Rudyard Kipling wasn’t driving a Volvo when he wrote “East is East, West is West, and never the twain
shall meet” - clearly the two did meet when Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, parent of Hong Kong-
based car maker Geely Automobile, purchased Volvo Car Corporation from Ford Motor in mid-2010.
Volvo Car continues to produce its models, including the S-Range, V-Range, XC-Range, and C-Range,
from manufacturing facilities in Sweden and Belgium, as well as in Malaysia and China.

After analysing the current situation, we designed the transformation process.
Transforming VolVo
The first step was to define the scope of the project. We followed this up with detailed Service Level
Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assigning roles & responsibilities.
Next, we ensured that Volvo would have a local team close by that they could interact with, while
some of the testing services were delivered from our global delivery network in low cost locations.
2. Vcc Qa cenTre
We started out with a dedicated Test Factory but has now progressed to a Quality Assurance Centre.
Which service for you? It has become integral to the smooth functioning of testing activities. It delivers end to end testing
of IT applications across the company, including administrative systems, Manufacturing Execution
• Efficiency testing System (MES)-related applications and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
• Functional testing We handle:
• Requirement • Efficiency testing: Since 2007, QA Centre – Performance Test Services deliver resourcing, tooling
Management and a packaged commercial model. The fixed-priced services are requested by projects in the
internal order system and delivered to exacting SLAs.
• usability Testing • Functional testing: Since the beginning of 2008, Logica has taken on full responsibility for
sourcing within functional testing. Even in this area, some fixed-price services are available for
projects to order through the internal order system.
• Requirement Management: Since the end of 2009 requirement management is included in the
scope of the QA Centre. Logica provides expertise within the requirements area according to an
agreed role list.
• usability Testing: The current service will be expanded to include responsibility for usability
testing.
