500 Word Narrative Essay
1. 500 Word Narrative Essay
Crafting a 500-word narrative essay may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but delving into
the task reveals a myriad of challenges. The constrained word limit poses a considerable hurdle,
demanding succinctness without sacrificing substance. Condensing thoughts and experiences
into a limited canvas necessitates a careful selection of words, a daunting feat for those who
relish the expansiveness of language.
The inherent brevity of the format demands a laser-like focus on the core narrative, compelling
the writer to sift through memories and experiences with an almost surgical precision. Each word
becomes a precious resource, a building block that contributes to the overarching narrative. This
constraint pushes the author to make choices, sacrificing certain details for the sake of coherence
and conciseness.
Furthermore, the narrative essay format requires a delicate balance between storytelling and
reflection. The writer must not only recount events but also provide insight and meaning,
offering the reader a deeper understanding of the narrative's significance. Achieving this balance
within the confines of 500 words requires thoughtful deliberation, as there is little room for
excessive exposition or unnecessary tangents.
The temptation to stray beyond the designated word count lurks at every turn. One may find
oneself grappling with the desire to include additional anecdotes or elaborate on certain aspects
of the narrative. This struggle between the desire for completeness and the rigid constraints of
the word limit is a constant companion throughout the writing process.
Yet, despite these challenges, the 500-word narrative essay offers a unique opportunity for
creativity and self-expression. The writer must harness the power of language to evoke emotions,
paint vivid imagery, and leave a lasting impression within a tight framework. It is a task that
demands not only writing prowess but also a keen awareness of storytelling dynamics.
In conclusion, while the 500-word narrative essay may seem like a manageable task on the
surface, it conceals a web of intricacies that require finesse and skill to navigate successfully. It is
a journey of self-discovery, as the writer grapples with the constraints of brevity while striving to
convey a compelling and meaningful narrative.
For those who find themselves daunted by the prospect, seeking assistance is a valid option.

2. Diana s Monologue
MOM! Diana can hear up the stairs, through the thin walls. Her daughter, Scarlet,
stomps up the creaky wooden stairs, careful to skip the missing step. Diana calls
exasperatedly, In here, Scarlet. Slamming the door open, Diana s eleven year old
daughter storms across the small, cozy room, coming to a stop at her mother s
queen sized bed. A tear sheds from Scarlet s hazel eyes, her auburn hair falling
across her fair face. Dread seethes through Diana s veins, fear rising from the pit of
her almost anorexic stomach. Scarlet, what is it? Talk to me, she pleads. The child
s mouth twists into a grimace as she mumbles, Josh told me the reason you don t
spend time with me anymore is because because you don t love me. Diana s heart
constricts. Seventeen year old Josh, Scarlet s first crush, their next door neighbor,
told Scarlet her mother had forgotten about her, that she means nothing to Diana?
Scowling, Diana pats the space next to her on the warm bed, ignoring the pain; she
s too sick to feel angry now. All she feels is sorrow... and dread for what she needs to
tell her baby, her happiness. Hesitantly, Scarlet scrambles... Show more content on

