How location based services change everythingHoward Smith
Location-based services are increasingly popular with consumers and embraced by businesses. More companies are claiming their business listings on location-based apps and digital signage using these services has led to a 50% increase in footfall for some. Advanced technologies now allow for interactive digital displays that can engage customers based on their location through QR codes, touchscreens, and mobile phones. Many retailers and brands now use digital signage and location-based marketing to directly reach customers in stores and drive purchases.

The Digital Freedom Pass: Emancipation from Digital Slavery.
Dennis J. Snower
Abstract
Digital identity management is currently undertaken by central identity providers, with users providing their data free to digital networks that own their digital identities. If users leave their digital networks, they must leave all their digital possessions, including their digital identities, behind. This system is analogous to slavery. It is neither efficient nor equitable. Users have no assurance that the value of the free data they provide bears any relation to the value of the free services they receive. The digital networks have overwhelming market power relative to their users. This column argues for reform in the form of a Digital Freedom Pass, - the digital equivalent of a wallet containing verified pieces of an individual's digital identity. The person can then choose which identification to share, with whom, and when, allowing emancipation from our current digital slavery
As urban populations grow, cities face challenges in providing infrastructure and public safety for their citizens. Analytics can help cities become smarter by making them instrumented, interconnected and intelligent. This allows cities to gain insights from vast amounts of data to improve outcomes in areas like public safety, transportation, utilities and more. For public safety agencies specifically, analytics enables improved collaboration, predictive capabilities and a more holistic approach to keeping citizens safe.

Social media and networking are driving changes in financial services. Customers are increasingly using social media and expect tailored online banking services available anywhere. This has led to the rise of social lending platforms that operate outside traditional banks. While this poses risks and challenges to banks, there are also opportunities to partner with social lending platforms to offer new services or provide payment processing and risk management. Banks will need to differentiate their offerings and rebuild customer trust to remain competitive as networking continues to change customer expectations and behaviors.
Drivers like population growth, urbanization, and technology are changing cities and challenging transportation systems. Cities are aging with leaky water infrastructure losing up to 20% of supply, and energy blackouts affecting millions. Increased costs inhibit infrastructure upgrades. Questionnaires with employees found the systems increased efficiency by providing real-time access to sales and inventory data from any location. While some employees initially resisted change, training helped adoption and now the systems are relied upon. In conclusion, mobile systems are challenging to implement but provide indispensable benefits by streamlining organization and interpretation of data.
Impact of M-Commerce Technologies on Developing Countriesijtsrd
M commerce is defined as any transaction with monetary value that is conducted via a mobile telecommunication network. M commerce like E commerce can be B2B business to business , P2P person to person or B2C business to customer oriented. The framework divides into couple sub areas based on user's distribution criterion. Mobile E commerce addresses electronic commerce via mobile devices, where the consumer is not in physical or eye contact with the goods that are being purchased. On the contrary in M trade the consumer has eye contact with offered products and services. In both case the payment procedure is executed via the mobile network. Prof. Rekha D. M | Divya. Digital connectivity is a disruptive trend that is influencing society and business through increased online connectivity. It is reshaping industries like travel, health, and retail. Travel companies are implementing virtual reality and wearable tech to enhance the customer experience. In health, tracking devices and apps allow people to quantify their wellness, though some see this as promoting narcissism. Retail is becoming more seamless as customers expect to shop across online and in-store. Digital connectivity is changing consumer expectations and how companies engage with customers.
The document discusses four emerging trends:
1. The nature of success is changing as individuals have greater reach and influence due to the internet.
2. The digital world is expanding through the internet of things (IoT) and connectivity of everyday objects.
3. Power structures are shifting as IoT allows seamless data sharing across networks in a way that decentralizes control.
4. Business models must change and become more transparent as IoT enables real-time data sharing between companies and customers.
The document also summarizes efforts to involve citizens in co-creating IoT solutions through workshops in various cities to help design use cases that meet user needs and address issues of privacy, security and ethics.
Towards smart riyadh riyadh wiki information and complaining systemIJMIT JOURNAL
In the past ten years, the role of citizens to achieve smart city vision is realized and the people-centric Smart City model has been stressed. In this paper, we propose “Riyadh Wiki Information and Complaining System” for citizen engagement in Riyadh city in Saudi Arabia. The system follows the crowd sourcing approach by allowing citizens to act as sources of data to support the government and to improve their city. It also follows the co-design approach by being an open source platform that allows citizens to cooperate to build the system and add new services. The system aims at enhancing citizens’ life and solving governmental issues like transparency, trust, decision-making, and accountability in a cheap way. It is developed as a web-based wiki system, so it can be used easily by the non-skilled citizens while allowing skilled citizens to add new features, functionalities, and new services. It supports both Arabic and English languages and exploits the widespread of social media to attract more citizens. Initial evaluations using eparticipation assessment, web accessibility and web usability evaluation techniques have been carried out and the results show the effectiveness of the system.
