Mammography Research Papers
One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of an entire
lifetime. Statistics show that individual risks may double if a first degree relative has been
diagnosed with breast cancer (Breast Cancer Risk and Risk Factors, 2016). My risks are doubled
as my maternal grandmother had breastcancer. My passion for radiology coupled with my personal
risk of breast cancerhas influenced my desire to pursue a career in mammography. Mammography
is a non invasive radiographic modality performed to image tissues of the breast to detect
abnormalities of the breast tissue and provide a diagnosis. Breast cancer is the second leading
cause of death in woman. The best defense against breast cancer is early detection with regular
mammograms (Bontrager, 2014, 248). Mammography uses a low dose of ionizing radiation to
image and detect breast tissue abnormalities, and is most often used in conjunction with ultrasound,
nuclear medicine, MRI and PET scans. Mammograms use a low kV and high mAs, therefore
radiation dose is substantial to patients tissues. Women are not the only gender to have a

Hollywood Writers And Directors Do Not Have Essay
Hollywood writers and directors do not have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic
characters A successful movie is decided by gross revenue of the movie. Most writers and
directors base on the world s histories, the reality society, and the favorite people s style to make
their successful movies. Indeed, the writers are responsible for writing the script. Once they have
handed over the script that is pretty much the end of their creative involvement with the movie. The
directors control films artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualizes the script while guiding the
technical crew and actors in the fulfillment of that vision. The director has a key role in choosing
the cast members, production design, and the creative aspects of filmmaking. Therefore, the writers
and the directors are the most important people who make a successful movie. Even though, the
writers and the directors are the main people who create the content of the film, they do not have a
responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters in the movie because it is just the connection
between the audiences and the actors or actress, it is the way to increase the business of
filmmakers and the writers, and it is just the way to review the world s history. Although, the
writers and the directors are the main people who create the content of the film, they do not have a

From: Pete xxxxx В– V.P. of Organizational Development
As the new Vice President of Organizational Development, I look forward to the upcoming
challenges concerning developing the Organizational Development department. I anticipate
exciting times ahead as we pursue a new course with the development of a new product based on
our current retinal scanning technology.
It is apparent from the recent Scanner s Weekly and a Memo I received, that this company is at a

solicited information from all parties involved to make an informed consensus as to what is really

Arguments:
Cliff O Connor: Argument made by Cliff that a new product would recapture our position as a
market leader with our technology. Cliff further argues that Pat s creativity is what AcuScan needs
right now. Sees Operation Optimize as not very different from the iScanner product and believes
all managers realize the need for a new product to expand revenues. Pat Lambert: Argues that
iScanner should be modified and launched in a new, non vertical market, only solution for long
term growth in revenue. Pat argues that Kelly initially stated it is simple to build on existing
applications. Finally, Pat also argues for additional money, for an outside contractor to complete the
product on time. Kelly Thomas: Kelly argued that new product was more complicated to develop
than the other managers could comprehend. Kelly believes company is rushing to develop new
product, at the expense of quality; thus possibly damaging his teams and company s reputation.
Chris Martinas: Arguments were the company must expand into other vertical markets. He also
believed they needed to act quickly or risk losing any advantage in the new market. Lastly, agrees
with Pat that new product will save the company.
Analysis of Arguments: Cliff s argument for an additional means of revenue is logical but his
approach, developing a new product when the

Comparing The Tibetan Mandala And The Navajo Sand Paintings
In comparing The Tibetan Mandala and the Navajo Sand painting the sand drawings are from
different cultures, yet their purpose is the same. A better understanding and appreciation comes
with looking at these works.
The Tibetans and the Navajo Native Americans are from different cultures. The Tibetan s have lived
intertwined with China for centuries. They tried to free themselves from China rules yet they
failed. The 14th Dalai Lama fled China and found exile in India. China to this day has total control
over Tibetan people. Using all the tools of repression to deter and punish Tibetan resistance as
stated on Free Tibet. The people of Tibet are dedicated to the Dalai Lama. The monks and nuns play
a vital part in the community, furthermore they are viewed as teachers and mentors. The Chinese
did not want the Dalai Lama to have the followers that he had. If a person how any paraphernalia of
the Dalai Lama could lead to their incarceration and or torture. The Chinese monitors and controls
the religious aspects in Tibet. Consequently, the Chinese government found the devotion of the
Tibetans to the Dalai Lama as a danger to their political goals. By way of contrast with the conflict
with the Chinese government, the monks live a simple life. The Tibetan monks believes in the
liberation of all being, personal enlightenment, compassion and nature around us.
Next, there is the Navajo Native Americans that also had issues with the American government.

Lewis Life Span Observation
On October 5, 2016, our Life Span Development class had the opportunity to observe the
physical, cognitive, and social development of Lewis, a three month old male infant. The
observation was conducted at Dordt College in Room CL 1143 and the infant s parent consented
to participate in the live observation. From the instant that Lewis and his mother walked into the
classroom, the pair exemplified Santrock s concept of bonding (Santrock, 2014). The front facing
carrier sling allowed the infant to benefit from the physical contact of being secured against his
mother s chest. The carrying device also served to satisfy what Freud would call the Oral Stage, as
he theorized that infants become attached to the person or object that provides them... Show more

Lewis didn t show any signs of a reflexive or a social smile during the observation, but his mother
said that he is easily able to giggle in response to external stimuli in various forms (Santrock,
2014). Lewis is exposed to ample stimuli for social development that not all infants his age have
the opportunity to be experienced by like he does. This factor comes in the form of his lifestyle
with two older siblings, as described by Santrock on page 179 (Santrock, 2014). Birth order might
be a strong predictor of behavior, contributing to why Lewis s temperament was described as
extremely laid back, a quality that wasn t as prevalent in his other siblings (Santrock, 2014, p. 179).
Perhaps because of his naturally high exposure to social stimuli, Lewis displayed a healthy reaction
to the Strange Situation, defined by Santrock as, a measure of infant attachment in which the infant
experiences a series of introductions, separations, and reunions with the caregiver. When Lewis s
mother handed him to a student, thus causing an object permanence discrepancy in which his
mother disappeared and he was abruptly exposed to a stranger, Lewis still remained calmly

Gilgamesh and Enkidu are obviously doubles of each other, but yet they still manage to inspire
Gilgamesh to become a better leader. Gilgamesh is the King who is known by everyone and
seems to have a lot of power and influence over everyone and Enkidu is the same way, only in the
beginning he wasn t known and was a threat by huntsmen and other people. Both Gilgamesh and
Enkiduare two of the strongest men that people recognize and intelligent. They both have the
arrogant personality of knowing how special that they truly are. Even though Gilgamesh beats
Enkidu in their fight that they have, they decide to be friends with each other while

The Fascination Effects Of Music On The Human Mind
The Fascination Effects of Music on the Human Mind; Framing Intuition and Perception
From ancient times, music has held great importance to cultures all over the world. Music
remains one language that is ever evolving; it refuses to die away. From that day almost 40,000
years ago, one of the first musicians picked up a vulture s bone and decided to make a flute out of
it, till this day, music has held a power that no other language will ever hold. The importance of
music has indeed waxed greater and greater through the centuries. From its use for story telling,
ceremonial purposes, social and religious practices, etc, there has been a great expansion of its
uses. Majority of the masses do not realize this, but music has become an unavoidable part of our
daily lives. With its use in movies, advertisement, shopping centers, elevators, buses, etc, not a day
goes by without each person hearing some kind of music. As its forms have expanded so have its
uses. Its undeniable effects over the human mind have not gone unrecognized by researchers and
scientists. Music is a much more extremely powerful tool than the masses realize, it has the ability
to influence and frame one s decisions, intuition, mood, interpretation and overall perception of
things. It s constant use in advertisement and film sheds a great deal of light on this. With the
countless numbers of research and experiments used to prove this fact, it is no wonder advertisers
and movie makers have capitalized on it.

