The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman Essay
The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman
In the novel The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman, there were many different stories about
JanePittman s life. In the movie there were not as many stories as the novel, but they were still
quite interesting. The novel and the movie had many similarities and differences. Some of the
similarities were very noticeable. Just from the beginning, in both the movie and the novel, Ned
carried the two rocks that made the fire for Jane and Ned. Ned then moves away and writes
Jane, but the letter doesn t reach Jane for a whole year. Albert Clevoue shot Ned in both. Joe had

to pay colonel Dye for getting him out of trouble with the Ku Klux Klan. Colonel Dye was selfish
and asked for money as interest , most find him just greedy. Once Jane and Joe moved away,
Jane had a couple of dreams that Joe would be killed by some horse, so she went to a hoo doo. Sure
enough, Joe was killed by a horse. Later, a boy was born, and they called him The One. His name
was
Jimmy. They wanted him to become a preacher, but he didn t want to. Differences that were highly
noticeable were that in the novel, the interviewer was a teacher that wanted her information for his
class and in the movie, it was a magazine reporter. When Albert Clevoue died in the novel, the
chariots of hell came for him, and in the movie, you don t even hear of his death. In the novel, it
was a black horse that killed Joe Pittman, and the movie, white. In conclusion, the novel had more,
described the stories more thoroughly. One might find that the novel is much more enlightening
than the movie, but it takes more time to read the novel than it does to watch the movie! All in all,

Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay
Biography of Wyatt Earp
Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in
Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his parents moved him
across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered a great western lawman. His first
experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870.
In April, 1875, he was appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that
job on April 2, 1876 for insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas where he
served as a police man three separate times. The first time he served from May 17 until September
9, 1876; the second time he served was from July 6 until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with
Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial even
today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred in the back entrance of the O.K.
Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the shootout actually occurred about half a
block over from the O.K. Corral in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there
it spread out into the middle of Fremont
Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the
Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change it. O.K.
Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the
Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now.
Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout.
He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself a
saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental
Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also some of the
Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil, Wyatt and
Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc
Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a

Marketing Audit Process
THE MARKETING AUDIT PROCESS
How is a marketing Audit conducted?
We recommend that the following simple three step procedure be followed when carrying out a
marketing audit.
1.Setting the Objectives and Scope
The first step calls for a meeting between the student (the auditor) and a company officer(s) to
explore the nature of the marketing operations and the potential value of the marketing audit. If the
company officer is convinced of the potential benefits of the marketing audit, he and the auditor
(student) will then work an agreement on the objectives, coverage, depth, data sources, report
format, and the time period of the audit. A questionnaire covering the entire scope will then be
developed ready for the next stage

Marketing Environment Audit
By marketing environment, we mean both the macro environment surrounding the industry and the
task environment in which the organisation intimately operates. The macro environment consists of
the large scale forces and factors influencing the company s future over which the company has
very little control. These forces are normally divided into economic demographic factors,
technological factors, political legal factors, and social cultural factors. The marketing auditor s task
is to assess the key trends and their implications for company marketing action.
However, if the company has a good long range forecasting department, then there is less need of
need for a macro environment audit.
The marketing auditor may play a more critical role in auditing the company s task environment.
The task environment consists of markets, customers, competitors, distributors and dealers,
suppliers, and marketing facilitators. The marketing auditor can make a contribution by going out
into the field and interviewing various parties to assess their current thinking and attitudes and
bringing them to the attention of management.
Marketing Strategy Audit
The marketing auditor then proceeds to consider whether the company s marketing strategy is well
postured in the light of the opportunities and problems facing the company. The starting point for
the marketing strategy audit is the corporate goals and objectives

Amazing Benefits of St. John s Wort
Millions of people suffer from depression, and a lot of those choose not to treat their depression
with traditional medicine, instead reaching for a natural alternative. Dietary supplements are

Behavioral Patterns Of The Family System
Every family has a unique system with a set of rules, mostly unspoken, that govern their behavior
and interactions. In dysfunctional families, the symptom of their dysfunction is typically sourced
within their family system. The symptom also has a function it protects family members from
uncomfortable conflict. Dysfunctional families and couples often maintain negative patterns of
interacting, and are unable to transition into new behavioral patterns without therapeutic
intervention. In order to help families develop out of their systematic ways of behaving, it is
important to understand the specific familysystem that is presented. With a keen understanding of
the family s culture, beliefs, etc., the therapist can develop therapeutic rituals, which are prescribed
actions aimed at altering behavioral patterns that are responsible for maintaining the symptom. The
ritualis not a verbal explanation or criticism of the family system, rather it is a specific set of
actions designed to help families create new patterns of interaction and meaning in their
relationships. (p, 5).
Symbols, time and place, and open and closed aspects are fundamental elements that are used to
construct rituals. Symbols are actions or objects utilized in the ritual that represent a new belief
within the family system, which must specifically relate to the particular family culture. The
explicit language of the family sometimes determines to symbol used. by Imber Black 1986nFor

