SUGGESTIONS
TV advertising has emerged as the most innovative and an effective means of communicating with the customers. It has grown increasingly sophisticated, elaborative and highly personal in nature. Advertisers can fine tune a particular message, intrude the human minds and generate a desired response.
In recent years, children’s market has become very important to manufacturers and marketers. They are the main focus in any form of advertising and their role in advertising is increasing day by day. Exorbitant amount of money and efforts are being spent on advertising to reach this segment.
There are many aspects that make children an important segment. They are indulging in independent shopping at a much younger age than the earlier generations, and have an increasing influence on their families’ purchase (though their contribution varies by product category). Children as young as three years old develop an ability to recognize advertising and by the age of 7 or 8 years, they are capable of understanding exactly what advertisers are trying to achieve and by ten, children become adept critics and prove to be a tough audience to please (Rossiter and Robertson, 1976).
Marketers use all possible tactics to muster the attention of the children which may include illegal, dirty or underhand tricks, promoting untrue claims and reliance on false information. There has been a growing concern about the effect of TV advertising on the juvenile minds of the children. Parents are really concerned as they believe that children are like a sponge that absorbs things easily, hence they are concerned with the immediate and the long term impact the TV advertising would have on the overall development of their children. Parents are of the opinion that TV advertising makes children materialistic, aggressive, eccentric, rude, violent and sometimes intolerant about the world around them.
The above-mentioned concerns regarding TV advertising to children has made it imperative for the parents to think seriously and undertake certain concrete measures to try and limit influence of TV advertising on children. Some parents are of the opinion that it is the responsibility of the government to enforce strict regulations and control over TV advertising. On the other hand, some researchers consider that it is the responsibility of the parents to mediate and safeguard the interests of their children (Nathanson et al., 2002).
A great amount of research on advertising over the past few decades has focused on the construct, ‘Attitude towards advertising,’ which was first introduced by (Bauer and Geyser, 1968). Subsequently the researchers have tried to focus on different dimensions of attitude by targeting specific populations. However, attitude of parents towards TV advertising directed at children has not fancied many investigators, particularly in India. Whatever research is available has been conducted in developed countries.
There are some findings that whi.
A two-part report published in February 2004. Part one details and analyses the results of a MORI poll, which found that 84% of parents felt that companies targeted their children too much. It also sets out the Family and Parenting Institute’s recommendations and looks at how other countries approach the issue. Part two presents the full report of a conference on marketing to children, which brought together opinion formers and policy makers in an open debate on the topic.
Advertising is a promotion method that supports the economy of many countries via campaign
and trading of products and services to clients including children and adults. Product and
marketing directed to children has in the past years increased tremendously and is an increasing
interest on child clients. The flexibility of children’s income is one of the reasons behind the
trend and how they influence the acquisition of their parents.

Responsible Marketing to Children - Position Paper by Sportz Village.pdfUpmaKanswa1
It is common to see brands adopt 'responsible' 4Ps of marketing since consumers are now actively demanding greater progress on sustainability and social change; and they need to see real action on ground! And for brands looking to engage with kids, it is a far greater responsibility since advertising and communication to kids is under greater regulatory and public scrutiny. Is there a way for brands to co-opt a social cause with children, actively and responsibly involve them in brand campaigns, while creating ample opportunities to build mindshare for the brand - all at the same time? Our paper provides a solution framework that can help brands bridge the gap between promise and action towards a cause by involving children as their brand evangelists and schools as the centre of action.
World Children Consumer Market is bigger than the GDP of India. This presentation is about How children as a consumer behaves & influence the buying behaviour of their parents or guardian. Here it is also expalined the different stages where a child go through a phase of silent observer to independent buyer.some case studies are also expalined.

