This document summarizes a study on the problems and prospects of women entrepreneurs in Sivagangai District, India. It provides background on women's entrepreneurship development efforts in India. The study aims to analyze the socioeconomic profiles, challenges, and government support systems for women entrepreneurs in Sivagangai District. It finds that most women entrepreneurs are over 40, married, Hindu, and from nuclear families. Their businesses are typically local, cash-based, and they spend long hours on them. Earning an income was found to be the main motivation to start a business. The study helps identify problems faced by women entrepreneurs to improve government support programs.

During the last two decades, there has been a general change in the destination of migration from rural‐rural to rural‐urban. However, the intensity of migration is generally reported to be low in India due to the conventional approach of defining migration.
Planning for the poor in the destination cities is conspicuous by its absence. As the mind‐set of the urban planners is to treat migrants as outsiders and a burden on the existing civic infrastructure, they get excluded from most urban planning processes and mechanisms, compounding the problems that they are already plagued with.
Inter‐State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979 was promulgated for the purpose of regulation of the service condition of the migrant workers, but in status today, it is an ineffective piece of legislation. In today’s scenario, there is an urgent need to revisit the debate on legislation for the welfare of migrant workers.

Migration and urbanization are two important inter-related phenomena of economic development. If channelized properly, it has the potential of societal transformation. Otherwise, it can be not only counter-productive for the societal harmony but also disastrous for the long term economic development. The historical experiences have proved that process of migration is unstoppable in modern times. The migrant workers are key force behind rising contribution of urban conglomerations to India’s GDP. Migrants are indispensable but mostly invisible key actors in cities’ development. Rural migrants in urban spaces are socially mobile, culturally flexible and economically aspiring people. Migrants are an important component of social dynamism and material development of the society. They can also be tools of cultural amalgamation and innovation. Yet, they are most vulnerable to economic exploitation and social stereotyping.
The contribution of migrants to the GDP of the country goes unnoticed. It is estimated that the migrants contribute no less than 10% to the country’s GDP.1 Many other positive as well as potential impact through the migration process remains unrecognized. According to Census 2001, in India, internal migrants account for as large as 309 million, which was about 28% of the then total population. More recent numbers, as revealed by NSSO (2007-08), show that there are about 326 million internal migrants in India, i.e. nearly 30% of the total population. Almost 70% of all the migrants are women, the fact often forgotten and lost in the data on migration.
People who have lived in Nepal for a long time must have noticed the ubiquitous Kirana Pasals, small mom and pop stores that adorn every street faced building. However, it also observed that these micro enterprises rarely grow to become medium or large-sized operations, like department stores or supermarkets. This observation called for a quest to find out what prevented the growth of these independent businesses run by entrepreneurial and hardworking people and if it had anything to do with economic freedom.
Using both primary and secondary data sources, Samriddhi Foundation conducted a study for six months (April – September 2013) to understand an economic phenomenon which is part of the daily life of most Nepalese and yet, has rarely been studied before, let alone from the lens of economic freedom.Here is the detailed finding of the report.
Purpose of making this presentation was to explain how is the scope of women entrepreneurship in India. What all are the issues presented in the system which affect women entrepreneurs in India. Bangladesh has enormous young women and productive workforce that will get an opportunity to involve in Small
and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector. This paper aims to investigate the factors that affect women involvement as
entrepreneur in SMEs sector, economic development and its impact on poverty reduction in Bangladesh. The study
adopts the quantitative analysis of possible factors that may affect women involvement as entrepreneur in SMEs
sector, economic development and its impact on poverty reduction. By using Convenient Sampling Technique, the
data has been collected from 300 respondents. Data are analyzed using frequency, mean, standard deviation and
regression analysis. From the outcomes of descriptive statistics analysis, the study is found that business experience,
business plan, practical knowledge, security, interest & hobby, others business house profits, adequate capital,
business registration procedures, qualified leaders & trainers, and bank & financial institutions support are affected
women involvement as entrepreneur in SMEs sector. From the results of regression analysis, this research is found
that economical, psychological, knowledge & skills, family, and legal & administrative as the essential factors,
which significantly affect women involvement as entrepreneur in SMEs sector in Bangladesh. The research is
revealed that women entrepreneur, long-term business success and employment creation as the vital factors, which
notably affect economic development. The study is also revealed that economic development as the critical factor,
which considerably affects poverty reduction. This examination may contribute to these women entrepreneur issues.
The results of this investigation can be applied by government and non-government organization, public institutions,
rural development academy, policymakers and even researchers to inspire women involvement as entrepreneur in
SMEs sector. The researchers strongly expect that this investigation creates value to the literature because it uses a
conceptual framework to give explanation the factors that affect women involvement as entrepreneur in SMEs
sector, economic development and its impact on poverty reduction in Bangladesh.

