Adobe Photoshop is an image editing software developed by Adobe Systems. It allows users to enhance and manipulate images to achieve desired outputs. Photoshop was created in 1988 and officially released in 1990. It consists of toolbars, menus, options bars, workspaces and palettes to manage layers, history, adjustments and colors. Photoshop has a variety of selection, navigation, retouching and painting tools to edit images. Some examples are the marquee, lasso and quick selection tools for selecting portions of images, and the brush, eraser and blur tools for editing pixels.

It can enhance and even
manipulate images to get your
desired output.

3. HISTORY
Photoshop was created by Thomas and John Knoll. In
September 1988, Adobe Systems purchased the license to
distribute Photoshop and, after some major improvements,
it was officially released in February 1990 as Photoshop
1.0.
The program continued to adopt the version number to its
name until Photoshop 7. Adobe renamed the following
version as Photoshop Creative Suite(CS) until Photoshop
CS6.
In June 2013, with the introduction of Creative Cloud
branding, Photoshop’s licensing scheme was changed to
that of software as a service rental model and the “CS”
suffixes were replaced with “CC”

an adjustable round brush tip.
• Magic Wand Tool- selects similarly colored areas.

• Spot Healing Brush Tool- quickly removes blemishes and
imperfections from photographs with a uniform background.
• Healing Brush Tool- paints with a sample or pattern to repair
imperfections in an image.
• Content-Aware Move Tool- recompose and blend pixels to
accommodate a moved object.
• Patch Tools- repair imperfections in a selected area of an image using
a sample or pattern.
• Red Eye Tool- removes red-eye in a flash photos with one click.
• Clone Stamp Tool- paints with a sample of an image.
• Pattern Stamp Tool- paints with a part of an image as a pattern.

• Eraser Tool- erases pixels and restores parts of an image to a previously saved
state.
• Background Eraser Tool- clears content of background layer to transparency.
• Magic Eraser Tool- erases solid colored areas to transparency with a single
click
• Blur Tool- blurs hard edges in an image.
• Sharpen Tool- sharpens soft edges in an image
• Smudge Tool- used to smear paint on your canvas
• Dodge Tool- lighten areas of an image
• Burn Tool- darken areas of an image
• Sponge Tool- changes the color saturation of an area.

• Art History Brush Tool- paints stylized strokes that simulate the look of
different paint styles, using a selected state or snapshot.
• Gradient Tool- creates straight-line, radial, angle, reflected, and diamond
blends between colors
• Paint Bucket Tool- fills similarly colored areas with the foreground color