Analysis Of Alan Paton s Cry The Beloved Country
In one of C.S. Lewis numerous influential books, The Weight of Glory, he states, To be a Christian
means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you. Throughout
life people often become angry with another person, or at a situation. Whether a person is in
control of that situation or not, as a Christian, the Bible speaks of forgiving and loving others no
matter the fault committed against a person. The quote by C.S. Lewis is an example of how it is
inexcusable for Christians to not forgive others because God constantly forgives. While Stephen
does not completely struggle with the forgivenessaspect throughout his experiences in the book,
the various times he becomes angry with another character can sometimes prevent him from
forgiving that person right away. In Alan Patons Crythe Beloved Country, the main character
Stephen Kumalo sins against his sister Gertrude and his sons girlfriend, and this shows how
Stephen struggles with controlling his anger throughout the story. Stephen Kumalo shames his
sister Gertrude because he is upset, angry, and embarrassed that his family has fallen apart. After
Stephen meets with Gertrude for the first time and finds out what she has been doing, he declares,
You have shamed us... A liquor seller, a prostitute with a child and you do not know where it is.
Your brother a priest. How could you do this to us? (Paton 61). However, Stephens rage does not
last for long though because his heart quickly softens

The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and...
The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems
Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a
wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in,
it is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and
finally hatred.
Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The
symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one
loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. The placement of nulla at the beginning of the lines gives it great
importance and stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut
vulgus amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for
Lesbia also had a non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love.
However the quondam is significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and
Catullus s feeling has since changed. nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly,
ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia and he can no longer view her with affection even
though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these
names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them. Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is
contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem 72 generally creates a strong
contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia. He chooses particularly
emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of Catullus s passion and
vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes how much Lesbia
has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria talis cogit amare
magis, sed bene velle minus, is clear and logical, given Catullus s

Anti Gun Laws
In the United States there are a lot of different views about guns and gun laws. As a hunter and
outdoorsman, I own guns and use guns. As a gun owner, I believe there should be some laws and
restrictions however not a ban. Some believe all guns are bad and the only solution to end gun
violence is to ban all guns. However, people have to realize that most guncrimes are committed by
stolen or illegal fire arms. If somehow I could change the way most view guns, and to help end the
argument on the ban of firearms, it would be one less thing Americans have to argue about. There
are many kinds of guns and reasons to have guns. The most common reasons are hunting, sport
shooting, and protection. Rifles and shotguns are generally used for hunting

No-Shows And Nobodies Research Paper
Nerds, No Shows, and Nobodies In any classroom of any school, there are always three types of
students. A seating plan can easily reveal each type of student: sitting in the front row are the
nose picking Nerds, in the back row are the napping No Shows, and in the middle row, sit the
neglected nobodies. These classes of students may seem stereotypical, but they are as accurate
as a Nerd s math calculations. To start off, these students race to the front seats on the first day,
are always raising their hands in class (because they know everything), and carry collections of
tissues, which are sometimes already used, for their frequent and almost daily nose bleeds. This
description could only refer to the Nerds. Nerds are the classic overachieving, comic book
reading, geeks. They may seem to know everything in class, but Nerds are extremely awkward
when it comes to socializing, unless it s a comic book convention. If they are not solving quadratic
equations for their own amusement, they can most definitely be found digging their noses, while
playing Minecraft. Nerds are also very clumsy and uncoordinated. They may be able to calculate
the rate of acceleration as a basketball is thrown into a net, but they sure cannot shoot one. To
continue, Nerds are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

praise a Nobody for a good grade in front of the class, everyone asks, who? , because they have no
idea that student exists. Moreover, Nobodies have average looking appearances, average athleticism
and average grades. There is not much to say about them and there is not much that they will

Professor De Vida Bell, LCSW I.Introduction In assessing Emma s case, an analysis of her dynamic
systems and the interrelatedness between the biological, social, psychological, and developmental
factors, reveals that Emma has had major deficiencies, effecting her early/middle childhood life
span development. Thus, the traumas in which Emma has experienced, will nevertheless negatively
affect her continued development into adulthood, if her undesired, aggressive behaviors do not
produce successful and consistent interventions. II.Major Factors Emma s assessment includes an
examination of major factors, such as bio and neurobiological, psychological, social, and
development aspects within Emma s life and environment. Biologically, Emma doesn t have
responsively consistent caregivers; her father didn t believe that she was sexually abused by a
staff member at her pre school, and after the discovery, Emma s mother was her only parental
support in psychotherapy. From a neurobiological aspect, evidence derived from reports of Emma s
hyperactivity, and her inability to pay attention in class, may prove that she suffers from
deficiencies in a Gama amino butynic acid (GABA) brake neurotransmitter in her brain. (Robbins,

Miep Gies Thesis
Helping people who are in danger is not a matter of courage but from making a decision that
every human being has to make in his life when he or she distinguishes between good and bad.
Miep Gies. The Medal of Honor, one of the highest medals that one can receive. Miep Gies, one
of the people in whom helped hide multiple Jewish families should get a Medal of Honor. She had
helped the aforementioned families with food, shelter and the necessary things needed for those
families to survive. One major factor in this decision is how long Miep kept the families in hiding.
The families were kept in hiding, with Miep s help for twenty five months, or about one year and
one month. This time may not seem that long, but keep in mind that during that time that the...

