Sensory integration is a neurological process that allows individuals to make sense of sensations from their body and environment. Sensory integration disorder occurs when this process is not functioning properly, making it difficult for individuals to respond appropriately. Sensory integration therapy aims to stimulate the senses through activities involving movement, touch, sound, and vision to help brains better process sensory information. Research suggests this therapy can help brains of children with sensory integration disorder change and develop through rich sensory experiences.
International classification of functioning, disability and healthHetvi Shukla
The document provides an overview of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). It describes the ICF as a WHO framework for classifying health and health-related domains to establish a common language for disability. The ICF classification includes components on body functions, structures, activities, participation, and environmental/personal factors. The document outlines the development, aims, applications and coding guidelines of the ICF to provide a standardized system for assessing functioning and disability.
This document discusses vocational rehabilitation, independent living, and consumerism for people with disabilities. It covers several topics:
Vocational rehabilitation programs help prepare and employ people with various disabilities. The government has set up 20 vocational rehabilitation centers with objectives like assessment, rehabilitation planning, and job placement assistance.
The vocational rehabilitation process involves evaluation, job skills training, job analysis, job placement and accommodations, and follow up.
Independent living centers are consumer-controlled and aim to maximize self-sufficiency through services like housing assistance, transportation, peer counseling and advocacy. They differ from vocational rehabilitation in focusing on independence rather than employment.
The document also outlines various livelihood opportunities, government schemes
Genu varum, also known as bow legs, is a physical deformity where the legs curve outward from the thighs. It can occur in children due to normal development or due to conditions like Blount's disease or rickets that affect bone growth. In children, genu varum is often monitored and may resolve on its own, while more severe cases or those caused by underlying diseases may require bracing or surgery to correct alignment and prevent long-term issues. Surgical options aim to stop abnormal bone growth or reshape the shinbone to straighten the legs.
This presentation contains detailed knowledge about Down's Syndrome its types, clinical presentation, diagnosis, medical and physio therapeutic management of the condition.
Down syndrome is a condition in which a person has an extra chromosome. Chromosomes are small “packages” of genes in the body. They determine how a baby’s body forms and functions as it grows during pregnancy and after birth. Typically, a baby is born with 46 chromosomes. Babies with Down syndrome have an extra copy of one of these chromosomes, chromosome 21. A medical term for having an extra copy of a chromosome is ‘trisomy.’ Down syndrome is also referred to as Trisomy 21. This extra copy changes how the baby’s body and brain develop, which can cause both mental and physical challenges for the baby.
This document summarizes the evolution of various neurophysiological approaches in physiotherapy. It describes approaches that were popular prior to the 1940s, which focused on orthopedic interventions and compensation. It then outlines several approaches developed from the 1940s onward that recognized the potential for functional recovery of affected body parts, including Bobath, Peto, Kabbat and Knott, Voss, and Rood approaches. The document proceeds to define neurophysiological approaches and their role in central nervous system plasticity. It provides examples of historical and contemporary approaches, such as muscle re-education, neurodevelopmental approaches, sensory integration, and task-oriented approaches.
The document describes the Motor Re-Learning Program (MRP), an approach to improving motor control after stroke. The MRP focuses on relearning daily activities through task-oriented practice and is based on theories of distributed motor control. The summary is:
1. The MRP involves analyzing tasks, practicing missing components, practicing whole tasks, and transferring learning to other contexts.
2. Intervention follows four steps - analyzing the task, practicing missing components, practicing the whole task, and transferring learning.
3. The program evaluates and improves functions like upper limb use, sitting, and walking through identifying normal movement and compensatory strategies.

Cervical disc prolapse occurs when a cervical disc herniates and compresses the nerve root. The cervical spine has 7 vertebrae and 6 intervertebral discs that act as shock absorbers and allow motion. A disc is composed of an inner nucleus pulposus surrounded by the outer annulus fibrosus. Common sites of prolapse are C5-C6 and C6-C7. Clinical features include neck pain radiating to the arm. Imaging like MRI or CT is used to confirm prolapse. Treatment involves rest, medications, traction and surgery like anterior cervical discectomy if non-operative measures fail.
This document discusses sensory integration techniques. It defines sensory integration as the process by which the brain organizes sensory input to produce useful responses. It describes the seven senses and the three main sensory systems - tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular. For each system, it provides examples of how it works and suggestions for activities to improve sensory integration. Implementing these techniques may help children improve attention, processing, flexibility, balance, motor skills and handwriting.
