The document summarizes a research paper that proposes a framework for integrating human-computer interaction (HCI) processes into distributed software development. It begins by discussing how HCI and software development have traditionally evolved independently. It then presents a proposed HCI process framework that includes four phases made up of analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation activities. Each activity involves specific methods, skills, and deliverables. The framework is meant to facilitate communication between HCI and development teams. The document also analyzes gaps between HCI and distributed development approaches and priorities. It argues that integrating the two fields could help deliver higher quality products that better meet users' needs.
In today's economy, enterprises require knowledge more than ever before. Employees are being classified through their skill set and experience, where the tacit knowledge of individuals is the key factor. The effect of knowledge hunger can be easily seen in agile software development teams. To sustain the quality permanence of software development, it is essential to transform individuals' tacit knowledge to core organizational knowledge. To achieve this goal, every software development process utilizes different knowledge sharing and creation approaches. In this paper, knowledge sharing issues are surveyed and categorized into: 1) sociological issues, 2) documentation issues, and 3) implementation issues with/without pair programming. Finally, a proposed technique, Knowledge Temple, is introduced as feasible improvement to well-known knowledge sharing problems for small agile software development teams.

A HEURISTIC-BASED APPROACH FOR USABILITY EVALUATION OF ACADEMIC PORTALSijcsit
Human computer interaction (HCI) is concerned with the practice of usability, which is a measure that evaluates the simplicity of using a system, software, or interface design for performing particular tasks. Evaluation is a process by which designers gather information about a systems usability to improve its user interfaces features. This research presents a study of a usability evaluation of EduGate, an online academic portal of King Saud University. In this research the heuristic evaluation method was chosen to evaluate the usability of the EduGate. Our results show that, the EduGate suffers from certain usability problem and some recommendations were proposed to enhance the usability of the EduGate. A questionnaire was then used to collect the feedback of real users (i.e. students) on the value of these recommendations. The participants supported 80% of the proposed recommendations to improve the usability of the EduGate.
The document discusses applying collaborative technologies to software development. It outlines the contents, which include introducing collaboration, discussing problems with non-collaborative work, and describing the proposed collaborative application's attributes and capabilities. The document aims to design an architecture that enables easy collaboration between distributed software engineers to reduce costs and improve productivity.
BEST PRACTICES FOR IMPROVING USER INTERFACE DESIGN ijseajournal
A rich and effective computational system must have a friendly user interface with appealing usability features that provides excellent user experience. In order to develop interactive systems with the best user experience, an innovative iterative approach to user interface engineering is required because it is one of the most challenging areas given the diversity of knowledge, ideas, skills and creativity needed for building smart interfaces in order to succeed in today’s rapidly paced and tough, competitive marketplace. Many modeling aspects including analytical, intuitive, artistic, technical, graphical, mathematical, psychological and programming models need to be considered in the development process of an effective user interface. This research examines some of the past practices and recommends a set of guidelines for designing effective user interfaces. It also demonstrates how UML use case diagrams can be enhanced by relating user interface elements to use cases.
This document discusses lessons that can be learned from open source software projects and applied to commercial software development. It summarizes that open source projects typically have:
1) Core teams of 15 or fewer people who contribute the majority of code changes and enhancements.
2) Extensive informal communication between developers, through mailing lists and chat sites, which aids coordination.
3) Improved customer support due to many users providing help and feedback.
The document recommends commercial projects emulate open source practices like increasing interaction between developers, whether co-located or distributed, and between developers and users.

