Stephen Crane Figurative Language Essay
When many people think of war they just think of a bunch of soldiers fighting on a battlefield.
Many people don t think about the families who have just lost loved ones in the war. Some people
don t realize the trauma that the soldiers have to go through because of everything they saw and
endured in the war. Stephen Craneuses figurative language in both his poem and short story to
prove that war is very violent and dangerous. Crane shows his readers different perspectives of the
war in order to show his readers what war is really like. Stephen Crane uses ironyin War is Kind
and A Mystery of Heroism to reveal that he is against the war by using figurative language and by
showing different perspectives of the war.

In War is Kind Crane is talking to the soldiers families specifically to a soldiers baby and another
soldiers girlfriend. Crane talks about two different soldiers one from the north and one from the
south. In War is Kind Crane talks about the soldier from the north when he says The unexplained
glory flies above them... because the north is winning. When Crane talks about the south he
says Swift, blazing flag of the regiment... because the south is losing the war. This shows us two
different perspectives of the war the winning side and the losing side. Another perspective Crane
shows us is in A Mystery of Heroism when Collins puts himself in a dangerous situation to prove
a point and doesn t realize how dangerous it really is. Collins only went to go get water after this
argument There was a quarrel in A Company. Collins was shaking his fist in the faces of some
laughing comrades. Dern yeh! I ain t afraid to go. If yeh say much, I will go! Collins gets in an
argument with his comrades because they think that he will not go get water and he puts himself in
a dangerous situation not realizing it. Collins didn t realize that he could die just trying to make a
point that he could get water. In the story the soldiers do not seem to understand that the situation
that they are in is actually very dangerous

The Conflict Between Religion And Science
Is there a conflict between religion and science, or are both items compatible? This question is
addressed in the debate that is written about in the book Science and Religion, Are they Compatible,
by Daniel C. Dennett and Alvin Plantinga. Alvin Plantinga thoroughly debates the topic by covering
the compatibility of Christianity and science. He continues his argument by stating the issue of
naturalist and science harbor the conflict not the theism. Plantinga goes into detail how some
scientific theories without the help of theism has conflict and should be considered falsifiable
because of the contradictions they possess. While Alvin Plantinga does make a prominent effort to
illustrate how religion and science are compatible, there are alsosome flaws in his well developed
debate between Daniel Dennett.
Alvin Plantinga begins his side of the debate by using Christianity to demonstrate the how science
and religion do not possess a problem together. The items that are used to illustrate the point that is
being made is the different doctrines used in the different types of Christianity, such as the Apostles
Creed. There is not a conflict between the scientific fields of chemistry, physics, or the religion
Christianity. He choose to use the theory of evolution to compare religion against because the theory
of evolution does not state whether it is a guided or unguided process of creation. Plantinga
creatively debates the comparison between the two by using different religious

A System Of Delete Unwanted Messages
A system to delete unwanted messages from osn use walls
abstract
One principal issue in today On line Social Networks (OSNs) is to give clients the capacity to
control the messages posted naturally private space to stay away from that undesirable substance
is shown. Up to now OSNs give little backing to this prerequisite. To fill the crevice, in this paper,
we propose a framework permitting OSN clients to have an immediate control on the messages
posted on their dividers. This is accomplished through an adaptable standard based framework, that
permits clients to tweak the sifting criteria to be connected to their dividers, and a Machine
Learning based delicate classifier consequently naming messages in backing of substance based

We accept that this is a key OSN administration that has not been given in this way. Surely, today
OSNs give almost no backing to avert undesirable messages on client dividers. Case in point, Face
book permits clients to state why should permitted supplement messages in their dividers (i.e.,
companions, companions of companions, or characterized gatherings of companions). Then again,
no substance based inclinations are bolstered and in this manner it is unrealistic to counteract
undesired messages, for example, political or obscene ones, regardless of the client who posts them.

Jfk Inaugural Address Analysis
On January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy gave his inaugural address in front of thousands of
anticipating Americans. Fear and uncertainty was imbedded in the minds of all Americans as the
Cold War neared its climax. The United States were also struggling with racial tensions and social
inequalities, leading into the presidential election of 1961. With severe consideration for the
ongoing national and international turmoil, President Kennedy sought to invoke a sense of unity in
the American people. Furthermore, Kennedy=s inaugural address uses pathos to flatter and
influence the emotions of the people, without distracting from the truth and evidence expected from
a national leader.
Trustworthiness is frequently argued to be one of the most admirable qualities that a president can

Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Laws
Throughout The Jungle Books, by Rudyard Kipling, various laws were shown to create order in
society. The order that originated from the laws create harmony and structure that can affect the
range of simple populations to diverse ecosystems. Mowgli, the main character, encounters all of
the vital laws and observes that each law has a different outcome, yet all of the results are
beneficial to society. Without those laws, order corrupts and violence may break out, for those
laws are meant to keep everyone and everything in place. As a result, Kipling manifests the law of
the Jungle, the Beach, and of Man so that one can understand how order is formed in a society.

As Mowgli discovers, the man are afraid of the jungle animals just like the jungle animals are
afraid of them. Another law man has is to destroy things that they don t understand. Although
there is cruelty involved with this act, it certainly creates order and simplicity within the society
of man. Without order, man would freely roam and have no worries, causing their own village
and society to corrupt due to their foolishness. The Bandar log are a close relative to man, yet
they have no laws in their way of living, which causes consequences from their actions. They
have no law and live swinging around in the jungle, but they are hated by other society and are
left solitary. They are easily afraid and have many enemies, due to their personality and actions.
Because of this, the Bandar log is a perfect example of no order in a society. Thus, the law of Man

Comprehensive Sex Education And Comprehensive Sex Education
Around the country views on sex education differ strongly, typically more religiously affiliated
states promote abstinence while liberal states are in favor of comprehensive sex education.
While both abstinence only sex education and comprehensive sex education aim to shield teens
from the possible dangers of sex, they strongly disagree on what information should be taught
and the outcome said information will have on teens.
Many parents have a strong opinion on how much information their children should be taught,
ranging from nothing at all to everything from human anatomy, STD s, gender studies, and sex
education for queer teens. According to an article titled Comprehensive Sex Education is
Inappropriate and Harmful some parents believe that their authority is being undermined by
comprehensive programs. Comprehensive programs to encourage the use of contraceptives,
even acknowledging the fact that they can be accessed without parental consent. This has been

while others believe it is promoting their kids to make safe choices if they are too embarrassed

