After watching a video about racial discrimination, the author feels guilty for being previously unaware of the problems faced by people of color. The author wants to understand the real challenges of the world instead of remaining "blessed with ignorance". They recognize that as a white person, they cannot truly understand what it is like to be treated as different or abnormal due to skin color. The author wonders how people of color can tolerate discrimination when it is a daily experience, and how they manage to get through each day facing these problems whenever they leave their home.

1. Angry Eyes
After watching the angry eyes video I can say I honestly feel bad for not noticing these
things sooner. As she said “We are blessed with ignorance” I don’t want to have this “blessing” I
would rather see the world’s flaws so I know what it truly has instore for me, my friends, my
family, and my classmates. I feel like I am in the wrong for have experienced the problems to
truly understand what is going on. I can never truly understand what any of these people are
going through and what it means to be treated like I am different or not normal like everyone else
because of my skin color. In the video one of the girls walked out and came back in and was told
to apologize because she was able to walk away from the problem and come back to it later, but
she just got angry and left. If it is like that for people of color every day, then how do they still
tolerate us? How do these people go about their day knowing that this is what is instore for them
when they leave their house or their neighborhood? The only thing I can really think to do is
apologize and try to understand.