Honestly, it was also difficult for Miep, the caretaker of these families plus the others to keep
quiet about the Jewish families. Plus she had to try to get food to the families. Secondly, hiding
the families had been hard. Miep Gies had at the time broken a law. She mainly began breaking
the law by hiding the families and continuing to hide the families. She also had to try to get
resources to the families without being suspicious. Then, each family member had different
needs than another. Miep also had to get what these specific members wanted. This was most
likely a challenge, especially to smuggle the items. Some people may say that Miep Gies does
not deserve a Medal of Honor. These people are in the wrong. Miep has and until her death cared
for the families. She cared and hid the Jewish families, and by doing so she was risking her own
life. Every day for the twenty five months that the families were in hiding, she risked her life
knowing that if she was ever found out, then she might be killed, be put into a concentration camp,
have horrible things done to her. Miep had not abandoned the families at

Theme Of Superstition In PetroniusThe Satirycon

Superstition Within Petronius The Satirycon
Written during the 1st century A.D., the Satyricon is often referred to as the first Roman novel.
The novel has only survived for us in fragments, and for this reason it is impossible for the modern
reader to reconstruct its plot completely. However, the Satyriconserves as an invaluable source of
information about the daily life and language of the Roman populace. Petronius deliberately
reproduces plebeian language and slang, offering a rare insight into everyday Roman life, which
polished and refined works leave absent. Petronius focuses on the large social gap between the
freed slaves and scholars of the time and how superstition can show that gap. The main scene that
superstition is shown is during Trimalchio s Feast.
The scene in the novel titled as Trimalchio s feast, describes an elaborate dinner party hosted by
Trimalchio, a businessman and immigrant who gained riches in Rome without any elegance or an
education fit for an aristocrat of the time. This section has been preserved more completely than
some of the more fragmented chapters of the novel, its themes and motifs are able to develop more
fully and be more closely understood as Petronius had originally intended. It could be interpreted
within different chapters and scenes of the feast as focusing on the large social gap between Rome
s freed slaves, and the well educated scholars whom they aimed to mimic. Although, this

Our Retreat Brought Renewal and Hope for Better Days Ahead...
Nine teenage girls and their leaders crammed on outdated bench seats as the smell of various
sack dinners and chocolate filled the borrowed short bus. Vinyl seats cracking, teenage girls
laughing and the makeshift radio blasting we followed behind the boys in their SUV to Woodland
Park. The brisk March wind rattled the old windows of our little white and blue, borrowed bus.
Miles of twisting roads and pinetrees that seemed to pierce the low floating clouds lead us to our
retreat house. Gravel crunched beneath our tires, hitting the sides of our bus, creating a rumble
under our feet as we pulled up the drive.
Great gray boulders outlined planters along the front of the patio and knotted wood planking

Moods lightened as the girls soaked their feet in the master bath tub before lights out. Goldfish,

using hair ties. Secrets and random thoughts were whispered under the glow of flashlights until
we could no longer keep our eyes open after lights out. A comfortable silence fell over the house as
we all finally drifted off.
Groggy faces slowly made appearances as the heavenly aroma of bacon and waffles coaxed us from
our dreams before the sun had even crested the mountain ridges, the following morning. Dream
catchers of various sizes fluttered in the pine scented wind on the deck after breakfast. Teams ran
through the trees on a scavenger hunt, breaking the silence as sunlight streamed through the pine
needles. In the afternoon, colorful rays of light poured through the stained glass window as small
groups bonded over boxes of tissues and shared memories of our middle school youth group.
Another intense round of sardines had us piling into hidden cabinets and coat closets. Playful
banter between the more egocentric members of our teams kept the games interesting as we all
tried to beat each other in games of tag and never have I ever.

McTigue was winning the fight until they had to forfeit because he chipped one of his teeth and it
cut his lip. Then in the 1940 s and 1950s dental offices saw a huge spike in dental and teeth
injuries in football players, and because of the rise in injuries the ADAA (American Dental
Association of America)made it recommended by 1960 that all in contact sports used mouth
guards. In the late 1960 s and early 1970 s a children s dentist was so appalled by all the injuries
he was seeing and having to treat that he made the first professional mouth guard that is used in
all contact sports today. By 1973 the NCAA requires mouth guards for all sports that consisted
of contacting with other people. These sports include: football, hockey, lacrosse, rugby as well as
basketball. Since the mouth guard there has been a decrease in injuries to the mouth as well as
dental injuries in contact sports. Mouth guards can come in all different shapes, sizes, types, and
even ones that are used for different purposes. In general, mouth guards usually just cover your