The Synthesis Of Apomorphine Was Historically Accomplished...
Introduction: Apomorphine has been used as far back as 2000 BC. In 2000 BC the Mayan s
noticed that the bulb and root of water lilies gave a narcotic feeling, as well as acted as an
aphrodisiac and partial hallucinogen.1 Apomorphine belongs to a class of molecules called
aporphines which are present in water lilies, more specifically in Nymphaea caerulea and
Nymphaea ampla.1 While mild effects were shown in parts of water lilies, scientists wanted to
know what exactly caused these effects. The compounds were isolated and tested to determine that
apomorphine was the most active ingredient. The concentration of apomorphine was so low in the
plants that isolation was impractical so a synthesis was designed to investigate the properties of
apomorphine further; leading to apomorphine being used for Parkinson s disease, erectile
dysfunction, and most recently Alzheimer disease.
Synthesis2: The synthesis of apomorphine was historically accomplished by an acid catalyzed
rearrangement of morphine. This method typically had low and varying yields: anywhere from
0.6% to 46% yield. In 2008, a new synthesis was patented that shown yields as high as 55% to
70% yield. This new synthesis, scheme 1, uses phosphoric acid as the catalyst and phosphorus
pentoxide as a water scavenger water is the by product of the reaction and the phosphorus
pentoxide irreversibly binds to the water. The solution would then be heated to 90 100в„ѓ in an
inert atmosphere for two hours.

Green Mountain High School Research Paper
Off Period
Most freshmen at Green Mountain High School could greatly benefit by having an off period I
sure would! High Schools need to make changes to the freshmen schedule to accommodate for an
off period so that freshmen are less stressed, have more quality time to do their work, and show up
on time more often. If students want more credits or have to take an extra class then, they can
choose to have an off period.
Each teacher in each period expects your best until dismissal. Having seven classes give you
projects to do at home and work to be done in class with possible tests coming up is stressful for a
freshman who just came from a middle school and is just getting into the motions of high school.

At home, or elsewhere, students may not feel like doing homework and instead play games, hang
out with friends, go online, or anything else. A paper that would normally take an hour could
take two or more at home. Frustration from not knowing what to do or having too much to do
could cause a one to disdain homework in general or from a specific teacher resulting in giving
up on that class/s. Students that don t have access to the internet and have to type a paper or
research could utilize the time that an off period gives, especially during block days when periods
are 90 minutes long. Off periods not only give pure work time, but allows more time to do
necessary tasks before, during, and after school.
It is incontrovertible that not everyone is a morning person or can get to school on time without
any complications, so if freshmen who are frequently tardy could get first period off, then that
would give them more time to sleep, to get to school, and to get ready for the day as their brains
might start working later in the day. Students with siblings that need to get to other schools which
are far away could have plausible difficulty arriving on time as it is common that schools start

me to look at the colors and make sure they all coordinate; those were both things I didn t think

Similarities Between Hamlet And A Fine Balance
Finding Your Purpose
The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without
fear for newer and richer experience (Eleanor Roosevelt). Experience in our lives help shape us
into people we are today. In the novels, Hamlet by William Shakespeare and A Fine Balance by
Rohinton Mistry the characters are presented with difficulties due to the effects of the emergency.
The aftermath of being in a state of emergency results in the countries of Denmark and India
experiencing corrupt government, death and violence, forcing the characters to find the purpose for
their lives.
After living in a state of emergency, Hamletand Dina use the effects of corrupt government to
realize their purpose in life. In Hamlet, King Hamlet is killed by Claudius so that he can become
the king of Denmark, and young Hamlet is left reeling with grief. Hamlet uses his grief to avenge
his father and expose Claudius for corrupting the government of Denmark. Hamlet promises his
father,
Haste me to know t, that I, with wings as swift /As meditation or the thoughts of love, / May
sweep to my revenge (Shakespeare, 1.5. 29 31).
Instead of being held back by his grief, Hamlet turns his anger into something positive by revealing
Claudius true character to Denmark. Hamlet s reaction to the murder of his father helps him to find
his purpose in life, by freeing Denmark from the corrupt government. Similar to Hamlet, in A Fine
Balance, the characters and other

The Interior Of A Formal Courtroom
The interior of a formal courtroom glistens in a sepia hue. The bench overlooks the room, with
herringbone flags representing their country. A bar harshly splits the room while oak tables rot as
they pay homage to the solemn victors. Dueling jury boxes frame the edges of the room their
panels demarcated by sharp bezels and accompanied by stern lecterns varnished an undistinguished
gray.
Mirroring benches lay vacant, with the exception of two overwrought neighbors and one anguished
woman holding her 6 month old child. A corona of incandescence emphasises the indents separating
each weathered stave along the wall. Walking sounds can be heard through the left wall of the
courtroom.
[Two men enter through the leftmost door, Mark Wallace, J.D. and Stanley Kowalski

about thirty years old, sharply dressed in black formalwear. Mr. Wallace carries an ebony suitcase
overflowing with folders and documents. Stanley, guided by the hand of Mr. Wallace, stands
shoulder to shoulder with his defence attorney. Seconds later the other side of the room mirrors the
men s actions; Blanche, a fragile woman in her thirties, enters the room accompanied by her
prosecutor, Ella Stone. Mrs. Stone withers with age as she struggles to cling on to the many folders
in hand. Judge Ruth Anthony sits herself center bench, accompanied by Bailiff Scott. She scans the

Immigration Patterns In Australia Essay
Background
To provide a context for this study, it is necessary to understand Australia s changing immigration
patterns. From its earliest occupation, Australia has attracted immigrants globally, Australia has had
a long history of immigration since the first European settlement in the 1700s. People from all parts
of the world have brought with them, their cultures, customs and languages (Creswell, 2004).
Western Australiais the fastest growing state in Australia and the dynamics of this population

National Peace and Security
Security is everywhere. It is needed for virtually everything that is accessed today. From starting
your car, to logging onto Facebook, to clocking in at work, security is always present. One of the
most noticeable forms of security is the police and the Army. They are the security for the country,
both for internal and external threats. Police are more internal security, dealing with crimes caused
by the general population. Army deals with outside threats, by addressing situations that are
overseas that can cause harm to those within the States. To protect from these threats, the security
appears to look intimidating, due to powerful weapons and armor placed upon the person.
However, when this happens, a side effect occurs, where the civilians may become scared of the
force, and begin to distrust the security, and also began to fear corruption. To be able to stop this
side effect from happening, the security sector reformation must find the corrupt who cause the
distrust and fear to occur, and end it. The way to best reform the security sector within societies
within transition is by finding and removing the corrupt, and by doing that, you will raise faith in
the security sector by the people. High Commissioner for Human RightsNavi Pillay says in an 2011
Human Rights Council I call on all those in positions of authority to take steps to prevent the
commission of crimes or acts of revenge, and for other concerned parties to strongly refrain from

High Credit Scores
In the United States, the higher credit scores means higher opportunities. You can be considered
lucky to have and maintain a high credit score compared to those who have incurred no credits at
all. Having a high credit score means a good reputation since people do believe that having it
means you are a responsible citizen.
Who does not want to gain a good reputation? If you wish to be approved on loans applied, then
avoid the following:
1. No credit score.
Even if you are good at handling your finances, but by not having a credit score, lending institutions
will not have a basis to refer to. Having a credit score is the same as having a financial history
where lending institutions can determine your credit worthiness. With credit scores, the lender can
find out your financial background, current and previous loans taken, down payments you have

first step and start chasing creditors for giving them a chance to prove their honesty. Your poor

Don T-Stop Believing Poem Meaning
Some will win / Some will lose / Some were born to sing the blues (Journey lines 24 26), and
some were born to be poets. In this case, it is Maggie Smith s Good Bones and Journey s Don t
Stop Believing that serve as great examples to that. All poetry, including songs, are artistic in one

Repetition is a pretty basic poetry device that just repeated words or phrases to emphasize their
importance. Metaphors on the other hand are a thing that can make ideas go above and beyond.
According to Dr. Peter Fuda metaphors make big, complex things simple and are more familiar
(Fuda 1). That is why they are so vital in making these two works good. Repetition especially in
Good Bones is used a lot for little parts of the poem that make them stand out, and show
importance. Maggie Smith repeats Life is short twice back to back (lines 1 2). Also at the end
when she makes her biggest point and repeats This place could be beautiful / right? You could
make this place beautiful (Smith lines 16 17). She wants people to see that for the repetition of
all the negative aspects of life, there is also the good which is why she repeats this key phrase and
the end of the poem. Journey s use of repetition is a little different and broad in the fact that it is
the chorus that repeats. Although it is a longer text it still is an important part which is why they