An Agile Software Application Development Essay
The top reason for adopting an Agile software application development approach is that it
promotes a culture of collaboration and continuous feedback that concentrates on early delivery of
superior products that meet important end user requirements. Agile software development is in
use by many organizations and has been accepted not only as a method of developing software
but in project management as well. This business case will outline the justification for Company
X to move towards using the Agile development method and help guide management to evaluate
and consider this option. An article related to the Agile method of software development was
perused in preparation for this business case. The article examined is titled Agility in Context [1]
(Hoda et al, 2010). This article along with my prior employment experience with Company X has
helped provide the context for this business case. 3BUSINESS NEED AND CURRENT
SITUATION Company X is large corporation that is involved in producing, selling, and maintaining
advanced technological products to both commercial and non commercial customers. For the
reason that Company X is such a large company, it is assumed that my account of their software
development method is not company wide and only attributable to that section of the company I
was involved in. Based on interactions with the organization s software development team with
regards to a software application request, it was apparent that they followed a

Analyse the Different Ways in Which Countries Can Attempt...
Firstly, the economic problem is split into three questions, which are: what to produce? How to
produce? Who to produce for? These three questions can also be summed up as scarcity which is
the inadequate amount of resources available. Consumers have wants which are unlimited; they
would always want more, but due to the economic problem, scarcity, not everyone will get there
want fulfilled, therefore causing a problem. Different countries can attempt to overcome the
economic problem in several ways; which is to apply a different economy system to their country.
Due to scarcity consumers will now have to make a choice of what they want, by sacrificing the
next best alternative when making a decision, this is known as opportunity cost.... Show more

Example of good entrepreneur is Steve Jobs who was all behind the creation of Apple and the
success of it. Factors of production causes scarcity which in turns leads to people making
choices due to the economy problem in the country; however countries do follow economy
system to try and overcome these problems. These are: free market economy; mixed economy
and command economy. All three handle with basic economic problem differently and are
applied in many different countries. Free market economy is an economy system which is
controlled by supply and demand and has very little or non government influence. Hong Kong
has been one of the freest market economy countries in the world. This year, however, several
government moves have sparked renewed debate as to whether Hong Kong is abandoning its

Shakespeare Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, focuses on identity, love, and comedy. While we made
our adaptation to this play, we chose to have a more modern approach. Because we decided on a
modern adaptation, we had to come up with a modern storyline; therefore, there is still love and
confusion about identity. Taking place in 2015 in Los Angeles, Orsino is the number one modeling
agency in the state. Along with a new setting, we have also changed some actions with the
characters, meaning some things that take place in the playare not a part of our storyline (for
example Feste as the Clown). Our adaptation has the potential to be a real movie because it is
realistic. The main purpose behind Shakespeare s Twelfth Nightwas to entertain, and... Show more

In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to use dramatic
irony. For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that she has a soft looking
feminine face. Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola is in fact a man, it adds to the
irony. Another example is when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how
Duke Orsino was only hiring men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do
anything about it (29 30). This works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the
audience know what Viola meant by her statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that
she was willing to disguise herself as a man. The ironic part is that none of the characters know
that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to be a man. Our adaptation of this play can
work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it up. Since we decided to modernize the
play, our version of it can easily translate to screen. It works especially when specific stage
directions are added to the script. For example, one of the stage directions describes that Viola
flashes her I.D. She waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the screen and looks at the I.D.
, which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands like that make it easy
for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it comes to acting out a part
of the play. But also, because our adaptation is much more modern, it would make it easy for the
play to work as a

The Social Security Act Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt
After getting my first part time, minimum wage job and working for several months, I was given
what is called a W 2 form. A W 2 form broke down my entire income including the income that
never even touched my hand and showed how much of it was withheld for taxes. Social Security
was the largest hunk missing, but I knew that although it pained me to see so much gone I would
get it back one day. However, that money removed went straight into the pockets of recipients, not a
trust fund I would eventually draw from, and the future of the Social Securityprogram (and its
ability to pay me back) was in jeopardy.
After its passage on August 14, 1935, Franklin Delano Roosevelt regarded the Social Security
Act as a cornerstone in a structure which is being built but is by no means completed but whose
purpose is to take care of human needs and at the same time provide for the United States an
economic structure of vastly greater soundness. The very opposite of soundness, however, was
achieved. Today, looming deficits and abuse of the program have left it the focus of many
debates. At their conclusion, the discussions generally only point toward making it more difficult
to receive the money you put in, back, and raising taxes drastically on those still working to
provide benefits for the disproportionate amount of retirees. Its problems are vast, but a permanent
solution has yet to be decided. Far less discussed, however, is if the program itself is worth saving.

A text is essentially a product of its context, as its prevailing values are inherently derived by the
author from society. However, the emergence of post modern theories allows for audience
interpretation, thus it must be recognised that meaning in texts can be shaped and reshaped.
Significantly, this may occur as connections between texts are explored. These notions are reflected
in the compostion of Edson s W;t and Donne s poetry as their relationship is established through
intertextual references, corresponding values and ideas and the use of language features. Edson

A possible passage through the American continent to the indies was earnestly being explored
just as the poet s body was probably being probed and prodded to seek enlightenment or a
successful path. This analogy is made clear by the clever extended pun on straits as both a trade
route and a personal dilemma. They are itemised so that the link is not missed for the Western
Sea, to which all the straits led, also represents death and entry into the next life: So death doth
touch the Resurrection Likewise to John Donne, Edison engages with the concept of death and
what, if anything comes after it. While Bearing does not openly ponder what comes after death
in the play, she is tangibly struggling with the fear of death. Her own feelings are mirrored by
Donne s If poisnous minerals is shown through her analysis. In her analysis she says, Donne

Theme Of Idealism In Twelfth Night
Idealism is the group of philosophies which assert that reality, or reality as we can know it, is
fundamentally mental, mentally constructed, or otherwise immaterial. Idealism emphasizes how
human ideas especially beliefs and values shape society. Essentially, it is any philosophy which
argues that the only thing actually knowable is consciousness, whereas we never can be sure that
matter or anything in the outside world really exists. Thus, the only real things are mental entities,
not physical things. Idealism could include many religious viewpoints, although an Idealistic
viewpoint need not necessarily include God, supernatural beings, or an existence after death.

