An invasive species is defined as an organism that
is not native and has negative effects on our
economy, our environment or our health. Not all
introduced species are invasive.
4. FISH ZILLA ( SNAKE HEAD FISH)
Scientific name : Channa argus
The snake heads are members of
fresh water perciform fish family
chanmidac, native to Africa and
Asia.
These elongated, predatory fish
are distinguished by their long
dorsal fins, large mouths and
shiny teeth.
Snake heads are thrust feeders
which consume plankton, aquatic
insects and mollusks when small.
An adults, they mostly feed on
other fish or on frogs.
5. EUROPEAN RABBIT
Scientific name : Oryctolagus conicutus
The European rabbit is a species of rabbit
native to south western Europe and
north-west Africa.
It is known as an invasive species
because it has been introduced to
countries on all continents with the
exception of Africa and caused many
problems with in the environment and
ecosystem.
The European rabbit is well known for
digging networks of burrows, called
warrens where it spends most of its time
when not feeding.
6. THE CANE TOAD
Scientific name: Rhinella marina
The cane toad also known as the
giant neotropical or marine toad.
It is a large, terrestrial true toad
which is native to central and south
America.
The cane toad is a prolific breeder
females lay single-clump spawns
with thousands of eggs
The cane toad has poison glands
and the tadpoles are highly toxic to
most animals if ingested.
The cane toad is now considered a
pest and an invasive species in
many of its introduced regions.
7. BLACK RAT
Scientific name: Rattas rattus
The black rat is a common long tailed
rodent of the genus Rattas in the
subfamily marinae
The black rat was one of the many
species originally described by Linnaeus
Alternate names include ship rat, roof
rat, Alexandrine rat and old English rat.
The black rat also has a scraggly coat of
black fur, and is slightly smaller then the
brown rat.
8. WHITE FLY
Scientific name : Tria lecurodes vaporariorum
White flies are small hemip terans that typically
feed on the undersides of plant leaves.
They comprise the family Aleyrodoidea
the only members of the super family
Aleyrodoidea
The ability of white flies to carry and spread
disease is the widest impact they have had on
globin food production
In the tropics and subtropics, white flies have
become one of the most serious crop protection
problems.
The white fly has also been shown to transmit
almost 60 other viral plant disease.
