INT APHRA’S ROOM. NIGHT.

Series of ECUs. VERY close in as Aphra goes through various routines.

E.g.: Applying mascara; lip liner; brushing hair; etc etc.

EXT. FIELD. DUSK.

Peaceful landscape. Trees and grass.

ELS. APHRA sat in the middle of the field.
We don't see her face.

                            VOICE OVER
     It's unhealthy to be around people that make you dislike
     yourself.

INT. APHRA'S ROOM. MORNING.

ECU cigarette being smoked.

CUT TO: MS of APHRA is sat up in bed smoking a cigarette. This is the
same young woman as the previous scene.

Her room is average sized, not elaborately furnished, books and a
stereo – the usual. The walls are adorned with blank post-it notes.

APHRA seems to be gazing at something and we soon see what - it is a
picture on the wall of the landscape from the previous scene.

CU - stubs the half smoked cigarette out into the ashtray.

                            VOICE OVER
     We find it difficult to imagine nothingness, it's because we're
     always thinking... if only I could stop thinking...it's that
     that's forcing me to exist...nothingness. In thinking, I pull
     myself away...

INT. APHRA'S ROOM. DAY.

APHRA stands in the middle of her room. She is opening a
packet of nicotine patches. She sticks one on her arm.

INT. APHRA'S ROOM. NIGHT.

APHRA stands in her room and opens another nicotine patch. She takes
off her shirt. This patch goes on her stomach and we see that she
already has a couple of other patches on her arms.


EXT. FIELD. NIGHT.

The landscape from the first scene is now dark.

We can make out the shape of a young woman who appears to be lost and
breathing hard, panicking and frantically running through the field.

In the distance there is the sound of laughter.

INT. APHRA'S ROOM. MORNING.

APHRA lies in bed, staring, her hair is damp with sweat.

In the distance she can hear faint laughter and people moving around
upstairs. She looks like she is straining to hear.

INT. HALL WAY. MORNING.

APHRA appears from the room downstairs. She begins to walk up the
stairs. Half way up she stops to listen - whispers and stifled
laughs.

INT. APHRA'S ROOM. NIGHT.

APHRA'S room is glowing with candle light. She stands in front of her
mirror in her underwear. She begins to smother herself with nicotine
patches. Next she blows out the candles and lies back on her bed. She
stares blankly at the ceiling, listening to the noises of the house.