Companies should market to children. this is simply because they are more likely to take advantage than adults are, making the influent on them easy. Children have no logical intellectual skills that enable them to understand and understand the nature or intent they use and harm of the marketing that is directed to them since they become socially engaged at a very young age into paying attention to marketing messages both in and out of school. Unlike adults, children can easily be said to believing in what they see than what they hear and this makes it a more powerful force for companies to market to children as opposed to adults
Secondly marketers as well as advertisers are focusing on the younger demographics and are increasingly targeting teenagers and younger children since they believe that these kids bare a huge control on the kind of decisions their parents have in line with their spending. Marketing also work to threaten children faith in their own abilities as well as capabilities in mastering the several important skills and perceptions when learning in their various schools making them passive learner in need of external assistance to improve on their learning experience. It is for this reason that various companies and business enterprises decide to associate their success to the happiness and well-being of children (Clay, 2014)
Marketing also help in assisting parents educating and enlightening children on ways of equating themselves with the right food choices by providing them with easy to access nutritional information on their products labels both in print and video as well as in social media by providing them the necessary tools to make informed choices. This further entails giving appropriate guidance that would enable them make informed choices in the future when faced with any difficulties. It is also for this reason that children start putting their faith more in marketer that their own parents or relations. This will further help in improving the nutritional environment for youth. This is usually done through the many policy changes those companies normally per take in.
Through the different techniques used by different marketing companies such as celebrities, premiums or even clubs makes it very possible for them to create a big marketing project among children and this further enable sell their products easily to kids.
Even though companies that target children with their product can easily impact negatively on a child attitude. Since some of their products can easily work to determine a childs popularity among their friends which as a result create an increasingly mean spirited behavior leading to a number of them being bullied by others and having them judge themselves more on what they have rather than what they do. Assignment 1 Discussion—Environmental FactorsIn this assignment, .docxdeanmtaylor1545
Assignment 1: Discussion—Environmental Factors
In this assignment, you will have a chance to discuss a topic that brings personality theory together with social psychology. Dealing with unhealthy groups like gangs or cults is an important issue in social psychology. However, you cannot fully address this issue if you do not first understand personality development and how one’s personality affects the choices that are made. Specifically, you will look at Skinner’s behavioral perspective on personality development and discuss how that theory can play a role in this issue of unhealthy groups.
Bob is an adolescent who grew up in a gang-infested part of a large city. His parents provided little supervision while he was growing up and left Bob mostly on his own. He developed friendships with several kids in his neighborhood who were involved in gangs, and eventually joined a gang himself. Now crime and gang activities are a way of life for Bob. These have become his way to identify with his peer group and to support himself.
It is relatively easy to see that Bob’s environment has played a large role in his current lifestyle. This coincides with Skinner’s concept of environment being the sole determinant of how personality develops. Skinner believed that if you change someone’s environment and the reinforcements in that environment, you can change their behavior.
Use the Internet, Argosy University library resources, and your textbook to research Skinner’s concept of the environment and answer the following questions:
If you were to create an environment for Bob to change his behavior from that of a gang member to a respectable and law-abiding citizen, what types of environmental changes and positive reinforcements would you suggest and why?
What are some interventions that are used in the field currently? Are there any evidence-based programs that use these environmental and reinforcement interventions?
Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Assignment 1 Dealing with Diversity in America from Reconstructi.docxdeanmtaylor1545
Assignment 1:
Dealing with Diversity in America from Reconstruction through the 1920s
Due Week 3 and worth 120 points
After the Civil War, the United States had to recover from war, handle western expansion, and grapple with very new economic forms. However, its greatest issues would revolve around the legacies of slavery and increasing diversity in the decades after the Civil War. In the South, former slaves now had freedom and new opportunities but, despite the Reconstruction period, faced old prejudices and rapidly forming new barriers. Immigrants from Europe and Asia came in large numbers but then faced political and social restrictions. Women continued to seek rights. Yet, on the whole, America became increasingly diverse by the 1920s. Consider developments, policies, and laws in that period from 1865 to the 1920s. Examine the statement below and drawing from provided sources, present a paper with specific examples and arguments to demonstrate the validity of your position.
Statement—in which you can take a pro or con position:
Political policies and movements in the period from 1865 to the 1920s generally promoted diversity and “the melting pot” despite the strong prejudices of a few. (or you can take the position that they did not). Use specific examples of policies or movements from different decades to support your position.
After giving general consideration to your readings so far and any general research, select one of the positions above as your position—your thesis. (Sometimes after doing more thorough research, you might choose the reverse position. This happens with critical thinking and inquiry. Your final paper might end up taking a different position than you originally envisioned.) Organize your paper as follows, handling these issues:
The position you choose —or something close to it—will be the thesis statement in your opening paragraph.
To support your position, use three (3) specific examples from different decades between 1865 and 1930. You may narrowly focus on race or gender or immigrant status, or you may use examples relevant to all categories.

