There are three cultural products I have viewed, read, or otherwise interacted that
are examples of distinct forms of mass media. The first, is a weekly television show
that airs on NBC called This Is Us, another is a national broadcast which Pastor Joel
Olsteen preaches which airs networks on USA and TBN, and lastly the infamous
President Donald Trump and the American people, versus the National Football
League. These three cultural products/issues are examples of mass media, however
some of them are cleverly written dialog for television which millions of viewers
engage in and some are web based material which have gone viral for millions of
viewer s entertainment and/or are sources of information.

given me different perspectives on family engagements and family dynamics, based

The downfall of Enron also illustrates both the importance of corporate governance to
corporate performance, and the inherent susceptibility to corruption present in any
system of corporate governance. Further, from an international perspective, one is
tempted to ask whether the Enron debacle could happen in Europe or Japan or

governance. I have three observations to make on this issue. First and foremost, the
Enron fiasco demonstrates the acute pressure felt by U.S. corporate management to

earnings, was prompted only in 1997 when Enron came under significant pressure

Dialectic of Enlightenment co authored by Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno is
certainly a strange book. First published in 1947, it is largely made up from the notes
taken by Adorno s wife during discussions between Horkheimer and him. Attempting
to conceptualize the self destructing process of Enlightenment, the transcendent
theme brought forth by the authors related to the disintegration of reason. More

manifestation of complete domination in cultural production, are both symptoms of
the current prevailing mode of rationality. Glancing over this 70 year old theoretical
book, one may interpret the pessimistic world views held in Dialectic of

The Changing Tragedy of Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, and Desire under the Elms
Tragedy can easily be considered the greatest of all genres due to the fact that it
has withstood the test of time. Formally, tragedy employs something more complex
than other genres. It is not part of a life full of happy endings. It is part of a bigger
system of things. It is part of who we are. Perhaps tragedy is simply the art that truly

On a basic level, the characters are of a higher status in society. Even though the
characters in Desire under the Elms are farmers, based on the jealous reactions of the
other townspeople at the party and the sheriffs envious, open admiration of the farm,
they are of a higher rank in that particular social structure. The audience, not only
expects a resolution to the problem at hand, they also expect the characters to meet
some sort of tragic end. This is certainly the case in the three plays studied thus far.
The Oedipal Complex is best defined by Iokaste in Oedipus Rex when she exclaims,
how many men, in dreams, have lain with their mothers! Freud s theory examines the
desire of all sons to kill their fathers so that they can have the mother to themselves.
The basic premise is shown in all three plays in varying degrees. In the Oedipus
Complex s namesake, Oedipus actually murders his father and marries his mother. In
Hamlet, the lack of stage directions enables the director to take liberties with the
scene in Gertrude s bedroom. Desire under the Elms possibly has the most bizarre
construct of the Oedipus Complex through, not only the mother/lover relationship of
Eban and Abbie, but through the father/daughter relationship of Cabot and Abbie. As

Stereotypes and misconceptions are often mistaken to mean the same thing.
Stereotypes are groups of people who are looked at in a way because people in their
group act a certain way, based on truth but is exaggerated. Although, misconceptions
are formed from stereotypes, they are simply untrue assumptions. Women inherently

Skinny girls are often viewed as girls who don t eat enough simply because they
are thinner than the average girl. Although the individual may seem she doesn t eat
enough, that is a misconception. Most girls will eat just about anything such as
junk food to healthy food. This is where metabolism comes to play a part.
Metabolism is the chemical process in the body which converts what someone eats
or drinks into energy. Granting all of this, there is a large number of girls who do
not eat enough because they are frightened of gaining weight, but most of them just
have a fast metabolism usually meaning it is easier for these individuals to lose
weight and maintain it. Genetics is another reason why these girls may have the
petite body they have. In the article Why Do Some People Have A Fast Metabolism
the author, Craig Ballantyne, mentions that there are three different body types. The
mesomorphs are the type of bodies athletes have. Endomorphs are those of bigger
bodies. Finally, ectomorphs is the type of body a very thin person has. Craig
Ballantyne states, They are often thin with small shoulders, very little muscle mass,
and a delicate frame. Ectomorphs have a very difficult time gaining weight and
