Key Accountabilities – FCC Technology Center:
Basic Engineering for Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units, Gas Concentration Units for New Units or Revamp Units.
Sizing Reactor riser, Stripper, Raw Oil Distributors (Optimix).
Designing of Catalyst Separation Devices (Riser Termination device) and Cyclones for Reactor and Regenerator.
Performing Catalyst Hydraulics in FCC Reactor and Regenerator and sizing Slide valves.
Designing the Steam Distributors and Air Distributors for FCC Reactor and Regenerators.
Developing FCC Process design using simulation and generating PFDs.
Performing Hydraulics calculations for line sizing, vessel sizing etc
Generating P&IDs for FCC unit by getting inputs from other departments like Mechanical, Instrumentation etc
Conducting Project Review Meetings with Customer at UOP’s Chicago office in USA for each project.
Performing relief load calculations and sizing PRVs for the various equipments.
Generating UOP Schedule-A specifications for equipments like Main Air Blower, Direct Fired Air Heater, Feed
Distributors, Flue Gas Coolers, Columns, Receivers, Pumps, Exchangers, Relief Valves etc using ASPEN Zyqad.
Following Quality Plan with all Process – Project checklists completed.

Major FCC Project Highlights:
Refinery in Oman– RFCC (Revamp Sch.A): Worked as a Project manager cum Process Engineer for revamp project.
The major scope involved two stage regenerator modification for air grid and vent tubes to have uniform flue gas
distribution, New EIS for RFCC unit, Orifice chamber inlet modification, Reactor cyclones modification etc. Provided
Team Leading support for Merox and PRU revamp schedule-A projects and acted as focal point of contact from UOP.
Refinery in Norway (Study) – FCC Main Column and Gas Concentration Unit revamp for change in feed quality.
The scheme is different than UOP standard. Technical recommendations are provided to current problems e.g. salting
issue in main column, Coking issue in reactor. I handled all three sections Rx-Reg, Main Column and Gas con in
Customer Study Review Meeting. Also Project Manager Responsibilities are handled.
Refinery in India (Study) – FCC Reactor Regenerator Section: High severity feasibility study for increased capacity.
Regenerator is combustor style. The major scope involved revamp evaluation of Riser, VSS chamber, Cyclones, Air grid,
Combustor, Standpipes, Slide Valves and Third Stage Separator etc.
Refinery in South Africa (Revamp Sch.A) – FCC Reactor Regenerator Section: Worked as a Project manager cum
Process Engineer for revamp project. The major scope involved Reactor modification for new riser termination device
(VSS G-2), New Cyclones in reactor and regenerator, Orifice chamber revamp etc.
Refinery in Argentina (Revamp Sch.A) – Reactor Regenerator Section: Worked as a Design Engineer for revamp
project. The major scope involved unit capacity increase with new Reactor (hot wall), Converting pressure balanced unit
(Exxon Model IV) to Side by side unit (i.e. standpipe with slide valve design), revamp evaluation for Flue gas cooler and
Orifice chamber etc. Also, attended Hazop meeting for the FCC unit at customer site.
Refinery in Russia, FCC (Sch.A)– Reactor Regenerator Section: Worked as a Design Engineer for design of new
unit. The scope involved Reactor (cold wall), Regenerator (combustor style), Flue Gas Cooler, Catalyst system etc.
Refinery in Korea, FCC revamp (Sch.A)– Gas Concentration Process Unit: Worked as a Design Engineer. The
scope involved unit capacity increase and evaluation of all equipment i.e. Exchangers, Vessels, Pumps for revamp
project.
Various Assignments handled in FCC Center:
Title : Validation of Unisim Process Mega-modules for FCC Technology
Client : Internal (UOP)
Responsibilities:
Validation Unisim Process Simulation Model for FCC Technology.
Perform process simulation using UNISIM 390 for already executed project.
Converging the distillation column in UNISIM to meet design specs.
Retrieving result from Unisim simulation and comparing critical process parameters as per UOP process checklist
Following UOP flowsheeting guidelines for performing Unisim calculations.
Documenting the findings / observations and presenting to technology specialists & getting feedback from them
Incorporating required changes in flowsheet templates of Unisim per Technology Specialist’s comments.
Releasing Unisim Mega-module to UOP engineering department after validation.
Title : Hydraulics Coordinator (Checker) for FCC Technology
Client : Internal (UOP)
Responsibilities:
I review the hydraulics calculations for all FCC Reactor Regenerator Projects handled in UOP India office.
Role involves thorough checking of hydraulics using Checklist and recording the comments for the project engineer
actions.
I Prepared Standard Hydraulics Module for Reactor Regenerator Section for FCC Technology to save hydraulics
time for future FCC projects.
Title : FCC Feed Distributor Coordinator (Checker)
Client : Internal (UOP)
Responsibilities:
I review Raw Oil Distributor Calculations as per UOP design guidelines for all projects handled in UOP India office.
I approve the Specifications for Feed distributors.
The role also involves consultation with UOP Mechanical group for revamp projects for feed distributors.