This morning. You had told me you needed to talk to me after breakfast? The
princess frames the sentence as a question, as if maybe she was wrong about her
and Dayna s exchange this morning. Oh. Yes, but I think we should take a walk
first, Dayna says somberly. The ailing queen is aware of her inconvenient stalling,
for she is still identifying exactly what she will convey to her cherished daughter.
Thus, Dayna and Sienna gradually made their way toward the elegant flower garden,
Sienna attempting to make small talk with her mother every so often, but gave up
when she realized just how distracted Dayna had been for the last few
3. The Causes of the First World War
This question has formed part of the historiography of the causes of the First World
War, a historical debate that has endured ever since the conflict ended. It
periodically resurfaces with new theories being advanced such as the Fischer
thesis, usually on account of the release of previously unseen documents or
because of a shift in the political climate. It has emerged to the fore once again
because this year is the centennial of the war s outbreak and there are plans to
commemorate it nationally across the UK. In order to fully understand how
Britain s decision to go to war against Germany is best explained one must engage
into the debate revolving around the question of the extent to which Britain and
other countries were responsible for causing war. This helps explain the intention
Britain had for war which is vital in understanding their decision making process to
cause war in the first place. Some schools of thought have come to the conclusion
that it was everybody or nobody the continent slithered over the brink into the
boiling cauldron of war without any trace of apprehension or dismay. 1 That
analysis will be considered in this essay as will the widespread thesis that it was
Germany s aggression which not only created the preconditions for war, but also
triggered Britain into war with the political imbalance of power being created from
the growing naval and colonial expansion of Germany. Other factors that help explain
why Britain went to war against Germany
6. Women, Cultural Appropriation, Racial And Gender...
Throughout this course we discussed the Jazz Age, cultural appropriation, racial and
gender differences, and African Americans and Parisians during the interwar years.
We looked at many African American performers and performances that had a huge
impact on France s cultural identity. After learning about all of this in class, I wanted
to take my research further. I decided to research female foreign performers who
have had a major influence on the JazzAge in Paris. I decided to focus specifically on
three foreign females, and they are: singer and dancer Josephine Baker, dancer
Molly Spotted Elk, and dancer Ada Bricktop Smith. Each of these female performers
had a large impact on taking the Jazz Agein Paris to another level. African Americans
were responsible for bringing jazz music to Europe. Due to the fact that the people in
Paris were far more excepting of colored people, many African Americansinger and
dancers made their way to Paris to start their careers and a make a name for
themselves. There are few cities in the world that are more associated with jazz
than Paris (Pelzer). Most of the time, African American s in Paris were just looked
at by Parisians as entertainers (Stovall). These African American were objects of
Parisian curiosity and fantasy, and the audiences were very much intrigued by the
exoticism that went into so many performances. These foreign entertainers became
the backbones of the Paris Jazz Age (Pelzer). Josephine Baker is one of
7. Correlation Between Interest And Rate Rates
In economics, a puzzle occurs when empirical data does not match the expected
outcome that theory would predict. One such puzzle is the uncovered interest rate
parity, also known as UIP. This specific puzzle is about interest rate differentials and
exchange rate fluctuations, and how the empirical findings do not support the theory
behind them. In order to further understand this vast research has been conducted on
this puzzle in order to attempt to explain why it is occurring. The reason why there
is a desire to understand why this is occurring is because one of the foundations of
corporate finance is that no arbitrageopportunities are present, but here we see what
appears to be one. However, let us first explain what theory says should... Show more

Now looking at several case studies the first being Adrian W. Throop. In his model,
he runs four regressions where fluctuations in exchange rate between the dollar and
other major currencies are the dependent variables: Trade Weighted US$, Yen
/US$, Mark/US$, and Pound/US$. As for the independent we see the focus on the
interest rate change in the domestic and foreign market. He includes a great deal of
other information in how he acquires what he calls the real interest rate, and thus
account for shocks in the market. This is done to test the hypothesis that sticky
price model of exchange rates can explain why this puzzle is occurring with interest
rate and exchange rate of foreign currency. Whereas, the null hypothesis is that
sticky price model of exchange rates cannot explain why the puzzle is occurring. In
conclusion, Throop found that although the sticky model made sense theoretically
when put to the test empirically it fell short and was not able to adequately account
for the UIP puzzle. Now looking at Alfred V. Guender and his article on UIP he also
uses a regression to test the UIP puzzle, however, he believes that the conventional
test equation of the UIP hypothesis is plagued by omitted variable bias (Guender,
2014). As such he hypothesis there is an inverse relationship between the exchange
rate change and the lagged interest rate differential, and he also takes into account
variables that are typically omitted, but do have an impact on the model such
8. Return From The Inn
Part of the Permanent Collection at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Pieter
Brueghel the Younger s painting Return from the Inn made around 1620, illustrates
an outdoor winter landscape of rural peasant life in early seventeenth century
Belgium. Born in 1564 or 1565 in Brussels, Belgium, Pieter Brueghel the Younger
was a Flemish painter best known for being the oldest son of the famous sixteenth
century Netherlandish painter Pieter Brueghel the Elder and Mayken Coecke van
Aelstv (Artnet, 2016). Following the passing of both of his parents, Brueghel the
Younger and his siblings Marie and Jan went to live with their grandmother Mayken
Verhulst, a well established painter of watercolors. It was her who introduced
Brueghel the Younger to painting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first contact with the painting, my eyes were immediately drawn to the center of
the painting where a dominant figure of a man is highlighted not only by his large
size, but also by his bright red jacket which invokes a strong presence in the
painting. In contrast, the other peasant like characters wear muted, dark colors
while the child s clothing in the far bottom left of the painting is almost
indecipherable among the dark tree trunk. The use of the primary color red at the
center of the painting emphasizes a sense of tension, urgency and motion
(Herberholz, Herberholz, 2002, p. 29). However, I also observed the emanating
warm palette of colors associated with this Flemish renaissance era (Pastro, 2005, p.
51). The colors are cozy and reassuring. In truth, the blue sky, light ochre buildings
and the terracotta colored church, all covered with crisp white snow gives the
painting its arresting quality, presenting a peaceful winter country scene. Overall, the
painting presents a wide range of values and tones of colours. For instance, shades of
yellow and gray are strategically painted onto the snow to represent the shoe prints of
the characters. Interestingly, unlike his father, Pieter Brueghel the Youngerdepicted
detailed objects in the painting through the use of representational shapes. In these
artwork, the emphasis is on the realistic presentation of the subject matter. The
people, objects, or landscape look very real and may be considered an imitation of
nature (Herberholz, Herberholz, 2002c, p. 90). In fact, artists frequently use realistic
shapes in a two dimensional artwork to represent three dimensional object forms that
they see in the natural world (Herberholz, Herberholz, 2002b, p. 34). In addition, the
actions of the prominent figures give the painting a series of clear lines that are
sharp and even perhaps violent. In the book Artworks for
9. Shaman Leadership Style
Developing others must be a leader s goal for sustainability of their organization. A
leader can have many styles in developing others. These styles can be in many
different ways, which include shaman, priest, elected leader, missionary or mystic
healer (Manning Curtis, 2015). A leader with shaman style has power, energy and
commitment that motivate others. Leaders with a priest style create structure, order
and continuity and use hierarchy as teaching others. An elected leader style uses
their experiences to learn and teach to their followers. A missionary style has goal
oriented thoughts and teaches through personal conviction. A leader with mystic
healer style practices teaching by being sensitive and flexible with each individual.
Leaders develop their style over their career and eventually become comfortable
using one of these styles to develop others. Over my career, I have probably used
each of these styles to reach the employee to assist improving those individuals over
time. Early in my career I used the shaman style by having energy and commitment in

