Problems and Prospects of Woman Entrepreneurship – A Review of LiteratureIOSRJBM
Any nation, to grow today in the world of intense competition, requires entrepreneurs at the core of the economic development. Entrepreneurial activities and entrepreneurship has been dominated by males since ages. However, in the era of information technology, the women have become more aware and better educational facilities have enabled them to venture into this male dominated space. The women today have emerged as a key player in economic development of the nations. However this transformation of society is far from over and the women entrepreneurs not only face difficulties while starting up an enterprise but also during the running phase. Globally, they have become a key player in sustaining both social development and economic growth. However, in a country like India where almost 50% of population is made up of women, the number of enterprises run by women entrepreneurs is only 7.36% or out of 361.76 Lakh enterprises in the MSME sector, only 26.61 Lakh have women at the top. There are a number of socio-economic hurdles faced by the women while they attempt to venture into setting up and running their own enterprises. Hence, the paper discusses the status of the Women Entrepreneurs and their importance. Also, an attempt is made to identify the challenges faced by these women entrepreneurs, by reviewing various literatures and provide some suggestion for overcoming these obstacles
There is increasing recognition that economically empowering women is essential both to realize women’s rights and to achieve broader development goals such as economic growth, poverty reduction, health, education and welfare. In the last five years, a broad range of organizations have committed themselves to the goal of women’s economic empowerment.
These organizations realize that economically empowering women is a win-win that can benefit not only women, but society more broadly. It promotes women’s ability to achieve their rights and well-being while also reducing household poverty, increasing economic growth and productivity, and increasing efficiency.
Research has found strong reasons to emphasize women’s economic empowerment in development programs:
• Economic empowerment is one of the most powerful routes for women to achieve their potential and advance their rights.
• Since women make up the majority of the world’s poor, meeting poverty-reduction goals requires addressing women and their economic empowerment.
• Discrimination against women is economically inefficient. National economies lose out when a substantial part of the population cannot compete equitably or realize its full potential.
• Working with women makes good busi- ness sense. When women have the right skills and opportunities, they can help businesses and markets grow.
• Women who are economically empowered contribute more to their families, societies and national economies.
It has been shown that women invest extra income in their children, providing a route to sustain- able development. As interest in fostering women’s economic empowerment grows, two questions arise.
1. How is women’s economic empowerment defined? What does the term women’s economic empowerment encompass?
2. How can women’s economic empowerment be measured and evaluated so organizations can show they are on the right track to achieving it? Answers to these questions are essential to design meaningful strategies that will lead to women’s economic empowerment.
This document addresses them by presenting:
1. A definition of women’s economic empowerment;
2. A measurement framework that can guide the design, implementation and evaluation of programs to economically empower women; and
3. A set of illustrative indicators that can serve as concrete examples for developing meaningful metrics for success.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,

The role of women entrepreneurship in economic growth and problems and prospects
1. THE ROLE OF WOMEN
ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN ECONOMIC
GROWTH: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS
2. The women consist of around 49.6% (Source: UN, World

of global population. Women Entrepreneurship plays a very important
role in the development of any nation. The Women entrepreneurship
leads to the creation of capital as well led to the generation of many
social benefits. However, entrepreneurship is not so popular and
common in the developing nations like India. Women entrepreneurs
create new jobs for themselves and others and by being different also
provide society with different solutions to management, organization
and business problems as well as to the exploitation of entrepreneurial
opportunities.
Abstract
3. Abstract
Therefore, sometime will be spent on what needs
to be done in order to attain improved and more reliable
estimates on the impact of entrepreneurship and in
particular women’s entrepreneurship, on economic
development. However, they still represent a minority of
all entrepreneurs.
Through this study, we have tried to throw some
lights on problems and opportunities for women in the
area of entrepreneurship. One of the important
dimensions of inclusive growth is women’s direct
participation in nation’s progress.
4. Introduction
Entrepreneurship is considered as one of the most
important factors contributing to the development
of society. And, women’s entrepreneurial role is
limited in the large scale industries and
technology based businesses. But even in small
scale industries, the women’s participation is very
low. As per the third all-India census of Small
Scale Industries, only 10.11% of the micro and
small enterprises were owned by women, and
only 9.46% of them were managed by women.
While the number of women operating their own
business is increasing globally, women continue
to face huge obstacles that stunt the growth of
their businesses, such as lack of capital, strict
social constraints, and limited time and skill.
5. Remote to Globalization
Women Entrepreneurs may be defined as the
women or a group of women who initiate, organize
and operate a business enterprise. Women
entrepreneurs engaged in business due to push and
pull factors which encourage women to have an
independent occupation and stands on their on legs.
A sense towards independent decision-making on
their life and career is the motivational factor
behind this urge. Saddled with household chores
and domestic responsibilities women want to get
independence. Under the influence of these factors
the women entrepreneurs choose a profession as a
challenge and as an urge to do some thing new.
Such a situation is described as pull factors. While
in push factors women engaged in business
activities due to family compulsion and the
responsibility is thrust upon them.
6. Objectives
1. To identify the factors responsible for
encouraging women to become entrepreneurs.
2. To examine the problems faced by women
entrepreneurs
3. To study the impact of assistance by the
government on women's entrepreneurship.
7. Data & Methodology

data collected through literature survey. All facts
and problems discussed in this article are opinions
of the respective authors. However, the present

12. Objective-3
To study the impact of assistance by the government on women's
entrepreneurship
The government of India and the various state governments have come up with policies and
programmes to assist women entrepreneurs and help in solving the above stated challenges
and problems which they face. A brief account of these policies and programmes are given
below.
1. Mudra Yojana Scheme 7. Orient Mahila Vikas Yojana Scheme
2. Annapurna Scheme 8. Bhartiya Mahila Bank Business Loan etc.,

Women Entrepreneurs
4. Cent Kalyani Scheme
5. Mahila Udyam Nidhi Scheme

• Women should be considered as specific target group.
• Regular entrepreneurship awareness programs should be conducted with
the intention of creating knowledge among women about the various
areas to conduct business.
• The standards of education of women should be enhanced and effective
practical experience and personality development and training programs
should be conducted to improvise their over-all personality standards.
• Educational institutes should tie up with various government and non-
government agencies to assist in entrepreneurship development mainly to
plan business projects.
• Develop professional competencies in managerial, leadership, marketing,
financial, technical, production process, profit planning, etc.
• There should be a continuous attempt to inspire, encourage, motivate and
co-operate women entrepreneurs.
14. Conclusion
It can be concluded that women entrepreneurs faced multiple problems
among the problems economic problem is main. Higher prospects are
indicated by women entrepreneurs and within the service sector
corporate/industries have the shows higher prospects to women. It can be
said that today we are in a better position wherein women participation in the
field of entrepreneurship is increasing at considerable rate, efforts are being
taken at the economy as well as global level to enhance woman’s
involvement in the enterprise sector. This is mainly because of attitude
change, diverted conservative mindset of society to modern one, daring and
risk-taking abilities of women, support and cooperation by society members,
changes and relaxations in government policies, granting various up-liftment
schemes to women entrepreneurs etc.
15. Conclusion
Entrepreneurship among women, no doubt improves the wealth of
the nation in general and of the family in particular. Women today are more
willing to take up activities that were once considered the preserve of men,
and have proved that they are second to no one with respect to contribution
to the growth of the economy. Women entrepreneurship must be molded
properly with entrepreneurial traits and skills to meet the changes in trends,
challenges in global markets and also to be competent enough to sustain and
strive for excellence in the entrepreneurial arena. Women entrepreneurs
have become a strong driving force in today's corporate world.