Client : Maruti Suzuki Automobile India Limited, Gurgaon
Configuration : Primary furnace – secondary furnace – Venturi scrubber -packed colum (caustic) – ID fan – stack
Based on past 5 to 6 projects on paint sludge incinerators, I derived common configuration required for the plant. With
varying feed (waste) capacities, standard design models were prepared. This standardization was useful in reducing
proposal turn-around time thereby saving man-hours.
Title : Support to Commissioning Engineers
Client : Internal (THERMAX)
Description :
Provided support to commissioning department by involving in commissioning activities at field (Rotary Kiln at BEIL and
Liquid incinerator at Syngenta). Involved in start-up, operation, shut-down activities with vendor engineers, burner
installation, stack gas monitoring etc.

  • 2. Major FCC Project Highlights: Refinery in Oman– RFCC (Revamp Sch.A): Worked as a Project manager cum Process Engineer for revamp project. The major scope involved two stage regenerator modification for air grid and vent tubes to have uniform flue gas distribution, New EIS for RFCC unit, Orifice chamber inlet modification, Reactor cyclones modification etc. Provided Team Leading support for Merox and PRU revamp schedule-A projects and acted as focal point of contact from UOP. Refinery in Norway (Study) – FCC Main Column and Gas Concentration Unit revamp for change in feed quality. The scheme is different than UOP standard. Technical recommendations are provided to current problems e.g. salting issue in main column, Coking issue in reactor. I handled all three sections Rx-Reg, Main Column and Gas con in Customer Study Review Meeting. Also Project Manager Responsibilities are handled. Refinery in India (Study) – FCC Reactor Regenerator Section: High severity feasibility study for increased capacity. Regenerator is combustor style. The major scope involved revamp evaluation of Riser, VSS chamber, Cyclones, Air grid, Combustor, Standpipes, Slide Valves and Third Stage Separator etc. Refinery in South Africa (Revamp Sch.A) – FCC Reactor Regenerator Section: Worked as a Project manager cum Process Engineer for revamp project. The major scope involved Reactor modification for new riser termination device (VSS G-2), New Cyclones in reactor and regenerator, Orifice chamber revamp etc. Refinery in Argentina (Revamp Sch.A) – Reactor Regenerator Section: Worked as a Design Engineer for revamp project. The major scope involved unit capacity increase with new Reactor (hot wall), Converting pressure balanced unit (Exxon Model IV) to Side by side unit (i.e. standpipe with slide valve design), revamp evaluation for Flue gas cooler and Orifice chamber etc. Also, attended Hazop meeting for the FCC unit at customer site. Refinery in Russia, FCC (Sch.A)– Reactor Regenerator Section: Worked as a Design Engineer for design of new unit.