would be considered an elected leader style of developing others. By being over a

12. Jay Gatsby s Illusions in Fitzgerald’s American classic...
In life, what we perceive tends to show misconception in how the thought plays out.
A good example would be the character Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald s
American classic: The Great Gatsby. Gatsby was unable to distinguish between his
love for Daisy, a reality, versus the illusion that he could recapture her love by
establishing and inventing a fraudulent past. He believed he could repeat the past,
and acquire a flaunting wealth. In the novel, Jay Gatsbyseems incompetent in
establishing a difference between the realities of his life versus the illusion he made
out. Gatsby s more obvious illusion in the novel is his love he possess for Daisy
Buchanan and thinking he has the ability to draw her away from her husband. The fire

Following the war, Gatsby attempted to receive an education by studying at
Oxford. From this point on, Gatsby dedicates him self to gain the love of Daisy
back. He did this by acquiring millions of dollars, a gaudy mansion in West Egg,
and his extravagant parties. As the group of friends, Nick Caraway, Jay Gatsby,
Daisy Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, and Jordan Baker, travel into the city, Gatsby
and Daisy make their love for each other obvious. Daisy and Gatsby ride in a car,
separate from the group, to the city. Gatsby has the belief that Daisy is truly in
love with him, and not with her husband. Upon arrival to the hotel, the group
began sitting and conversing, when Gatsby tells Tom, She never loved you. This
is referring to Daisy and Tom s marriage. This is where a heated dispute begins and
Daisy finally explains to Gatsby that, Rich girls don t marry poor boys. Another
illusion that Gatsby holds is his conviction he can repeat the past. An example of
this would be the way Gatsby had acted after returning from the war. He acted as if
nothing had happened, and if he had not left. Gatsby states, Can t repeat the past,
why of course you can! Gatsby s illusion of repeating the past runs very closely
with his illusion of Daisy s love. Gatsby believes that it would be perfectly normal
and acceptable for Daisy to tell Tom that she had never loved him. He is completely
motivated and determined
13. Cover Letter Benefits
A cover letter is necessary and very helpful for employers when filtering through
multiple resumes. To an employer a cover letter is a bit of a preview as to what the
resume has to offer, while to a prospective employee, a cover letter is a foot in the
door. According to the Office of Career Services at Harvard University, A good way
to create a response producing cover letteris to highlight your skills or experiences
that are most applicable to the job or industry and to tailor the letter to the specific
organization you are applying to (16). It is one s first impression in black and