Assignment 1 Due Monday 92319 By using linear and nonlinear .docxdeanmtaylor1545
Assignment 1: Due Monday 9/23/19
By using linear and nonlinear methods of listening, the counselor can respond in meaningful ways which can create a healthy therapeutic alliance. During the assessment, the client will often provide a wealth of information. It is the job of the counselor to listen in order to identify needs, resources, strengths and abilities. The counselor may pick up on gaps in the client's story during the assessment. This is likely because the client will tell the conscious part of the story. However, we must also listen to what is NOT being said.
Counselors must consider the unconscious part of the story during the assessment. One way for the counselor to do this is by being mindful of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). How might recognizing ACES:
1) inform the counselor during the assessment?
2) guide goal development for the treatment episode?
3) affect the clients readiness to change?

1. Find a good website in which you can use for the exercise. If you want your students to learn more about zoo animals, then maybe you should locate your local zoo website and use it as a source. Make sure you choose a site that is age appropriate for your students. And please identify which grade and subject level you have chosen in the title.
2. After deciding on a website, create the student instructions for this exercise. Make sure to incorporate aesthetic value (picture). The instructions are very important because you do want your students to be excited about the activity.
3. You will ask the students 10 questions about the site and its information. Be sure the website is clear in its direction and easily navigated so the students can find the information. Create the questions and type them into a Word document with lines for students to use to fill in their answers.
4. After you finish your WebQuest, make sure you include a sheet with the answers to the questions.
5. Save the document as a .doc, .docx, or pdf and submit it via the assignment drop box by clicking on the title of the assignment.
Submission: To submit, choose the Assignment 4: WebQuest link above and use the file attachment feature to browse for and upload your completed document. Remember to choose Submit to complete the submission.

Assignment 2
This assignment is due in Module 9. The objective of this lesson is to utilize the Internet to help clarify/expand upon your teaching, while creating a field trip environment for your students.
There are times when you will not have the funding to take your class on an actual field trip. With the help of technology, you can now visit various sites without leaving the room. For assignment 4, you are going to plan a virtual field trip for your classroom. Think about the grade level, subject area, possible topics for the curriculum that you teach, and appropriate online communication. You must create an original, virtual field trip. You cannot use someone else's field trip. Remember, you can utilize various software (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) to create this field trip, but be careful, it is not a lesson with technology assisted software. The students have to feel like they are truly at the location of the field trip looking at the exhibit, animal, statue, and so forth. There should be no words on the slides because it is not a classroom lesson, it is a field trip.
You will be the tour guide, and everything you plan to say as the guide shoul.

Chapter 1: What Is an
Information System?
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this chapter, you will be
able to:
• define what an information system is by identifying
its major components;
• describe the basic history of information systems;
and
• describe the basic argument behind the article
“Does IT Matter?” by Nicholas Carr.
Introduction
Welcome to the world of information systems, a world that seems to
change almost daily. Over the past few decades information systems
have progressed to being virtually everywhere, even to the point
where you may not realize its existence in many of your daily
activities. Stop and consider how you interface with various
components in information systems every day through different

System? | 9
electronic devices. Smartphones, laptop, and personal computers
connect us constantly to a variety of systems including messaging,
banking, online retailing, and academic resources, just to name a
few examples. Information systems are at the center of virtually
every organization, providing users with almost unlimited
resources.
Have you ever considered why businesses invest in technology?
Some purchase computer hardware and software because everyone
else has computers. Some even invest in the same hardware and
software as their business friends even though different technology
might be more appropriate for them. Finally, some businesses do
sufficient research before deciding what best fits their needs. As
you read through this book be sure to evaluate the contents of each
chapter based on how you might someday apply what you have
learned to strengthen the position of the business you work for, or
maybe even your own business. Wise decisions can result in stability
and growth for your future enterprise.
Information systems surround you almost every day. Wi-fi
networks on your university campus, database search services in
the learning resource center, and printers in computer labs are
good examples. Every time you go shopping you are interacting
with an information system that manages inventory and sales. Even
driving to school or work results in an interaction with the
transportation information system, impacting traffic lights,
cameras, etc. V.

