So, it is the gender, the politics, the ecofeminism, the celebrity, the embodiment and the sex that makes Green Porno such an engaging and entertaining series to watch. It is the reason the series has been so successful. If any of those elements were missing or out of balance, the massage that Rossellini is trying to convey would be heard by a much smaller audience, who is much less engaged with her work.

Exponential Organizations - Why new organizations are 10x better, faster and ...Yuri van Geest
Exponential Organizations (ExOs, #ExponentialOrgs) - authored by Yuri van Geest, Salim Ismail, Peter Diamandis and Mike Malone and published by Singularity University Press - how to build exponential organizations with exponential technologies and new organizational techniques for an exponential era.
This is first book integrating all key organizational and technology trends into a new and holistic 11 attribute framework applicable for startups, mid markets and corporates. To create exponential organizations instead of classic, linear ones which were developed more than 100 years ago.
We already received the Best Business Book of the Year 2014 Award by Frost & Sullivan and are accepted in the prestigeous C-Suite Book Club.
The book has been thoroughly researched in the last 30 months and we looked for patterns in the most important exponentials companies in the world in the last 6 years like Waze, Tesla, Airbnb, Uber, Xiaomi, Netflix, Valve, Google (Ventures), GitHub, Quirky and 60 other companies including successful corporates like GE, Haier, Coca Cola, Amazon, Citibank and ING Bank. We interviewed 70 global leaders and thinkers like Marc Andreessen, Arianna Huffington, Steve Forbes, Philip Rosedale, Tim O'Reilly, Chris Anderson and many others.
The book is already an Amazon bestseller in the pre-order phase since June, 2014 in the categories Startups, Business Management and Innovation.

One-Page Abundance Plan: How to Transform the Lives of 1 Billion Customers in...Rod King, Ph.D.
On October 10, 2012, I gave a Small Business University (SBU) workshop in Clovis, California on the “One-Page Abundance Plan.” The running theme of my presentation was “Think Big and Different.” Using the vision of the Abundance framework, which is espoused by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler in their 2012 book “Abundance,” I presented the One-Page Abundance Plan as a visual tool for systematically translating visions of Abundance into reality.
According to Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler, we would soon realize a world of abundance due to the impact of exponential technologies that are consistent with Ray Kurzweil’s Law of Accelerating Returns. Kurzweil’s Law of Accelerating Return (which is more robust than Moore’s Law for the evolution of technology) and its expected impacts remind me of Arthur Clarke’s Third Law which states that “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Expect apparently impossible or magical things in the Age of Abundance.
Based on Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler’s book, “Abundance”, the workshop presentation introduces an Abundance Startup as “a lean startup that discovers and solves a Big Urgent Market Problem (BUMP) such as how to transform the lives of 1 billion customers in 10 years.” Apple’s disruptive innovation project on the classic iPod is presented as an example of an Abundance Startup.
Abundance Startups will help make the world a better place much faster. Abundance Startups focus on overcoming the greatest challenges that humanity faces such as the long-term goal of providing a world of 9 billion people with Clean Water, Nutritious Food, Affordable Housing, Personalized Education, Top-tier Medical Care, and Non-polluting, Ubiquitous Energy. The One-Page Abundance Plan will help entrepreneurs, startups, and established organizations to rapidly model, test, and validate ideas for achieving the goals, visions, and missions of Abundance Startup projects.

Looking back, the 20th century saw more innovation then history of mankind before that. This was the century of electronics, computers, software and the Internet. Now when we are at the beginning of the 21st century what will we see in the coming decades? There is strong evidence that technology is still very primitive and that we will see more progress in the 21st century than all progress of mankind combined.
In this lecture we look into the future and look at the trends that are will shape the world in the near future. We will look at technology that dies and jobs that are changing.