This study employed a descriptive research design and purposive sampling technique. Her sample size of 60 people was collected using the WHOQOL questionnaire. Empowerment of women essentially mean improving the social, political and
economic status of women, especially the traditional underprivileged one. It means
creating an environment where women are free from any kind of physical, mental
abuse, exploitation, and prejudice that they are the most vulnerable section in the
society. Recognising the importance of women in the economic growth of the nation,
the Government of India along with State Governments has been taking several efforts
since post-independence period to uplift women from their conditions in general.
Attempts were made by the Government to address the issues through employment,
empowerment, labour force participation, education, gender equality and
entrepreneurship. The focus of Government is progressively shifting towards
promoting women entrepreneurship to motivate women to participate in the economic
activities. The study examines the perspective of women who are getting benefitted
through various government schemes implemented in assistance with nongovernmental organizations. The impact observed is in terms of such as - financial
assistance, training facilities, infrastructure and its awareness, motivation,
confidence, increase in the rate of women opting for entrepreneurship. Studies have
shown that such initiatives are boosting self-confidence, increasing the purchasing
power and decision making power, leading to their empowerment. It, therefore,
addresses the economic, socio-cultural, inter-personal, psychological, political and
legal domains of empowerment. The study has been conducted in three selected
village of Maharashtra. Data was collected from various NGO, Women entrepreneurs
and women beneficiaries associated with various Self-Help Group’s (SHG’s) in the
Kanave, Shahapur (Dist. Thane) and Vengaon, Karjat (Dist. Raigad) regions. The
Mixed method approach has been adopted for analysis of this research. Primary data
was collected from personal interviews with well-structured questionnaires and focus
group discussions in both the areas.

Women empowerment is very important for the development of a country. Women are offering their services in every sector of a economy. The role of social media has become very important in shaping present society. Social media educates the people about the current issues and influences the public opinion. The reach of media to common people has increased and undoubtedly social media has attained the role of a very powerful organ in all spears of life. It's a common belief that women are network savvy entrepreneurs are able to reach the larger target customers in low cost. Social media entrepreneurship has definitely offered financial independence and sense of pride and purpose. Social media is helping the women to empower themselves by using different tools of media. They increase the participation and access of women to self expression and decision making through the media and new technologies of communication is empowering the women. On the other hand the influence of social media in buying decision of consumers has been very significant. The interface between producers sellers and customers of goods and services increases and helps to strengthen the decision making power of customers. The present study is wholly presented by women respondents who are engaged in online business as the study aims to find out their participation in social media for women entrepreneurial ventures. Present paper aimed to study the status of women, their demographic characteristics, businesses they have started, nature of their businesses and usage of social media in business and growth therein due to strong network. economic development schemes for income generation and provided skill development training
to people in scheduled caste and scheduled tribes in state. TAHDCO is providing subsidy for

programme is one of the measure for economic empowerment of women as group. This study

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. this research is to study these challenges and
interdisciplinary relationship.
Government gives the support to
women entrepreneurship through the medium
of the DIC S, MCED, NGO’ EDP Cell, MSME
scheme and the like. There is need of an enquiry
whether the performance of DIC in Sivagangai
is improving or not, whether the number of
beneficiaries is increasing, or the amount of
loan disbursed is growing and so on. Diverse
the schemes for the development of women
entrepreneurs are being put into operation by
both state and central government. Hence an
attempt has been made to analyse the problems
faced by women entrepreneurs and prospectus
of women entrepreneurs.
Objectives of the Study
To study and analyse the socio economic
profiles of women entrepreneurs in
Sivagangai District.
To analyse the economic, psychological,
social and financial problems and
constraints of entrepreneurship
development of women entrepreneurship in
Sivagangai District.
To analyses the challenges being faced by
woman entrepreneur in Sivagangai District.
To offer suitable suggestions on the basis of
findings of the study.
Hypotheses of the Study
There is no significant relationship
between age of workers and the overall opinion
on the problems and prospects of women
entrepreneurs in Sivagangai.
There is no significant relationship

Methodology
The validity of research is based on the
systematic method of data collection and
analysis of the data collected. The data is
collected through primary data as well as
secondary data. The study is based on the data
collected from individual women entrepreneurs
in Sivagangai District. The sampling technique
followed in this study is non-probability
convenient sample techniques are used to select
the respondents from the available data base.
Accordingly, the researcher has selected 120
respondents in the study area.
Socio-Economic condition
Women form a nation’s significant
human resource. They should be sued as
instruments for the growth and development of
economy of each and every state. Women, on
the other hand, are willing to take up business
and lend their contributions to the growth of the
nation. Women are now ready to do all business
and enter all professions like trade, industry,
engineering etc. The role and participation of
women are recognized and steps are being
taken for the promotion of women
entrepreneurship, women must be shaped up
properly with other entrepreneurial traits and
skills to face the challenges of world markets,
meet the changes in the trends, be competent
enough to sustain and strive for excellence in
the entrepreneurial field. A complete
entrepreneurial development in a nation can be
achieved by the participation of women and
therefore the growth and development of
women entrepreneurs must be accelerated

of above 40 years.
A majority (56.66%) of the women
entrepreneurs are from nuclear family.
It is noted that a majority (55.00%) of the

