This study examined the connection between family support and the level of preoperative anxiety in patients at the RSUD Dr. Hi. Abdul Moeloek Provinsi Lampung hospital. The study analyzed 30 patients who underwent surgery, with 60% undergoing cyto surgery and 40% undergoing elective surgery. The study found that family support was significantly correlated with preoperative anxiety levels in terms of assessment support and informational support. However, family support did not show a significant correlation with preoperative anxiety levels overall. The study concluded it is important for hospitals to provide families with information on how to support patients undergoing surgery through counseling.

This thesis explores how changes in the role of mental health nurses has impacted their professional identity and implications for recruitment and retention. It used qualitative interviews with experienced and student nurses to understand their perspectives on being a mental health nurse. The study found that developing more generic mental health clinician roles has caused role ambiguity and role conflict for nurses. This has negatively impacted professional identity and likely contributes to declining numbers of nurses entering and staying in mental health careers. The thesis makes recommendations around education and support to help strengthen professional identity and improve recruitment and retention of mental health nurses.

This study examined the connection between family support and the level of preoperative anxiety in patients at the RSUD Dr. Hi. Abdul Moeloek Provinsi Lampung hospital. The study analyzed 30 patients who underwent surgery, either elective or emergency procedures. Family support was measured based on assessments of support, instrumental support, informational support, and emotional support. The results found that family support showed no significant correlation with preoperative anxiety levels. However, assessments of support were significantly correlated. The study concluded it would be beneficial for hospitals to provide families with information on how to best support patients undergoing surgery through counseling.

Palliative care in Indonesia is problematic because of cultural and socio-economic factors. Family in Indonesia is an integral part of caregiving process in inpatient and outpatient settings. However, most families are not adequately prepared to deliver basic care for their sick family member. This research is a pilot project aiming to evaluate how basic skills training (BST) given to family caregivers could enhance the quality of life (QoL) of palliative care cancer patients in Indonesia. The study is a prospective quantitative with pre and post-test design. Thirty family caregivers of cancer patients were trained in basic skills including showering, washing hair, assisting for fecal and urinary elimination and oral care, as well as feeding at bedside. Patients’ QoL were measured at baseline and 4 weeks after training using EORTC QLQ C30. Hypothesis testing was done using related samples Wilcoxon Signed Rank. A paired t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to check in which subgroups was the intervention more significant. The intervention showed a significant change in patients’ global health status/QoL, emotional and social functioning, pain, fatigue, dyspnea, insomnia, appetite loss, constipation and financial hardship of the patients. Male patient’s had a significant effect on global health status (qol) (p = 0.030); female patients had a significant effect on dyspnea (p = 0.050) and constipation (p = 0.038). Younger patients had a significant effect in global health status/ QoL (p = 0.002). Patients between 45 and 54 years old had significant effect on financial issue (p = 0.039). Caregivers between 45 and 54 years old had significant effect on patients’ dyspnea (p = 0.031). Thus, it is concluded that basic skills training for family caregivers provided some changes in some aspects of QoL of palliative cancer patients. The intervention showed promises in maintaining the QoL of cancer patients considering socioeconomic

The scope of the evidence synthesis is focused on the issue of patient falls with injuries and the challenges related to the prevention of falls within the acute cares settings. The author has identified this scope by drawing pieces of evidence from various authors. The evidence drawn from the previous studies indicates that the issue of patient falls is a major adverse event that interferes with the quality of healthcare services that are being provided to the patients within the acute care settings for example nursing homes and healthcare facilities. The study reveals that the detrimental effects caused by the issues of patients' falls are associated with serious bruises, trauma, fractures, and death of the patients when it is not prevented at the right time (Araujo, et al., 2017).

Background Many research studies conducted today in critical
care have a genomics component. Patients’ surrogates asked to
authorize participation in genomics research for a loved one
in the intensive care unit may not be prepared to make informed
decisions about a patient’s participation in the research.
Objectives To examine the effectiveness of a new, computer-
based education module on surrogates’ understanding of the
process of informed consent for genomics research.
Methods A pilot study was conducted with visitors in the
waiting rooms of 2 intensive care units in a Midwestern tertiary
care medical center. Visitors were randomly assigned to the
experimental (education module plus a sample genomics con-
sent form; n = 65) or the control (sample genomics consent
form only; n = 69) group. Participants later completed a test
on informed genomics consent.
Results Understanding the process of informed consent was
greater (P= .001) in the experimental group than in the control
group. Specifically, compared with the control group, the experi-
mental group had a greater understanding of 8 of 13 elements
of informed consent: intended benefits of research (P= .02),
definition of surrogate consenter (P= .001), withdrawal from the
study (P= .001), explanation of risk (P= .002), purpose of the
institutional review board (P= .001), definition of substituted
judgment (P= .03), compensation for harm (P= .001), and alter-
native treatments (P= .004).
Conclusions Computer-based education modules may be an
important addition to conventional approaches for obtaining
informed consent in the intensive care unit. Preparing patients’
family members who may consider serving as surrogate con-
senters is critical to facilitating genomics research in critical

