This document presents a mobile attendance application project. It discusses how the current manual attendance system has limitations like being time-consuming. The project aims to develop an Android application to simplify the attendance process. It will allow teachers to take attendance using their mobile phones and send it to a server database. The Main aim of our project is to automate the attendance in the form of Android Mobile Application. Our intention is to establish a good communication between Student Mentor and parent.We have seen over the years that the process of manual attendance is being carried out across almost all educational institutions. The process is not only time consuming but also sometimes yield inefficient results in the false marking and calculation of attendance. We need not maintain pen and paper based attendance registers. Following this thought, we have proposed a Parent communication register android application APP by which we notify parents via SMS OR a call Notification system which is implemented on Android mobile application.This Android application will give the students attendance information and SMS notification feature whereby every parent will be periodically notified regarding his/her child attendance. Our system primarily focuses on building an efficient and user friendly Android mobile application. The application will be installed on the Mentor phone which runs android OS. It intends to provide an interface to the professor who will require a user id and password to carry out the task. Apart from that, the application would support strong user authentication and quick transmission of data.
This documentation provides a brief insight of face recognition based attendance system using neural networks in terms of product architecture which can be used for educational purpose.

In this project, an attempt has been made to record attendance through mobile devices. The aim of the project is to create an Android mobile application for attendance system that can be used by all teachers for their respective courses. This application fetches the details of the courses allotted to the respective faculty and the students enrolled in the courses from the server using the internet connection. This application takes the attendance in the mobile and can send as push notification to every parents. When the faculty is needed to upload the Homework, they can directly upload it from their mobile on the server.
This application uses Android application development toolkit. Android is a Linux-based operating system developed for smart phones or tablet computers. It is a stack of software that includes operating system, middleware and libraries and APIs written in C. The Android application is developed in Java-like language using the Android software development kit (SDK). The integrated development environment (IDE) which is officially supported for Android apps development and used in this project is Eclipse, which uses the Android Development tools (ADT) plug-in.

The main objective of this paper is to provide an overview on the data mining techniques that have been used to predict students performance. application for an Attendance Monitoring. The application will be installed on the
professor’s phone as well as student’s phone which runs android OS. It intends to
provide an interface to the professor who will require minimal details to input for
marking of attendance of a particular class of students. Apart from that, the application
would support strong user authentication and quick transmission of data. Another
noticeable feature of the
Entire application is to give options to the user such as feedback provision, attendance
retrieval in a very convenient way, messaging between user and professor and
campus notifications like low attendance reminder, lecture amendments to name a few.
The application thus build would also help to avoid the chance of a proxy as the
system has biometric scanning which will serve the purpose of authentication.
6. Current attendance system uses teacher to get the student information through
student matrix card.
After getting the student information, it will send it to the computer in that class
or lab. After that, the individual in charge (professor, teacher, and student) must
connect to the PC using Bluetooth to make his/her see the student attendant in
that class .
A research on Near Field Communication systems for attendance marking has
been carried out, but there were certain limitations in it. There are some
shortcomings in this system.
The attendance marking process is time consuming and tedious. To avoid proxy of
student, manual head count also needs to be performed.
To overcome the above shortcomings, the idea of combining powerful features of
android OS and biometrics would be very helpful.