Microsoft's Future Vision - Live, Work, Play
Every year, trees in temperate and boreal forests go through a cycle of dormancy and activity that produces a new layer of tracheids, fibers and other woody cells around their stem. The end result of this process - a tree ring - is one of the most obvious signs in nature documenting the passage of time and the character of that year’s weather. Measurements of tree-ring widths are the most widely-distributed and best replicated source of surrogate environmental information on the planet and are one of the main archives used to estimate changes in regional and global climate during the past several centuries or millennia.
In this lecture, I describe the structure and characteristics of the Northern Hemisphere tree-ring width network, and outline how these data are linked with key aspects of local climate and the global climate system. More generally, by describing the characteristics of the Northern Hemisphere tree-ring width network and the diversity of its relations with varying aspects of the global climate system, this presentation highlights the breadth and quality of environmental information that may be recovered from the width of annual growth layers in temperate and boreal trees.
In the next 10 years technology will change the global landscape more than in the last 100 years. Robotics, AI, Self Driving Cars, 3D Printing, Medical and Energy Tech will disrupt and transform many industries. Financial Services will be reshaped to serve everyone via mobile and bitcoin.

Like every year, BETC Digital travelled to Austin to bring you fresh inspiration and new ideas from SXSW, the famous digital festival.
Where is digital heading in the following years? We attended conferences by people such as Eric Schmidt, Julian Assange or Edward Snowden to gather their views of the topic.
The groundswell of peer-to-peer exchanges across mobile and social platforms empowers people everywhere and anywhere to produce and share with as much authority as they are able to consume and buy. This presentation was developed to explain our SxSW panel entitled: Digital Anarchy: the "bitcoin" effect.
Bitcoin is not only giving banks a run for their money, it threatens to disrupt the centralized power of all sorts of business, political and social infrastructures. Most importantly, bitcoin enables a true "peer economy." This interactive panel discussion will explain how bitcoin is fast becoming a catalyst for change and how the blockchain has the power to uproot a number of our most recognizable dot coms. “The peer economy is inevitable, because humans cannot survive unless we significantly increase what we share as equals.”

Michael P Totten GreenATP: APPortunities to catalyze local to global positive...Michael P Totten
Humanity’s unceasing ingenuity is generating vast economic gain for billions of people with goods unavailable to even kings and queens throughout most of history. Unfortunately, this economic growth has triggered unprecedented se- curity challenges of global and historical magnitude: more absolute poor than any time in human history, the sixth largest extinction spasm of life on earth, climate destabilization with mega-catastrophic consequences, and multi-trillion dollar wars over access to energy. These multiple, inextricably interwoven chal- lenges have low probability of being solved if decision makers maintain the strong propensity to think and act as if life is linear, has no carrying capacity limits, uncertainty is controllable, the future free of surprises, planning is predictable and compartmentalized into silos, and Gaussian distributions are taken as the norm while fat-tail futures are ignored. Although the future holds irreducible uncertainties, it is not fated. The emergence of Internet availability to one-third of humanity and access by most of humanity within a decade has spawned the Web analogue of a ‘Cambrian explosion’ of speciation in knowledge applica- tions. Among the most prodigious have been collaboration innovation networks (COINs) reflecting a diversity of ‘genome’ types, facilitating a myriad of collective intelligence crowd-swarming phenomena (Malone T, Laubacher R, Dellarocas C. The Collective Intelligence Genome. MIT Sloan Management Review, Spring; 2010, Vol. 51). COINs are essential tools for accelerating and scaling transformational solutions (positive tipping points) to the wicked problems confronting humanity. Web COINs enable acceleration of multiple-benefit innovations and solutions to these problems that permeate the nested clusters of linked nonlinear complex adaptive systems comprising the global biosphere and socioeconomy.

The widely-held belief that for-profit investments can only maximize financial returns and social purpose can only be pursued through charity—is obsolete. For the next generation, value has to be created and shared across both sectors and by everyone. Creating shared value however, can not happen through silos of social responsibility or philanthropy, it has to be a values-based investment which is why crowdfunding, pay-for-success, venture philanthropy, impact investing and other social finance vehicles are becoming so powerful.
Digital Anarchy: The Bitcoin Effect examines the potential to democratize financial exchanges by providing digital access to capital. Though one-third of humanity remains unbanked, remarkably more than one billion of these people has access to a mobile phone and thus could use bitcoin (or a derivative thereof) to participate financially. Considering the framework of “humanitarian” capitalism, the fact that bitcoin does not require a central authority to qualify or limit the participation of another human being is an important differentiator to fiat and bank-controlled instruments. This presentation argues that the innovation of bitcoin and the blockchain not only has the capacity to build registries of multi-entity contracting, it also offers the potential to create self-enforcing “smart contracts” between free individuals. Ultimately, the transparency of the blockchain has the potential to end corruption and empower a free society.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

