Connecting the dots
          “it was impossible to
             connect the dots
             looking forward
             when I was in
             college.

           But it was very, very
           clear looking
           backwards ten years
           later.”
“Part of what made the Macintosh great
was that the people working on it were
musicians, and poets, and artists, and
  zoologists, and historians who also
happened to be the best computer
scientists in the world.” Steve Jobs

Making connections

Make more of your own
         connections
How are you going to make more
             connections?

How are you going to gain insight about
 your donors, prospects and volunteers?

How are you going to make this a habit?
"It's not enough to be busy. Ants are busy. What
are we busy about?" Ralph Waldo Emerson

Editor's Notes

  • #27 I know what you are thinking – im busy enough as it is – need time. True making time is a big challenge Take you back to the beginning – if you don’t do anything different how are you going to put new connections together to make better ideas? We all have the same amount of time in a day: 24 hours or 1,440 minutes. (write on flip chart) You have exactly the same amount of time that was given to Thomas Edison, Helen Keller, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa and Albert Einstein. It’s how you maximise the difference you make that’s the real challenge.Funnel of focus
  • #45 Try and get out of your own mindset into someone elses – job as a fundraiser to connect your donors to the cause