First is the perception of idealistic love. One of the part of the story that shows idealism upon
love is the love of the character Orsino to Lady Olivia. Let us first describe the idealistic
character of woman Olivia. Olivia is a beautiful lady of noble birth who lives in Illyria. Because
he is described as a noble, Olivia maybe a very beautiful, gorgeous, attractive, prepossessing
woman. That is why Orsino fell in love with her. In the story, Orsino lies around listening to
music, pining away for the love of Lady Olivia. He show to Olivia how deep and passionate his
love for her. However, Olivia refuse the love of orsino for her, because olvia pines away for her
dead brother, and refuses to entertain any proposals of marriage. Because of that occurrence,

to a particular thing can be neutral, either he will get what he want, or worst case he will be

Allotment And Assimilation Era
The Allotment and Assimilation Era was characterized by two different policies. These were
allotment and boarding schools. These periods happened in the time period of about 1887 to
1934. The allotment policy approach was started with The General Allotment Act of 1887
(Dawes Act). This was a grant of 160 acres to each head of a family. Fewer acres were given to
single people or minors. The allotted lands then had to be held in a trust for 25 years in order for
the occupant to get the title to the land. If an Indian were to be alloted land or leave their way of

This is because this affected everyone in the tribe when a child went to boarding school. The
parents and family members were ripped away from the child. The family members also lost their
chance to pass on intergenerational knowledge to their children that they viewed as highly

impact on the child was even worse. The effect was immediate and long lasting. They were
essentially forced to drop their past way of life and adopt an entirely alien culture that the tribal
community often viewed as distasteful. This acculturation caused long term psychological impact
on the families and children that were affected. The children were put through a type of culture
machine that they entered as Natives and left as revamped Anglo citizens. This assimilation often
destroyed the child s sense of belonging in either an Anglo or Native setting because they were
raised in both and had mixed feelings about where they belonged. They often lost their Native
language and culture, and they felt a sense of shame about their Native community and culture. All
of these things add up to cause a major immediate impact on the lives of Native

the other aspects of traveling. Today, I am here to tell you about the stresses and joys of planning
a trip abroad; from planning what your destination/s will be to planning your outfits for the trip, I
will try to cover everything that you can possible need to know. The first thing you need to do when
thinking of traveling abroad is getting all the details planned or at least think them out. You need to
figure out your main destination, you can later add on other destinations but you should know
where you wantto go to for sure first. When figuring out your destination make sure, you really

Who Is Okonkwo s Loss Of Control In Things Fall Apart
Throughout the past two decades, human programmed robots have helped the world in

devices may eventually take the control away from humans. The humanrace is no stranger to such
losses of control, for humans also take control away from other humans. Such an aspect is also
prominently present in literature. An exemplar of such is in Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel Things

Student s Name Professor s Name Course Title April 12, 2013 The Experience of Gender in
Gender Biased Professions Ruth Simpson interviewed 40 males working in the female dominated
professions of primary school teachers, flight attendants, nursing, and librarians to better
understand their experiences. Of those interviewed, only two found their career choice
unsatisfactory and had plans to leave (356). The rest were glad they chose or stumbled upon their
current career. Simpson contrasted the experiences of male flight attendants, nurses, librarians,
and primary school teachers with the theory that minority workers are generally penalized by
increased performance expectations, isolation, and limited opportunities for promotion (352).
Researchers have shown that women in a male dominated workplace suffer from what has been
called token status. A token female employee s high visibility often increases the pressure to
perform at levels above their male peers, their isolation as male employees exaggerate the
differences between men and women, and stereotyping which tends to limit opportunities for
advancement. By contrast, men seem to benefit on several levels by choosing a career in a
female dominated workplace (Simpson 356 364). Simpson found four main effects that were
experienced by her interviewees and these were: (1) career effect, (2) assumed authority effect, (3),
special consideration effect, and (4) zone of comfort effect. The career effect experience was

The company grew rapidly during the 1950s and 1960s due to its strong brand name and near
monopoly share of the consumer and professional power tools markets. This monopoly was
based on Black Decker s pioneering development ofhandheld power tools. It was during this
period that Black Decker expanded rapidly in international markets, typically by serting up
wholly owned subsidiaries in a nation and giving them the tight to develop, manufacture, and
market the company s power tools. As a result, by the early 1980s, the company had 23 wholly
owned subsidiaries in foreign nations and rwo joint ventures. During its period of rapid
international expansion, Blade Decker operated with a decentralized organization. In its 1979
annual report, the company described how In order to be effective in the markerplace, Black

First Aid for Adults Essay
First Aid for Adults
For my listening piece I decided to do a talk on first aid for adults. I identified the main
characteristics of scripted speech and tried to emulate them in my piece. The key characteristics of
instructional speech are that it uses very short, concise sentences to give directions. Long complex
sentences can lead to ambiguity and confusion. Instructional speech uses simple, easy to understand
vocabulary as complicated wording, jargon and terminology make instructions difficult to
understand and may confuse the listener. The points must also be presented in a logical order to
make them easy to follow.
The audience should be addressed directly, using a fairly personal, ... Show more content on

In my third and fourth drafts, I put the information into even smaller blocks to emphasise the
succinct style of writing because I felt that it was still too difficult to follow; so I used more bullet
points and used capitals, underlining and italics to emphasise key words and phrases. Also in the
graphology of the piece I have used dashes in order to more effectively show where the reader
would give a slight pause. An example is in a hundred compressions a minute just under two a
second .
In the third paragraph in particular, the sentences were too complex so having originally written
them as one complex sentence in the pluperfect tense, I broke them down in to one point per
sentence and put them in the present tense so that it would be easier to understand. I also changed
some of the verbs that were in the present tense into the imperative form because it made the
phonology sharper and clearer for the audience to hear. One example is in the sentence After you
have returned to the casualty and rechecked their breathing and they are not breathing or if the
likely cause of unconsciousness is trauma or drowning and they are not breathing, you now give
two rescue breaths . The sentence was much too long and confusing so I changed it to When you
return to the casualty re check their breathing. If they are not breathing or if the likely cause