Personas_practice and theory by Pruitt & GrudinFran Maciel
The document summarizes the authors' approach to using personas, a user representation technique, to inform the design process. It describes how they have extended Alan Cooper's personas method over three years of use at Microsoft to address key issues like ensuring personas are believable and effectively communicated. The authors outline their process which involves extensive user research, validating personas, and using them to convey information across teams through various materials at different stages of development.
Majority of agile projects currently involve interactive user interface designs, which can only be possible by following UCD in agile software model. But the integration of UCD is not clear in the current agile models. Both Agile models and UCD have iterative nature but agile models focus on coding and development of software; whereas, UCD focuses on user interface of the software. Similarly, both of them have testing features where the agile model involves automated tested code while UCD involves an expert or a user to test the user interface. In this paper, a new agile usability model is presented and tested in companies and are presented. Key results from these projects clearly shows: the proposed agile model incorporates usability evaluation methods, improve the relationship between usability experts to work with agile software experts; in addition, allows agile developers to incorporate the result from UCD into subsequent interactions.
DESIGN OF A MULTI-AGENT SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE FOR THE SCRUM METHODOLOGYijseajournal
The objective of this paper is to design a multi-agent system architecture for the Scrum methodology.
Scrum is an iterative, incremental framework for software development which is flexible, adaptable and
highly productive. An agent is a system situated within and a part of an environment that senses the
environment and acts on it, over time, in pursuit of its own agenda and so as to effect what it senses in the
future (Franklin and Graesser, 1996). To our knowledge, this is first attempt to include software agents in
the Scrum framework. Furthermore, our design covers all the stages of software development. Alternative
approaches were only restricted to the analysis and design phases. This Multi-Agent System (MAS)
Architecture for Scrum acts as a design blueprint and a baseline architecture that can be realised into a
physical implementation by using an appropriate agent development framework. The development of an
experimental prototype for the proposed MAS Architecture is in progress. It is expected that this tool will
provide support to the development team who will no longer be expected to report, update and manage
non-core activities daily.
Information Technology Project Management - part 05Rizwan Khurram
This document provides an overview of scope management for IT projects. It discusses planning scope management, collecting requirements, defining scope, creating a work breakdown structure (WBS), validating scope, and controlling scope. A WBS decomposes project deliverables into smaller components to aid in planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and change management. Maintaining a WBS dictionary with detailed descriptions of each item is important. Scope management aims to formally accept completed project deliverables and control any changes to the agreed-upon scope.
Software development field is becoming more
productive day by day with the wonderful model name Agile. Agile
is the main focus of research now a days. It is because of its
abilities of handling changes in efficient way through iterative and
incremental practices. Although it became famous because of its
capabilities still there are some issues in it, which is ignorance of
usability engineering in different phases of agile that is an
important aspect to understand the software. Usability has deep
roots in software quality and is a core construct of HCI. To develop
interactive and usable systems there is a need of such a model
which can integrate HCI with Agile. To address this issue. To solve
this issue we have proposed a model which will work with both
User Centered (main focus of HCI) and Agile by assembling
different practices from both fields which will result useable
products. It will enhance software life with user satisfaction by
giving them running software with usability.
A FRAMEWORK FOR INTEGRATING USABILITY PRACTICES INTO SMALL-SIZED SOFTWARE DEV...ijseajournal
Usability now appears to be a highly important attribute for software quality; it is a critical factor that
needs to be considered by every software-development organization when developing software to improve
customer satisfaction and increase competition in the market. There exists a lack of a reference model or
framework for small-sized software-development organizations to indicate which usability practices should
be implemented, and where in the system-development life cycle they need to be considered. We offer
developers who have the objective of integrating usability practices into their development life cycle a
framework that characterizes 10 selected user-centered design (UCD) methods in relation to five relevant
criteria based on some ISO factors that have an effect on the selection of methods (ISO/TR16982). The
selection of the methods for inclusion in the framework responds to these organizations’ needs; and we
selected basic methods that are recommended, cost-effective, simple to plan and apply, and easy to learn by
developers; and which can be applied when time, resources, skills, and expertise are limited. We favor
methods that are generally applicable across a wide range of development environments. The selected
methods are organized in the framework according to the stages in the development process where they
might be applied. The only requirement for the existing development life cycle is that it to be based on an
iterative approach.
This document discusses executing complex programs in the Indian public sector. It faces many challenges including lack of accountability, frequent changes in decision makers, low IT awareness, unclear vision, and empowering users. The author argues that to succeed, the implementation team must take on the role of a customer project manager to guide the project. A blended methodology of waterfall and Scrum is also needed to execute the project through quick wins, demonstrations of progress, and adapting to changes. The customer project manager role is critical to manage expectations, make decisions, and ensure adoption of the new systems.
KnowBench is a knowledge management system integrated into the Eclipse IDE that aims to support software developers during the development process. It does this by capturing knowledge and experience generated during development and facilitating reuse of this knowledge. KnowBench uses ontologies and semantic web technologies to semantically annotate and link different types of knowledge artifacts, like source code, documentation, and tool data. This enables developers to efficiently search for and reuse relevant knowledge to help solve problems and improve software quality.
At present, the state-of-the-art supplies for conducting a face-to-face design thinking workshop typically consists of self-stick notes and stickers, markers, and whiteboards. However, this analog way of working is incongruent with the realities of global software companies, where most products and services are developed by distributed teams. This paper explores the process of facilitating remote design thinking workshops, using information technology and communication tools. The paper is based on a participatory action research undertaken by the author as a part of the doctoral thesis - ‘a study on an approach to prepare the organization mindset to build design-led innovation culture to become a customer-centric and future driven software company’ in the Indian IT sector. The participating company realized the innovation breakthroughs using design thinking can happen only when their organization can collaborate across disciplines, silos, time zones; and were looking for a solution to scale design thinking in their organization. Advances in Technology Project Management: Review of Open Source Software Int...Maurice Dawson
As organizations must continually drive down costs of software-driven projects, they need to evaluate the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and other software-based design methodologies. These methodologies include looking at software-based alternatives that could save a significant amount of money by reducing the amount of proprietary software. This chapter explores the use and integration of Open Source Software (OSS) in software-driven projects to include in enterprise organizations. Additionally, the legalities of the GNU General Public License (GPL), Lesser General Public License (LGPL), Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD), and Creative Commons are explored with the integration of these OSS solutions into organizations. Lastly, the chapter covers the software assurance and cyber security controls to associate with OSS to deploy a hardened product that meets the needs of today's dynamically evolving global business enterprise.

