  5. 5. Anoias Relief The relief of the county is distributed between mountainous areas, plains and a basin.
  6. 6. Anoias Relief: Mountains El Bruc is in a mountainous area. In this town there is one of the most important mountains of Catalonia, Montserrat.
  7. 7. Anoias Relief: Plains One of the plains of Anoia County is situated around Calaf. Windmills in Calaf’s plain
  8. 8. Anoias Relief: Òdena Basin In the center of Anoia County there is a basin. Its name is Òdena Basin. Igualada belongs to this Basin. Òdena Basin

  10. 10. Anoia’s Geology: Rocks Conglomerate: We can find it in Bellprat. Gypsum: Its a white rock and it has a massive rock aspect. We can find it in Òdena. Clay: Its red to brown and we can find it in Igualada or Jorba.

  12. 12. Anoias: Climate The southeast is the part of the county that receives the most precipitation. The west is the part of the county that receives the least precipitation and it is the part with the lowest temperatures. The center is the part with the highest temperature.

Manresana Tower (Prats de Rei) One of The Succession War battles took place in Els Prats de Rei in 1711. The battle was between Catalans-Austrians and French-Castilians. The battle was part of the war to decide who would be the next king of Spain. The Manresana tower was used in this battle.
  20. 20. Popular Army Training Base The base was created in the spring of 1938 towards the end of the Spanish Civil War. It was located in Pujalt. The Republican Army created the training camp. Young men were recruited to fight with the Republican Army.
  22. 22. Geocaching It is a high-tech game played around the world by adventure seekers with GPS devices. You have to find containers (caches) with the coordinates in the web.   26. 26. Anoia legends:The Drummer of the Bruc In the 19th century there was a war in Spain called The Napoleonic War. In 1808 the Napoleonic Army was ready to attack the village of El Bruc. The villagers did all they could do to fight against the French.
  27. 27. Anoia legends:The Drummer of the Bruc (II) One boy was playing the drum at the top of the mountain. He multiplied the sound of the drum and the French army thought there were thousands of soldiers. They turned back because they thought it was a better army than theirs.

Alta Anoia Chickpeas Ingredients: Preparation: - 300 g. of chickpeas. ● Boil the spinachs with a - Desalted cod (4 little amount of water pieces). - 1 kg. of spinachs. and salt. - ½ red pepper. ● In a saucepan, fry some - 2 garlics. - 2 tomatoes. garlics, peppers and - Oil. tomatoes. - Salt. ● Add the chickpeas and - Water. - Broth. cod. ● Shake the pan and add some broth to cook the chickpeas. ● Let it boil and at the last moment add the spinachs.
  33. 33. Conclusion:Summarize the presentation We have worked so much with this presentation… Although it doesn’t seem it, we have spent a lot of time working on it. We have also learned and discovered some facts about our county.
  34. 34. Conclusion:Summarize the course Judith Heins came to Spain in order to help us with our English. We have done a lot of activities about Anoia County. Every week we worked on differents topics, including history, culture, etc.
  35. 35. Discuss what you learned In general, we have learned a lot about all the themes we have worked on. We already knew something about some themes, but others (as the typical recipe or the population of the county) were unknown for us.
  36. 36. What was the most interesting andsurprising? In our opinion the most interesting information was about the popular army base, because we didn’t know anything about it. The most surprising for us was knowing about the production of paper in a paper mill.
  37. 37. How will you use this information in thefuture? Maybe we won’t use never this information, but we think that it is important to know about your county, its traditions, its geography, its history, etc.