Increase In Popularity And Rejuvenation Of Blackpool
The topic of the essay will look into the increase in popularity and rejuvenation of the seaside
town of Blackpool in the north west of England. Various factors played a role in the growth in
popularity for visiting Blackpool. The popularity of Blackpool will be compared to the gradual
decline of the destination. The destination will then be analysed to see if the area is contributing
enough facilities for the rejuvenation of Blackpool. Butler s TourismArea Lifecycle will be used to
determine if the area of Blackpool has successfully rejuvenated the area to attract tourists.
Blackpool first reached popularity throughout the eighteenth century. Serval factors resulted in the
expansion of tourism in Blackpool. The first factor was the publishing of a book on the positive
effects of sea water titled the uses of sea water by Richard Russel. In the book, he stated, One
should drink sea water, bathe in it and eat every product of the sea in which its virtue is
concentrated (Russel.R 1760). The printing of the dissertation increased the tourism to Blackpool
slightly. In 1841, the population of Blackpool was one thousand and during the summer the
population rose to three thousand, Walton, J.K. (1998). Without the availability of transport to
Blackpool tourism was only available to affluent people. This stage is the exploration phase of the
tourism area life cycle.
The creation of wakes weeks had a significant impact on the popularity of Blackpool. Wakes weeks

Ms. Conlon Applies The Nursing Process System Or Processes...
Ms. Conlon applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group
level to improve care. Deirdre has been the primary nurse for 6 hemodialysis patients. She has
involved patients and families in monthly interdisciplinary meetings to promote self efficacy and
quality of life. With the help of the interdisciplinary team Deirdre has worked collaboratively to
address and reinforce nutritional needs, social/family issues, barriers to care, and safety concerns.
All of her primary care patients have maintained a goal of 100% for dialysisadequacy (benchmark is
85%) and a vascular access rate of 100% and dictated by KDOQI standards.
Deirdre noted a downward trend of a veteran pts access. With quick intervention the access resulted
in a patent access with better clearances for this patient, and the preservation of the dialysis access.
During the transitioning process to the new hemodialysis unit, Ms. Conlon anticipated the
challenges acquired by learning to set up and use new water equipment in an acute situation. In
response to this, Ms. Conlon created and implemented a reverse osmosis flow sheet to assist her
colleagues with the quick set up of the portable RO in the ICU care setting. This tool resulted in a
smoother transition for her colleagues, improvement in the delivery of care to the acute dialysis
patient, and a decrease in the possibility of staffing overtime.

The Role Of Choice In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Threat and Prestige of Choice Mankind has assumed the role of Godlike power that was
once left in the hand of deities. As a soldier walks onto a battlefield the power that he holds is in
the barrel of the gun. He makes the decisions whether to pull the trigger or not. He makes his
way towards the enemy s base and sees a target. He fires. The power that that soldier had was
once only associated with God. That God has the ability to bring people into this Earth as well as
to take people from it. With mankind s divine powers comes great responsibility. This is what
John Steinbeck is emphasizing in his 1962 Nobel Prize speech. He believes that because human s

This decision that George has to make is not one he wants to do, but one he has to do. While in
hiding George contemplates, And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the
muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his
hand steadied. He pulled the trigger (Steinbeck 106). This quote relates to Steinbeck s nobel
speech because they both relate to the idea that choice is a pain and a virtue. As Steinbeck states
in his speech, The danger and glory and the choice rest finally in man. The test of his
perfectibility is at hand. Having taken Godlike powers, we must seek in ourselves for the
responsibility and the wisdom we once prayed for some deity might have (John Steinbeck
Banquet Speech). This quote from Steinbeck s speech and the quote from Of Mice and Men are
linked through the idea that choice is both a pain and a virtue, and that with choice comes
responsibility and wisdom. George s decision to shoot Lennie is a test of perfectibility in George
s morals if killing Lennie is the right or wrong thing. George is taking Godlike powers as he
contemplates whether to take George from this world.

Analysis Of Katherina In The Taming Of The Shrew
The Taming of the Shrew , has without a doubt concentrated on the taming of the play s
fundamental character, Katherina. With the Renaissance move towards logic and reason,
civilizing citizens is a noteworthy concern in Shakespeare s play. Katherina s human
advancement along these lines comes to fill in as a model not just for the other ladies of the play,
but also the audience (Detmer, 275). The play turns into a model for investigating Renaissance
changes in the society concerning sexual orientation roles as well as the presence of those roles in
public. The taming of the shrew and domestic violence elucidates a more up to date feminist point
of view that perceives Katherina s taming as domestic abuse (Mulherin, 52). Losing some of...

Refined men did not beat their spouses, but rather utilized more sensible strategies to declare
control. As found for Petruchio s situation, policy was utilized to assume complete control over
Katherina and included debilitating and confinement. At the point when Katherina slaps
Petruchio in Act two Scene one, Petruchio s quick reaction is simply the risk of viciousness
however not savagery itself. I ll swear I ll sleeve you in the event that you strike once more, he
says (Shakespeare et al, 21). He at that point physically withholds Katherina expecting complete
control of her body. This would have promoted the new techniques of assuming control over
spouses that were satisfactory in Renaissance society. Be that as it may, Katherina s taming or

Olaudah Equiano Religion
The theme of religion becomes a common thread in the following works of literature, Olaudah
Equiano s slave narrative, written by himself, A Factor in Human Progress, by Frances Ellen
Watkins Harper and in Angelina Grimke s Appeal to Christian Women of the South. Throughout the
history of early American Literature there are many references about God and faith. Ones belief in
their faith is what seems to have given many writers, especially abolitionist, strength and courage to
pursue their writings even amid possible rejection and persecution from others. Olaudah Equianos
slave narrative showed references to his faith. Olaudah expressed his faith during his recount of
the horror of being sold into slavery. In this narrative, there is influence from the Bible. There is
an emphasis on traditional Christian belief. This can be seen in the passage, O, ye nominal
Christians! Might not an African ask you Learned you this from your God, who says unto you,

The Rise Of Awareness Of Police Brutality Towards Black Males
Although written in the late 1980s with the rise of awareness of police brutality towards black
males in America, it is clearly evident that black people are treated differently especially in
terms of racial profiling. According to analysis by New York Civil Liberties Union, in 2013
83% of the people stopped in New York for a frisk and search were black or Hispanic with only
12% being white and of all the people stopped 81% were completely innocent. Racial profiling

changing his behaviour to suit those around him. Selectively picking his attire, the time he

their safety and comfort just because he was a minority, the worst was assumed of him from first

