This document summarizes the Chitral Child Survival Project in Pakistan, which used a dual approach of deploying community midwives and establishing community savings groups to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health. Key findings include improved knowledge of danger signs and increased utilization of services. Challenges included cultural barriers, limited emergency transport, and sustainability after project end. Lessons included the importance of community ownership, midwife training and supervision, and engaging leaders to facilitate uptake of services.