Discussion Questions for
The Stranger (1946); translated by Matthew Ward, 1988.
Part One
Chapter 1.
1. How does Camus set up Meursault s personality how does Meursault respond to others
conversation, to ordinary social situations, and to the death of his mother?
2. On page 10, Meursault says that at the viewing of his mother, he felt as if the elderly people there
were judging him. Offer a conjecture about why he might have had that feeling. (It is worth paying
attention to such references to judgment because they occur several times throughout the work.)
3. From 14 18, how does Meursault describe the funeral procession why was it a difficult
experience for him? How does he say he felt after the burial was concluded? Do his ... Show more

2. If you were a jury member and therefore were not a reader of Meursault s own narration of his
behavior would you find the prosecutor s story about Meursault convincing? Would you buy his
defense attorney s story? Explain.
3. The prosecuting attorney describes Meursault s heart as an abyss threatening to swallow up
society (101), and on 102 he even accuses Meursault of the parricide supposedly committed by the
next defendant to be tried in the same courtroom. How do you interpret these strange claims what
threat might Meursault be said to pose to civilized society even beyond the rather common crime he
has committed?
Chapter 5.
1. On page 109, Meursault says after his death sentence has been pronounced that there really was
something ridiculously out of proportion between the verdict such certainty was based on and the
imperturbable march of events from the moment the verdict was announced. How does this
comment address the strong need manifested in social and legal institutions to attain certainty about
people and events?
2. Why does Meursault become so upset with the priest who comes to visit him in his cell? What is
the priest trying to make him do?
3. To what extent does Meursault accept his fate? How does he arrive at his final understanding of
his situation, and how would you describe that understanding?

Literary Devices In The Book Thief
Promp 2 Liesel Meminger was a girl that went through a lot throughout her life. During our short
time of reading about her life we saw her go through so many emotions, struggles, and different
changes. Throughout The Book Thief by Markus Zusak we see a girls story during the time of
WW2 and the Holocaust. We read this story of Liesel Meminger and wonder how anyone could
ever survive during a time like this, because for most people this was an extremely awful time to
live in. But through his use of imagery, and other literary devices, Zukas found a way to write a
perfect book describing this girl s life and to show how genuinely hard it was to live during this
time. One of the first things we see Liesel going through is the separation of her and her mother.
Which leads to her also losing her brother due to the fact that he died during their journey to
Liesel s new home. This was one of Liesel s obstacles as when she says There was a chaos of
goodbyes. . At first this may not look like it would be a gigantic obstacle by how it was worded.
But once you read into the context of the sentence and take in how Zukas worded it to fill your
mind with the imagery of Liesel s thoughts you see how hard this is for her. Her brother has just
died, and on the same day that she realizes she will never see him again she is forced away from
her mother and she will also never see her mother again. During this time of the book this might
have been something that happened a lot, but

Kerberos Essay
Kerberos and Firewalls
Kerberos
Kerberos is defined as an authentication protocol combined with a suite used in implementing the
software (Nicola Aargau). The authentication protocol has its name derived from the three headed
dog in the Greek mythology used for guarding the entrance to the underworld. The protocol
involves three entities; the first two are aimed at authenticating one another i.e. the resource center
and user while the third party acts as the key distribution center or the mediator between the two
keys.
Kerberos authentication protocol is based on symmetric key cryptography where the key used for
encryption and decryption is the same. The formula for the protocol is
DK (E K(M)) = M
Where D stands for decryption, K stands for the key, E stands for encryption, M stands for
encrypted text. In case the key is the same for both encryption and decryption procedures, the
decryption process leads to the same plain text as the original text before encryption.
The key distribution center comprises of two components, integrated into one server. These
components are the authentication server and the ticket granting server. Considering three entities,
that is, the resource center, client and user Z, the request and authentication process works in the
following way. The user Z feeds in a username and password into the client machine, which is
encrypted to form a secret key. The user Z through the client then contacts the authentication server,
which in turn sends the

Claude Monet And Van Gogh
Impressionism began in the mid 1800 s while Paris was the artistic capital of Europe. While
Impressionism was rejected by the Salon de Paris, numerous artists grouped together so they could
finally paint what they wanted to paint. Impressionists broke away from traditional artists who
covered their canvas with dark undercoats versus the Impressionists painted on a white or cream
colored background for a brighter look. What attracted many to impressionismpaintings was the
shift from paintings focused on religious beliefs, historical moments, and influential people to art
that emphasized both beauty and feelings. Two of the most well known impressionist artists are

My Family At The United States
Just like any other immigrants coming to the United States, my family was in search for a better
life. My parents both came from Asia; my dad was from China and my mom was from Japan.
Being a first generation American, I was considered Nisei. I lived in San Jose California and
stayed there my whole life. My parents were hard working people and showed me what it meant
to be truly American. I was an only child and was twelve years old when the United States was
attacked by the Japanese military. My dad owned a store and my mom helped Japanese people
come to America. She would provide temporary housing. I always remember playing with the kids
coming from Japan, I could never understand them but they were really nice. After a few months
they would pick up a few words. The neighborhood kids loved playing with them as well their
parents. Every now and then my familyand other Niseis would experience some forms of
discrimination, like waiting in lines longer at the movies, stores, and restaurants. Not to mention
that all kinds of cultures received the same treatment. But for some reason the African American
group had it a little harder than we did. After the attackon Pearl Harbor, my parents didn t let me
play outside. Our neighbors and close friends turned on us. They forbidden their children to play
with me at home and at school. At the time I didn t understand it. Also my dad would come home
earlier than usual from work. He would always tell me that he just wanted more father

The Epidemic Of Dengue Fever
The holiday season tends to attract Canadians to visiting warmer destinations in the hopes of
escaping our frigid winter weather. These warmer destinations, like the Caribbean, have much to
offer; with balmy tropical weather, hot beaches, ocean views, and plenty of sun. Unfortunately,
along with the luxuries of these areas comes with the risk of an array of tropical diseases, such as
dengue fever. The thought of contracting this illness is not ideal for the perfect winter getaway but
is beginning to become a somber reality with the dramatic increase of incidences in tropical
climates globally. Dengue fever, also historically known as break bone fever, is caused by the
dengue virusand is endemic in tropical areas around the world. If severe, the illness can progress
to more serious conditions, including dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome.
Dengue fever is emerging as a major global concern as an estimated 2.5 billion people are at risk
and an increasing trend in annual number of cases over recent reported years (1,2). The dengue
virus (DENV) is a small, positive, enveloped RNA virus about 40 50 nm in diameter. DENV
belongs to the genus flavivirus; a member of the Flaviviridae family (1). Its single stranded genome
codes for three structural proteins (capsid, precursor membrane, and envelope), and 7 non structural
proteins. There are four different serotypes of the virus, DENV 1 through DENV 4, that are all
antigenically and genetically different. Although

Justification of Caesar’s Assassination in Shakespeare s...
In 1599 the famous English writer, William Shakespeare, wrote the play The Tragedy of Julius
Caesar. The story takes place toward the end of the Roman Republic in 44 BC in Ancient Rome.
The play follows the words and actions of the Roman senators, plebeians and their emperor
Julius Caesar. As the story begins, readers find out the many of the senators are not pleased with
Caesar as a ruler of the Roman people. Two characters, Brutus and Cassius are especially
passionate about killing Caesar to end his rule. Through discussing plans and creating alliances,
the senators get their way and murder Caesar on the foreshadowed Ides of March. One question
that comes up while reading the play is was Caesar s assassination really justified by the
murderers? Although he did show signs of hubris, or excessive pride, Caesar s assassination by
the conspirators was not justified because their reasons were based on theories and biased
opinions, Caesar was a good man, and his murder was committed for the good of the people
killing him and not for the good of Rome. The killers assassinated Caesar without clear
justification and did it based on their own assumptions of him. Cassius says, Upon what meat
doth this our Caesar feed That he is grown so great? Age, thous art shame! Rome thous hast last
the breed of noble bloods! (Act I, scii, 150 153). Cassius is asking what is so great about Caesar
without saying what isn t great about him. One of Caesar s good friends, Brutus, claims he