2. IT’S A BLIZZARD OF BAD NEWS OUT THERE:
an ongoing economic crisis, a burgeoning education crisis, healthcare
turmoil, energy poverty, water scarcity—to name but a few of our fears.
So pervasive is our sense of doom and gloom, that those telling a
different story can rarely be heard.
AND THERE’S A VERY DIFFERENT STORY
WORTH HEARING.

NANOTECHNOLOGY, SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY, AND MANY
OTHER REVOLUTIONARY FIELDS WILL ENABLE US TO
MAKE GREATER GAINS IN THE NEXT TWO
DECADES THAN WE’VE MADE IN THE PREVIOUS
TWO HUNDRED YEARS.
4. We will soon have the ability to meet and exceed the basic needs of every man, woman, and child on the planet.
ABUNDANCE FOR ALL IS ACTUALLY WITHIN OUR GRASP.
5. EXPONENTIAL
TECHNOLOGIES
FOUR EMERGING FORCES
ARE CONSPIRING TO SOLVE
OUR BIGGEST PROBLEMS:
THE DIY
INNOVATOR
THE
TECHNOPHILANTHROPIST THE RISING BILLION
6. We will soon have the ability to meet and exceed the basic needs of every man, woman, and child on the planet.
ABUNDANCE FOR ALL IS ACTUALLY WITHIN OUR GRASP.
7. The true promise of abundance was one of creating
A WORLD OF POSSIBILITY:
A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE’S DAYS ARE SPENT
DREAMING AND DOING, NOT SCRAPPING AND SCRAPING.
9. • EXPONENTIAL TECHNOLOGIES •
RIGHT NOW, ALL INFORMATION-BASED
TECHNOLOGIES ARE ON EXPONENTIAL GROWTH CURVES—
MEANING THEY’RE DOUBLING IN POWER AND HALVING
IN PRICE EVERY 12 TO 24 MONTHS.
THIS IS WHY AN $8 MILLION DOLLAR COMPUTER FROM TWO
DECADES AGO NOW SITS IN YOUR POCKET AND COSTS LESS
THAN $200.
This same rate of change is also showing up in networks, sensors, cloud
computing, 3D printing, genetics, AI, robotics, and dozens of other industries.
10. BECAUSE OF THIS, AFRICA HAS SKIPPED
A TECHNOLOGICAL GENERATION,
by-passing the landlines that stripe our Western skies for the wireless
way. Mobile phone penetration is growing exponentially,
FROM 2 PERCENT IN 2000, TO 28 PERCENT
IN 2009, TO 70 PERCENT IN 2013.
11. ALREADY FOLKS WITH NO EDUCATION AND LITTLE TO
EAT HAVE GAINED ACCESS TO CELLULAR CONNECTIVITY
UNHEARD OF JUST TWO DECADES AGO.
Soon, the vast majority of humanity will be enmeshed in this same World Wide Web
of instantaneous, low-cost communications and information. In other words, we are
now living in a world of information and communication abundance.
13. • THE DIY INNOVATOR •
DIY INNOVATORS ARE INDIVIDUALS AND SMALL GROUPS
EMPOWERED BY EXPONENTIAL TECHNOLOGIES
AND DRIVEN BY THE DESIRE TO TAKE ON HUMANITY'S
GRAND CHALLENGES.
14. A DIY REVOLUTION HAS BEEN STEADILY
BREWING THESE PAST 50 YEARS, BUT
LATELY HAS BEGUN TO BOIL OVER.
Today, backyard tinkerers has moved from custom cars and
homebrew computers into once esoteric fields like neuroscience,
biology, genetics and robotics.
THESE GROUPS NOW HAVE THE ABILITY TO TACKLE PROBLEMS THAT
WERE ONCE THE SOLE DOMAIN OF GOVERNMENTS AND MAJOR
CORPORATIONS AND NGOS.
15. THE AEROSPACE GIANTS FELT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE,
