History
About St. Patrick's Day

• St. Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious holiday that takes
place each year on 17 March. It commemorates Saint Patrick,
  the patron saint of Ireland.
• It’s also celebrated in Great Britain, Canada, the United
States, Australia and New Zealand among others.
• This festivity lasts for 5 days.
• The shamrock: Three is Ireland's magic
number and the three petals that
make up the shamrock are supposed
to bring good luck. The three leaves
also represent the Trinity in the
  Christian religion.

• The leprechauns: men who live
alone in the forest, spending all of
  their time making shoes and
  guarding their treasures.
St. Patrick's Day Celebration
• Most people, whether they are Irish or not, wear green on
this day. One of the Irish traditions is to pinch anyone who is
not wearing green on St. Patrick's Day.
Why green?
• Green is one of the colors in Ireland’s tri-color
  flag.
• The color of the landscape.
• Green is also the color of spring and the
  shamrock.
• During these days, there are also organised events,
  fun fairs, concerts…
