A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

ALS MOBILE TEACHER
45. CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED SOLUTIONS MADE
Irregular attendance of learners on
the learning group session.
Utilized individual learning .
Lack of community learning center in
the locality.
Learning sessions were conducted at
a private house locally called as payag-
payag.
Insufficient learning modules for the
A & E System.
Utilized supplementary learning
materials such as books, pamphlets,
articles and other reference/reading
materials.
Insufficient funds for the learners’
materials such as notebooks, paper,
pens, etc.
Requested materials from LGU and
Plan.
47. For successful implementation of ALS programs and projects, the following
ideas are recommended:
1. Implementers should always consider the principles of andragogy in
conducting learning sessions utilizing the four A’s of Adult Learning which
is the Experiential Learning Cycle.
2. Knowledge on the different delivery modes in implementing ALS
programs.
3. There should have a close coordination/partnership with other ALS field
implementers in the community being served.
4. Establishing linkage with community and school leaders is necessary.
5. Use of different reading/reference materials to supplement modular
instruction.
6. Continuous professional development through web surfing/researching of
best practices in ALS implementation.
7. Pride and dedication in implementing ALS programs.

ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM (ALS)
September 25, 2012
Hon. EDGAR C. BOCO
Mayor
Municipality of Hernani
Sir:
Alternative Learning System (ALS) is a parallel learning system of the formal school education, which caters Basic Education to the out of school youth and adults who were unable to finish the
ten-year basic education program.
The learners of the Alternative Learning System, including over-aged in-school students of this municipality will take the Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test at Eastern Samar National
Comprehensive High School, Borongan City, Eastern Samar on October 14, 2012.
Test passers will receive certificate in elementary/secondary level comparable to an elementary/secondary diploma given to formal school graduates.
We lack funds to shore up the learners’ transportation expenses.
We are firmly optimistic on your capacity and benevolence to prop up the learners on this matter.
Hence, we humbly request from your good office financial support towards this meaningful endeavor.
We look forward on your affirmative response to this request.
Thanking you, we remain.
Yours truly,
(Sgd) VICENTE R. ANTOFINA, JR (Sgd) SALVACION C. LOSTE
