Hands on Docker - Launch your own LEMP or LAMP stackDana Luther
In this tutorial we will go over setting up a standard LEMP stack for development use and learn how to modify it to mimic your production/pre-production environments as closely as possible. We will go over how to switch from Nginx to Apache, upgrade PHP versions and introduce additional storage engines such as Redis to the equation. We’ll also step through how to run both unit and acceptance suites using headless Selenium images in the stack. Leave here fully confident in knowing that whatever environment you get thrown into, you can replicate it and work in it comfortably.
SysAdmins love Apache. It allows one to run websites on the Internet with minimal configuration and administration.
However, this fexibility and simplicity is what typically leads Apache to become a memory hog. Utilizing these easy to understand tips, you can significantly boost Apache's performance.

Windows Server and Fast CGI Technologies For PHPTim Keller
PHP is a wildly popular scripting language for the web, and powers some of the largest websites on the Internet. Traditionally, PHP on Windows has been something of an oxymoron.
Join us and find out why PHP is now highly performant, scalable and efficient when run under FastCGI on Windows Server and IIS. Presented by a local PHP developer, you'll gain insight into how you can take advantage of PHP on Windows, and integrate it with technologies like PowerShell, ASP.NET and SQLServer.

These slides are intended for developers who are interested in modifying the default look and feel of AtoM - known as the Dominion theme - and developing a custom theme plugin. They include some theme examples, how to register a plugin in Symfony, and some ideas of the elements you can modify via theming, with examples.
PHP is a first class citizen on IIS. A lot has been done in order to make sure that PHP can work well and fast on Windows. We will start by installing PHP with PHP Manager and discussing all the options including what thread safe vs non thread safe and VC6 vs VC9 means. Next we'll take a look at how to optimize the FastCGI IIS extension that Microsoft and Zend developed to provide a secure and performant environment for PHP applications. The last part of this webcast will show how to build PHP with Profile Guided Optimizations (PGO), a technique that can provide a significant performance boost in a wide range of applications.

Web / TYPO3 Performance is like an onion: Has several layers and makes you cry. I show you the seven layers of TYPO3 performance and give tipps, tricks and anecdotes how to solve these issues.
The need to scale is in high demand in an age where everything is moving to the cloud. Though the standard Apache configuration could handle a website with moderate traffic, the minute it gets slash dotted or twitted multiple times could spell an embarrassing crash landing! If you are the administrator of such a website then good luck finding another job! On the other hand you value high availability in the midst of popularity then read on. On this one day workshop, we will show you how to scale your website and webapps to scale to handle thousands of simultaneous sessions the right way. The topics covered will include:
- Setting up Apache and NGiNXM
- Setting up a sample LAMP web app
- Benchmarking Apache performance
- Fine tuning Apache to improve performance
- Fine tuning NGiNX to improve performance
- Discussion about code level improvements when developing custom webapps using PHP

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
