The narrator gets in trouble after defending themselves in a school fight on a Sunday, which they describe as the worst day of the week. They are called to their group home director's office, where an argument ensues and the narrator is told to leave. As the only child of a teenage mother who abandoned them at birth, the narrator has bounced between many foster and group homes. They are close to aging out of the system and expect to be removed from this home as well after the school fight. The narrator finds school work easy but often gets into trouble for defending themselves against bullies as the new kid at each new school after changing homes.

1. It was Sunday-not a day but rather a gap between two other days. I have always hated
Sunday, everything that could possibly go wrong always does on Sunday and today wasn’t an
exception. Corrin! Are you even listening?! Yea. Then repeat back what I just said. I don’t know
Mrs. Corbin, all your lectors are just so dull and pointless, complete word vomit if you ask me.
Corrin! What? Out with it woman, so I can pretend I actually to give a fuck, say that I will do
better next time so we can both get on with our lives. You know what Corrin, I have had it with
your attitude and general disrespect of authority. Just get out of my office so I think about what
to do with you! Finally! That’s what I wanted. I left before she could respond slamming the door
behind me. Good going C. Real nice. I said to myself. Well this will be like the fifth group home
in like 6 months. She’ll probably find another one to dump me at, like here you go she’s your
problem now. Then Again I’m three months from turning 18 so they might just throw me out of
the system all together, That be just fine with me.I’d been thrown away my whole life. I mean my
own mother left me in a dumpster outside a bar shortly after birth. The only reason I’m alive
was because a homeless guy happened to stumble by and hear me crying. After that I’ve
bounced from foster home to foster home because Shocker: no one wanted me to begin with.
Okay I guess if I wasn’t such a little shit all the time I might not have gotten kicked out so many
times but hey what can you do. I just hate being told what to do. Which is partly the reason for
me being lectured today, on Sunday, the shittest day of the week.
Don’t get me wrong I have always done great at school, I always get high marks on stuff I just
have a tendency to cause trouble because I hate bullies. Since I get dumped at a different group
home almost every 3 months I switch schools a lot. I’m always the “new kid” which usually leads
to some dumb ass kid, who thinks they're all that coming up and trying to pick a fight with me. I
don’t go out of my way to start the confrontation but I will defend myself. This week’s fight had
been me and some group of bitches whose heads are shoved so far up their own asses they
would need a specialist to remove them. I was eating lunch in the quad by myself like usual

2. when they approached me, I looked up as the shadow of their leader fell across me. Could you
move? You blocking out the sun. She didn’t move. Her two followers got on either side of me to
form a sort of bitch fence, keeping me in my seat. Hey, Corrin, how’s it going? What’s it to you,
Britney. Just a question Corrin, don’t get so defensive. But I don’t have a business proposition
for you she said as a sly grin spread across her ugly ass face face. And that is? I respond
slowly, as her minions creep in closer to me. You can give me all your valuables and I won't slit
you throat she says this as she slowly brandishes a knife from the hem of her jeans.This gets
my attention. I lunged forward, snatching the small knife from her hands. It tooks a second for
Britney to catch what happened but when she did, it was on. I felt a blade go into my right
shoulder, I had forgotten to check if her minions were armed as well. Sloppy. I lunged at Britney
and connected the blade into her right eye, she hollered in pain as blood splattered onto the
pavement. She stumbled back a few feet from me and shouted don’t just stand there, do
something you idiots. Her sidekicks looked at each other and back at me with the bloody knife
then decided they didn’t want to be blinded like britney and fled in the opposite direction. I threw
the knife down, fight over. I didn’t make any attempt to hide the fact that I had stabbed a girl and
was now had her blood splatters on my white shirt so it didn’t take long for the school to connect
the pieces. I was dragged down to the dean’s office, then arrested where I spent 2 days in jail
for assault but someone came forward and said I had acted in self defense and the charges
were dropped. Which is what led me to being hauled in the director of the group home I live in
office. As I made my way back to my room, I was already mentally preparing myself for being
removed from yet another home. I flopped down on my bed, and fell asleep, maybe a nap will
help me forget my crummy life for a bit. At least tomorrow isn’t sunday.
