FYS Class Assignment

1. Angry Eye
This experiment was started by a teacher of the name Jane Elliot. She was trying to show kids
how awful it felt to be on the other end of racism. She uses eye color as a way to separate the people.
The people with the wrong eye color are put in the same position as the minority group in society. The
way Jane conducts this experiment is she puts all the people with blue/ green eyes and separates them
from the people with the brown eyes. She then proceeds to harass the people with blue/green eyes. She
is rude to them, calls them stupid, belittles them, and makes it to where most everyone in the room is
upset with her. This technique I feel was very harsh, but it is the rude awakening people in this society
need. We are teaching our children it is ok to treat people differently by just the way they look, but Jane
is teaching those parents how it feels to be on the receiving end.