Reggio Emilia approach is centered on the interests of the child and the guidance from the teachers.
There are various opportunities that are provided to the children from a Reggio Emilia Approach.
This approach was a model of early childhood education that was based on the foundation that
would facilitate a child s learning through different ways. The ways, such as expressive,
communicative, and cognitive, were intended to progress early childhood development. This
approach was founded by a man who was an early education specialist from Reggio Emilia, a town
in North Italy. The man s name was Loris Malaguzzi. His vision attracted the world through his
project and play based curriculum. It was also based on the play of children and the guide of
educators. The overall approach is combined from principles that were based off of child centered
curriculums. These types of curriculums included parents, educators, the communities, and the
children. This formulated what was known as the environment. The environment is known to be

A Brief Note On The And Nursing Care
Definition
Telenursing is defined as the delivery, management, and coordination of care and services provided
via telecommunications technology within the domain of nursing (American Association of
Ambulatory Care Nursing, 2004). The terms telehealth nursing, telenursing, are used
interchangeably. To illustrate telehealthnursing the terms home telehealth nursing and
telehomecare nursing are expressions having the same meaning. Both of these terms describe using
technology and advancements in healthcare in the homecare setting, in order to deliver nursing care
remotely.
Background
Telenursing dates back to the 1970s when hospital caregivers reached out to offsite experts for
consultation. Due to a lack of technology this type of consultation was done primarily by phone.
Nurses who engaged in telenursing practice today assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the
outcomes of nursing care. They do this using technologies such as the internet, computers,
telephones, digital assessment tools, and telemonitoring equipment.
Patients are responsible for their own health care at home once they leave a provider s office or a
hospital. Most patients often do not follow the prescribed treatment plan prescribed by their
physician or provider. This may be due to several factors such as a miscommunication or
misunderstanding of the treatment plan, lack of availability to facilities needed for the treatment
plan, or a difficult course of therapy that the patient cannot

The Importance Of The Age Of Discovery
Portugal is known for initiating the Age of Discovery. They played an important role in
exploration. Many new lands were discovered, boosting trade, power, and wealth, during the Age
of Discovery. Early exploration began in the late 1300s and early 1400s under Prince Henry, aka
the Navigator.
One key factor that led to Portugal s power was Ceuta, a major port city in north Africa, that
controlled ships entering and exiting the Mediterranean Sea. King John I, Henry s father,
conquered the city after being encouraged by Henry. On an early morning on August 21, 1415,
King John I, along with his sons, led an army to Playa San Amaro, a beach in Ceuta. They sieged
the garrison and took the Ceuta by nightfall. They went on taking four more islands off the
northwest coast of Africa, in which they explored and colonized.
In 1431, the Azores were discovered and colonized. In 1443, the Bay of Arguin was colonized, and
later, the Portuguese constructed a fort. By 1462, the Portuguese had explored the coast of Africa
as far as present day Sierra Leone These colonies produced extozic trade goods, such as wine,
spices, ivory, gold, and herbs, making the Portigal not only wealthy but also powerful. In 1498, the
Cape of Good Hope was discovered, but Henry never lived to see this great discovery. He died at
the age of 66 in 1460. His legacy lived on. Henry s navigation and discoveries officially began the
Age of Discovery, and it was not long before other European nations joined.

The Alchemist By John Coelho
As soon as you begin to pursue a dream, your life wakes up and everything has meaning. Barbara
Sher s quote illustrates Paulo Coelho s attempt in The Alchemist to raise the idea that individuals
should pursue their Personal Legend and individual dreams. Coelhio uses a multitude of literary
elements such as symbolism and setting as described by Thomas C. Foster in How to Read
Literature Like a Professor. In The Alchemist, Coelho uses his characters as symbols to manifest
his overall theme to engage in following your personal legend. The way Coelho s illustrates his
theme throughout his work can be interpreted as both realistic and problematic. Throughout
Santiago s journey along with personal experience, the reader can validate Coelho s... Show more

This symbolism becomes apparent while Santiago observes his flock and notices that the sheep
never make any decisions and are only concerned with getting food and water. The sheep live
simplistic lifestyles, just coexisting without making any hard decisions. Along with symbolism,
Coelho uses the setting of his novel to build on his belief. The Alchemist takes place in a desert,
where Santiago experiences unique difficulties when pursuing his personal legend. The desert
becomes a metaphor for the obstacles and hardships that stand in the way of achieving one s
dreams. The importance of the setting of a literary work is emphasized by Foster when he states,
Geography can also define or even develop a character (175). Coelho uses both symbolism and
setting to support his overall belief of pursuing ones personal legend. Symbolism in The Alchemist
develops the idea individuals should pursue their dreams or they will live a safe, boring life rather
than fufilling their soul purpose in the world. Setting is used to signify that in pursuing your
legend, you may face difficulties, but you should never stop pursuing your dreams as Santiago
continued his pursuit. Not only does Coelho use symbolism and setting to further prove his theme,
he uses his characters to manifest his notion. Santiago is the ideal individual who listens to omens
in order to understand the language of the soul of the world and achieve his personal legend.

