SlideShare a Scribd company logo
Advertising is generally used to manipulate
behavior, and unfortunately rarely has the
benefits of the consumer in mind. Children are
manipulated by sound and video into believing
they will find fun and happiness in all sorts
products, most of which are not the best
products in which to find such experiences.
Advertising can be a form of passing on
information. This can have pros, such as
teaching kids to exercise, eat healthy, read,
how to react to strangers, etc. These are
usually in the form of public service
announcements, so perhaps a variation of
"advertisement".
Most of the pros are for the companies that do
the advertising. Mainly, they get children
hooked on their products and then the children
complain to their parents who then buy stuff for
the children and the best part is the company
why makes money. Also, for a company like
McDonalds, they advertise kid's meals and
such so that they get people hooked on
McDonalds while they are young to build
customer loyalty. In other words, when the
children grow up, they will continue to eat there
since they have fond memories of their
childhood. companies such as these for
example only promoting the consumism to food
fast, becoming a risk factor for methabolics
diseases.
Although advertisements help us to
become aware of the products in the
market, they have their negative effects
also. Children today are exposed to all
types of advertisements
Children encounter advertising in many
forms - TV, radio, billboards, magazines and
newspapers - and new kinds of advertising
are developing all the time. For example,
advertising can occur in movies, on the
internet,
i believe thatChildrentodayare exposedtoall
typesof advertisementsbecausethey
encounteradvertisinginmanyforms- TV,
radio,billboards,magazinesandnewspapers -
and newkindsof advertisingare developingall
the time.Forexample,advertisingcanoccur in
movies, onthe internet,ora programof
television.
Whena marketeradvertisesaproducton
television, theydonotunderstandthatitis a
businessandtheirmainaimisto sell.Theydo
not understandthatadvertiserstrytopush
theirproductsand marketinsuch a way that
childrenwanttobuy it.Childrentake
everythingatface value andbelieve withouta
doubtthe messagesinthe advertisements.
Advertisementsare made insucha wayas to
attract the attentionof children.Childrendo
not understandittobe marketingstrategyand
onlytheyrequest.

  • 1. Advertising is generally used to manipulate behavior, and unfortunately rarely has the benefits of the consumer in mind. Children are manipulated by sound and video into believing they will find fun and happiness in all sorts products, most of which are not the best products in which to find such experiences. Advertising can be a form of passing on information. This can have pros, such as teaching kids to exercise, eat healthy, read, how to react to strangers, etc. These are usually in the form of public service announcements, so perhaps a variation of "advertisement". Most of the pros are for the companies that do the advertising. Mainly, they get children hooked on their products and then the children complain to their parents who then buy stuff for the children and the best part is the company why makes money. Also, for a company like McDonalds, they advertise kid's meals and such so that they get people hooked on McDonalds while they are young to build customer loyalty. In other words, when the children grow up, they will continue to eat there since they have fond memories of their childhood. companies such as these for example only promoting the consumism to food fast, becoming a risk factor for methabolics diseases.
