children s families and communities (Dehli, 2014, p. 14). In addition, the educators were usually middle class and upper class women. While there was a rise to industrial capitalism, there was a rise to women s profession. In the 1870s and 1880s during the weekdays, thousands of three to five year old children gathered in churches, houses, and schools and engaged in games, songs, stories, and many more. When the educators were not caring for the children over the weekends the educators visited children s homes and organized meetings with mothers that could be educators, volunteers, and contributors to the ECE community. They also promoted kindergarten through their writings, lectures, fundraising, and lobbying. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Coco Fall Semester Jose Ricardo Calvo Professor Vandeveer POLT 567 December 3rd, 2015 Cocoa In 16 days all UNH students will journey back home for holiday break to enjoy a month long of relaxation and binge watching the latest Netflix original series. For some, this will be the first time since the beginning of the Fall Semester that they will see their homes again, and to their surprise, they may arrive to a newly decorated, holiday themed house. Some homes will be filled with classic red and green tinsel, others with modern white and silver LED lights, and maybe some not at all dressed up, but one item that almost every household will share is chocolate. Oddly enough, every holiday, special occasion, or just because moments are filled with chocolate. You wouldn t give someone a handful of jelly beans to express your love on Valentine s day, or request a tray full of salt water taffy sent to your room to celebrate an anniversary, would you? Chocolate is our everyday edible diamond and there s no turning back after tasting that bittersweet delight, unless we couldn t produce anymore. • 45. How Electricity Is Produced By Using Coal These days, most of us tend to take electricity for granted. If one were to be asked where it comes from, you would most likely get responses from all over, with a common response being, Out of the sockets in the wall! In this paper I will be giving a very brief overview of how electricity is produced, specifically from coal. Generating electricity requires a fuel source, and the fuel source for both EKP and DP L is coal. About 60% of the electricity nationwide is produced by using coal. Coal arrives mainly by a barge, but also by rail and truck. Barges typically deliver around 1,500 tons of coal, which is enough to keep a plant running for a couple of hours. A plant uses around 21,000 tons of coal each day, so over 1,000,000 tons of coal is stockpiled next to the plant. A device called a stacker reclaimer scoops coal onto a quarter mile long conveyor that can transport up to 900 tons of coal into the plant each hour. Once inside the plant, up to a thirty hour supply of coal can be stored in bunkers. Coal moves from the bunkers to feeders to be measured and moved to pulverizers. Coal enters the pulverizer and spins in a large drum where hundreds of steel balls grind it into a fine powder. Now a fine powder, the coal leaves the pulverizers and heads to the boiler. About 335 tons of coal can be pulverized per hour. Large fans add warm air to the powdery coal and blow it into the boiler. The boiler has miles of tubes filled with high quality water. Once ...