Common Good Argument
Galston (2013) claims that idea of the common good has real content in theory and real utility in
practice , throughout his essay on the common good, he provides sufficient evidence to back his
main claim and he uses it to refute the arguments of others. He defines three key aspects of the
common good to support his claim of the common good having real content in theory , these
include: Inherently social goods, Social linkages and The good of the commons. Galston (2013)
then proceeds to give evidence on the concept of bargaining and the U.S. Constitution; he uses these

virtually impossible, because humor requires surprise , as a result, this allows us to make the
inference that there are certain aspects of life that require the company of others and without it,
the good (humor in this case) would be lost. Galston (2013) states that The good of the commons
is when how people behave in shared social spaces impacts others (p.11). If we carelessly leave
an unextinguished fire in a camp ground, the entire facility may go up in flames. (p.11), this shows
how the common good includes everyone s best interests and this example in fact shows that it

I.Preface
Being in a very high competitive business condition, a company has to be well prepared for every
potential business problem. One of the problems is for a company which will do such a business
expansion, they need to spend huge amount of money to make some new investments. For instance,
they need to have new capital assets to run their new business.
Due to the huge amount of money they have to spend, the company usually does not provide a

6.Lessor expects to obtain all of the carrying cost of the leased asset back, including the other costs

The advantages and disadvantages of leasing as an alternative of capital source are as follow
The advantages:
1.Full financing : leasing transaction is usually done without any down payment and the financing
can be given up to 100%
2.More flexible : leasing is said to be flexible compared to banking loan because the rental payment
can be arranged and matched to lessee ability
3.Off balance sheet : activa that is included into leasing category is not listed in the company asset
4.Consideration of technology advance : the company is avoided from the loss due to the fast
growth of technology
5.Incerase Debt Capacity
The disadvantages:
1.Force major
It is the cancellation of leasing transaction, for example due to a fire or natural disaster.
2.Default
It is the cancellation of leasing transaction because the lessee is not able to pay the lease payment
and other leasing liability so that finance lease contract is over prior the inception date.

Organizations and Their Ethics and Social Responsiblity Essay
Ethics and social responsibility are integral components in developing a strategic plan while

essential strategic concern within all organizations. Ethics and social responsibility has the
capacity to make or break an organization; the success of an organization s strategic plan is
dependent upon it. This paper will explain the role of ethicsand social responsibility in developing a

By doing so, the implications become an integral part of the organization s overall scope. It is
necessary for all organizations to integrate ethics into its strategic planning process in order to
represent its core values to internal and external parties in a positive manner; this will assist in
strengthening the organization s image (Jin Drozdenko, 2010). As a result, the majority of
stakeholders will have the assurance that the strategic plan serves their requirements and better
interests.
Corporate Social Responsibility in Organizations
Social responsibility is another integral component of a strategic plan. It is essential to integrate
corporate social responsibility within the daily operations of an organization. By doing so, it helps
ensure that the organization is moving toward the constant development and better interest of the
general public by attempting to reduce any potential negative impacts of its overall operations. As
such, corporate social responsibility is an integral method of gaining a competitive advantage
through the enhancement of its corporate image through the perspective of the stakeholders and
general public. Knowing this, more and more organizations are allocating additional resources in an
attempt to strengthen their commitment to society. This is commonly demonstrated in the
reduction of environmental pollution or assisting in providing financial resources for various social

Air Canada Five Forces Analysis
Porter s Five Forces is a simple but powerful tool that consist of 5 different forces to understand
the competitiveness of your business environment, and for identifying your strategy s potential
profitability. The five forces are degree of rivalry, threat of entry, threat of substitutions, buyer
power, and supplier power. Each force is helpful in their own way to get to know your rivals a lot
better and get to know what can happen in your market.
Air Canada
Force #1 Degree of Rivalry
The number of rivals that Air Canada would have would depend on the location of the airports. The
major competitors for Air Canada are American Airlines Group, Delta Air Lines
, WestJet Airlines,
and Porter Airlines. The quality of these other airlines depends on each of their planes, some of
Delta Air Lines planes are a lot bigger so they can offer a lot more than Air Canada. Air Canada
offers a lot of services as they have a lot of flights that fly from city to city in Canada unlike
Delta or American air lines. Air Canada competes a lot with WestJet and Porter airlines in Canada.
Rivalry is more intense at bigger airports around Canada. For example, Charlottetown only has
three different airlines that currently fly here every week. Where in Toronto they experience a lot
more air traffic so more airlines can offer better deals to fly somewhere from Toronto to anywhere
in the world where Charlottetown. If people in Charlottetown can find a better flight from Moncton

How Did King Henry Viii Change Over Time
481 years ago change was stirring in the court of King Henry the Eighth and The Roman
Catholic Church, this was no ordinary change though this kind of change is the kind that
changed religious history. Leading up the English reformation King Henry was married to
Catherine of Aragon and had many attempts at giving birth to a male heir as a result of this King
Henry began to tire of this married and looked elsewhere to Anne Boleyn and became what
historians refer to as infatuated with her, wanting an annulment Henry asked the Pope at the
time Clement VII to grant him one and utilized his knowledge of the Old Testament to give
reason to his request stating that Leviticus 20:16 said If a man shall take his brother s wife, it is
an impurity; he hath uncovered his brother s nakedness; they shall be childless Henry also
referred to his marriage with Catherine as blighted in the eyes of God However the pope did not
grant one because it goes against the Catholic faith, one underling reason is the fact that one of the
most powerful monarchs in Europe was Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor who s kingdom spanned
over Spain, Germany and Italy this accumulated to nearly 4 million square kilometers in land.
Charles was the nephew of Catherine and if an annulment was to occur it was likely that Charles
would take it to offence causing the Western Catholic

Social Media And Internet Privacy
It took the radio 38 years, the television 13 years, and the World Wide Web 4 years to reach 50
million users (Statistic Brain). As of September 2017, research now shows that there are over a
billion people worldwide who use the internet. People utilize the internet because it offers endless
unfettered access to copious quantities of diverse data. Statistics confirm that 58% of people have
at least one social network profile, revealing that social media plays a significant part in the internet
world. The reason for this is that social networks are portrayed as an ideal method to keep up with
family and friends; especially if those mentioned live far away. What the internet and social
networks doesn t reveal, but rather conceals, is the monstrous lack of secrecy they possess. Until
preventive methods are established by either the government or an individual; the internet will

Personal Statement For Dentistry
I am a naturally driven individual. I have always had an instinctual curiosity about the world
around us. My mother and father, who were both raised in rural Poland, showed me hard work
and commitment is the only way to find success in life. My mother came overseas alone to
support her family in Poland after her father passed, and my father came to the United States after
living and working on his parent s farm for ten years. My parents arrived in this country with next
to nothing, and fought tooth and nail to build a life and family. It is only through their perseverance
that I was able to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling childhood. As a result of having such
incredibly strong role models, I have become a motivated, thoughtful, independent young woman. I
may not have the personal connections and family influence in the field as some other applicants,
but that does not dilute my passion to pursue a career in dentistry. My self reliance has proved to me
that I can do anything I put my mind to, no matter who or what may stand in my way, and my
parents taught me that. It goes to show that even though I am working towards this career on my
own, since I do not have family or friends in dentistry to advise me, I am still just as dedicated to
my academic and extracurricular activities in the hopes of growing into a well rounded woman and
dentist. Upon recollecting what convinced me to pursue dentistry, I can pinpoint it to one specific

Romanticism, Realism and Local Color in The Awakening
Kate Chopin is an author who was born in 1851 and died in 1904. Her father died when she was
young, and her husband died when she was thirty one leaving her with six children. Due to this, she
had little male influence throughout her life. This may possibly be why she had so little inhibition
when writing her novels. She seemed to concentrate on the oppression of women and presented
socially unacceptable ideas at the time of their publication. Although Kate Chopin stirred up great
controversy in her time, today her novels, short stories, and poems are often regarded as great

need for freedom from the ties of life that hold her down and also her need for individuality. One
way she defies society is by leaving her home on Tuesdays, which are designated by Creole
tradition as stay at home and greet guests days. On several Tuesdays, Edna leaves home to walk
about town leaving her guests and husband disappointed. She searches to be an individual and not
conform to the standards of society. As written in the novel, She had all her life long been
accustomed to harbor thoughts and emotions which never voice themselves. They had never taken
the form of struggles. They belonged to her and were her own, and she entertained the conviction
that she had a right to them and that they concerned no one but herself. Edna had once told
Madame Ratignolle that she would never sacrifice herself for her children, or for any one (79).
Another example of Romanticism can be found in the way society treats life at the time. They are
oblivious, especially the women, to the limits of their lifestyle. The society present in The
Awakeningpaints a picture where they only see beautiful, vibrant colors. However, as Edna soon

