Student Owned Device Pilot (cont’d) History January 2011 – one school used SODs for Diploma Exam written responses and one school used SODs for Achievement written responses Students can use PCs or Macs (not Ipad) Practice Schools can have access to the secure Quest A+ Locked Browser on demand. Students practice with the Quest A+ word processor and teachers practice printing Printing Teachers print from a central test “monitor” Students could have virtual printers or access to outside printers

Student Owned Device Pilot (cont’d) During an assessment Every 50th character, responses are sent to Learner Assessment Students can “force save” at any time Teachers can print from the test monitor at any time Index number automatically inserted After the assessment Teachers print from the test monitor Students staple in their booklets as per usual Advantages for schools Technicians no longer have to disable internet, etc. Technicians no longer need to wipe responses from the network
