Feb 15. 2015- Soar on wings like eagles - (#1- point b and c)Catherine Lirio
b.) WE SHOW STRONG LOVE FOR GOD WHEN WE CHOOSE TO REMAIN IN HIM EVEN WHEN THERE ARE THINGS DRAWING US AWAY FROM HIM ESPECIALLY WHEN WE ARE DEEPLY HURTING AND DONT UNDERSTAND THINGS AND OUR SITUATION
c.) WE SHOW STRONG LOVE FOR GOD BY NOT HATING ANYBODY BUT LOVING EVERYBODY EVEN ENEMIES
We know the dictionary definition of worship (a feeling, or devotion to a deity), and we have read John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth"; but, what does the Bible teach us about the subject of worship? This is a series of lessons that gets to the heart of worship and what it really means for Christians.
Rooted and Grounded in Love - Ephesians 3:14-21David Turner
That God will empower us through his Spirit to comprehend His love so that we may be filled with His fullness.
Not that we love God more, but that we comprehend just how much God loves us.
What challenge did the nation of Israel encounter in Joshua 1:1? If you were Joshua how would you have felt? Why do you think God told him, “be strong and of good courage”? How does our definition of success influence or affect our lives? How would you define success? How does the world view success? How did the Lord use the word “success” in Joshua 1:6-9? Name 3 examples of those who are successful in the Bible and 3 who were not. What made the difference in their lives? Name the 3 commands God gave to Joshua in verses 6-9. Which command did he repeat? How many times? Why? Why does it take courage to obey the word of God? These and other questions are addressed in this study in Joshua 1.
An Introduction to Biblical Interpretation (Effective Bible Study)roberthatfield
While reading the Bible answers the question, "What does the Bible say?," interpreting the Bible answers the question, "What does the Bible mean by what it says?"

1. From 10 commandments - we are meant to be under God's rule
2. From 1 Corinthians - do not allow factions to dominate us
3. Focus on Christ

On a personal level, aren't we all in need of the LORD's help to one degree or another every day? As Paul reminds us in Acts, God "is not far from each one of us for in Him we live and move and exist." (Acts 17:27, 28) We need His help every moment of every day!

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
6. David’s response
• 2 Samuel 24:24 - However, the king said to
Araunah, NO, but I will surely buy it from you
for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to
the LORD my God which cost me nothing. So
David bought the threshing floor and the oxen
for fifty shekels of silver.
• If David would have accepted the gift free what
would be the sacrifice?
7. Why do we value things?
1. Because of the cost.
2. Because the sacrifice in preserving it and passing it
down.
3. Because who made it.
4. Because who gave it meant very much to us.
5. Because the process to bring it about was very
difficult.
8. What about our service to
God?
• Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge (beseech) you,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, which is your reasonable service.
• Does our service to God cost us anything?
• Ezra 7:10 For Ezra prepared his heart to seek
the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in
Israel statutes and judgments.
9. Do we prepare for worship
• Do we like they of old have a day of preparation
(John 19:31)?
• Do we purpose in our hearts to give prior to the
Lord’s day? (2 Corinthians 9:7)
• Do we examine ourselves to see if we are in error?
(Matthew 5:23-24; 1 Corinthians 11:28)
• This is part of our reasonable service to God!
(Romans 12:1)
10. What about our worship?
• John 4:24 …turn with me please…
• Hebrews 13:15-16 By Him therefore let us offer the
sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of
our lips giving thanks to His name. But to do good and to
communicate (share) forget not: for with such sacrifices
God is well pleased.
• Psalm 107:22 Let them also offer sacrifices of
thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing.
• 1 Corinthians 14:15 …turn with me please…
11. What about our worship?
• Acts 17:11 Now these were more noble-minded than
those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with
great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see
whether these things were so.
• Do we follow along, take notes, go back and fact check
the preacher? Do we say “amen” if we agree?
• Isaiah 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and
read: not one of these will be missing; None will lack its
mate.
12. What if ?
• If every elder said I will not be an elder in the
Lord’s church if it does not cost me nothing. Not a
hireling (John 10)?
• If every deacon said I will not be a deacon in the
Lord’s church if my serving does not cost me
nothing?
• If every member of the Lord’s church said I will not
wear the name Christian if it cost me nothing?
