Anterior guidance
Incisal guidance
:
Mutually protected occlusion
• During the centric occlusion (with maximum
intercuspation) the vertical occlusal forces
will be directed to the posterior teeth with
heavy contact, so that relieving forces from
anterior teeth (light contact)
• In this position the posterior teeth protecting
the anterior teeth
Mutually protected occlusion
• During anterior movements of the mandibule
the palatal surfaces of the anterior teeth will
guide the mandibular movements foreword
and downward so that disclosing the posterior
teeth
• Thus the anterior teeth are protecting the
posterior teeth from horizontal forces which
are more destructive to posterior teeth
Mutually protected occlusion
• During the lateral movements of the mandibul
the upper and lower canines on the working
side only will contact each other, dis closing
the anterior and posterior teeth
• Hence protecting these teeth from lateral
forces