Immigrant Parenting Styles
Past research has focused on parenting and child development in minority and immigrant families
as culturally deficient, however Perreria et al. (2006) study shows that among Latino immigrants,
the broader context of reception into their new communities shapes the societal factors that
influence their adaptation and parenting. Driscoll, Russell, and Crockett (2008) study focuses on the
four different types of parenting styles practiced by immigrant parents and their effects on the
children. The first type of parenting is permissive parenting in which parents are flexible with their
children but to a point that children have no major consequences for actions. In this parenting style
Driscoll et al. (2008) found that teens of immigrants who

Netflix vs. Blockbuster
Introduction Blockbuster opened in 1985 and in its first 20 years of business, the movie rental
giant opened 9.100 stores in 25 countries (Laudon, 2007, p. 121). Netflix launched in 1998 using a
new business model and became Blockbusters biggest threat. The paradigm shift in the rental
industry from having to travel to a store and rent a movie to being able to have a movie delivered
to your mailbox changed the way people think about media entertainment. The next shift will be
having the technology to download movies and shows directly to a television.
Analysis
Blockbuster and Netflix are using two different information system strategies. Blockbuster, which is
a traditional retail store with a physical location focused on creating ... Show more content on

Alternatives One of the biggest information technology hurdles that Blockbuster has to overcome
is the two separate systems dividing the online service and the physical stores. While not as
convenient as being able to order a movie from the comfort of your home and having it upload on
the TV, if Blockbuster integrates the two systems it will be an advantage to the overall strategy.
Microsoft and Netflix have unveiled a partnership under which Netflix will stream movies directly
to consumers through Microsoft s Internet based Xbox Live service (McDougall, 2008). This
strategy goes along with Netflix s original agenda: to increase customer convenience. Anyone who
is a Netflix subscriber and has an Xbox will be able to stream movies in the company library. This
service should launch in the autumn of 2008.
Closing While Blockbuster is trying to remain true to its origins and keep its core competence
of a physical video rental store, the future seems to be in the roles of companies able to cater to
consumer s busy life styles and need for convenience. Netflix, along with Apple and video on
demand, is working to make ordering movies and TV shows as simple and fast as possible.
Blockbuster needs to create a strategy that keeps at the front of the movie rental technology if it
doesn t want to lose customers to the convenience of not having to leave their homes.

My Passion Of Soccer
Everyone has that certain thing that makes them who they are. That certain thing for me is
soccer. It s my hobby, my biggest interest, and my passion. Soccer isn t just a sport for me, it s my
life. It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have played the intriguing game of
soccer since I was four years old, and I have loved it ever since.
I am known as a soccer player, which makes sense because it takes up most of my time, and that s
what I m all about. I ve been to Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri for soccer
tournaments or games. Since the leagues in the Kansas City area are much more competitive,
my family and I spend almost every weekend there due to games. I ve spent countless hours at
games and practices, as well as other workouts and fitness events to better myself as an individual
player. I have had to miss other social events with my friends because of my dedication to soccer. I
have even had to miss friday night football games because of prior soccer commitments, and I love
friday night lights. There are mornings after games and tournaments when I wake up sore, with
swollen, black and blue bruises from cleats or from collisions that happened during games, but I
wouldn t give up it up for anything.
Balancing soccer with all other aspects of my life gets a little challenging sometimes. From school
with homework, to all of the extracurricular activities that I am involved in, I rarely ever have a
free night. Between Link Crew,

Revolutionary War Disadvantages
time of struggle, the British Parliament passed the Stamp and Tea Act, the taxing upon any type of
paper and tea, to support the British army that is stationed in the Americas. Along with being taxed
by the British, the colonist had no representation, they weren t allowed to have a say. In result, the
colonist was angry which soon lead to consequences such as The Boston Massacre, and the Boston
Tea Party, where they would rebel against the British. Eventuallyguerrillathis lead to an immense
conflict between the colonist and the British Parliament, called The Revolutionary War. Through
the long hard fought battles, the Americans came out on top, after the Battle of Saratoga, the
turnover, the French has joined the Americans in the fight against Britain. Along with the battle, the
Americans had faced many hardships throughout the journey of the fight for independence, but at
the end, these advantages and disadvantages lead to the outcome of the Revolutionary War. To
begin, the Americans were in a good position during the Revolutionary War. To elaborate, the
British had to continue sending money, troops, and they had to constantly fund to maintain the
British army in the Americas. They even hired mercenary Germans called Hessians in order to
defeat the Americans. In 1775, the Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia to select
George Washington to lead the Patriots. In result, Americans in other sections of the colonies,

Assignment On The Greek Vessel
For the Greek Vessel Assignment, we were to choose one of the following vessels: an amphora,
a krater, a hydria, a kylix, a lekythos, or an oinochoe. I had chose to take on the task of the
oinochoe, which is a wine dish, with a narrow body, a spout and one handle. I chose to create the
oinochoe because my mother loves wineand loves my artwork, what better reasoning to combine
the two. For the Greek Vessel we had to solve one of three problems; 1. Make the container look
like what it s used for. 2. Make the container represent an artist you fancy. 3. Make the container an

Similarities Between Of Mice And Men
John Steinbeck is considered one of the great American authors. His novels centered on the
American landscape, particularly California. John Steinbeck s 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, is
a classic American novel about two ranch workers who struggle to keep their dream alive. In
1992, a MGM film adaptation directed by Gary Sinise was created. As with all book to film
adaptations, many people debate over which work is better. Some say that the book is better
because it creates a mood of darkness within the reader. Although both works convey their themes
well, Steinbeck s novel has more emotional impact on readers due to its setting and mood. The
novel s setting exceeds the film s because it is meaningful and symbolic. The author utilizes the

Characters are presented differently scene to scene to change the reader s perspective of them.
For example, in the film Curley s wife is depicted as a lonely housewife who is desperate to
leave her husband. Although this characterization is accurate, the novel provides a more
complex view of her because it shows how her frustration manifests itself in her treatment of
others. One instance of her pent up anger hurting others is when she verbally attacks Crooks.
She declares, Listen, Nigger... You know what I can do to you if you open your trap?...you keep
your place, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ain t even funny (Steinbeck, 79).
This moment of cruelty shows that Curley s wife has been corrupted by the evil of the world.
She hurts those who are lower than her on the social hierarchy because she believes doing so
will make people respect her. This shows that she is deeply insecure of her place in the world. The
reader comes to hate Curley s wife, until they learn more about her life. She monologues about her
dreams of becoming an actress before she dies, but her death is optimistic and bitter sweet. The
author states, ... the meanness and the plannings and the discontent and the ache for attention were

Question 2
Cost Volume Profit Analysis
1.0 Introduction
According to Jon Scheumann a successful organizations need a culture that is attuned to cost
management and pay attention to cost structure
From that statement manager must pay attention and carefully thinking when do decision making
to the cost. For example when manager want to target the profit. They must take every cost that
related in production such as variable cost and fix costs.

So when the firm done correctly to identify fixed and variable cost, it can do CVP analysis
correctly and manager can used the correct CVP analysis to make decision making.
2. In graph Cost are in straight line
Assume that fixed cost no change in any of range. Variable Cost is proportional and parallel to
the line revenue. So in the reality cost of behaviour not remain constant. It mean when we do
CVP analysis we must assume a straight line (constants) so when do a calculation it easy to
calculate the cost and make analysis. For example if we see in graph the cost is curve line it hard
to calculate the cost if the cost is out of range from the graph. So that why we must assume in
straight line so it easy to calculate and identify the cost even it out of range in graph.
3. Price is fixed for every volume was purchase/selling ( selling price/direct material)
When buy a lot of item, item we buy was offering/make a discount. These make a problem to
determine contribution margin ratio. Example normally when we buy/sell a lot of item we can
receive/give discount. Event we know that it hard to calculate when price always changes base on
the quantity item of we buy/sell. So in order to make easy calculation we must make assumption
fixed price every volume was purchase and selling and ignore the cost that give effect the change in
price and volume.
4. Variable cost is fix per unit not calculated based on volume produce
So when it calculated per unit it hard to

