PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY
LOCATION Anoia County is situated in Central Catalonia.  It is the fourteenth largest county of Catalonia, with an area of 866.3 km 2 .  Its capital is Igualada.
PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY Anoia County has lots of mountains.  The most important mountain in the county is Montserrat Mountain.

ANOIA LANDSCAPES 1 . Mediterranean forest (Bellprat) In this forest there are many White Pine trees. There is a path in the middle of the forest.
2.  Montserrat Natural Park (El Bruc) This is Montserrat Natural Park. In the foreground, there are some trees and the monastery. In the background there are a lot of mountains. We can see the effects of erosion.
3.  Anoia Basin from La Tossa (Sta. Margarida de Montbui) This is Anoia basin view from La Tossa. There are fields,  mountains and forests. We can see the horizon. The weather is foggy.
4. Viney ard (Sta. Maria de Miralles) This is a vineyard. There is a field of grapes. In the background there are some hills. There is a building in the middle.
ANOIA’ S CLIMATE The temperature is highest from May to September. July and August are the warmest months. Precipitation is high from January to April and from October to December. The rainiest months are April and October.
ANOIA’ S CLIMOGRAPHS April is the month with the most precipitation in La Panadella. It falls 139.1 mm in this month.
VERTEBRATE FAUNA Most of the species in the fauna of Anoia county  are Mediterranean. There are mammals such as the wild boar. There are reptiles such as the viper. There are amphibians such as the salamander. There are birds such as the peregrine falcon.

ECONOMICS: PAPER MILL Nowadays paper manufacture  is one of the industrial sectors that  gives more money to Anoia County. Most of the factories are located  in Capellades and La Pobla de  Claramunt.  There is a museum in Capellades. In this museum Papermaking is  manual and the old machines are still  used to work.
HISTORY
MANRESANA TOWER There was a battle between Catalans and  Austrians against French and Spanish. The battle took place in Els Prats  de Rei. It was part of a war to  decide the next King of Spain in  1711.  The tower was used in the war.
POPULAR ARMY BASE The Republican Army created a  training base in Pujalt.  Young men went to fight with the  Republican army.  The base was necessary to prepare  men for battle.  It was created in the spring of  1938, towards the end of the  Spanish Civil War.  
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
GEOCACHING Geocaching is an activity  which is based on finding  a treasure from its coordinates with the help of  a GPS.  The treasure is a box that  contains items of little  value.
ABRIC ROMANI The Abric Romaní is an archaeological site  located in Capellades.  There is a deposit of 17 feet of soil which has  been excavated. So far there are 27  archaeological levels which correspond to an  occupation by Middle Paleolithic Neanderthal  men.  It is estimated to be about 56,000 years old.

THE THREE WISE MEN On the night of January 5 th  there is a  festival in which the kings of the East give  children gifts for their good behavior  during the year. The kings arrive in a cavalcade with assistants and travel through the town.  It is attended by more than 5,000 people in Igualada.
THE LITTLE SHEPHERDS The Little Shepherds is a theatre  representation. One of the most famous in  Catalonia is that played in Calaf.  The plot is about the birth of Jesus and  several stories of shepherds and dialogues  that recall the first Christmas.
THE LIVING NATIVITY It represents the birth of  Jesus of Nazareth through  characters alive. The representations are  usually performed during the  months of December  and January, coinciding  with Christmas. It ’ s very famous in Odena and  Prats de Rei.
THE CHRISTMAS LOG It ’ s a log that comes in December .  Children obtain gifts from it in the evening  of December 24th. In order to give them gifts children have to sing a song and hit the trunk.  The log must be covered with a blanket.
CALAF MARKET The Lord of the village gave the citizens of Calaf the privilege of having a market every Saturday. One day the town people went to the market and a cold wind began to blow. The words were frozen  and the people felt silent.  When  the sun started to come out the words were unfrozen and  then all the people was talking at once and you could not understand anything.
THE DRUMMER OF EL BRUC In 1808, Napoleon's army intended to attack El Bruc village.  A child went to the Mountain of Montserrat to play the drum.  The echoing sound of the drum made the French army fled because they were afraid.
CONCLUSION This subject has been very interesting, because  we have improved our English level (for example  we have learned many new words).  We have also expanded our knowledge of  Anoia County.