An Analysis Of Pope Innocent IV
This source is an excerpt from a letter from Pope Innocent IV to King henry III of England on the
23rd January 1245, shortly after the sacking of Jerusalem by Khwarezmian forces in the same year.
When a Pope traditionally launches a crusade it is accompanied with excitatoria, formal letters
appealing to nobility and kings for contribution to the forthcoming campaign. Although this letter
was intended for the English king, Peter Jackson implies that the missing letter to King Louis IX

He immediately found himself in a difficult position as pope, with numerous issues arising, such
as the hostility escalating between the Holy Roman Emperor and the papacy, the increase of
Islamic incursions into the Holy Land and of course the Mongol invasion of Europe. There was
indeed prior warning of the defensive vulnerability of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, as Pope
Innocent IV received a letter complaining that there were only one hundred pilgrim knights
defending the city, and more reinforcements from Western Europe was needed for protection.
Although this may have been note by the newly appointed Pope, the struggle with the Holy
Roman Emperor through the continuation of Pope Gregory IX s policy against Frederick II
may have overshadowed this plea from the Holy Land. In fact, Pope Innocent IV s position was
so untenable in Rome due to the Emperor s actions to increase dissent, that he fled to Lyon and
immediately set about organising the Council of Lyon for 1245. His letter to Henry III was part
of an effort from his base in Lyon to call for a crusade in reaction to the sacking of Jerusalem by
the Khwarezmians, but he struggled to garner much support for the crusade due to the internal
struggles within Europe, with only King Louis IX fully committed to the campaign. The
relationship between Pope Innocent IV and King Henry III is one of note, as since the ties
between Rome and the English King were established early through the papal support given to
Henry at the end of the Baron s war. The papacy desperately needed political allies due to the
increasing threat posed by the military might of the Holy Roman Emperor and Henry II could be
said to be one of them. Although the papacy could find respite through their relationship between
the King of France and King of England respectively, the relationship between the two kingdoms
was strenuous. A crusade

Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Muscle Atrophy
The Ubiquitin Proteasome System The ubiquitin proteasome system is needed to rid muscles of
sarcomeric proteins when there are muscle changes. A decrease in muscle mass is associated with:
(1) An increased conjugation of ubiquitin to muscle proteins; (2) an increased proteasomal ATP
dependent activity; (3) increased protein breakdown that can be efficiently blocked by proteasome
inhibitors; and (4) upregulation of transcripts encoding ubiquitin, some ubiquitin conjugating
enzymes (E2), a few ubiquitin protein ligases (E3) and several proteasome subunits (Lecker et al.,

Could A Machine Be Conscious
1 Could a machine be conscious? This question is often dismissed as simple by those that would
say yes in response. The usual claim made by the pro camp is that man is a biological machine
and is conscious, ergo, a machine is conscious. If we, humans, are truly biological machines and
we are at the same time conscious then I would agree that yes, categorically, a machine could be
conscious. But is it really that simple? I contend that it is a more difficult problem but not that it is
a complicated one, merely one of ambiguity which, once resolved, leads the contemplator to the
same conclusion as I do that in fact, no, a machine could not be conscious. I propose that those

machine could fool a human into thinking it was itself another human, and although somewhat
successful with Eliza (Weizenbaum 1976), the premise was quickly, and I opine correctly, attacked
by Searle (1980:417 57) in his Chinese Room thought experiment, proving that a machine can
simulate communication without understanding and is therefore not thinking in the way humans,
or perhaps other living things do. Humans exhibit the ability to pass tests without understanding the
material and, I contend, this is what a machine simulates, the function of memory, not intelligence.

Accounting Is All About The Way In Which Corporations Record
Accounting is all about the way in which corporations record their revenues and assets over a
certain period of time. Although the notion may exist that accounting is merely a recording
function, this is not entirely true. Rather, accountants also analyze the cost structure of certain
transactions and play a strong role in the strategy formulation of mergers acquisitions, for example.
Other responsibilities of accountantsinclude such activities as managing information systems,
tracking financial performance, and assessing tax strategies. Accounting is an exciting career path
that affords various opportunities in terms of career direction. One can enter the field of auditing,
progress into taxation, or transition into management... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of skill required to practice accounting is dependent on the specific position. Generally
speaking, however, most positions will require the ability to analyze information and synthesize it.
Accountants must be able to defend their position with logical reasoning, and use their
communication skills to exhibit fluency in their ability to discern between quality and faulty
financial statements. When one begins a career in accounting, he or she can expect a culture based
on teamwork. The path begins from the position of a junior member. This member must be able to
function as an independent thinker, as many analyses performed will be at the discretion of his or
her manager. Furthermore, the junior member must be able to handle the auditing function and
prepare financial statements. If he or she possesses these traits, the junior member can expect a
bright career. Recently, growth in accounting has increased the number of job openings in the field.
This is supported by bureau of labor statistics which demonstrate the growth. Although the
competitiveness has also been enhanced, if a person comes into accounting with the right skills and
business education, then he or she is positioned for a career of personal and professional
development. Some of the top firms include KPMG, Ernst and Young, Deloitte and Touche, Price
WarterhouseCoopers, Grant Thornton, BDO Seidman, and McGladerly and Pullen. Usually, these
firms hire college

Immigration Law And Family Law
The areas of Immigration Law and Family Law are so intertwined it is almost counterintuitive to
speak of Immigration without any mention of family. Immigration for the most part involves
families; to separate them is a divisive move of excommunication. This is the exact reason why
Homeland Security established the H1 fiancГ©e visa. The H1 fiancГ© visa can expedite the
waiting period for immigration. Essentially an individual can claim that their fiancГ© resides in the
United States and that he/she intends to get married in the United States upon their arrival. These
fast track options have opened the floodgates for abuse with little to no safe guards in place. I
believe this must change.
Recently I volunteered to help on a pro bono case involving ... Show more content on

We proved that immigration abuse amongst family members was not only common, but also
expected of their U.S citizen counterparts. Despite this, we were able to secure a court order
voiding the marriage in the form of an annulment, and not a divorce. The Islamic magistrate would
not dare defy a court order stating such. This in turn, forced the Islamic Court to recognize the
Court Ordered Annulment and voided the Islamic marriage contract. Also, Homeland Security
finally recognized that the marriage was a farce and acknowledged that there was immigration
abuse at hand, thereby revoking the status of the fiancГ© visa.
Working side by side with an attorney on this matter has given me a unique perspective of foreign
family dynamics and if combined with the U.S Family Law, I truly believe I can make a
difference one person at a time. It would be an honor to be amongst those elite attorneys who defy
cultural norms in the face of injustice when recognizing a true family situation versus a

