Spanish selection football won the football
world cup, in 2010, in South Africa, and
they practice a very attractive football.
They won the football Europe cup, the
world’s cup and the Europe cup
consecutively. Apart of the Spanish
selection football, there are two very
famous teams in the world, FCBarcelona
and Real Madrid.
Beaches and Mountains
Spain is a peninsula, which means that it
has a lot of beaches, for example, la costa
brava (Girona area), la costa dorada
(Tarragona area), costa Blanca (Valencia
area) and Costa del Sol (Malaga area).
We have very big mountains too, where
we can practise winter sports, for example,
Pirineos (border with France) or Sierra
Nevada (Granada).
Best monuments
We have a lot of famous monuments in
Spain, for example:
• Sagrada Familia
• La Giralda
• La alhambra
• El acueducto
Sant Sadurní
Sant Sadurní is a small town of Barcelona,
Cataluña. It has more o less 12.000
inhabitants. There we speak Catalan and
Spanish, and we have the chocolate
Factory Simón Coll too.
CAVA
Cava is the most important drink in Sant
Sadurni known in all the world.
It is done with grapes, they mash it, they
add different thing to make the cava tastes
better, and they sell it to all arround the
world.
It taste is similar to champagne.

This work is a project by Gaudí.

most beautiful icons of Barcelona.It's a
work of Antoni Gaudi, which has
wonderful views of the city.

because of their Roman monuments.

TYPICAL DANCES
• Sardana: is a type of circle dance typical
of Catalonia. This dance started gaining
popularity throughout Catalonia during the
20th century.

CHRISTMAS
• Caga Tio: It is a trunk, that when the
children hit on it, it gives presents.
• It is very friendly.
• Caga Tio is celebrated on 25th of
December.
• The grandmother does the traditional
Catalan soup.On Christmas day all the
family have lunch together.
EASTER
• In Catalonia the easter day all the family
were together and the godfather gives to
his godson a (Mona) typical Catalan cake
normaly with a chocolate egg.
CASTANYERA
• It is onn 31st of October.
• Castanyera is an old woman who sells chestnuts
to people.
• During all the week, the people make
“panellets” and there are a lot of types.
• There’re delicious!
ST JORDI
• It is on 23 th April the boys give their
girlfriends or the girl that he likes a rose
and the girl gives him a book.It is a very
old legend. A prince killed a dragon that
kidnapped a princess and the blood of the
dragon became a rose and the prince gave
the rose to hers.

• St Sadurní d’Anoia is our town, there are a
lot of people working to produce cava.
• There are many cava cellars, the most
popular are Codorniu, Freixenet,
Gramona...

SPAIN
We come from Spain. Now we are already to show us a little bit of our country
and our costums.
CATALONIA
Catalonia is our autonomous region. The official language of Spain is Spanish,
but in Catalonia we speak Catalan. The Capital of Catalonia is Barcelona,
but there are three more provinces called Lleida, Tarragona and Girona.
There are 7.571.000 inhabitans in Catalonia.
SANT SADURNÍ D’ANOIA
Sant Sadurní d’Anoia the little village where we live next to
Barcelona, our city.
The best sparkling wine called cava, is produced here. This
village it’s very famous for that.
One of the most famous cellars is Freixenet.
LEGEND OF SANT SADURNÍ
In this village there is a legend, who is about one insect
called Fil·loxera. This insect eats the strain, and the
people who work in a cellar, couldn’t produce sparkling
wine. And 7 old men solved this problem, and got rid of
the Fil·loxera.
TRADITIONS
As in ourpeopleand in our country, thereare many different traditions. Most of
them begin in antiquity, and have happened to the present as it is created.
Some of themare:
-“Tió de Nadal”: As of December 8th, it begins to feed “tió” (trunk) lidand is
usually a blanket to keep warmatnight. We eat until Christmas Eve and
then, Uncle, beaten with sticks by children and singing his song, shedding
for them.
-“Reis Mags d’Orient”: They are the Kings, according to the New Testament
brought gifts to Jesus when he was born, guided by a star. These last gifts
were gold, frankincenseandmyrrh. Each night of January 5, all children go to
sleep, and when it is removed, the Kings have left their gift sunder the
Christmas tree.
-“Castanyada”: It is a festival which is celebrated on All Saints Day (October
31 or November 1). It consists of a meal eat enchestnutbuns, sweet
potatoes and candied fruit drink with typical chestnut is the muscadine. Also,
chestnuts and hot roasted chestnuts sold on the street wrapped in
newspaper (“Paperina”).
TYPICAL FOOD
“Pa amb tomàquet”: Spread a red tomato onto the
slice of bread, and then put some olive oil and salt.
You mix it with ham, cheese, tuna fish, …
“Paella”: Yellow rice with prawns,
shells, lobsters, mussels, ….
“Escudella”: It is a typical soup with chicken, veal,
Catalan sausage, blood sausage, some vegetables,
chickpeas and pasta.
EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
Nursery school: It is from 0 to 3 years old, but is not an
obligation.
Primary school: It is from 3 to 12 years old. The children
start learning about good behaviour and after to
improve their skills writing, reading… Here the children
start learning foreign languages like English.
Secondary school: It is from 12 to 16 years old and is
compulsory. There are no level groups. We learn several
languages like Catalan, Spanish, English and other
languages like French and German.
University studies or Vocational Training: You must do
an exam to enter. It is not compulsory. The people study
this because they really want to have a practical job and
enjoy learning it.

    Spanish selection football Spanishselection football won the football world cup, in 2010, in South Africa, and they practice a very attractive football.