Ronald Takaki writes a very powerful introductory paragraph to show that people
need more education on culture diversity. Takaki describes his experience when he
was racially profiled by his taxi driver on his way to a hotel. He introduces his
setting as Virginia which according to the census bureau has a 70.2% white
population to show he is in a predominately white area. He also describes his driver
as a white man in his forties (539) to portray him as the average american .
Meanwhile Takaki gives no clue to the reader about his ethnicity or background so
we can interpret how his driver was stereotyping Takaki in the following
conversation: How long have you been in this country? he asked. All my life, I
replied, wincing. I was born
15. Hair Loss And Hair Thinning
Hair loss and hair thinning can be a major issue for both men and women. Our hair
serves as our crown every day, representing our style and personality. In women,
hair care is very important since the old days. Maintaining good hair is now a
growing trend in older women to avert negative image of aging.
Hair is a beautiful part of human biology. Did you know that the human scalp has
at least 100,000 hair follicles? The hair grows in an even rate by about half an inch
per month or six inches each year. The hair grows from the root or bottom of the
follicle, while the blood vessels nourish the root. Oil glands provide the necessary
chemicals to keep the hair shiny and soft. Every food or medication you have taken
recently may be reflected on your hair, the reason why chemical analysis of the
human hair is used as a diagnostic tool.
Hair loss does not automatically indicate a health problem. We lose about 50 to 100
hairs a day and that is perfectly normal. The indication of abnormal hair loss is
when your hair falls out in clumps, visual signs of thinning, and exposure of large
parts of your scalp. Some women can experience hair loss during menopause while
men suffer from baldness due to genetics. There are other factors that can cause hair
loss, such as diet, stress, and lifestyle habits.
1. Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss caused by genetics.
The condition can lead to baldness and hereditary thinning. About 80 million people
in the United States, both men and women, suffer from this type of hair loss.
2. Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes and lupus, may contribute to hair
loss. Alopecia areata or other autoimmune disorders cause the immune cells to attack
your own hair, leading to hair thinning and hair loss. Diabetes slows down the
process of hair growth and having the disease can make you vulnerable to alopecia
areata. Thyroid disorders like hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can also cause
hair to fall out.
3. Insufficient nutrition can disrupt the hair growth cycle. Certain deficiencies affect
the growth of hair cells, which slows down the cycle and results in unhealthy hair
texture. According to a hair and scalp specialist Dr. Lisa Caddy, eating a healthy and

Yuley is the chief, Brownie number one.

Cuddy
Almost every night, my parents would tell me to sit up straight when we were
eating at the dinner table, and they would say it would help me digest. Also, in high
school when I would walk through the halls between classes, many of my friends
would compliment me on my posture. I thought it was the strangest thing to
compliment someone on. The title Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are,
brought back these memories; therefore, I was interested to see what Amy Cuddy
had to say. Cuddy is a social psychologist and a business professor at Princeton. In
the TED Talk Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are, Amy Cuddy discusses the
reasons to use powerposing, and it could affect the mindfor better success in our lives.
Altogether, the discussion was well structured and it started with involvement from
the large crowd. Cuddy asks how they are sitting in their seats during the moment. We
re fascinated with body language, and we re particularly interested in other people s
body language (Cuddy). In short, we have judgements of other people s nonverbal
communication. When she said body language is communication and people can
judge for it, I do agree that it is communication to an extent, and not everyone notices
body language. For example, many children and teens may not care to acknowledge,
unless it was over exaggerated and distracting. She gave two great examples to
support her reasoning from research studies: Nalini Ambady, a researcher at Tufts
University, shows that when
18. Why the ratification of the constitution was a good thing
Why the ratification of the constitution was a good thing
The Constitution of the United States is one of the first written constitutions and one
of the oldest to have been made on the national level and applicable today. It was
developed and adopted by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in May and
September, 1787. The Constitution of 1787 followed the adoption of the Declaration
of Independence on July 4, 1776.
The U.S. Declaration of Independence, as the precaution of the U.S. Constitution, is a