Brand Image Attitude and Perceptions towards a Brand during the Course of an Acquisition in the
clothing industry in the UK
Brand is a powerful tool to attract more consumers to buy particular products. In a developed
country like UK, clothing industry is one of the major industries that substantially contribute to the
economy. As consumer s decision making plays a big role in any market, it is vital to study how
consumers make their choices when purchasing clothes to evaluate the impact of any particular
brand in the market, especially due to the availability of various existing varieties and tough
competition among different brands. Not all consumers are loyal to a single brand and many; often

According to Murphy (1998) In addition to a specific brand name, a brand is also composed of
products, packaging, promotion, advertising, as well as its overall presentation. Branding thus is a
means to distinguish one product from another and these differences may be functional, rational, or
tangible related to product performance of the brand (Keller and Kotler, 2006).
2.2 Brand equity
According to Aaker (1991), Kapferer (2004) and Keller (2003), Building strong brands is one of
the most important goals of product and brand management. Strong brands result in higher revenue
streams, both short term and long term . Therefore, the stated goal of strategic brand management
is to build brands that last for decades and can be leveraged in different product categories and
markets Aaker (1996). To understand how branding effects the purchasing decision of consumers,
many theories emerged in which according to Aaker (1991) has framed a model called Brand
equity model and Keller (1993) has identified a model called the customer based brand equity
model. Both the frameworks have profoundly focused on how consumers recognize and appraise
brands by studying certain information structures (Keller, 1993; Aaker, 1991, 1997).

Toronto Blue Jays Essay
Can The Toronto Blue Jays Make Back To Back Playoff Appearances Last year a whole nation
came together to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays as they made their bid to win the World Series.
It was a feat that they had not accomplished in over 20 years. The excitement across Canada was
unbelievable! People from all over the country were travelling to Toronto and the opponent s city
to show their support for the Jays. Unfortunately, their efforts were cut short in a series loss to the
Kansas City Royals who ended up World Series Champions. Now with the 2016 season around the
corner, can the Blue Jays make it back to back playoff berths with the changes that have been made
in the front office, pitching rotation and player trades?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donaldson hit a .297 avg, hit 41 hrs and 123 RBIs in his first season as a Toronto Blue Jay which
lead to the nickname Bringer of rain . He was traded to the Jays in return for Canadian third
baseman Brett Lawrie. He was an amazing addition to the team with his great skills at third base
and his awesome batting skills. To repeat his remarkable season, Donaldson will need to work
just as hard if not harder than he did last year and stay healthy. It is extremely hard to repeat the
same stats from year to year especially when an injury could occur at anytime and sideline you.
Donaldson maybe able to increase his stats by making pitchers walk him more. This would help
score more runs as well as win more games. Will Donaldson go back to back as a MVP? Can he
bring the rain once again this season? Training camp has begun and fans are gearing up for
another exciting season. They are hoping for a repeat of last year s performance. People are
already speculating that the Toronto Blue Jays are contenders to win the World Series even with
the changes that have been made in the club. Is it too early to think about the playoffs and the
World Series? Will the team be able to overcome the changes that have been made? I guess only
time will tell as the season progresses, but it should be interesting to watch the team develop with

Q2 Analyze and respond to each director s assessment of the financing decision.

and cost reduction opportunities. Board of directors also agrees with the assessment; the only
decision is on the mode to secure funding for the acquisition. Two options available to secure a

1.Issue bonds for 125 million at 6.25% interest rate and 15 year maturity. Annual principal

James opinions that all major players in the industry rely on long term debt in their capital
structure. James s observation seems to be true based on the exhibit 1 where all the player are
showing long term debt to equity ratio. Based on the industry insight, James questions the Winfield
s policy against debt.
We agree with James analysis based on the industry insight. It is a relatively stable industry with
steady forecasts. Probably that is the reason that all other major players do not hesitate in taking
long term debt. We also do not see any reason to avoid long term debt in Winfield.
Q3 How should the acquisition of MPIS be financed, taking into account the issues of control,
flexibility, income, and risk?
Let s look into both the options (debt vs stock) on all the 4 parameters: control, flexibility, income,
and risk.
Control
Winfield is a publicly traded company however, majority of the stocks (79%) are held by Winfield
management. Winfield management will continue to hold 79% stocks if they are raising funds
through debt however, their share will drop to 54% if they decide to raise the money through
common stocks. 54% is still majority of the stocks so Winfield management will continue to control

