This document describes a 12-week course called Apps for Social Justice that was taught to middle and high school students. The course introduced students to computer science concepts through designing and building mobile apps to address social justice issues in their community. Two high school students, Soraya and Mayra, focused on building an Android app called BAYP that provided information on local youth programs. Through this experience, the students gained hands-on experience with computer science skills like designing interfaces, working with databases, and iterating on their app design. The course aimed to make computer science more engaging and meaningful for students by linking it to real-world issues.