Due Week 4, worth 150 points
Leaders address issues and propose solutions. As a leader, you’ll need to stay
on top of events that may facilitate or hinder productivity. You must create and
implement solutions to address these issues.
This assignment exposes you to complex modern organizational challenges.
The solutions you devise should reflect your learning and research of organiza-
tional and individual influences in the workplace.
PREPARATION

Select an organization in which current events have adversely affected
productivity, requiring management to resolve an issue related to:
corporate culture, managing diversity, leading teamwork, and
developing motivational strategies. The organization should be one
with which you are familiar — where you work now or have worked
previously (business, nonprofit, government, or military). You may also
consider other organizations in the news, such as Macy’s for the retail
industry, United for the airline industry, Wells Fargo for the banking
industry, etc. The focus is on finding solutions, but you should be
somewhat familiar with the organization or industry.
2. Plan your research
Use research from the course textbook, company website, business
websites (CNBC, Bloomberg, etc.), resources from the Strayer Library,
or outside resources to develop solutions to the following questions as
they relate to corporate culture, managing diversity, leading teamwork,
and developing motivational strategies to achieve the organization's
goals and objectives. Your recommendations must be fully articulated
and supported with appropriate detail and sources. Note: Wikipedia

Select one of these three philosophers (Rousseau, Locke, Hobbes) and write a 1 page paper in which you analyze the significant ways in which their ideas differ from those at work in modern democracies. What could we gain from following their ideas more closely, and what might be dangerous if we did so?
assignment 2
In the workplace, we may hear a statement, joke, or remark that is unkind or inappropriate. Often the speaker might appear to do so in a way that is not intended to offend, but comes from other experiences or lack of awareness as to how they may be received.
It is up to you as a manager to set the tone for how these comments are countered in order to create an inclusive environment.
Choose

(Reference to someone of a different race)
"She just slows us down." (Reference to a disabled worker)
"Why doesn't he retire already!" (Reference to an older employer)
In a 2 page paper, suggest some ways in which you would professionally respond if you heard the comment by your subordinate in the employee lounge. Include how you might approach the employee (immediately, privately etc.). Provide specific comments that you might use in your discussion and consider how the individual might defend their actions. What further conversation might this lead to?
Explain the ethical and legal (if any) implications if statements such as the one you chose would continue. What might be lost in your workplace if the statements are allowed?
Include at least one resource you could use to help your conversation. Identify whether there is a legal guideline to share with your employee.

ASSIGNMENT 1:
Hearing Versus Listening
Describe how you learned how to listen! Please use between 300-500 words to make a complete description of this learned behavior. Did you learn to listen properly? Do you still listen the same way that you were taught as a child? Why or why not?
“Doctor Aunt”
by Eden, Janine and Jim.