Examples Of The Transcendentalism Movement
Introduction The transcendentalism movement is a prominent example that resulted in change and
revolution in human history. A literary, religious, political and philosophical movement,
transcendentalism started in the mid 1830s and challenged the traditional views of society,
particularly those related to the established churches. The origins of transcendentalismdate back to
sixteenth and seventeenth century New England, when Puritanism first emerged as a call for
furthering perfection of the Protestant Reform (Bremer and Webster 13). Unitarians, successors of
Puritans, also initiated the transcendental movement and were conceived as mentors of many rising
transcendentalists (Grodzins 1). Eventually, these rising transcendentalists... Show more content on

Origins of Transcendentalism The emergence of transcendentalism is largely attributed to the
religious reform movement of Puritanism that began in the late sixteenth century in New England.
The foundational beliefs of Puritanism paralleled with those of Calvinism, and strongly contrasts
with those of the transcendentalists. For example, the Puritans emphasized theocracy based on the
bible, as well as salvation, material wealth, and man s dominance over nature. Contrastingly, the
transcendentalists believed in democracy based on intuition, the simplification of every day life,
and man being one with nature. Unitarianism also gave rise to transcendentalism, as the Unitarian
church took more of an anti Calvinist approach which appealed to the transcendentalists. The
founders of transcendentalism were Unitarian intellectuals of the middle and upper classes of
eastern Massachusetts, who took a strong interest in moral reform. Initially, they looked to
Unitarians as teachers, however, they eventually challenged the important principles of the
Unitarian church. These transcendentalists not only challenged the Unitarian doctrines that were
taught at Harvard Divinity School, but they protested against the general aspects of society and
intellectualism. Rather than through logic and the doctrines of established religions, the
transcendentalists believed that the spiritual state can only be accomplished through one s

The Healthcare Industry And The Roles Ict Plays As Well As...
Abstract: In the Last Decade advancements in information and communication Technologies (ICT)
has provided solutions to the problems in health care managements system ICTs. It has the
possibility to massively contribute to improving access and quality of services while containing
costs. Improving health involves improving public health and medical programs designed to
provide elective, emergency, and long term clinical care; educating people; improving nutrition and

It also has the potential to lead to better cost efficiency in the health sector. ICT can play a critical
role in improving health care for individuals and communities. It can also transform informal
regulation by providing people with the knowledge they require to challenge existing practices and
make more rational health care choices (Adeboyejo and Olatokun, 2009). Patients are empowered
to take more responsibility for their health and quality of life through the use of health ICT. Health
ICT allows the collaboration and involvement of patients and healthcare providers in the prevention
and treatment of common illnesses. Through the development of databases and other applications,
health ICT provides new and more efficient ways of accessing, communicating, and storing
information. Hence, it ensures top quality healthcare services for patients. Evidence Based
Medicine: The role of Health ICT within the Health Sector Adopting and implementing a health
ICT system is a major organizational commitment that may possibly last health care providers for
several years. In order to take full advantage of such systems, providers are required to redesign
the way they practice medicine (Congressional Budget Office, 2008). Health ICT is offering the
health care sector a fresh domain known as evidence based medicine (EBM). EBM marks a shift
within the health care sector from a traditional practice which emphasis on clinical authoritative
opinions, to an emphasis on data

Big Black Good Man Analysis
In Big Black Good Man , the author, Richard Wright, describes how the good black man, Jim, is a
different man from the impression the porter, Olaf, has of him. Olaf thinks that Jim is a black,
suspicious, good for nothing, and dangerous man, while Jim is a very nice, gentle, and grateful man.
Jim is a black, six and a half foot tall sailor seeking a room from Olaf, a porter who is five feet
seven inches. On their first encounter, Olaf has a stereotypical notion about Jim because of his race
and stature. He does not want to give Jim a room. To Olaf, the man s intense skin tone and size is
an insult to him. Meanwhile, the big black good man seems to be a good man from the start. He
is cordial in their conversation, nice and trustworthy, and he answers politely. The black good man
is a man of trust, judging from him entrusting two thousand six hundred dollars in a stranger s hand
without any documentation. He is an amiable man, refusing to let Olaf carry his bag, because he
believes it is too heavy for him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asks him how long he intends staying, evidently wanting to do away with him as soon as he
can. He proves his discrimination in every aspect of their encounter by referring to him as an
inanimate object, a thing, a wild or dangerous animal, and a giant that can be violent. Olaf also
makes derogatory statements that are extremely discriminating. Olaf s prejudice is also very
obvious in the sense that he has difficulty obliging his request for a woman companion. Olaf
believes that no woman will be able to handle Jim. So Olaf warned Lena, the prostitute, about Jim
and how big he is, even questioning her on her way home. Meanwhile Jim appears to be a kind
and very gentle man. Otherwise Lena would not have seen him for those 6 days. Jim and Lena
even continued their relationship by writing to each other, and Jim even learns where she lives on

Crypto Wars Case
Case Synopsis
The Crypto Wars is the name for the U.S. government s attempts to limit the public s and foreign
nations access to cryptography strong enough to resist decryption by national intelligence
agencies.1 U. S. Government law enforcement officials want tech companies to give them a
backdoor into encrypted cellphones and other devices. Tech companies object to it. There have
been bills drafted in Congress on this issue. Apparently, I will object to a bill to require tech
companies to provide a backdoor because it infringes the privacy rights of smartphone users. This
is the ethical challenge about privacy behind the Crypto Wars. However, this is a Right vs. Right
issue since under specific circumstances, such as kidnapping and terrorism, it is necessary to have

Government Law Enforcement Officials Claim
In October 2014, FBI Director James Comey is asking Congress to force cellphone developers
into building backdoors into all devices for law enforcement surveillance as the response to new
customer data encryption standards adopted by Apple and Google.3 U.S. government law
enforcement officials argued that the new encryption standards of Apple and Google would make it
easier for bad guys to evade arrest since it is hard for the police to track data under unused
encryption. Comey asked Congress to update the 1994 Communications Assistance for Law
Enforcement Act, which mandates telephone companies wiretapping digital and Internet
communications.
This year on June 1st, two lawmakers are urging Comey to drop his pursuit of decrypting
smartphone communications since it is impossible without weakening device security.4 At present,
the bureau has not drafted legislation to address this issue yet. These sources for the facts of this
case are very reliable because they are all from regular channels like The Washington Post,
Electronic Frontier Foundation and The Daily Caller.

