Detailed engineering : Guiding the Contractor’s engg office about following (camped at Petrofac’s Sharjah office) : ❑ Hazop review and close-out ❑ Relief valve sizing, control valve sizing ❑ Blowdown simulations as per API 521 and blowdown valve sizing (including sizing for supercritical fluid conditions) ❑ Env. Impact assessment (EIA), Quantitative risk assessment study, air dispersion modeling for flares, thermal radiation calculations for flares. ❑ A detailed hydraulic analysis (Hysys : Flarenet) was carried out for the flare network of the NGL plants simulating all relief scenarios for various firezones of the large network (60 relief valves and 10 blowdown valves). The simulation output was used to verify / update flare piping design. Facilitated the Contractor to effectively conclude all above by detailed reviews / checks, co- ordination with Contractor and QP Operations department. NGL Extraction Plant : Performance Testing : Interpretation of plant data to identify plant bottlenecks. Using Hysys simulations decide operating changes required. Refinery Upgrade Feasibility Study: Crude distillation unit and Naphtha stabiliser simulations. Review details of Licensed units FCC, Hydrotreater, SRU and their integration and overall material balance. Acid gas removal unit (AGRU) troubleshooting: Facilitated detailed systematic review by Petrofac to analyse and conclude on following problems associated with existing AGRU processing feedgas to NGL cryogenic plant. o Potential hydrocarbon carry-under from absorber column resulting in excessive hydrocarbon release from downstream amine flash drum.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd. EPIC division, India (1998 – 2002) Manager - FEED group o For proposed hydrotreating and Hydrogen Units of IOCL Mathura refinery: ▪ Coordinated prebid process engg. activities of engg contractor- equipment datasheets, heat exchanger ratings, enquiry for liquid N2 unit ▪ Provided process engg inputs for EPIC bid based on basic engg. packages of licensors [IFP and Technip respectively]. Carried out bid evaluation for liquid Nitrogen unit. o Trained on SIMCONx Dynamic Simulator of ABB-Simcon at ABB's Houston, USA office. Created and tested a dynamic simulation model for 3 stage centrifugal compressor based instrument air system of ARAMCO's Hawiyah gas plant. This model on SIMCONx was for Operator Training Station (OTS) and involved complex controls. o Prepared agreement of co-operation with dynamic simulation technology provider for joint execution of projects involving such models. Participated in business development. Evaluated Hysys dynamic simulation package by simulating naphtha stripping section of HPCL- Vaizag. o For a proposed 560,000 TPA PVC plant of M/s. Chemplast, co-ordinated pre-bid process engineering activity between the process licensor and detailed engineering contractor. Made technical comparison of offers received for package units. o Guided the FEED team during preparation of design manuals and P&ID manual, as well as during development of in-house computer programs for engineering calculations. o Thermal design of heat exchangers (crude preheat train, product coolers, condensers reboiler) using HTFS software package. PINCH analysis of crude train. o Simulated Crude Distillation Unit using Aspen Plus and compared results with Sulzer design. Also simulated sour water stripping and amine absorption sections. o Prepared ‘Departmental Activity Control Procedure’ for FEED in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Responsibilities include making the team members familiar with ISO requirements and ensuring proper implementation of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems throughout the group. Played major role in obtaining ISO 9001 certification.
