APA Format Topic- Researchers have documented the physical impacts of poverty, including issues of access to quality food and availability of safe housing. In addition to the physical impact, poverty can also have a long-lasting social impact on the community and each individual. Argue whether or not socioeconomic status affects an individual’s ability to be socially mobile and provide evidence to support your position. Opinion- I believe poverty has is a strong influence to communities and individual social needs. I plan to explain how poverty effects areas such as housing and quality food which makes an impact on both the community and the individual. Parts- Communities struggle to provide safe housing in low income neighborhoods. Neighborhoods in these communities are often filled with crime and kids struggle with receiving a proper education because of the negative influences. The people in these neighborhoods struggle for employment which leads to receiving benefits for food and other needs. They are not provided ample and quality amounts of nutrition. There are a few similarities and differences between the American culture and the Chinese culture. One that strikes me the most is that they value their elders dearly. Although we all know that different cultures have ways on managing traditions and also have separate approach to aging. In the Chinese culture, respecting the elderly is actually a law that everybody follows (Sung, 2000). They value their elders and practice honor in terms of dealing with them. The American culture however, has a different approach to this. Rapidly growing senior living communities are filled with elders and are left there. With both having different approaches to family, I believe that Americans are more independent versus Chinese people who values tradition throughout every generation.
Family Roles & Organization
Family roles in the Chinese culture are more precise than the American culture. Chinese family roles are followed by which fathers being the head of the family are known to provide and take care of their children (Hu, & Scott, 2014). On the other hand, the American culture is on the broad side for being modeled in different figures and sizes. Some of which are single parent, multiple parent, or have an extended family member. Although viewed differently, both cultures still value family with respect and dignity considering the factors affecting the situation.
High-Risk Behaviors
In the American culture it is known that a few numbers of people are open to the reality of any high-risk behaviors. The approach is openly discussed and treatment is readily available. In the Chinese culture, it is discourage to display any signs of negative emotions thus can mean displaying a personal weakness. In terms of coping with any high-risk behaviors, it is hard for the Chinese culture to express their feelings towards something because of the shame and fear that they can get from other people (Guo et. al, 2019).
Reflect on the similarities and differences as they relate to your future profession as a healthcare practitioner. Discuss how this self-reflection may contribute to your cultural competence.
The similarities and differences can relate to my future profession as a healthcare practitioner knowing that every culture has different approaches to things and that learning this can help me be more diverse in dealing with every particular cases I might be involved in. Some might find this as a hindrance to their professional, but personally I find this an exciting challenge to actually learn and be more flexible with any changes. Also, with learning comes experiences that can help in making my future profession be more diverse and considerate of other’s culture. Poverty and its Impact on Education: Today and Tomorrow by Capra (2009) is an enlightening article that discusses the impact that poverty has on education. I consider this article to be valuable because education is a critical aspect of growth and development, with a significant influence in the society. The author provides the reader with a in-depth analysis of the issue by investigating the expected impact future impacts in relation to lack of education. As the author notes, “education is an international must, a veritable human right…” which shows that it is universally accepted that education is a right for everyone in the present times.

In recent years, the demands for behavior analysis to serve consumers with diverse cultural
backgrounds have significantly increased. The field is in great need of culturally competent
behavior analysts who can integrate appropriate cultural considerations to their programs.
The field of behavior analysis can address this growing need by fostering cultural compe-
tency in professional training through increasing relevant training opportunities and the
development of culture- and diversity-relevant educational curricula and materials, and by
supporting efforts to increase the number of ethnically and racially diverse behavior-
analytic workforces in academic and professional settings. Together, we can promote
cultural awareness and cultural competencies in professional behavior-analytic training.
However, there are challenges for fostering culturally diverse professionals, especially
during the academic training phase, which include language barriers, negative perceptions
about cultures that are different from one’s own, microaggressions in work and academic
settings, lack of mentoring opportunities, adverse campus climates, and tokenism. Some
potential ways to address such challenges include the development of culture- and diversity-
related curricula, mentoring opportunities, and greater support for minority and culturally
diverse students and faculty. The purpose of this commentary was to increase awareness
about the importance of cultural understanding and competency, as well as a diverse
workforce in the field of behavior analysis, a necessary step to better serve those consumers
from multicultural backgrounds.

A very controversial contemporary problem that many of us may face in our lives is racism. It has stemmed from the abhorration of a many ancestors and sparked many people today. Someone who advocates racism would view racism as a part of history and that it is unalterable. In the streets, you may even find marches and rallies that are for or against racism and its supporters. Being as disputable as it is, conflict is an unavoidable result that cannot be deterred in this scenario. In our latter-day society, compared to the majority of the population that promote anti-racism, only a handful of people are still pro-racism. Any interactionist would be able to at least understand the importance of ridding the thoughts and ideas behind racism. But, on the other hand, people may see this differently than others; it is thought of in many religions you can not have a society that does not recognize both the good and the bad. In this case, anti-racism has taken the form of the good while pro-racism has taken the latter.