.
A mother takes her four-year-old to the pediatrician reporting she’s worried about the girl’s hearing. The doctor runs through a battery of tests, checks in the girl’s ears to be sure everything looks good, and makes notes in the child’s folder. Then, she takes the mother by the arm. They move together to the far end of the room, behind the girl. The doctor whispers in a low voice to the concerned parent: “Everything looks fine. But, she’s been through a lot of tests today. You might want to take her for ice cream after this as a reward.” The daughter jerks her head around, a huge grin on her face, “Oh, please, Mommy! I love ice cream!” The doctor, speaking now at a regular volume, reports, “As I said, I don’t think there’s any problem with her hearing, but she may not always be choosing to listen.”
Hearing
is something most everyone does without even trying. It is a physiological response to sound waves moving through the air at up to 760 miles per hour. First, we receive the sound in our ears. The wave of sound causes our eardrums to vibrate, which engages our brain to begin processing. The sound is then transformed into nerve impulses so that we can perceive the sound in our brains. Our auditory cortex recognizes a sound has been heard and begins to process the sound by matching it to previously encountered sounds in a process known as
auditory association
.
[1]
Hearing has kept our species alive for centuries. When you are asleep but wake in a panic having heard a noise downstairs, an age-old self-preservation response is kicking in. You were asleep. You weren’t listening for the noise—unless perhaps you are a parent of a teenager out past curfew—but you hear it. Hearing is unintentional, whereas
listening
(by contrast) requires you to pay conscious attention. Our bodies hear, but we need to employ intentional effort to actually listen.
“Hearing Mechanics”
by Zina Deretsky. Public domain.
We regularly engage in several different types of listening. When we are tuning our attention to a song we like, or a poetry reading, or actors in a play, or sitcom antics on television, we are listening for pleasure, also known as
appreciative listening
. When we are listening to a friend or family member, building our relationship with another through offering support and showing empathy for her feelings in the situation she is discussing, we are engaged in
relational listening
. Therapists, counselors, and conflict mediators are trained in another level known as
empathetic or therapeutic listening
. When we are at a political event, attending a debate, or enduring a salesperson touting the benefits of vario.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