  • 2. Mammography Research Papers One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of an entire lifetime. Statistics show that individual risks may double if a first degree relative has been diagnosed with breast cancer (Breast Cancer Risk and Risk Factors, 2016). My risks are doubled as my maternal grandmother had breastcancer. My passion for radiology coupled with my personal risk of breast cancerhas influenced my desire to pursue a career in mammography. Mammography is a non invasive radiographic modality performed to image tissues of the breast to detect abnormalities of the breast tissue and provide a diagnosis. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in woman. The best defense against breast cancer is early detection with regular mammograms (Bontrager, 2014, 248). Mammography uses a low dose of ionizing radiation to image and detect breast tissue abnormalities, and is most often used in conjunction with ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI and PET scans. Mammograms use a low kV and high mAs, therefore radiation dose is substantial to patients tissues. Women are not the only gender to have a mammogram procedure... • 4. Hollywood Writers And Directors Do Not Have Essay Hollywood writers and directors do not have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters A successful movie is decided by gross revenue of the movie. Most writers and directors base on the world s histories, the reality society, and the favorite people s style to make their successful movies. Indeed, the writers are responsible for writing the script. Once they have handed over the script that is pretty much the end of their creative involvement with the movie. The directors control films artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualizes the script while guiding the technical crew and actors in the fulfillment of that vision. The director has a key role in choosing the cast members, production design, and the creative aspects of filmmaking. Therefore, the writers and the directors are the most important people who make a successful movie. Even though, the writers and the directors are the main people who create the content of the film, they do not have a responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters in the movie because it is just the connection between the audiences and the actors or actress, it is the way to increase the business of filmmakers and the writers, and it is just the way to review the world s history. Sees Operation Optimize as not very different from the iScanner product and believes all managers realize the need for a new product to expand revenues. Pat Lambert: Argues that iScanner should be modified and launched in a new, non vertical market, only solution for long term growth in revenue. Lewis Life Span Observation On October 5, 2016, our Life Span Development class had the opportunity to observe the physical, cognitive, and social development of Lewis, a three month old male infant. The observation was conducted at Dordt College in Room CL 1143 and the infant s parent consented to participate in the live observation. From the instant that Lewis and his mother walked into the classroom, the pair exemplified Santrock s concept of bonding (Santrock, 2014). The front facing carrier sling allowed the infant to benefit from the physical contact of being secured against his mother s chest. The carrying device also served to satisfy what Freud would call the Oral Stage, as he theorized that infants become attached to the person or object that provides them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lewis didn t show any signs of a reflexive or a social smile during the observation, but his mother said that he is easily able to giggle in response to external stimuli in various forms (Santrock, 2014). Lewis is exposed to ample stimuli for social development that not all infants his age have the opportunity to be experienced by like he does. This factor comes in the form of his lifestyle with two older siblings, as described by Santrock on page 179 (Santrock, 2014). Birth order might be a strong predictor of behavior, contributing to why Lewis s temperament was described as extremely laid back, a quality that wasn t as prevalent in his other siblings (Santrock, 2014, p. 179). Perhaps because of his naturally high exposure to social stimuli, Lewis displayed a healthy reaction to the Strange Situation, defined by Santrock as, a measure of infant attachment in which the infant experiences a series of introductions, separations, and reunions with the caregiver. When Lewis s mother handed him to a student, thus causing an object permanence discrepancy in which his mother disappeared and he was abruptly exposed to a stranger, Lewis still remained calmly ... • 12. The Synthesis Of Apomorphine Was Historically Accomplished... Introduction: Apomorphine has been used as far back as 2000 BC. In 2000 BC the Mayan s noticed that the bulb and root of water lilies gave a narcotic feeling, as well as acted as an aphrodisiac and partial hallucinogen.1 Apomorphine belongs to a class of molecules called aporphines which are present in water lilies, more specifically in Nymphaea caerulea and Nymphaea ampla.1 While mild effects were shown in parts of water lilies, scientists wanted to know what exactly caused these effects. The compounds were isolated and tested to determine that apomorphine was the most active ingredient. The concentration of apomorphine was so low in the plants that isolation was impractical so a synthesis was designed to investigate the properties of apomorphine further; leading to apomorphine being used for Parkinson s disease, erectile dysfunction, and most recently Alzheimer disease. Synthesis2: The synthesis of apomorphine was historically accomplished by an acid catalyzed rearrangement of morphine. This method typically had low and varying yields: anywhere from 0.6% to 46% yield. In 2008, a new synthesis was patented that shown yields as high as 55% to 70% yield. This new synthesis, scheme 1, uses phosphoric acid as the catalyst and phosphorus pentoxide as a water scavenger water is the by product of the reaction and the phosphorus pentoxide irreversibly binds to the water. The solution would then be heated to 90 100в„ѓ in an inert atmosphere for two hours. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