One major contemporary social problem that many face is gender equality. The perspective of a functionalist would view this as a form that gender inequalities exist as an efficient way to create labor division or a social system in which particular segments of the population is responsible for certain acts. A proponent of theory conflict would argue that the only reason these roles persists is because the dominant group works to maintain power and status. An interactionist perspective believes that gender inequality exists because the way people act toward each other based of the meaning they have for one another. They also believe that these meanings are derived through social interaction and these meanings are transformed and managed by people using an interpretive process to make sense of, and handle the objects that compose their social worlds.
Populations are considered at greater health risk when there is high child and infant mortality. Brain development in infants and young children requires dietary resources to ensure cognitive development. Health disparities result in infectious disease being more prevalent among the poor.

There are a few similarities and differences between the American culture and the Chinese culture. One that strikes me the most is that they value their elders dearly. Although we all know that different cultures have ways on managing traditions and also have separate approach to aging. In the Chinese culture, respecting the elderly is actually a law that everybody follows (Sung, 2000). They value their elders and practice honor in terms of dealing with them. The American culture however, has a different approach to this. Rapidly growing senior living communities are filled with elders and are left there. With both having different approaches to family, I believe that Americans are more independent versus Chinese people who values tradition throughout every generation.
Family Roles & Organization
Family roles in the Chinese culture are more precise than the American culture. Chinese family roles are followed by which fathers being the head of the family are known to provide and take care of their children (Hu, & Scott, 2014). On the other hand, the American culture is on the broad side for being modeled in different figures and sizes. Some of which are single parent, multiple parent, or have an extended family member. Although viewed differently, both cultures still value family with respect and dignity considering the factors affecting the situation.
High-Risk Behaviors
In the American culture it is known that a few numbers of people are open to the reality of any high-risk behaviors. The approach is openly discussed and treatment is readily available. In the Chinese culture, it is discourage to display any signs of negative emotions thus can mean displaying a personal weakness. In terms of coping with any high-risk behaviors, it is hard for the Chinese culture to express their feelings towards something because of the shame and fear that they can get from other people (Guo et. al, 2019).

This article is about social isolation and food insecurity among the rural old people in Kenya. The Kenya policy on aging (2008) sets a framework of addressing the welfare of the aged. The cradle of this policy is twofold: One is the emerging trend of diminishing roles of the elderly people in contributing to national income and two is the weakening of the traditional social structures which provided for welfare including welfare services for the aged. The study sought to answer the following specifi c questions: To want extent are the rural old socially connected? And what is the level of Food Security for rural citizens aged 60 and above? The objectives of the study were to determine the social networks and therefore, social capital citizens aged 60 and above have and to assess the level of Food Security of
rural citizens aged 60 and above. A total of 117 elderly people (age 60 and above) were randomly sampled. Data was collected using. interview a schedules which was designed to capture information on social isolation and sources of food consumed. To test Food Security level, a modifi ed Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) score was used. The fi ndings of this study was that only 43 percent of the old people are living with a relative in the same house. The rest (57) where living alone. It was established that 82 percent purchased
food from the market. On food consumption there was 100 percent skewness towards grains and cereals (every person reported to be consuming this on a daily basis). Someone who advocates racism would view racism as a part of history and that it is unalterable. In the streets, you may even find marches and rallies that are for or against racism and its supporters. Being as disputable as it is, conflict is an unavoidable result that cannot be deterred in this scenario. In our latter-day society, compared to the majority of the population that promote anti-racism, only a handful of people are still pro-racism. Any interactionist would be able to at least understand the importance of ridding the thoughts and ideas behind racism. But, on the other hand, people may see this differently than others; it is thought of in many religions you can not have a society that does not recognize both the good and the bad. The perspective of a functionalist would view this as a form that gender inequalities exist as an efficient way to create labor division or a social system in which particular segments of the population is responsible for certain acts. A proponent of theory conflict would argue that the only reason these roles persists is because the dominant group works to maintain power and status. An interactionist perspective believes that gender inequality exists because the way people act toward each other based of the meaning they have for one another. There are a few similarities and differences between the American culture and the Chinese culture. One that strikes me the most is that they value their elders dearly. Although we all know that different cultures have ways on managing traditions and also have separate approach to aging. In the Chinese culture, respecting the elderly is actually a law that everybody follows (Sung, 2000). They value their elders and practice honor in terms of dealing with them. The American culture however, has a different approach to this. Rapidly growing senior living communities are filled with elders and are left there. With both having different approaches to family, I believe that Americans are more independent versus Chinese people who values tradition throughout every generation.
Family Roles & Organization
Family roles in the Chinese culture are more precise than the American culture. Chinese family roles are followed by which fathers being the head of the family are known to provide and take care of their children (Hu, & Scott, 2014). On the other hand, the American culture is on the broad side for being modeled in different figures and sizes. Some of which are single parent, multiple parent, or have an extended family member. Although viewed differently, both cultures still value family with respect and dignity considering the factors affecting the situation.
High-Risk Behaviors
In the American culture it is known that a few numbers of people are open to the reality of any high-risk behaviors. The approach is openly discussed and treatment is readily available. In the Chinese culture, it is discourage to display any signs of negative emotions thus can mean displaying a personal weakness. In terms of coping with any high-risk behaviors, it is hard for the Chinese culture to express their feelings towards something because of the shame and fear that they can get from other people (Guo et. al, 2019).