TESDA TM1 REVIEWER FOR NATIONAL ASSESSMENT WRITTEN AND ORAL QUESTIONS WITH A...
SUGGESTIONSTV advertising has emerged as the most innovative and.docx
1. SUGGESTIONS
TV advertising has emerged as the most innovative and an
effective means of communicating with the customers. It has
grown increasingly sophisticated, elaborative and highly
personal in nature. Advertisers can fine tune a particular
message, intrude the human minds and generate a desired
response.
In recent years, children’s market has become very important to
manufacturers and marketers. They are the main focus in any
form of advertising and their role in advertising is increasing
day by day. Exorbitant amount of money and efforts are being
spent on advertising to reach this segment.
There are many aspects that make children an important
segment. They are indulging in independent shopping at a much
younger age than the earlier generations, and have an increasing
influence on their families’ purchase (though their contribution
varies by product category). Children as young as three years
old develop an ability to recognize advertising and by the age of
7 or 8 years, they are capable of understanding exactly what
advertisers are trying to achieve and by ten, children become
adept critics and prove to be a tough audience to please
(Rossiter and Robertson, 1976).
Marketers use all possible tactics to muster the attention of the
children which may include illegal, dirty or underhand tricks,
promoting untrue claims and reliance on false information.
There has been a growing concern about the effect of TV
advertising on the juvenile minds of the children. Parents are
really concerned as they believe that children are like a sponge
that absorbs things easily, hence they are concerned with the
immediate and the long term impact the TV advertising would
have on the overall development of their children. Parents are of
the opinion that TV advertising makes children materialistic,
aggressive, eccentric, rude, violent and sometimes intolerant
about the world around them.
2. The above-mentioned concerns regarding TV advertising to
children has made it imperative for the parents to think
seriously and undertake certain concrete measures to try and
limit influence of TV advertising on children. Some parents are
of the opinion that it is the responsibility of the government to
enforce strict regulations and control over TV advertising. On
the other hand, some researchers consider that it is the
responsibility of the parents to mediate and safeguard the
interests of their children (Nathanson et al., 2002).
A great amount of research on advertising over the past few
decades has focused on the construct, ‘Attitude towards
advertising,’ which was first introduced by (Bauer and Geyser,
1968). Subsequently the researchers have tried to focus on
different dimensions of attitude by targeting specific
populations. However, attitude of parents towards TV
advertising directed at children has not fancied many
investigators, particularly in India. Whatever research is
available has been conducted in developed countries.
There are some findings that which could be of interest to
marketers, parents and schools. The most important thing is that
they cannot treat children from both the domicile as one mass
for targeting messages at them. They are different in respect to
their culture and family environment. The study has certain
implications which are mentioned hereby;
Implications from parent’s point of view
1. Parents should restrict their children viewing time for
television up to 1-2 hour per day. Efforts should be made by the
parents to encourage their children to take part in educational
and sports activities, so that their growing dependence on TV
can be reduced resulting in their reduced exposure to television
advertisements.
2. The exposure of media and advertising is making children
feel immense social pressure on them as they feel in order to
become successful they should possess material things and
satisfaction lies in these materialistic things. They feel that to
become successful one should look good and rich in life. This
3. may become the reason for stress in their life. Parents have to
play an important role in guiding the children in adoption of
traditional and western values as displayed by media and
advertisement. Parents should counsel their children to make
differentiation between reality and imagination.
3. Although much parents in both domicile felt that media and
advertising content are negative, still media have some positive
aspects which need to be explored by the parents to their
children. This will help the children to use media and
advertising content in positive way.
4. Parents should not allow child to have a television in his or
her bedroom separately. Television should be at main location
where all family members may watch it jointly.
5. Parents should put efforts to inculcate saving habits among
children. As, saving is also considered as way of balancing one
‘s life. They should guide their children that savings too
satisfies many important needs. This habit will help them in
developing planned spending, probably for expensive personal
items in future and in latter part of life will enhance their
dignity and feeling of security and contentment.
6. The amount of parental pestering that occur can be reduced
if children are more usually involved in family purchase
decisions and if parents discuss television and advertising with
them.
Implications from school point of view
7. The schools should introduce some lectures in the curriculum
of the students which can prepare them with such skills through
which they may be able to approach the media especially
advertising critically.
8. The schools should conduct some kind of workshop in which
children should be taught about the bad effects of junk and fast
food ads. They should educate the children about obesity and
overweight problems. Educational programme that promoted
nutritional food consumption will reduce the impact of
advertising for sugared foods.
9. School authorities should conduct some kind of educational
4. programs to improve children ‘s advertising literacy, so that
they can understand the temporal course of the persuasive
process and the relative effectiveness and appropriateness of
particular advertising tactics. This persuasive knowledge
becomes increasingly valuable to a growing number of everyday
tasks and goals,
such as making increasingly significant and numerous buying
decisions, establishing and maintaining an independent identity,
managing more complex social relationship, and facing more
diverse and subtle persuasive tactics than in childhood and early
adolescence.
10. Schools can adopt policies to refuse to accept sponsorships
from companies and to disallow food beverage marketing on
campuses. They can mandate and implement adequate physical
education and nutrition education programs.
Implementation from marketer’s point of view
11. As, marketers are always interested in targeting children
directly (rather than through their parents) with child oriented
messages, logos, characters etc., that emphasis on cool, fun
image. Perhaps this strategy is not appropriate for all children.
