 More internally motivated and less so by

  • 3. 2 0 1 8 Adult learners search for suitable learning environments which permit them to adapt to the role of student while managing with the numerous demands from other work and life domains. Treston (2001)
  • 4. 2 0 1 8 Six assumptions of adult learners (Merriam, et al, 2007):  Self-directed learners and act independently.  Have gained valuable experiences in their lives and value applying their experiences to the learning process.  Eager and ready to learn what they need to learn to succeed.  Interested in the application of learning in- order to problem-solve.  More internally motivated and less so by outside forces.  Interested in understanding the value of what they are being taught.

Began the implementation in 2017. Professional courses are fully online. A one-month professional course. Provided to the organisation secondary school teachers and college lecturers. Online professional course was one of the category Educator Competencies courses. Context

  • 10. 2 0 1 8 201 learners Participants Secondary school teachers and college lecturers NO experience in participating in a fully online professional course. Given GUIDELINE (in a digital form) on how to access and use the platform functions such as replying forum.
