4. What is an Adverb?
An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.
Example:
1. Anita placed the vase carefully. (An adverb modifying a verb)
2. Peter had an extremely ashen face. (adverb modifying an adjective)
3. Peter Jackson finished his assignment remarkably quickly. (Adverb
modifying an adverb)

5. Types of Adverbs
Adverb of Manner
This will explain how an action is carried out or done. Very often adverbs of manner
are adjectives with –ly added to the end, but this certainly not always the case. In fact
some adverbs of manner will have the same spelling as the adjective form.
Example:

6. Adverbs of Place
Is sometimes called spatial adverbs, it will help explain where
an action happens. Adverbs of place will be associated with the
action of the verb in a sentence, providing the context for
direction, distance and position.

2. First, I looked here, and then I looked there, but I can’t find
them anywhere.