Orthopedic Surgeries and Physiotherapy in Cerebral PalsySreeraj S R
This document discusses orthopaedic surgeries and physiotherapy for cerebral palsy, focusing on spine/scoliosis, hips, knees, and lower legs. For scoliosis, conservative treatments include bracing and physical therapy while surgical treatment is posterior spinal fusion. For hips, soft tissue releases and osteotomies are used to treat subluxation/dislocation, while contractures may be treated with botulinum toxin or soft tissue lengthening. Knee flexion contractures are treated first with stretching and bracing but may require hamstring lengthening, capsulotomy, or femoral osteotomy. Post-operative rehabilitation focuses on range of motion, stretching, strengthening, and functional training.
Spina Bifida: Physiotherapy in the management of meningomyeloceleAyobami Ayodele
Spina bifida is a treatable spinal cord malformation that occurs in varying degrees of severity. Meningomyelocele is associated with abnormal development of the cranial neural tube, which results in several characteristic CNS anomalies. About 90% of babies born with Spina Bifida now live to be adults, about 80% have normal intelligence and about 75% play sports and do other fun activities. Most do well in school, and many play in sports.

The Affolter approach is an occupational therapy method developed to facilitate sensory-motor and cognitive development in individuals with neurological conditions or developmental challenges. It uses a sensory-enriched environment, self-initiated movements, and specific sensory handling techniques to promote sensory integration. Key assumptions of the Affolter approach include the brain's ability to adapt through neuroplasticity and the importance of a gradual progression of challenges to support sensory processing development.
This document summarizes current practices and evidence regarding the role of spinal orthosis (bracing) in managing adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). It discusses the spectrum of views around bracing and surgery, and notes that studies on bracing effectiveness have been inconsistent. The aim is to cautiously endorse conservative treatments like bracing, which growing evidence has found can help prevent curve progression in AIS when patients comply with brace-wearing of 18-23 hours daily. Key factors in treatment include the curve magnitude, pattern, and risk of progression during growth. Bracing may prevent surgery in suitable candidates who wear braces properly.
Sports injuries and Physiotherapy management.pptxkajal sansoya
Sport injuries refer to kind of injury that occur to a player during sports or exercise.
In other words, the situation which occurs accidently during physical activity or when the player does not remain in the position of participating in the game or his physical ability decreases is also referred to sports injuries.
Direct injury is caused by an external blow or force.
Indirect injury caused by an internal force as over stretching a ligament in sudden change direction.
Overuse injury any repetitive activity can lead to overuse injury, can occur over a period of time, usually due to excessive and repetitive leading of the tissue, with symptoms presenting gradually
Muscle pull
Tennis elbow/ golfer’s elbow
Rotator cuff injury
Frozen shoulder
Tendonitis
Bursitis
Runner’s knee
Achilles tendonitis
Foot arch sprain
Pulled hamstrings
Plantar fascitis
Iliotibial band syndrome
Carpel tunnel syndrome
Lower back pain A contusion is another way to say bruise and is the bleeding in the brain due to localized trauma.
A concussion refers to more widespread brain trauma from a blow to the head or swift shaking
Laceration is the tearing of skin with a sharp object or by impact injury from a blunt object or force that results in an irregular wounds.Warm up and cool down
Stretching before and after activity
Cross –train activity
Dress right
Use proper technique
Improve posture
Avoiding DOMS( delayed onset muscle soreness)
Early-stage rehabilitation is gentle exercise allowing for the damaged tissue to heal. This stage is often rushed and will result in poor quality healing and will be prone to re-injury.
Mid-stage rehabilitation involves progressively loading the muscles/tendons/bones or ligaments to develop tensile strength producing a healed tissue that will be able to withstand the stresses and strains of everyday life and exercise.
Late – the final stage (late) of rehabilitation is where the tissue adapts and is stressed using functional exercises and drills to ensure the body is ready to return to play.
Pilates is a system of repetitive exercises performed on a yoga mat or other equipment to promote strength, stability, and flexibility. Pilates exercises develop the body through muscular effort that stems from the core. A business may deal with both sales and purchases occasionally. They buy things from vendors and then sell them to their customers. Such dealings can be confusing at times. Because multiple clients may inquire about the same product at the same time, after purchasing those products, customers must be assigned to them. Odoo has a tool called Reception Report that can be used to complete this assignment. By enabling this, a reception report comes automatically after confirming a receipt, from which we can assign products to orders.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