Improvement opportunity in agile methodology and a survey on the adoption rat...Alexander Decker
This document discusses improvements to agile methodology based on a survey conducted with software professionals. It identifies some issues with existing agile methods and proposes changes to critical adoption factors like requirements changes, work environments, task lengths, and meeting frequency. A survey was conducted with 135 professionals at a UK software company to assess adoption rates of the improved versus current agile methods. The results showed higher adoption rates for the improved method except among managers and architects. The paper concludes that modifying agile methods based on developer satisfaction can increase adoption.

This document summarizes a research paper that proposes developing a service mashup application for mobile users. It discusses how current mashup applications require significant processing power that mobile devices lack. The paper proposes a middleware platform that allows mobile users to define mashups, which are then executed on the middleware platform. It leverages various web APIs like Google Maps to develop a sample location-based service mashup app for Android. The app allows users to view their location on a map and add markers. The paper concludes the proposed platform demonstrates the feasibility of creating mashup applications for mobile through offloading processing to a middleware service.

It is impossible to separate the human factors from software engineering expertise during
software development, because software is developed by people and for people. The intangible
nature of software has made it a difficult product to successfully create, and an examination of
the many reasons for major software system failures show that the reasons for failures
eventually come down to human issues. Software developers, immersed as they are in the
technological aspect of the product, can quickly learn lessons from technological failures and
readily come up with solutions to avoid them in the future, yet they do not learn lessons from
human aspects in software engineering. Dealing with human errors is much more difficult for
developers and often this aspect is overlooked in the evaluation process as developers move on
to issues that they are more comfortable solving. A major reason for this oversight is that
software psychology (the softer side) has not developed as extensively

BROAD UNEXPOSED SKILLS OF TRANSGENDER ENTREPRENEURSIAEME Publication
Since ages gender difference is always a debatable theme whether caused by nature, evolution or environment. The birth of a transgender is dreadful not only for the child but also for their parents. The pain of living in the wrong physique and treated as second class victimized citizen is outrageous and fully harboured with vicious baseless negative scruples. For so long, social exclusion had perpetuated inequality and deprivation experiencing ingrained malign stigma and besieged victims of crime or violence across their life spans. Living in 21st century in itself reminds all of us the necessity of police and its administration. As more and more we are entering into the modern society and culture, the more we require the services of the so called ‘Khaki Worthy’ men i.e., the police personnel. Whether we talk of Indian police or the other nation’s police, they all have the same recognition as they have in India. But as already mentioned, their services and requirements are different after the like 26th November, 2008 incidents, where they without saving their own lives has sacrificed themselves without any hitch and without caring about their respective family members and wards. In other words, they are like our heroes and mentors who can guide us from the darkness of fear, militancy, corruption and other dark sides of life and so on. Now the question arises, if Gandhi would have been alive today, what would have been his reaction/opinion to the police and its functioning? Would he have some thing different in his mind now what he had been in his mind before the partition or would he be going to start some Satyagraha in the form of some improvement in the functioning of the police administration? Really these questions or rather night mares can come to any one’s mind, when there is too much confusion is prevailing in our minds, when there is too much corruption in the society and when the polices working is also in the questioning because of one or the other case throughout the India. It is matter of great concern that we have to thing over our administration and our practical approach because the police personals are also like us, they are part and parcel of our society and among one of us, so why we all are pin pointing towards them.

ATTRITION IN THE IT INDUSTRY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC: LINKING EMOTIONAL INTE...IAEME Publication
Globally, Millions of dollars were spent by the organizations for employing skilled Information Technology (IT) professionals. It is costly to replace unskilled employees with IT professionals possessing technical skills and competencies that aid in interconnecting the business processes. The organization’s employment tactics were forced to alter by globalization along with technological innovations as they consistently diminish to remain lean, outsource to concentrate on core competencies along with restructuring/reallocate personnel to gather efficiency. As other jobs, organizations or professions have become reasonably more appropriate in a shifting employment landscape, the above alterations trigger both involuntary as well as voluntary turnover. The employee view on jobs is also afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic along with the employee-driven labour market. So, having effective strategies is necessary to tackle the withdrawal rate of employees. By associating Emotional Intelligence (EI) along with Talent Management (TM) in the IT industry, the rise in attrition rate was analyzed in this study. Only 303 respondents were collected out of 350 participants to whom questionnaires were distributed. From the employees of IT organizations located in Bangalore (India), the data were congregated. A simple random sampling methodology was employed to congregate data as of the respondents. Generating the hypothesis along with testing is eventuated. The effect of EI and TM along with regression analysis between TM and EI was analyzed. The outcomes indicated that employee and Organizational Performance (OP) were elevated by effective EI along with TM.