  • 2. Stephen Crane Figurative Language Essay When many people think of war they just think of a bunch of soldiers fighting on a battlefield. Many people don t think about the families who have just lost loved ones in the war. Some people don t realize the trauma that the soldiers have to go through because of everything they saw and endured in the war. Stephen Craneuses figurative language in both his poem and short story to prove that war is very violent and dangerous. Crane shows his readers different perspectives of the war in order to show his readers what war is really like. Stephen Crane uses ironyin War is Kind and A Mystery of Heroism to reveal that he is against the war by using figurative language and by showing different perspectives of the war. Crane talks about two different soldiers one from the north and one from the south. In War is Kind Crane talks about the soldier from the north when he says The unexplained glory flies above them... because the north is winning. When Crane talks about the south he says Swift, blazing flag of the regiment... because the south is losing the war. This shows us two different perspectives of the war the winning side and the losing side. Another perspective Crane shows us is in A Mystery of Heroism when Collins puts himself in a dangerous situation to prove a point and doesn t realize how dangerous it really is. Collins only went to go get water after this argument There was a quarrel in A Company. Collins was shaking his fist in the faces of some laughing comrades. Dern yeh! I ain t afraid to go. If yeh say much, I will go! Collins gets in an argument with his comrades because they think that he will not go get water and he puts himself in a dangerous situation not realizing it. Collins didn t realize that he could die just trying to make a point that he could get water. In the story the soldiers do not seem to understand that the situation that they are in is actually very dangerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Conflict Between Religion And Science Is there a conflict between religion and science, or are both items compatible? This question is addressed in the debate that is written about in the book Science and Religion, Are they Compatible, by Daniel C. Dennett and Alvin Plantinga. Alvin Plantinga thoroughly debates the topic by covering the compatibility of Christianity and science. He continues his argument by stating the issue of naturalist and science harbor the conflict not the theism. Plantinga goes into detail how some scientific theories without the help of theism has conflict and should be considered falsifiable because of the contradictions they possess. While Alvin Plantinga does make a prominent effort to illustrate how religion and science are compatible, there are alsosome flaws in his well developed debate between Daniel Dennett. Alvin Plantinga begins his side of the debate by using Christianity to demonstrate the how science and religion do not possess a problem together. The items that are used to illustrate the point that is being made is the different doctrines used in the different types of Christianity, such as the Apostles Creed. There is not a conflict between the scientific fields of chemistry, physics, or the religion Christianity. He choose to use the theory of evolution to compare religion against because the theory of evolution does not state whether it is a guided or unguided process of creation. Plantinga creatively debates the comparison between the two by using different religious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A System Of Delete Unwanted Messages A system to delete unwanted messages from osn use walls abstract One principal issue in today On line Social Networks (OSNs) is to give clients the capacity to control the messages posted naturally private space to stay away from that undesirable substance is shown. Up to now OSNs give little backing to this prerequisite. To fill the crevice, in this paper, we propose a framework permitting OSN clients to have an immediate control on the messages posted on their dividers. This is accomplished through an adaptable standard based framework, that permits clients to tweak the sifting criteria to be connected to their dividers, and a Machine Learning based delicate classifier consequently naming messages in backing of substance based separating. Record Terms On line Social Networks, Information Filtering, Short Text Classification, Policy based Personalization existing system: We accept that this is a key OSN administration that has not been given in this way. Surely, today OSNs give almost no backing to avert undesirable messages on client dividers. Case in point, Face book permits clients to state why should permitted supplement messages in their dividers (i.e., companions, companions of companions, or characterized gatherings of companions). Then again, no substance based inclinations are bolstered and in this manner it is unrealistic to counteract undesired messages, for example, political or obscene ones, regardless of the client who posts them. • 6. Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Laws Throughout The Jungle Books, by Rudyard Kipling, various laws were shown to create order in society. The order that originated from the laws create harmony and structure that can affect the range of simple populations to diverse ecosystems. Mowgli, the main character, encounters all of the vital laws and observes that each law has a different outcome, yet all of the results are beneficial to society. Without those laws, order corrupts and violence may break out, for those laws are meant to keep everyone and everything in place. • 11. Analyse the Different Ways in Which Countries Can Attempt... Firstly, the economic problem is split into three questions, which are: what to produce? How to produce? Who to produce for? These three questions can also be summed up as scarcity which is the inadequate amount of resources available. Consumers have wants which are unlimited; they would always want more, but due to the economic problem, scarcity, not everyone will get there want fulfilled, therefore causing a problem. Different countries can attempt to overcome the economic problem in several ways; which is to apply a different economy system to their country. Due to scarcity consumers will now have to make a choice of what they want, by sacrificing the next best alternative when making a decision, this is known as opportunity cost.... • 12. Shakespeare Twelfth Night William Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, focuses on identity, love, and comedy. While we made our adaptation to this play, we chose to have a more modern approach. Because we decided on a modern adaptation, we had to come up with a modern storyline; therefore, there is still love and confusion about identity. Taking place in 2015 in Los Angeles, Orsino is the number one modeling agency in the state. Along with a new setting, we have also changed some actions with the characters, meaning some things that take place in the playare not a part of our storyline (for example Feste as the Clown). Our adaptation has the potential to be a real movie because it is realistic. The main purpose behind Shakespeare s Twelfth Nightwas to entertain, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to use dramatic irony. For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that she has a soft looking feminine face. Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola is in fact a man, it adds to the irony. Another example is when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29 30). This works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience know what Viola meant by her statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that she was willing to disguise herself as a man. The ironic part is that none of the characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to be a man. Our adaptation of this play can work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it up. Since we decided to modernize the play, our version of it can easily translate to screen. It works especially when specific stage directions are added to the script. For example, one of the stage directions describes that Viola flashes her I.D. She waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the screen and looks at the I.D. , which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands like that make it easy for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it comes to acting out a part of the play. But also, because our adaptation is much more modern, it would make it easy for the play to work as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Social Security Act Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt After getting my first part time, minimum wage job and working for several months, I was given what is called a W 2 form. A W 2 form broke down my entire income including the income that never even touched my hand and showed how much of it was withheld for taxes. Social Security was the largest hunk missing, but I knew that although it pained me to see so much gone I would get it back one day. However, that money removed went straight into the pockets of recipients, not a trust fund I would eventually draw from, and the future of the Social Securityprogram (and its ability to pay me back) was in jeopardy. After its passage on August 14, 1935, Franklin Delano Roosevelt regarded the Social Security Act as a cornerstone in a structure which is being built but is by no means completed but whose purpose is to take care of human needs and at the same time provide for the United States an economic structure of vastly greater soundness. The very opposite of soundness, however, was achieved. Today, looming deficits and abuse of the program have left it the focus of many debates. At their conclusion, the discussions generally only point toward making it more difficult to receive the money you put