WHAT IS ANDROID?
 It is a software platform and an operating
system for mobile.
 Based on the linux kernel.
 Android was found way back in 2003.
 It was developed in Palo Alto, California
by Andy Rubin and his team.
 Android was purchased by GOOGLE in
AUGUST,2005 for $50 million.
 It is consortium of several companies.
 OHA is a business of 84 firms. Major group
members of OHA group is Google, Htc,
Samsung, Sony, dell, nvidia,
LG, Motorola and many more
 This group of companies is
allowed to use source code of
Android and develop
applications.
 Not being the part of OHA was the main reason for
Nokia of not developing Android Mobiles.
 Android is not a single piece of hardware(especially
many type of sensors
 Android supports wireless communication using :
 3G Networks
 4G Networks
 802.11 Wi-Fi Networks
 Bluetooth Connectivity Android is a multi-process
system, in which each application (and parts of the
system) runs in its own process.

were available in previous touch screen mobiles.
In this, user can get millions of applications(for
free) that they can not get in any other mobile
operating system.
 Android supports advanced audio/video/still media
formats such as HD,MPEG-4, H.264, MP3, and AAC,
AMR, JPEG, PNG, GIF.
 Developing an android application is not that
much tough, using SDK(standard development
kit) and java emulator one can easily develop
applications that he/she wants to.
 Other then Android there are several mobile operating
system which are used.
 Symbian, iOS, windows etc. are among the most used