This article is about social isolation and food insecurity among the rural old people in Kenya. The Kenya policy on aging (2008) sets a framework of addressing the welfare of the aged. The cradle of this policy is twofold: One is the emerging trend of diminishing roles of the elderly people in contributing to national income and two is the weakening of the traditional social structures which provided for welfare including welfare services for the aged. The study sought to answer the following specifi c questions: To want extent are the rural old socially connected? And what is the level of Food Security for rural citizens aged 60 and above? The objectives of the study were to determine the social networks and therefore, social capital citizens aged 60 and above have and to assess the level of Food Security of
rural citizens aged 60 and above. A total of 117 elderly people (age 60 and above) were randomly sampled. Data was collected using. interview a schedules which was designed to capture information on social isolation and sources of food consumed. To test Food Security level, a modifi ed Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) score was used. The fi ndings of this study was that only 43 percent of the old people are living with a relative in the same house. The rest (57) where living alone. It was established that 82 percent purchased
food from the market. On food consumption there was 100 percent skewness towards grains and cereals (every person reported to be consuming this on a daily basis). I have a class of third graders and my current load consist of three Intellectually disabled students, four emotionally disturbed students and four other health related. They all require me to do pull-out minutes daily. I have two of them that sleep most of the day. One is homeless and the other the parents are involved but there are three other disabled brothers with the same issues. I have six of them that fight very often of which two are female. Consider, hypothetically, a small community called Plainsville, Colorado, which has a critical rail line running through it. On this line, hazardous chemicals are routinely transported en route to a neighboring community (Southtown) where they are crucial for industrial use in manufacturing a certain type of nuclear defect x-ray material that is made nowhere else in the world. The rail line was first laid in the late 1800s and has been patchily maintained over its life.
Given new priorities through Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Grant Programs and state mandates, both the Plainsville community leaders and operators of the railway are concerned with increasing vulnerabilities associated with rail transport because there is evidence of structural decline due to its age and uneven maintenance. Serious damage to, or degradation of, the line in the vicinity of Plainsville might be catastrophic with worst-case consequences including: irreparable destruction of the rail; a train derailment; a chemical spill; the creation of a hazardous environment for people, livestock, and agriculture; disruption of the industrial manufacturing in Southland; and the possible economic crippling of the entire area. Any of these components alone could result in a crisis; yet a combination of these, or if combined in totality, would be a scenario considered unimaginable by Plainsville’s leadership and emergency management personnel.
By way of background, Plainsville has a "strong" mayor, meaning she is elected by the people rather than chosen by a council, etc. Based upon DHS grant dollars that have trickled down through her state and all-hazards homeland security region, Mayor Witley has determined that a commission in the form of a short-term task force should look at the vulnerabilities associated with the rail line. The commission would take the scenario outlined above, consider its many variations, study possible consequences while articulating and researching the problem(s) and receiving testimony from experts, and then make recommendations about courses of action to prevent, mitigate, or respond to any resultant crisis.
The issues at hand for the community include the integrity of the rail line, the prevention of a hazardous spill, the safety of the citizens, and the continuity of the neighboring town’s industry. (More issues may exist, but this gets you started.)
Consider and list at least 10 potential organizations that would either provide a representative to sit on the commission or that would provide information to the commission.
When listing each partner, describe his, her, or its value to the commission and what expectations the mayor (and others) might have as to the expertise, capabilities, resources, or anything else an individual or agency might contribute.
Choose the most relevant entities or individual experts you can, and think about everything from a public safety and emergency management perspective.