Background: In the absence of clear differences in effectiveness and cost-effectiveness
between hospital-at-home schemes and usual hospital care, patient preference plays an
important role. This study investigates patient preference for treatment place, associated
factors and patient satisfaction with a community-based hospital-at-home scheme for
COPD exacerbations.
Methods: The study is part of a larger randomised controlled trial. Patients were
randomised to usual hospital care or early assisted discharge which incorporated
discharge at day 4 and visits by a home care nurse until day 7 of treatment (T + 4 days). The
hospital care group received care as usual and was discharged from hospital at day 7.
Patients were followed for 90 days (T + 90 days). Patient preference for treatment place
and patient satisfaction (overall and per item) were assessed quantitatively and
qualitatively using questionnaires at T + 4 days and T + 90 days. Factors associated with
patient preference were analysed in the early assisted discharge group.
Results: 139 patients were randomised. No difference was found in overall satisfaction. At
T + 4 days, patients in the early assisted discharge group were less satisfied with care at
night and were less able to resume normal daily activities. At T + 90 days there were no
differences for the separate items. Patient preference for home treatment at T + 4 days was
42% in the hospital care group and 86% in the early assisted discharge group and 35% and

Introduction
It is estimated that patient falls in hospitals occur among 700,000 to 1,000,000 people in the United States. As well, approximately one third is preventable (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality [AHRQ], 2013). Fall risk assessment tools, and alarm systems which alert staff when patients attempt to leave the bed or chair unassisted, are two methods among others utilized to reduce falls incidences. Evidence-based practice (EBP) in accordance with patient falls and the applicability to the author’s organization are the topics of this paper.
Patient Care Experience
Recently, an 83 year old male with dementia was hospitalized for pneumonia and under my care, on the night shift. As part of the routine admission process, all patients are evaluated for fall risk. In this patient’s case, a fall risk evaluation tool was one EBP method used to predict and prevent such an incident. High risk status was concluded due to mobility issues, dementia, and incontinence, in accordance with the Hendrich Fall Risk Assessment tool in the electronic health record. Research by Hendrich, Bender, and Nyhuis, in 2003, as cited by Schmidt (2012, April 5) found that intrinsic factors such as “confusion, altered elimination needs and impaired gait and mobility” among others were predictors of falls (para 6). A second intervention used was a bed alarm. Evidence based research for this method showed mixed results. Ward-Smith, Barret, Rayson and Govro (2014) concluded that use of a bed alarm system did not prevent falls, with one reason being the frequency of false alarms caused ignorance by staff, over time. The authors also stated further research in evaluating which patients would be appropriate for the alarm use would be beneficial. Shorr, Chandler, Mion, Waters, Liu, Daniels, Kessler and Miller, (2012), cited a cluster randomized trial which supported a reduction in falls with alarms in use. Still, in searching CINAHL, no studies in the past 5 years were found in support of bed alarms as a fall reduction method. I surmise the use of bed alarms in my facility came as a result of the elimination of the previous routine practice of waist and vest restraint application.
Background and PICOT Questions
Since support of the use of alarm systems was either mixed or nonexistent, and given the previously mentioned in-hospital high incidence of patient fall statistics, more effective measures for reduction must be researched. In formulating an EBP research question, background definitions must be delineated and general knowledge questions answered. Abdominal trauma in pediatrics refers to injuries or damage to the abdominal organs in children. It can occur due to various causes such as falls, motor vehicle accidents, sports-related injuries, and physical abuse. Children are more vulnerable to abdominal trauma due to their unique anatomical and physiological characteristics. Signs and symptoms include abdominal pain, tenderness, distension, vomiting, and signs of shock. Diagnosis involves physical examination, imaging studies, and laboratory tests. Management depends on the severity and may involve conservative treatment or surgical intervention. Prevention is crucial in reducing the incidence of abdominal trauma in children.

ABSTRACT THE CONNECTION OF FAMILY SUPPORT TO THE LEVEL OF PREOPERATIVE ANXIETY IN THE KUTILANG’S ROOM RSUD Dr.Hi.ABDUL MOELOEK PROVINSI LAMPUNG BY IKHWANUDIN *) Anxiety as a response without a specific object subjectively experienced and interpersonal communicated. On the client who will be in operation will generally experience a traumatic experience, such as separation and loss that would cause physical weakness and anxious response, it is necessary for the support of those closest to the clients that support from family. Family support is one of the factors that influence anxiety. Based on data obtained in 2014 at RSUD AM in Kutilang’s room there are 50 patients were operated on 30 patients where surgery cyto (60%) and 20 elective surgery (40%). The title of this research is The Connection Of Family Support To The Level Of Preoperative anxiety In The Kutilang’s Room RSUD Dr.Hi.Abdul Moeloek Provinsi Lampung. The research is a quantitative design correlation description/cross sectional. Total sample of 30 respondents with a total sampling technique. This research analyzed with chi square test. The independent variabel is the support of family, among others : support assessment (p = 0,000 and OR = 53,333) , instrumental support (p = 0,247 and OR = 3,214) , informasional support (p = 0,020 and OR = 10,083) , emotional support (p = 0,027 and OR = 8.000) It can be concluded that family support showed no significant correlation with the level of anxiety in patients with preoperative it is advisable to the hospital to provide information to families in providing support for the family members who