The Expectancy Violations Theory And Human Norms
We have all heard the maxim stick to the status quo. The desire to adhere to societal norms
influences our everyday actions and largely shapes how we interact with others. What happens
when we stray from the norm and do something unexpected? For this assignment, Professor Striley,
after explaining the expectancy violations theory, challenged her students to apply its concepts to
violate a stranger s expectations in public and record the subsequent response. Through this
activity, I learned firsthand that low communicator reward valence potential could cause a
seemingly ambiguous violation to seem negative. In this paper, I will first explain the
expectancy violations theory and describe the expectancy my group violated for the assignment.
Next, I will apply four concepts from the expectancy violations theory to my group s violation.
Finally, I will address my own reactions to my group s violation and how it has further shaped
by understanding of communicator reward valence and the expectancy violations theory as a
whole. The expectancy violations theory is about what happens when we act differently than
others predict we will act (Striley, 2015, p. 5). This fixed prediction stems from the idea that
individuals generally adhere to social norms, which can be defined as rules indicating how
individuals are expected to behave in specific situations (Striley, 2015, p. 7). For example, most
people would not wear footie pajamas to a job interview because they

equality. Among these men, two stood out the most; John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.
Both were known to many as inspirational and significant leaders of the Civil Rights Movement,

enactment of the Civils Right Act of 1964 include John F. Kennedy s 1963 Civil Rights speech,
Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, and the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Lastly,
these events ended public segregation and led to employment equality for all regardless of their

Hippies In The 1960 s

1960 s that reconstrued their judgments on war and society. At a time when the Vietnam War was
without recourse, hippies used peaceful movements to show their discontent with war. Throughout

The encouragement of new music, new sexual ideals, and birth control revolutionized America.
Music, literature, the arts, and television were all transformed immensely with the rise of the
movement. In particular, rock music was altered to a great extent. Rock music faced monumental
growth in sales and continues to do so to this day.(Sayre, J. 2008, August 8) In addition, ideals of
sexuality were greatly influenced. Prior to the movement, couples felt persecuted by simply living
with one another. With the hippiemovement came the free love philosophy which primarily
encouraged the power of beauty and sex.(Hippie Counter Culture 2011, March 9) Especially when
looking at statistics, it s easy to see how the hippie movement refashioned sexuality. Studies have
shown that between 1965 and 1975, the number of women who experienced premarital sexual
intercourse increased dramatically. As intercourse before marriage became accepted, it was clear
that a means of contraceptive was needed to avoid unwanted children. Therefore, another result of
the hippie movement was the development of birth control and population control advocacy. The
newfound awareness of global overpopulation generated concerns about pollution, food shortages,
and quality of life. Thus, overpopulation became a prominent issue in the 1960s. Advocators of
birth control became avid due to these issues so the pill was quick to be promoted. By 1962, an
estimated 1,187,000 women were using it.(Sexual Revolution n.d.) The hippie movement of the
1960 s resulted in huge discrepancies from subsequent years with changes in pop culture, sexual

stating the advantages of their treatment option. proponents of medication believe

were ignorant of the consequences of their inventions. With the rapid increase in the number of
factories and machinery, pollution and grim working conditions quickly ensued. Without realizing
how severe the negative implications of technology could be, society was not able to keep pace
with the immense amount of pollution and unsanitary living conditions ( Industrial Revolution ). In
Shelley s novel, Victor Frankenstein, the fanatical natural philosopher, represents the scientists
collective perspective while his creation embodies the very ideal of technology. As Victor becomes
extremely obsessed with finding the origin of life , he does not care about any other elements
around him, including his friends and his environment. On the other hand, his creation, though a
naturally gentle being, becomes destructive as he is disdained by humanity for his monstrous
appearance (Shelley). These two characters parallel the trend of Industrial Revolution in terms of
how technology developed. While the role of technology was to make peoples lives easier, it
gradually became an existence similar to Victor s creation, which turned out to be

India s coal reserves are the fourth largest in the world. Approximately 49% of land is arable, with
a further 3% delegated for permanent crops. India also contains 1907.8 cu km of total renewable
water sources, which can be expected to become a valuable commodity in the future. Furthermore,
the principle resource of India is its intellectual capital, as it has over 20 million well educated,
English language speaking individuals participating in demanding industries such as medical, and
information technology. For the last 100 years or so most educated Indians have migrated to other
countries in search of employment, however, due to rapid development in India, this trend has been
reversing.