High Schools need to make changes to the freshmen schedule to accommodate for an off period so that freshmen are less stressed, have more quality time to do their work, and show up on time more often. If students want more credits or have to take an extra class then, they can choose to have an off period. Each teacher in each period expects your best until dismissal. Students that don t have access to the internet and have to type a paper or research could utilize the time that an off period gives, especially during block days when periods are 90 minutes long. Off periods not only give pure work time, but allows more time to do necessary tasks before, during, and after school. It is incontrovertible that not everyone is a morning person or can get to school on time without any complications, so if freshmen who are frequently tardy could get first period off, then that would give them more time to sleep, to get to school, and to get ready for the day as their brains might start working later in the day. I remember my judge specifically telling me that she prefers to have a piece of felt or cork on the back of your project when you hang it on the wall to prevent it from scratching your wall. She also told me to look at the colors and make sure they all coordinate; those were both things I didn t think about when making the project. I saved all of my judges notes, and the year after I read them all before and after creating a project to make sure I didn t make the same mistakes twice. • 18. The Interior Of A Formal Courtroom The interior of a formal courtroom glistens in a sepia hue. The bench overlooks the room, with herringbone flags representing their country. A bar harshly splits the room while oak tables rot as they pay homage to the solemn victors. Dueling jury boxes frame the edges of the room their panels demarcated by sharp bezels and accompanied by stern lecterns varnished an undistinguished gray. Mirroring benches lay vacant, with the exception of two overwrought neighbors and one anguished woman holding her 6 month old child. A corona of incandescence emphasises the indents separating each weathered stave along the wall. Walking sounds can be heard through the left wall of the courtroom. [Two men enter through the leftmost door, Mark Wallace, J.D. and Stanley Kowalski . They are about thirty years old, sharply dressed in black formalwear. Mr. Wallace carries an ebony suitcase overflowing with folders and documents. Stanley, guided by the hand of Mr. Wallace, stands shoulder to shoulder with his defence attorney. Seconds later the other side of the room mirrors the men s actions; Blanche, a fragile woman in her thirties, enters the room accompanied by her prosecutor, Ella Stone. Mrs. Stone withers with age as she struggles to cling on to the many folders in hand. Judge Ruth Anthony sits herself center bench, accompanied by Bailiff Scott. • 20. National Peace and Security Security is everywhere. It is needed for virtually everything that is accessed today. From starting your car, to logging onto Facebook, to clocking in at work, security is always present. One of the most noticeable forms of security is the police and the Army. They are the security for the country, both for internal and external threats. Police are more internal security, dealing with crimes caused by the general population. Army deals with outside threats, by addressing situations that are overseas that can cause harm to those within the States. To protect from these threats, the security appears to look intimidating, due to powerful weapons and armor placed upon the person. However, when this happens, a side effect occurs, where the civilians may become scared of the force, and begin to distrust the security, and also began to fear corruption. To be able to stop this side effect from happening, the security sector reformation must find the corrupt who cause the distrust and fear to occur, and end it. The way to best reform the security sector within societies within transition is by finding and removing the corrupt, and by doing that, you will raise faith in the security sector by the people. All poetry, including songs, are artistic in one way or another; short or long, rhyme or no rhyme, but they all have a meaning. During our short time of reading about her life we saw her go through so many emotions, struggles, and different changes. Throughout The Book Thief by Markus Zusak we see a girls story during the time of WW2 and the Holocaust. We read this story of Liesel Meminger and wonder how anyone could ever survive during a time like this, because for most people this was an extremely awful time to live in. But through his use of imagery, and other literary devices, Zukas found a way to write a perfect book describing this girl s life and to show how genuinely hard it was to live during this time. One of the first things we see Liesel going through is the separation of her and her mother. Which leads to her also losing her brother due to the fact that he died during their journey to Liesel s new home. This was one of Liesel s obstacles as when she says There was a chaos of goodbyes. . At first this may not look like it would be a gigantic obstacle by how it was worded. But once you read into the context of the sentence and take in how Zukas worded it to fill your mind with the imagery of Liesel s thoughts you see how hard this is for her. • 25. Kerberos Essay Kerberos and Firewalls Kerberos Kerberos is defined as an authentication protocol combined with a suite used in implementing the software (Nicola Aargau). The authentication protocol has its name derived from the three headed dog in the Greek mythology used for guarding the entrance to the underworld. The protocol involves three entities; the first two are aimed at authenticating one another i.e. the resource center and user while the third party acts as the key distribution center or the mediator between the two keys. Kerberos authentication protocol is based on symmetric key cryptography where the key used for encryption and decryption is the same. The formula for the protocol is DK (E K(M)) = M Where D stands for decryption, K stands for the key, E stands for encryption, M stands for encrypted text. In case the key is the same for both encryption and decryption procedures, the decryption process leads to the same plain text as the original text before encryption. The key distribution center comprises of two components, integrated into one server. These components are the authentication server and the ticket granting server. Considering three entities, that is, the resource center, client and user Z, the request and authentication process works in the following way. The user Z feeds in a username and password into the client machine, which is encrypted to form a secret key. The user Z through the client then contacts the authentication server, which in turn sends the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These warmer destinations, like the Caribbean, have much to offer; with balmy tropical weather, hot beaches, ocean views, and plenty of sun. Unfortunately, along with the luxuries of these areas comes with the risk of an array of tropical diseases, such as dengue fever. The thought of contracting this illness is not ideal for the perfect winter getaway but is beginning to become a somber reality with the dramatic increase of incidences in tropical climates globally. The story takes place toward the end of the Roman Republic in 44 BC in Ancient Rome. The play follows the words and actions of the Roman senators, plebeians and their emperor Julius Caesar. As the story begins, readers find out the many of the senators are not pleased with Caesar as a ruler of the Roman people. Two characters, Brutus and Cassius are especially passionate about killing Caesar to end his rule. Through discussing plans and creating alliances, the senators get their way and murder Caesar on the foreshadowed Ides of March. One question that comes up while reading the play is was Caesar s assassination really justified by the murderers? Although he did show signs of hubris, or excessive pride, Caesar s assassination by the conspirators was not justified because their reasons were based on theories and biased opinions, Caesar was a good man, and his murder was committed for the good of the people killing him and not for the good of Rome. The killers assassinated Caesar without clear justification and did it based on their own assumptions of him. Cassius says, Upon what meat doth this our Caesar feed That he is grown so great? Leading up the English reformation King Henry was married to Catherine of Aragon and had many attempts at giving birth to a male heir as a result of this King Henry began to tire of this married and looked elsewhere to Anne Boleyn and became what historians refer to as infatuated with her, wanting an annulment Henry asked the Pope at the time Clement VII to grant him one and utilized his knowledge of the Old Testament to give reason to his request stating that Leviticus 20:16 said If a man shall take his brother s wife, it is an impurity; he hath uncovered his brother s nakedness; they shall be childless Henry also referred to his marriage with Catherine as blighted in the eyes of God However the pope did not grant one because it goes against the Catholic faith, one underling reason is the fact that one of the most powerful monarchs in Europe was Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor who s kingdom spanned over Spain, Germany and Italy this accumulated to nearly 4 million square kilometers in land. Charles was the nephew of Catherine and if an annulment was to occur it was likely that Charles would take it to offence causing the Western Catholic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As of September 2017, research now shows that there are over a billion people worldwide who use the internet. People utilize the internet because it offers endless unfettered access to copious quantities of diverse data. Statistics confirm that 58% of people have at least one social network profile, revealing that social media plays a significant part in the internet world. The reason for this is that social networks are portrayed as an ideal method to keep up with family and friends; especially if those mentioned live far away. What the internet and social networks doesn t reveal, but rather conceals, is the monstrous lack of secrecy they possess. Until preventive methods are established by either the government or an individual; the internet will continue to obtain and distribute individuals private information to various networks; whether with or without consent. Jim Harper s essay Web Users Get as Much as They Give, approaches the internet privacy controversy with the reap what you sow mentality. Harper explains that people freely provide intimate information in exchange for the steady flow of unlimited free material. Harper says that is good and natural to be concerned about internet privacy, because [t]he internet is an interactive medium, not a static one like television . . . the information Web surfers send out can be revealing ... • 39. Personal Statement For Dentistry I am a naturally driven individual. I have always had an instinctual curiosity about the world around us. My mother and father, who were both raised in rural Poland, showed me hard work and commitment is the only way to find success in life. My mother came overseas alone to support her family in Poland after her father passed, and my father came to the United States after living and working on his parent s farm for ten years. My parents arrived in this country with next to nothing, and fought tooth and nail to build a life and family. It is only through their perseverance that I was able to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling childhood. As a result of having such incredibly strong role models, I have become a motivated, thoughtful, independent young woman. I may not have the personal connections and family influence in the field as some other applicants, but that does not dilute my passion to pursue a career in dentistry. My self reliance has proved to me that I can do anything I put my mind to, no matter who or what may stand in my way, and my parents taught me that. It goes to show that even though I am working towards this career on my own, since I do not have family or friends in dentistry to advise me, I am still just as dedicated to my academic and extracurricular activities in the hopes of growing into a well rounded woman and dentist. Upon recollecting what convinced me to pursue dentistry, I can pinpoint it to one specific experience. I realized that I wanted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Essay on Romanticism, Realism and Local Color in The... Romanticism, Realism and Local Color in The Awakening Kate Chopin is an author who was born in 1851 and died in 1904. Her father died when she was young, and her husband died when she was thirty one leaving her with six children. Due to this, she had little male influence throughout her life. This may possibly be why she had so little inhibition when writing her novels. She seemed to concentrate on the oppression of women and presented socially unacceptable ideas at the time of their publication. Although Kate Chopin stirred up great controversy in her time, today her novels, short stories, and poems are often regarded as great literary works that incorporate bold concepts, grim social realities, ... One way she defies society is by leaving her home on Tuesdays, which are designated by Creole tradition as stay at home and greet guests days. On several Tuesdays, Edna leaves home to walk about town leaving her guests and husband disappointed. She searches to be an individual and not conform to the standards of society. As written in the novel, She had all her life long been accustomed to harbor thoughts and emotions which never voice themselves. They had never taken the form of struggles. They belonged to her and were her own, and she entertained the conviction that she had a right to them and that they concerned no one but herself. Edna had once told Madame Ratignolle that she would never sacrifice herself for her children, or for any one (79). Another example of Romanticism can be found in the way society treats life at the time. They are oblivious, especially the women, to the limits of their lifestyle. The society present in The Awakeningpaints a picture where they only see beautiful, vibrant colors. However, as Edna soon finds out, paint does not stay beautiful forever. Edna begins to see the layers of paint peeling and chipping off to reveal the grays and blacks hidden beneath. As the story unravels, the reader ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Netflix launched in 1998 using a new business model and became Blockbusters biggest threat. The paradigm shift in the rental industry from having to travel to a store and rent a movie to being able to have a movie delivered to your mailbox changed the way people think about media entertainment. Alternatives One of the biggest information technology hurdles that Blockbuster has to overcome is the two separate systems dividing the online service and the physical stores. While not as convenient as being able to order a movie from the comfort of your home and having it upload on the TV, if Blockbuster integrates the two systems it will be an advantage to the overall strategy. Microsoft and Netflix have unveiled a partnership under which Netflix will stream movies directly to consumers through Microsoft s Internet based Xbox Live service (McDougall, 2008). This strategy goes along with Netflix s original agenda: to increase customer convenience. Anyone who is a Netflix subscriber and has an Xbox will be able to stream movies in the company library. This service should launch in the autumn of 2008. Closing While Blockbuster is trying to remain true to its origins and keep its core competence of a physical video rental store, the future seems to be in the roles of companies able to cater to consumer s busy life styles and need for convenience. Netflix, along with Apple and video on demand, is working to make ordering movies and TV shows as simple and fast as possible. Blockbuster needs to create a strategy that keeps at the front of the movie rental technology if it doesn t want to lose customers to the convenience of not having to leave their homes. John Steinbeck s 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, is a classic American novel about two ranch workers who struggle to keep their dream alive. In 1992, a MGM film adaptation directed by Gary Sinise was created. As with all book to film adaptations, many people debate over which work is better. Some say that the book is better because it creates a mood of darkness within the reader. So in the reality cost of behaviour not remain constant. It mean when we do CVP analysis we must assume a straight line (constants) so when do a calculation it easy to calculate the cost and make analysis. For example if we see in graph the cost is curve line it hard to calculate the cost if the cost is out of range from the graph. A literary, religious, political and philosophical movement, transcendentalism started in the mid 1830s and challenged the traditional views of society, particularly those related to the established churches. The origins of transcendentalismdate back to sixteenth and seventeenth century New England, when Puritanism first emerged as a call for furthering perfection of the Protestant Reform (Bremer and Webster 13). Unitarians, successors of Puritans, also initiated the transcendental movement and were conceived as mentors of many rising transcendentalists (Grodzins 1). Origins of Transcendentalism The emergence of transcendentalism is largely attributed to the religious reform movement of Puritanism that began in the late sixteenth century in New England. The foundational beliefs of Puritanism paralleled with those of Calvinism, and strongly contrasts with those of the transcendentalists. For example, the Puritans emphasized theocracy based on the bible, as well as salvation, material wealth, and man s dominance over nature. Contrastingly, the transcendentalists believed in democracy based on intuition, the simplification of every day life, and man being one with nature. Unitarianism also gave rise to transcendentalism, as the Unitarian church took more of an anti Calvinist approach which appealed to the transcendentalists. The founders of transcendentalism were Unitarian intellectuals of the middle and upper classes of eastern Massachusetts, who took a strong interest in moral reform. Initially, they looked to Unitarians as teachers, however, they eventually challenged the important principles of the Unitarian church. These transcendentalists not only challenged the Unitarian doctrines that were taught at Harvard Divinity School, but they protested against the general aspects of society and intellectualism.