in, back, and raising taxes drastically on those still working to provide benefits for the disproportionate amount of retirees. Its problems are vast, but a permanent solution has yet to be decided. Far less discussed, however, is if the program itself is worth saving. Because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the emergence of post modern theories allows for audience interpretation, thus it must be recognised that meaning in texts can be shaped and reshaped. Significantly, this may occur as connections between texts are explored. These notions are reflected in the compostion of Edson s W;t and Donne s poetry as their relationship is established through intertextual references, corresponding values and ideas and the use of language features. They are itemised so that the link is not missed for the Western Sea, to which all the straits led, also represents death and entry into the next life: So death doth touch the Resurrection Likewise to John Donne, Edison engages with the concept of death and what, if anything comes after it. While Bearing does not openly ponder what comes after death in the play, she is tangibly struggling with the fear of death. Her own feelings are mirrored by Donne s If poisnous minerals is shown through her analysis. • 17. Theme Of Idealism In Twelfth Night Idealism is the group of philosophies which assert that reality, or reality as we can know it, is fundamentally mental, mentally constructed, or otherwise immaterial. Idealism emphasizes how human ideas especially beliefs and values shape society. Essentially, it is any philosophy which argues that the only thing actually knowable is consciousness, whereas we never can be sure that matter or anything in the outside world really exists. Thus, the only real things are mental entities, not physical things. Because he is described as a noble, Olivia maybe a very beautiful, gorgeous, attractive, prepossessing woman. That is why Orsino fell in love with her. In the story, Orsino lies around listening to music, pining away for the love of Lady Olivia. He show to Olivia how deep and passionate his love for her. However, Olivia refuse the love of orsino for her, because olvia pines away for her dead brother, and refuses to entertain any proposals of marriage. These periods happened in the time period of about 1887 to 1934. The allotment policy approach was started with The General Allotment Act of 1887 (Dawes Act). This was a grant of 160 acres to each head of a family. Fewer acres were given to single people or minors. The allotted lands then had to be held in a trust for 25 years in order for the occupant to get the title to the land. This is because this affected everyone in the tribe when a child went to boarding school. The parents and family members were ripped away from the child. The family members also lost their chance to pass on intergenerational knowledge to their children that they viewed as highly important. The entire tribal community was shaken because of the literal loss of a member. The impact on the child was even worse. The effect was immediate and long lasting. They were essentially forced to drop their past way of life and adopt an entirely alien culture that the tribal community often viewed as distasteful. This acculturation caused long term psychological impact on the families and children that were affected. The children were put through a type of culture machine that they entered as Natives and left as revamped Anglo citizens. This assimilation often destroyed the child s sense of belonging in either an Anglo or Native setting because they were raised in both and had mixed feelings about where they belonged. They often lost their Native language and culture, and they felt a sense of shame about their Native community and culture. Gender Stratification in the Workplace Student s Name Professor s Name Course Title April 12, 2013 The Experience of Gender in Gender Biased Professions Ruth Simpson interviewed 40 males working in the female dominated professions of primary school teachers, flight attendants, nursing, and librarians to better understand their experiences. Of those interviewed, only two found their career choice unsatisfactory and had plans to leave (356). The rest were glad they chose or stumbled upon their current career. Simpson contrasted the experiences of male flight attendants, nurses, librarians, and primary school teachers with the theory that minority workers are generally penalized by increased performance expectations, isolation, and limited opportunities for promotion (352). Researchers have shown that women in a male dominated workplace suffer from what has been called token status. A token female employee s high visibility often increases the pressure to perform at levels above their male peers, their isolation as male employees exaggerate the differences between men and women, and stereotyping which tends to limit opportunities for advancement. By contrast, men seem to benefit on several levels by choosing a career in a female dominated workplace (Simpson 356 364). Simpson found four main effects that were experienced by her interviewees and these were: (1) career effect, (2) assumed authority effect, (3), special consideration effect, and (4) zone of comfort effect. The key characteristics of instructional speech are that it uses very short, concise sentences to give directions. Long complex sentences can lead to ambiguity and confusion. There was indeed prior warning of the defensive vulnerability of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, as Pope Innocent IV received a letter complaining that there were only one hundred pilgrim knights defending the city, and more reinforcements from Western Europe was needed for protection. Although this may have been note by the newly appointed Pope, the struggle with the Holy Roman Emperor through the continuation of Pope Gregory IX s policy against Frederick II may have overshadowed this plea from the Holy Land. In fact, Pope Innocent IV s position was so untenable in Rome due to the Emperor s actions to increase dissent, that he fled to Lyon and immediately set about organising the Council of Lyon for 1245. • 40. Muscle Atrophy Research Paper Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Muscle Atrophy The Ubiquitin Proteasome System The ubiquitin proteasome system is needed to rid muscles of sarcomeric proteins when there are muscle changes. A decrease in muscle mass is associated with: (1) An increased conjugation of ubiquitin to muscle proteins; (2) an increased proteasomal ATP dependent activity; (3) increased protein breakdown that can be efficiently blocked by proteasome inhibitors; and (4) upregulation of transcripts encoding ubiquitin, some ubiquitin conjugating enzymes (E2), a few ubiquitin protein ligases (E3) and several proteasome subunits (Lecker et al., 2006, p. 25). • 41. Could A Machine Be Conscious 1 Could a machine be conscious? This question is often dismissed as simple by those that would say yes in response. The usual claim made by the pro camp is that man is a biological machine and is conscious, ergo, a machine is conscious. If we, humans, are truly biological machines and we are at the same time conscious then I would agree that yes, categorically, a machine could be conscious. But is it really that simple? I contend that it is a more difficult problem but not that it is a complicated one, merely one of ambiguity which, once resolved, leads the contemplator to the same conclusion as I do that in fact, no, a machine could not be conscious. I propose that those who argue the yes case that a machine can be conscious are, in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are all actions definable in their own right, which, I contend need not be sub categories of, or allocated to the definition of consciousness and, unlike the hard problem of consciousness which we will come to shortly, they can be explained by science in a physical context and therefore be impersonated by machinery. They have physical qualities which are an important distinction in the 3 concept of Artificial Intelligence which claims the ability of machines to achieve consciousness, arising in theory out of intelligence. The most prominent example of the concept of a machine being intelligent in the manner of this so called consciousness is the Turing test (Turing, 1950) which, rather tellingly, was originally called the Imitation Game . The test was designed to see if a machine could fool a human into thinking it was itself another human, and although somewhat successful with Eliza (Weizenbaum 1976), the premise was quickly, and I opine correctly, attacked by Searle (1980:417 57) in his Chinese Room thought experiment, proving that a machine can simulate communication without understanding and is therefore not thinking in the way humans, or perhaps other living things do. Humans exhibit the ability to pass tests without understanding the material and, I contend, this is what a machine simulates, the function of memory, not intelligence. Even if it could fool a ... Immigration for the most part involves families; to separate them is a divisive move of excommunication. This is the exact reason why Homeland Security established the H1 fiancГ©e visa. The H1 fiancГ© visa can expedite the waiting period for immigration. Essentially an individual can claim that their fiancГ© resides in the United States and that he/she intends to get married in the United States upon their arrival. Despite this, we were able to secure a court order voiding the marriage in the form of an annulment, and not a divorce. The Islamic magistrate would not dare defy a court order stating such. This in turn, forced the Islamic Court to recognize the Court Ordered Annulment and voided the Islamic marriage contract. Also, Homeland Security finally recognized that the marriage was a farce and acknowledged that there was immigration abuse at hand, thereby revoking the status of the fiancГ© visa.