Our result suggest that children has less personal spending
power and more rely on their parents saying about the product
advertised and are less influenced by irrational factors. This
cool and hip ‘band image appeal might not be effective with
certain segments of the children ‘s market, especially those who
are less independent in their marketplace behaviors. Marketers
might develop strategies that attempt to bridge the gap between
children and parents, such as creating products, programming
and activities that involve both children and adults. They should
try to organize their events, such as grand openings, benefits,
and rides, so as to create a family- oriented atmosphere with
activities for all ages that instill positive brand- oriented
experiences in children.
5. 12. Marketers and advertisers have a dual responsibility in this
new world of children marketing. They should place the product
in appropriate contexts for use as meal components,
encouraging play and developmental skills and entertainment
that is age and theme appropriate. Children marketers and
advertisers should raise their hands and contribute their talent
in prosocial programmes and advertising. The future for
children and children marketers will be about products, pitches
and promotion that balance fun with focus on positive, healthy
lifestyle choices for kids as they grow to be citizens of
tomorrow.
13. The findings also indicate that children increased likeability
with regard to advertisement of particular product category
increases children ‘s level of influence on family purchase
decisions. This presents a great opportunity to marketers to
increased children influence with regard to those product
categories that are not intuitively relevant to children (like
appliances, furniture or automobiles) by encouraging the
purchase and discussion of these products by making conscious
efforts to make them more ―children-friendly‖, so that it
appeals to children and parents both
14. The current study provides insights for marketers and
advertisers to select the appropriate media to reach urban as
well as rural Indian Children. As, the study suggest that
broadcast media exposure was more among urban children, as
compared to rural children. So, domicile or location is a major
variable that should be used by marketers of children products
to segment the market. This research suggest that rural children
might be more effectively targeting using strategies that
stimulate word – of - mouth, print media and other social
interactions. Urban children on the other hand might be more
effectively targeted using non-personal sources, especially
screen media and broadcast media
15. Marketers should understand the corporate social
responsibility and their communication targeted children should
always involve ethical and moral aspects with the purpose of
6. protecting children. They should resort to self- regulation. Since
young children have a limited capability for evaluating the
credibility of what they watch, a special responsibility lies upon
marketers to protect them from susceptibilities.
16. Marketers could encourage deeper family discussions about
food- related health issues and provide the families with
concrete issues to talk about (e.g. health and cooking time
among parents, and health and popularity among children). This
might make parents and children understand each other ‘s
motives and barriers for food preferences and choices better,
thereby, solve many conflicts.
17. To reduce the switching behavior among children when ads
are broadcasted on the TV channels, it is important for
advertisers to decide which programs is most preferred by the
children in this age group and show ads during that programs.
Also, it is recommended that TV channels should shorten long
ads breaks between programs by dividing them up and making
short breaks within programs. Moreover, the simultaneous
presentation of ads and TV programs by splitting the screen to
include both ads and programs will also help in reducing
zapping. Some recent studies in USA has shown that repeated
brief images of the brand have significant influence on reducing
TV ads avoidance than showing the brand for long periods at
the beginning or end of the advertisement.
18. Advertisers should play due consideration to enjoyment
aspects of TV ads, as reported by children in the study. They
should use all possible means to make TV ads more attractive,
interesting and enjoyable. This can be done by developing more
than one ads design, pre-testing them before broadcasting and
selecting the more enjoyable. The same as should not be
repeated to excess, to avoid boredom. Advertisers should also
change ads more often, to reduce consumer boredom and should
produce more creative advertising which breaks free from the
advertising clutter.
19. To typically deal with more nutrient motivated criticisms
that in the study parents have raised, marketers might consider
7. following steps;
· Increasing media expenditure to parental audiences, to present
messages which address their nutritional concerns and
emphasizes nutrition information on products and brands.
· Employing nutrition and health themes in promotional appeals
especially rational appeals in contest and premium offers.
Games might be devised that could teach children about basic
nutritional concepts. This will help to develop the interest of
children in the product and win the confidence of parents.
20. Direct appeals to children to be more nutrition conscious
and responsible consumers. Instead of describing the products
as ‘chocolatey, rich and sweet ‘, they can change the version of
appeals and it can be said to be ‘healthful‘vitaminy and
nutritional‘. These versions will be acceptable to parents too.
SCOPE FOR FURTHER RESEARCH
· The scope of the study has been limited to the city of
Visakhapatnam. Elaborative study can be carried out by
including more cities in the sample. Inter-state study can
provide a better picture of the attitude that the Indian parents
have regarding TV advertising directed at children.
· The present study has only taken into consideration the urban
and the economically stronger strata of the society. Future
exhaustive studies can be carried out by including rural and
other segments of the society. A comparative research can be
done across different segments.
· The study used survey method for data collection to
investigate the children influence patterns in family decision
making. However, in future the researchers can use observation
approach to measure the amount of influence displayed by all
members of the family in the purchase decisions. Observational
data can be derived from videotaped recordings of family
interactions during a simulated decision-making situation. This
method of data collection techniques can provide better insight
into decision-making process in the family and give results
which may be contradictory to survey methods used normally in
the family decision making researches.
8. · Parental perspective has been taken in this study whereas, if
self-regulatory mechanism has to be adopted then the viewpoint
of the advertisers and marketers needs to be considered for
further research.