A STUDY OF VARIOUS TYPES OF LOANS OF SELECTED PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR BANKS...IAEME Publication
Banking regulations act of India, 1949 defines banking as “acceptance of deposits for the purpose of lending or investment from the public, repayment on demand or otherwise and withdrawable through cheques, drafts order or otherwise”, the major participants of the Indian financial system are commercial banks, the financial institution encompassing term lending institutions. Investments institutions, specialized financial institution and the state level development banks, non banking financial companies (NBFC) and other market intermediaries such has the stock brokers and money lenders are among the oldest of the certain variants of NBFC and the oldest market participants. The asset quality of banks is one of the most important indicators of their financial health. The Indian banking sector has been facing severe problems of increasing Non- Performing Assets (NPAs). The NPAs growth directly and indirectly affects the quality of assets and profitability of banks. It also shows the efficiency of banks credit risk management and the recovery effectiveness. NPA do not generate any income, whereas, the bank is required to make provisions for such as assets that why is a double edge weapon. This paper outlines the concept of quality of bank loans of different types like Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of selected public and private sector banks. This study is highlighting problems associated with the role of commercial bank in financing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME). The overall objective of the research was to assess the effect of the financing provisions existing for the setting up and operations of MSMEs in the country and to generate recommendations for more robust financing mechanisms for successful operation of the MSMEs, in turn understanding the impact of MSME loans on financial institutions due to NPA. There are many research conducted on the topic of Non- Performing Assets (NPA) Management, concerning particular bank, comparative study of public and private banks etc. In this paper the researcher is considering the aggregate data of selected public sector and private sector banks and attempts to compare the NPA of Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of public and private sector banks. The tools used in the study are average and Anova test and variance. The findings reveal that NPA is common problem for both public and private sector banks and is associated with all types of loans either that is housing loans, agriculture loans and loans to SMES. NPAs of both public and private sector banks show the increasing trend. In 2010-11 GNPA of public and private sector were at same level it was 2% but after 2010-11 it increased in many fold and at present there is GNPA in some more than 15%. It shows the dark area of Indian banking sector.

On Nylon/BaSO4, the wear behavior was measured by a wear monitor, pinon-disc friction by varying reinforcement, sliding speed, and sliding distance, and the microstructure of the crack surfaces was observed by SEM. This study provides significant contributions to ultimate strength by increasing BaSO4 content up to 16% in the composites, and sliding speed contributes 72.45% to the wear rate
ROLE OF SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF INDIA - PROBLEMS AND ...IAEME Publication
The majority of the population in India lives in villages. The village is the back bone of the country. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Developing the rural economy is one of the key indicators towards a country’s success. Whether it be the need to look after the welfare of the farmers or invest in rural infrastructure, Governments have to ensure that rural development isn’t compromised. The economic development of our country largely depends on the progress of rural areas and the standard of living of rural masses. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Rural entrepreneurship is based on stimulating local entrepreneurial talent and the subsequent growth of indigenous enterprises. It recognizes opportunity in the rural areas and accelerates a unique blend of resources either inside or outside of agriculture. Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India. The paper the tendencies of social entrepreneurship in India, to present successful examples of such business for providing recommendations how to improve situation in rural areas in terms of social entrepreneurship development. Indian government has made some steps towards development of social enterprises, social entrepreneurship, and social in- novation, but a lot remains to be improved.
OPTIMAL RECONFIGURATION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION RADIAL NETWORK USING HYBRID MET...IAEME Publication
Distribution system is a critical link between the electric power distributor and the consumers. Most of the distribution networks commonly used by the electric utility is the radial distribution network. However in this type of network, it has technical issues such as enormous power losses which affect the quality of the supply. Nowadays, the introduction of Distributed Generation (DG) units in the system help improve and support the voltage profile of the network as well as the performance of the system components through power loss mitigation. In this study network reconfiguration was done using two meta-heuristic algorithms Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance power quality and voltage profile in the system when simultaneously applied with the DG units. Backward/Forward Sweep Method was used in the load flow analysis and simulated using the MATLAB program. Five cases were considered in the Reconfiguration based on the contribution of DG units. The proposed method was tested using IEEE 33 bus system. Based on the results, there was a voltage profile improvement in the system from 0.9038 p.u. to 0.9594 p.u.. The integration of DG in the network also reduced power losses from 210.98 kW to 69.3963 kW. Simulated results are drawn to show the performance of each case.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