Reading Information On Mini Lessons And Guided Reading
Reading
I learned so much from the reading information that was given to us over the span this course.
Everything that I received is so wonderful and exciting, but because of the mass information, I did
feel a little overwhelmed. All of the information on mini lessons and guided reading was so
valuable because I did not know much about it, but this course and the information provided really
simplified it for me. I also really appreciate the information on the reading strategies, particularly the
first paper on strategies that work, because again, it simplifies the concepts for me. That combined
with the 12 systems of strategic action sheet are wonderful tools that taught me so much about
strategies. In all honesty, I learned a lot in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will be years before I can successfully accomplish all that I learned in this class, but I am excited
to get started with one or two concepts.
Writing
This was the tab section that I was most disappointed with, I know that I did learn new concepts,
but we went through it all so quickly that I struggle to remember it all. Learning the simplicity of
the mini lesson for writer s workshop was great, and I really loved all of the information from
the packet on charts from launching the writing workshop. Again, this is all really new
information. Other than any overlap from the textbooks, it was all completely new! I would
like to learn a lot more about writing, it would be nice to see more examples of mini lessons and
how to address each aspect of the writing workshop, via mini lessons. However, I do have the
internet and youtube to teach me a lot, so that is a great resource. I am excited to get more
practice with writing workshop mini lessons in our next class, and to see all of the examples my
classmates come up with. Because of the load of information, I am still sifting through a lot and
unsure of specific questions, but I know that I have a lot more reading and researching to do on this
topic.
Vocabulary and Word Study Something that I learned in this section was the importance of pre
assessing. I probably would not have thought of this for vocabulary, but it makes sense. Why teach
your students words

The Indian Media Used Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa is one of the most written about and publicized women of the 20th century. She is
the second most advertised religious celebrity after Pope John Paul II. Due to her fame, many
people willingly step forward to offer their support and praise her work.
The Indian media used Mother Teresa as a figure for a movement towards bettering the lives of
those in the lower castes. They believe that if the Indian people were seeing a white, foreign
woman caring for their family and neighbors that many would take up the cause to help as well.
Mother Teresa s presence was also helpful during the political unrest of India. She was the
symbol of a better country during India s fight for independence from Britain, the separation
from Pakistan in 1947, the Civil War of 1971, and the creation of Bangladesh. Mother Teresa was
proving that one could give up one s entire life and need no material possessions and spread love
and support to all. She lived a simple life, surrounded in strong faith, while believing in the
compassion of humans.
However, not everyone believed that Mother Teresa had proven herself as a living saint. Many
people questioned her health, her mental sanity, and her work. Throughout her life, Mother Teresa
suffered from ill health. While not much is known about her childhood and her health during this
time, it is known that the Bojaxhiu family traveled each year to comfort Mother Teresa s poor
health. While in India, as a Loreto Sister, Mother Teresa became

Health At Stake . There Has Been A Recent Event Where The
Health at Stake There has been a recent event where the House of Republicans defunded an
organization for one whole year, which can save many lives. People rely heavily on Planned
Parenthood, being the nation s health care provider, as it provides them with reproductive health
benefits. These benefits include, but are not limited to, access to contraception, cancer screenings,
and basic preventative care. However, there are numerous amounts of people who concur with the
decision to defund this organization. This issue is highly debated as Planned Parenthood provides
abortions. Sometimes people fail to notice all other benefits provided by the organization and the
consequences of defunding Planned Parenthood, when they encounter abortion.... Show more

In an article on the website, Teen Vogue, they share stories of ten young women, where they
explain how Planned Parenthood made a difference in their lives and why it s so important the
doors stay open, demonstrating the feelings of comfort young women may find in Planned
Parenthood. If protection is not easily accessible to these women, it could lead to unwanted
pregnancy and perhaps abortion. Keep in mind that Planned Parenthood is also a place to prevent
abortions, which is why they provide easy access to contraception and offer family planning.
Without Planned Parenthood, there could be an increase in unplanned pregnancies among age
groups, especially teenagers. In a Planned Parenthood study, 80% of the clients receive services to
prevent unintended pregnancy and they prevent about 516,000 unintended pregnancies each year,
this demonstrates that Planned Parenthood is needed and has been doing a superior job in
preventative care, in terms of pregnancies. According to an article in Time magazine, The
Congressional Budget Office estimates that thousands of women on Medicaid would end up having
children they would not otherwise have had if Planned Parenthood funding is cut, which displays
how women rely on Planned Parenthood for family planning. Many women who become pregnant
unintentionally end up aborting the fetus, but calling to defund this organization, women may
undergo life threatening methods for terminating their pregnancy ( Do

