Angry Eye Opinion
In the Angry Eye Experiment video, Jane Elliot is fighting to stop racism. She does an
experiment with her students where she separates them by the color of their eyes and does it in a
very mean and nasty way. She takes the blue eyed students and turns them into the minority. She
brings to the attention of the class of how the real minorities are treated and wants them to treat
the blue eyed people like how minorities are treated every day. The students are to treat them as
if they are not as smart, that they are not as clean and they are supposed to lower their
expectations for them. My opinion on this video is that it was a good exercise to show what
minorities go through on a daily basis. I feel that in this country that Caucasian people are
privileged without even knowing. This exercise was very helpful to the students even though
they did not like the way that she taught it. I feel that it opened their eyes to the problems that
minorities go through. Before this experiment I am sure that a lot of the students who aren’t a
minority did not notice the things that minorities have to deal with on a daily basis. I agree with
what Jane Elliot did in this video.