S.S.L.C.
It is understood that a considerable number
(46.66%) of the respondents have their
monthly income between 5,000 and

It is inferred that a sizable number

received income from business between
10,000 and 15,000.
A majority (50.00%) of the women
entrepreneurs are earned other than
business income between 2,000 and
5,000.
It can be concluded that most (45.00%) of
the women entrepreneurs have spent time
for business of above 12 hours per day.
Most of the women entrepreneurs (45.00%)
have acquired skill through employment.
This study shows that a sizable portion
(46.66%) of the women entrepreneurs have
taken decision in their business
independently.
Most (51.67%) of the women entrepreneurs
said that their market area is within the
district.
It is indicated that a majority (55.00%) of
the women entrepreneurs have made cash
sales only in the study area.
It can be concluded that a sizeable number
(41.61%) of the women entrepreneurs are
expressed that they allowed credit upto 15
days.
Reason for Starting Business
The Garret ranks are calculated by
using appropriate Garret ranks, the Garret value
is ascertained. The Garret table values and
scores of each rank is Table 4.31. Finally by
adding each now, total Garret score is obtained.

It is observed from the Table 3.34 that
‘Earn Income’ has been ranked as the first
factor to start the business of women
entrepreneurs, ‘Family Situation’ has been
ranked second, ‘Social Status’ is in third
position, followed by ‘Empowerment of
Women’ the fourth rank, ‘No other Go’ has
been ranked fifth and ‘Lack of Employment’
ranked as the sixth to start the business of
women entrepreneurs in the study area. It is
inferred that according to garret scores to earn
more income and the garret score is awarded to
social status.
It is concluded and confirmed that there
is a significant relationship between age levels
with level of satisfaction of sample worker
respondents.

It is inferred form Table 3.36 that out
of 120 sample respondents, 60 respondents are
with medium level opinion, 15.00 per cent of
the respondents belong to the age group
below30 years, and 35.00 per cent of them
belong to the age group of above 30 years.
Out of 22 respondents having low level
opinion, 18.33 per cent belong to the age group
of above 30 years.
Out of 38 respondents having with high
level opinion, 18.33 per cent belong to the age
group of below 30 years and the rest 13.34 per
cent of the women entrepreneurs belong to the
age group of above 30 years.
To test the relationship between the
Age and the opinion of the respondents towards
the level of opinion on investment decision of
investors, the following null hypothesis is
formulated.
“There is no significant relationship
between the age of the respondents and their
level of opinion on constrains of Women
Entrepreneurs”.
Since the calculated value of (21.61) is
greater than the table value both at five per cent
of significance, the null hypothesis is rejected.
Hence, it is concluded that there is a significant
difference between the age of the respondents
and their level of opinion on constrains of
women entrepreneurs in the study area.

It is inferred form Table 3.38 that out
of 120 sample women entrepreneurs, 42
respondents with medium level opinion, 13.33
per cent of the women entrepreneurs belong to
the age group below30 years, and 21.67 per cent
belong to the age group of above 30 years. Out
of 36 respondents having low level opinion,
11.67 per cent belong to the age group of below
30 years and the remaining 18.33 per cent
belong to the age group of above 30 years. Out
of 42 respondents having with high level
opinion, 8.33per cent belong to the age group of
below 30 years and the rest 26.67 per cent
belong to the age group of above 30 years.
To test the relationship between the

entrepreneurs towards the level of opinion on
problem and prospects in the study area, the
following null hypothesis is formulated. “There
is no significant relationship between the age of
the respondents and their level of opinion on
problems and prospects of Women
Entrepreneurs”.
Since the calculated value of (2.62) is
less than the table value both at five per cent of
significance, the null hypothesis is accepted.
Hence, it is concluded that there is a significant
difference between the age and their level of
opinion on problems prospects of women
entrepreneurs in the study area.

opinion on problems and prospects of women
entrepreneurs in the study area.
Suggestions
1. The government should take necessary
steps to increase the volume of sales by
crossing the border of the state.
2. The Government should offer more
financial help to improve the SHG
3. The district administration should take
necessary steps to acquire more skills to run
the business through technical courses
4. The Government should take necessary
decision to construct separate building to
run the industry.
5. The district administration should take
necessary steps to increase the
manufacturing units.
6. It is inferred that according to garret scores
to earn more income and the garret score is
awarded to social status.
Conclusion
Days are gone when women in India
were confined, within four walls of their homes
and their immense strength and potential
remained unrecognized and unaccounted for.
Today major changes are occurring in the way
of the women entrepreneurs who prepare
themselves for starting their own venture more
formal training, greater economic opportunities
and changing social attitudes are all influencing
the entrepreneurial environment. The
successful women entrepreneurs became the
role models to others.
