En préambule, les relations et les affinités entre l’art et la mode sont rappelées par la confrontation d’images empruntés aux beaux-arts (depuis la peinture classique jusqu’à l’art contemporain) avec des images de modes issues de la publicité, de la presse, de l’édition (catalogues de marques, look books, etc.).
La première partie rappelle ce qu’est une image en passant en revue chacune de ses composantes (lumières, dessin, couleur, espace, etc.).
La seconde partie décrypte des images de mode et de luxe afin d’en révéler leur grammaire visuelle.
La troisième partie dresse le panorama des grands récits que les marques de mode et de luxe ont pour coutume d’adopter.
La quatrième partie approfondie les spécificités propres aux images de mode.