BUT BURT RUTAN FLEW INTO SPACE.
CRAIG VENTER BEAT THE MIGHTY US GOVERNMENT IN
THE RACE TO SEQUENCE THE HUMAN GENOME.
RIGHT NOW, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE
USING THE TOOLS OF SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY TO COMPLETE
REAL WORLD PROJECTS THAT RIVAL THE OUTPUT OF MAJOR
BIOPHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES.
17. • THE TECHNOPHILANTHROPIST •
TODAY THERE ARE MORE THAN 1,400 BILLIONAIRES AND 93,000
"ULTRA-HIGH-NET-WORTH" INDIVIDUALS.
MANY OF THESE ARE YOUNG, ENTREPRENEURS WHO HAVE MADE
THEIR MONEY IN TECHNOLOGY AND ARE INTERESTED IN USING THAT
WEALTH TO SLAY SOME OF THE WORLD'S GRAND CHALLENGES.
WE CALL THESE INDIVIDUALS
TECHNOPHILANTHROPISTS.
18. WHILE THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION FOCUSED PHILANTHROPY
LOCALLY, THE HIGH-TECH REVOLUTION INVERTED THE EQUATION.
IN THE PAST, THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN AFRICA OR CHINA,
YOU DIDN’T REALLY KNOW ABOUT. TODAY YOU KNOW
ABOUT THEM INSTANTLY.
19. OUR PROBLEMS ARE MUCH
MORE INTERRELATED AS WELL.
EVERYTHING FROM CLIMATE CHANGE TO
PANDEMICS HAVE ROOTS IN DIFFERENT PARTS
OF THE WORLD, BUT THEY AFFECT EVERYBODY.
IN THIS WAY, GLOBAL HAS
BECOME THE NEW LOCAL.
20. “AS SOME OF THE SMARTEST PEOPLE LOOK AT WHERE TO
FOCUS THEIR ENERGIES NEXT,”
says PayPal cofounder Elon Musk,
“THEY ARE NOW ATTRACTED TO THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS
FACING HUMANITY, PARTICULARLY IN AREAS SUCH AS
EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE, AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY.”
22. • THE RISING BILLION •
THESE ARE THE POOREST PEOPLE ON EARTH,
THE SO-CALLED "BOTTOM BILLION."
WE HAVE RENAMED THIS GROUP THE "RISING BILLION" BECAUSE,
THANKS TO THE EXPONENTIAL SPREAD OF COMMUNICATION AND
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (LIKE THE SMART PHONE),
THESE PEOPLE ARE COMING ON
LINE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.
23. THEIR VOICES, WHICH HAVE NEVER
BEFORE BEEN HEARD, ARE SUDDENLY
JOINING THE GLOBAL CONVERSATION.
Aided by these technologies, the Rising Billion are beginning to
PULL THEMSELVES OUT OF POVERTY.
24. FOR THE FIRST TIME, NOT ONLY ARE THEIR VOICES BEING HEARD,
THEIR IDEAS— IDEAS THAT WE’VE NEVER HAD ACCESS TO BEFORE—
ARE JOINING THE GLOBAL CONVERSATION.
What will these people desire? What will they create? If for no other reason than
the law of large numbers and the power of their potential, this puts the Rising
Billion in the same category as exponential technology, the DIY’ers and the
Technophilanthropists: as a potent force for abundance.
25. ACTING ALONE, EACH OF THESE THREE FORCES
H A V E E N O R M O U S P O T E N T I A L .
BUT ACTING TOGETHER, AMPLIFIED BY EXPONENTIALLY
GROWING TECHNOLOGIES, THE ONCE UNIMAGINABLE
BECOMES THE NOW ACTUALLY POSSIBLE.
Where there is vision, the people flourish. The impossible becomes the
possible. And abundance for all becomes imagine what’s next.
