The battle was between Catalan/Austrian and French/Castilians. Young men recruited to fight with the Republican Army were there. Why did it happen? The battle was part of a war to decide who would be the next king of Spain. The base was necessary to prepare men for fighting. When did it happen? The battle took place in 1711.
