This document outlines the course contents for an advanced power electronics course focusing on Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) and HVDC transmission. The course covers topics such as reactive power control in transmission systems, conventional reactive power compensators like thyristor-controlled reactors and capacitors, HVDC transmission system development and equipment, HVDC converter types including six pulse and twelve pulse configurations, converter operation and analysis, and HVDC system control mechanisms. The course aims to provide students understanding of flexible transmission technologies for improving power transfer capacity and stability of electrical networks.
