- 8. Webpart Details Bing Maps Use the Bing maps web part to add a map to your page. Simply enter an address or a well known name and your map will appear. Connectors For example, you can show updates from services like Trello and Facebook etc. File Viewer Use this to insert a file on your page. File types you can insert include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, .PDFs, 3D Models and more. Group Calendar The Group calendar web part allows you to put an Office 365 group calendar right on your page Hero You can display up to five items in the Hero web part and use compelling images, text, and links to draw attention to each. Highlighted Content Use this web part to dynamically display content based on content type, filtering, or a search string. Microsoft Forms Use the Microsoft Forms web part to create surveys, quizzes, and polls on a page. Planner The Planner web part allows you to add your team's tasks and assignments on a page using Microsoft Planner. PowerApps PowerApps is a service that lets you build business apps that run in a browser or on a phone or tablet, with no coding experience required. Showcase, share, tell a story broadcast a message, tell a story, share content for viewing (but not editing), or showcase services. Content Authors All members are content authors Small number of content authors and a larger number of content readers Governance Governance is typically determined by the team. Practices are aligned in the best way to get work done. Governance is determined by the organization to ensure consistency of experience and effective management of organizational information. Quantity A lot of team sites one for each unit of work, each project team, work group, partner, client, etc. Fewer number of communication sites aligned by functional area or major topic. SharePoint Classic Modern Sites Details Focus Cooperation Team in Teams or SharePoint Online Team Website If it's only about collaborating on documents, a SharePoint Online Team Site should be used. Is context-based communication like chats is also needed than Teams is the better tool. Focus on information provisioning Modern Communication Site A Team Site whose focus is more on the provisioning of information should be based on a Communication Site. Using a Blog Site Collection Modern Communication Site The equivalent of a blog post in a Communication Site is a News Page. Document Library with incoming e-mails Team Channel in Teams Teams can be contacted by e-mail, which automatically saves the attachments of the e-mails in document library of the Team. Calendar List Calendar List or Groups Calendar Calendar Lists can still be used. Another possible option is to use the Group Calendar of the Office 365 Group associated with the SharePoint Site. The Groups Calendar can be integrated into the SharePoint page via a webpart Task List Task List or a Plan in Planner Task Lists can still be used. Another option is to use a Plan in Planner. This can be integrated into the SharePoint page via a webpart Newsfeed Team Channel in Teams or a Yammer Group The newsfeed is discontinued for SharePoint Online. Alternatives are a Team Channel in teams or a Yammer Group. Which scenario is used must be considered on a case- by-case basis. Discussion List Team Channel in Teams or a Yammer Group Discussion list are only available in classic Sites. Alternatives are a Team channel in Teams or a Group in Yammer. Links List Modern "Quicklinks" Web Part or modern "Hero" Web Part Highlighted links are not available in modern Sites. Alternatives are the modern "Quicklinks" webpart or the modern "Hero" webpart Announcement list Modern "News" Web Part Use the modern "News" webpart to publish announcements on a modern Site SharePoint Designer Workflows SharePoint Designer Workflows or Microsoft Flow SharePoint Designer Workflows can still be used in modern Sites.