The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman Essay The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman In the novel The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman, there were many different stories about JanePittman s life. In the movie there were not as many stories as the novel, but they were still quite interesting. The novel and the movie had many similarities and differences. Some of the similarities were very noticeable. Just from the beginning, in both the movie and the novel, Ned carried the two rocks that made the fire for Jane and Ned. Joe had to pay colonel Dye for getting him out of trouble with the Ku Klux Klan. Colonel Dye was selfish and asked for money as interest , most find him just greedy. Once Jane and Joe moved away, Jane had a couple of dreams that Joe would be killed by some horse, so she went to a hoo doo. Sure enough, Joe was killed by a horse. Later, a boy was born, and they called him The One. His name was Jimmy. They wanted him to become a preacher, but he didn t want to. Differences that were highly noticeable were that in the novel, the interviewer was a teacher that wanted her information for his class and in the movie, it was a magazine reporter. When Albert Clevoue died in the novel, the chariots of hell came for him, and in the movie, you don t even hear of his death. In the novel, it was a black horse that killed Joe Pittman, and the movie, white. In conclusion, the novel had more, described the stories more thoroughly. One might find that the novel is much more enlightening than the movie, but it takes more time to read the novel than it does to watch the movie! • 3. Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay Biography of Wyatt Earp Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his parents moved him across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered a great western lawman. His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on April 2, 1876 for insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas where he served as a police man three separate times. The first time he served from May 17 until September 9, 1876; the second time he served was from July 6 until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial even today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred in the back entrance of the O.K. Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into the middle of Fremont Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now. Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout. He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also some of the Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a ... • 4. Marketing Audit Process THE MARKETING AUDIT PROCESS How is a marketing Audit conducted? We recommend that the following simple three step procedure be followed when carrying out a marketing audit. 1.Setting the Objectives and Scope The first step calls for a meeting between the student (the auditor) and a company officer(s) to explore the nature of the marketing operations and the potential value of the marketing audit. If the company officer is convinced of the potential benefits of the marketing audit, he and the auditor (student) will then work an agreement on the objectives, coverage, depth, data sources, report format, and the time period of the audit. A questionnaire covering the entire scope will then be developed ready for the next stage 2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marketing Environment Audit By marketing environment, we mean both the macro environment surrounding the industry and the task environment in which the organisation intimately operates. The macro environment consists of the large scale forces and factors influencing the company s future over which the company has very little control. These forces are normally divided into economic demographic factors, technological factors, political legal factors, and social cultural factors. The marketing auditor s task is to assess the key trends and their implications for company marketing action. However, if the company has a good long range forecasting department, then there is less need of need for a macro environment audit. The marketing auditor may play a more critical role in auditing the company s task environment. The task environment consists of markets, customers, competitors, distributors and dealers, suppliers, and marketing facilitators. In dysfunctional families, the symptom of their dysfunction is typically sourced within their family system. The symptom also has a function it protects family members from uncomfortable conflict. Dysfunctional families and couples often maintain negative patterns of interacting, and are unable to transition into new behavioral patterns without therapeutic intervention. In order to help families develop out of their systematic ways of behaving, it is important to understand the specific familysystem that is presented. Lewis numerous influential books, The Weight of Glory, he states, To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you. Throughout life people often become angry with another person, or at a situation. Whether a person is in control of that situation or not, as a Christian, the Bible speaks of forgiving and loving others no matter the fault committed against a person. The quote by C.S. Lewis is an example of how it is inexcusable for Christians to not forgive others because God constantly forgives. While Stephen does not completely struggle with the forgivenessaspect throughout his experiences in the book, the various times he becomes angry with another character can sometimes prevent him from forgiving that person right away. In Alan Patons Crythe Beloved Country, the main character Stephen Kumalo sins against his sister Gertrude and his sons girlfriend, and this shows how Stephen struggles with controlling his anger throughout the story. Stephen Kumalo shames his sister Gertrude because he is upset, angry, and embarrassed that his family has fallen apart. After Stephen meets with Gertrude for the first time and finds out what she has been doing, he declares, You have shamed us... The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in, it is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and finally hatred. Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut vulgus amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for Lesbia also had a non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love. However the quondam is significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and Catullus s feeling has since changed. nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly, ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia and he can no longer view her with affection even though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them. Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem 72 generally creates a strong contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia. He chooses particularly emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of Catullus s passion and vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes how much Lesbia has fallen in Catullus s eyes. A seating plan can easily reveal each type of student: sitting in the front row are the nose picking Nerds, in the back row are the napping No Shows, and in the middle row, sit the neglected nobodies. These classes of students may seem stereotypical, but they are as accurate as a Nerd s math calculations. Thus, the traumas in which Emma has experienced, will nevertheless negatively affect her continued development into adulthood, if her undesired, aggressive behaviors do not produce successful and consistent interventions. II.Major Factors Emma s assessment includes an examination of major factors, such as bio and neurobiological, psychological, social, and development aspects within Emma s life and environment. Biologically, Emma doesn t have responsively consistent caregivers; her father didn t believe that she was sexually abused by a staff member at her pre school, and after the discovery, Emma s mother was her only parental support in psychotherapy. From a neurobiological aspect, evidence derived from reports of Emma s hyperactivity, and her inability to pay attention in class, may prove that she suffers from deficiencies in a Gama amino butynic acid (GABA) brake neurotransmitter in her brain. • 16. Theme Of Superstition In PetroniusThe Satirycon Olivia Brinkman LLEA 326 T. Barnes 11/28/17 Superstition Within Petronius The Satirycon Written during the 1st century A.D., the Satyricon is often referred to as the first Roman novel. The novel has only survived for us in fragments, and for this reason it is impossible for the modern reader to reconstruct its plot completely. However, the Satyriconserves as an invaluable source of information about the daily life and language of the Roman populace. Petronius deliberately reproduces plebeian language and slang, offering a rare insight into everyday Roman life, which polished and refined works leave absent. Petronius focuses on the large social gap between the freed slaves and scholars of the time and how superstition can show that gap. The main scene that superstition is shown is during Trimalchio s Feast. The scene in the novel titled as Trimalchio s feast, describes an elaborate dinner party hosted by Trimalchio, a businessman and immigrant who gained riches in Rome without any elegance or an education fit for an aristocrat of the time. This section has been preserved more completely than some of the more fragmented chapters of the novel, its themes and motifs are able to develop more fully and be more closely understood as Petronius had originally intended. It could be interpreted within different chapters and scenes of the feast as focusing on the large social gap between Rome s freed slaves, and the well educated scholars whom they aimed to mimic. A Brief Note On The And Nursing Care Definition Telenursing is defined as the delivery, management, and coordination of care and services provided via telecommunications technology within the domain of nursing (American Association of Ambulatory Care Nursing, 2004). The terms telehealth nursing, telenursing, are used interchangeably. To illustrate telehealthnursing the terms home telehealth nursing and telehomecare nursing are expressions having the same meaning. Both of these terms describe using technology and advancements in healthcare in the homecare setting, in order to deliver nursing care remotely. Background Telenursing dates back to the 1970s when hospital caregivers reached out to offsite experts for consultation. Due to a lack of technology this type of consultation was done primarily by phone. Nurses who engaged in telenursing practice today assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the outcomes of nursing care. They do this using technologies such as the internet, computers, telephones, digital assessment tools, and telemonitoring equipment. Patients are responsible for their own health care at home once they leave a provider s office or a hospital. • 25. The Importance Of The Age Of Discovery Portugal is known for initiating the Age of Discovery. They played an important role in exploration. Many new lands were discovered, boosting trade, power, and wealth, during the Age of Discovery. Early exploration began in the late 1300s and early 1400s under Prince Henry, aka the Navigator. One key factor that led to Portugal s power was Ceuta, a major port city in north Africa, that controlled ships entering and exiting the Mediterranean Sea. King John I, Henry s father, conquered the city after being encouraged by Henry. On an early morning on August 21, 1415, King John I, along with his sons, led an army to Playa San Amaro, a beach in Ceuta. They sieged the garrison and took the Ceuta by nightfall. They went on taking four more islands off the northwest coast of Africa, in which they explored and colonized. In 1431, the Azores were discovered and colonized. In 1443, the Bay of Arguin was colonized, and later, the Portuguese constructed a fort. By 1462, the Portuguese had explored the coast of Africa as far as present day Sierra Leone These colonies produced extozic trade goods, such as wine, spices, ivory, gold, and herbs, making the Portigal not only wealthy but also powerful. The Alchemist takes place in a desert, where Santiago experiences unique difficulties when pursuing his personal legend. The desert becomes a metaphor for the obstacles and hardships that stand in the way of achieving one s dreams. The importance of the setting of a literary work is emphasized by Foster when he states, Geography can also define or even develop a character (175). Setting is used to signify that in pursuing your legend, you may face difficulties, but you should never stop pursuing your dreams as Santiago continued his pursuit. Not only does Coelho use symbolism and setting to further prove his theme, he uses his characters to manifest his notion. Santiago is the ideal individual who listens to omens in order to understand the language of the soul of the world and achieve his personal legend. Santiago ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Expectancy Violations Theory And Human Norms We have all heard the maxim stick to the status quo. The desire to adhere to societal norms influences our everyday actions and largely shapes how we interact with others. What happens when we stray from the norm and do something unexpected? For this assignment, Professor Striley, after explaining the expectancy violations theory, challenged her students to apply its concepts to violate a stranger s expectations in public and record the subsequent response. Through this activity, I learned firsthand that low communicator reward valence potential could cause a seemingly ambiguous violation to seem negative. In this paper, I will first explain the expectancy violations theory and describe the expectancy my group violated for the assignment. Next, I will apply four concepts from the expectancy violations theory to my group s violation. Finally, I will address my own reactions to my group s violation and how it has further shaped by understanding of communicator reward valence and the expectancy violations theory as a whole. The expectancy violations theory is about what happens when we act differently than others predict we will act (Striley, 2015, p. 5). This fixed prediction stems from the idea that individuals generally adhere to social norms, which can be defined as rules indicating how individuals are expected to behave in specific situations (Striley, 2015, p. 7). For example, most people would not wear footie pajamas to a job interview because they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prior to the movement, couples felt persecuted by simply living with one another. With the hippiemovement came the free love philosophy which primarily encouraged the power of beauty and sex.(Hippie Counter Culture 2011, March 9) Especially when looking at statistics, it s easy to see how the hippie movement refashioned sexuality. Studies have shown that between 1965 and 1975, the number of women who experienced premarital sexual intercourse increased dramatically. As intercourse before marriage became accepted, it was clear that a means of contraceptive was needed to avoid unwanted children.
