This presentation shows how Devon uses FME Server to pull, process, and write FLA (Field Logistics Application) trucking Logistics data to our Enterprise SDE Geodatabase in Near Real-Time using RESTful web services and how the data is being consumed by different groups of people throughout our business. The presentation will also focus on some of the challenges, benefits, and next steps that Devon has seen throughout the process.
The second part of the presentation illustrates how Devon uses FME to consolidate various data sources (both government and public) to help our emergency response and executive teams to make better and more informed decisions to minimize the destructive effects annual wildfires have on our community.

We used a combination of python, ArcGIS and FME in a workflow to prepare data for a google earth api site. Our FME workspaces focus on transforming feature classes to KML, utilizing KML transformers and KML attributes to produce a satisfactory result. Previous to this project, our workflow for converting feature class to KML to acheive the same result was much more cumbersome, involving many additional steps and software.

The mission of Uber is to make transportation as reliable as running water. The business is fundamentally driven by real-time data -- more than half of the employees in Uber, many of whom are non-technical, use SQL on a regular basis to analyze data and power their business decisions. We are building AthenaX, a stream processing platform built on top of Apache Flink to enable our users to write SQL to process real-time data efficiently and reliably at Uber's scale. Using Apache Calcite as query parser, AthenaX compiles the SQL down to Flink jobs. Leveraging Flink's unique streaming capabilities, AthenaX supports (1) consistent computations reliably thanks to at-least-once guarantees, (2) nontrivial analytics (e.g., windowing and joins) on multiple data sources, and (3) efficient and cost-effective executions in production through code generation and elastic scaling.

Performance and Application of GIS and Big Data ETL Processes Using FME
This presentation will describe the process and results of a project, which was conducted as a graduate-level capstone project for Johns Hopkins University, that utilized both FME Desktop and FME Cloud to manipulate approximately one terabyte of Landsat imagery. The purpose of the project was to expose the advantages and disadvantages of using local resources, cloud technology, and Big Data Software to view, process, and manipulate large amounts of geospatial data. This was executed by designing, testing, and analyzing various configurations of development and production environments, ranging from entirely on-premises to entirely in the cloud. The control process was developed in FME Workbench that reads and processes single-band Landsat imagery and metadata text files and outputs composite images using 11 common band combinations. Through a series of case studies, three main variables were examined: (1) location of and method of accessing source data, (2) location of system processing – locally verses in the cloud, and (3) file format and target destination of the output data. The successfulness of each case study was determined through analyzing a common set of success criteria, which includes: Total Processing Time, Ease of Setup, Cost, Ease of Viewing and Querying Results, Local System Requirements, and Network Requirements.

Processing Building Plans Faster and More Thoroughly using FME Server
Many large organizations expend significant financial and human resources managing facilities. To help with this effort, organizations have implemented Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS). These systems are data intensive and rely on accurate, timely, high quality data. The US Federal Government’s management model challenges this approach because facilities are owned by one large federal agency and managed and/or used by others. This means data is constantly flowing from one agency to another. For larger federal agencies, managing this data flow is a challenge in and of itself. To address the problem, Avineon is assisting a very large, nationwide federal agency to ingest, standardize, QC, and validate source AutoCAD plans using FME Server, saving federal workers countless hours while improving overall data quality. This presentation will showcase the development, implementation, and use of FME Server to help streamline this entire process.
Best Practices for Scaling an InfluxEnterprise Cluster
Dennis Brazil is the Sr. Manager, SRE Monitoring Ingest/Collectors & Alerting Platforms at PayPal. He has over 30 years of experience in building high performing professional teams with disciplines in Windows, Linux, Unix, MySQL, VMWare, F5 Big-IP & Citrix Netscaler Load Balancers. With these teams, they have been able to build monitoring solutions that allow them to improve Paypal’s operational efficiencies while mitigating incidents involving multiple teams.
Automating Crime Data to Import into GIS
Using FME, we have been able to take raw data from our records management system for Police (which is in a propriety Linux system) and be able to transform it into our ArcGIS SDE environment for online mapping applications. The crimes data does not have a coordinate system or any other spatial data associated with it except addresses- FME helps us add the spatial component to be able to use it for our web map services. With additional help from FME Server, we automated this process to run nightly and to be able to give us email notifications when the workbench succeeds or fails.
Moving From a Large Onsite FME Server to a Large FME Azure Environment
We have moved our FME Server infrastructure from on-premise to in the cloud in the last few years. This presentation will showcase some of the challenges and things to consider when moving into a large environment while in production.

This talk looks at how IBM successfully partnered with Firemonkeys, a major studio that had hit their vertical scaling limit, to design and deploy a new Docker-based architecture on SoftLayer. Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