All this together gives grounds to say that the adoption of the U.S. Constitution was a
historic event and played a major role in the development of democracy in the USA,
as well as throughout the world. According to one of its founding fathers and the
third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, The Constitution of the United States is the
result of adding the wisdom of our country .
The U.S. Constitution was the first constitution in the world, and for its time, it was
an outstanding document. For this reason, the subsequent constitutions could not
ignore the experience of the drafters of the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Constitution
(including the Bill of Rights) had great influence on modern policy documents: the
Declaration of Human and Civil Rights of 1789 and the Polish Constitution of 1791.
Despite the fact that Polish Constitution (which was the second constitution in world
history but lasted only a year) established a form of government as a constitutional
monarchy, the impact of the U.S. Constitution in this document was found.
Constitutions of Latin American countries that gained independence in the early XIX
century borrowed from the U.S. Constitution not only general principles but also the
state system (structure of executive authorities, in some cases the federal structure).
Almost all countries in Latin America are presidential republics. In some cases,
American lawyers were directly involved in the creation of the constitutions
19. Calpurnia In To Kill A Mockingbird
To begin with, I am characterizing Atticus Finch s courageous and caring
behaviors. First, Atticus is choosing to defend this black man named Tom
Robinson, which shows that Atticus is courageous. Any lawyer in Maycomb
would not even consider helping a black person in court, but Atticus does. That
shows that he is mentally separated from everybody else in Maycomb because he
is choosing to help a black man. In that time period, it was rare for a white person
to help a black person. Atticus knows that he has no chance to prove that Tom is not
guilty, but he helps him because he is courageous. His choices to help a black man
in a time of racism shows that he is courageous. It is also important because it shows
that Atticus is separated socially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Calpurnia is relevant to the Finch family. In chapter three she says, but you ain t
called on to contradict em at the table when they don t (Lee 32). That comment
confirms that Calpurnia is trying to teach Scout manners and to be polite to their
guests. That is important because it shows how Calpurnia is relevant to the Finch
family, if she would not have said anything, Walter would have thought that Scout
was even more rude than he already did. To illustrate my point, Aunt Alexandra is not
a better mother than Calpurnia because she does not teach the kids manners, she just
tells them what they are doing wrong in a mean way. Next, Calpurnia does not stress
out the Finch family, while Alexandra is best at stressing their family out without
even trying. She stressed out the family when she declared her opinion about
Calpurnia, we don t need her now (Lee 182). Therefore, Aunt Alexandra and the Finch
family are mentally separated, an example of them being mentally separated is that
Alexandra thinks Atticus does not need Calpurnia anymore because she is there. The
Finch family thinks that they need Calpurnia more than ever in this time of hardship.
What Aunt Alexandra said that about Calpurnia caused a great amount of stress and
fighting within the Finch family. All that stress that Aunt Alexandra causes proves
that she is not a better mom than Calpurnia. Finally, Calpurnia is a better mother then
Aunt Alexandra because she is strict. Aunt Alexandra cares way more about
appearances and she still is strict in a different way. In chapter fourteen, Atticus says,
If anything, she s been harder on them in some ways than a mother would have
been... she s never let them get away with anything (Lee 183). Her actions display the
importance of her strictness with the kids, but only because she wants the best that
she can provide for them. Aunt Alexandra on the other hand is

Medieval Universities
The appearance of universities was part of the same high medieval education boom.
Originally universities were institutions where students could attain specialized
instruction in advanced studies. These types of studies were not available in the
average cathedral schools. Advanced schools existed in the ancient world, but did not
promote a fixed curricula or award degrees. The term university originally meant a
corporation of guild. All universities were corporations of students or teachers.
Guilds were originally established to protect the interests and rights of the members.
The majority of the universities practiced diverse curriculum ( a few universities did

This is usually done by filling out a questionnaire. At this point in time, the student
has already endured a full term of a professor. If the professor is doing a horrible or
unfair job, the student is forced to endure this without any relief. Not only does this
affect the student s drive to learn, but also his ability to learn. Having a poor
professor hinders the student s learning capabilities. When this happens, the student
has usually forgotten most of what he learned by the end of the term. This makes a
total waste of time and money.
As for medieval times, the student guilds began to have enormous power during
the 13th century. Students could discharge professors that did not meet the
specifications of a good professor. The students only had to refuse to attend the
classes. Professors of this time also had to pledge allegiance to a guild. The guild
would provide the professor s salary. Professors were dependent to the students and
had to receive permission from the students for any changes. Holidays and beginning
and duration time of lectures were decided by the student guilds. With the passage of
time, guilds began to structure the curriculum, and the time duration of each subject.
A fine would be imposed if the professor omitted material or went over the
designated duration time of lectures. The student guilds were kept informed of a
professor s behavior and incompetence and would discipline the professor

The Sandwich Generation
After reading the article The Sandwich Generation: Who is Caring for you? by Ruth
Tarantine I have learned what the Sandwich Generation is and how to assist
individuals in this generation. The Sandwich Generation was originally used to
describe baby boomers that were women in their 30s and 40s who cared for their
parents and their own children. This term was coined by Dorothy Miller. As time
passed, the term changed to include both male and females and the age range is
now 40 to 65 years old. Almost 50% of adults 40 50 years old care for a parent and
child. Caring for a parent and child can stress a caregiver. Adding a chronic disease
to either parent or child can put additional stress on the caregiver. To help relieve
some of this stress a caregiver will seek outside help, such as hospitalization, which
in reality can do more harm than good for the caregiver. The caregiver will think that
having their parent hospitalized will relieve this stress, but instead this will cause
them to feel guilty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were plenty of options provided in the article but I decided to cover the ones
I believed would be most helpful to anyone. The first step you can take is to take
care of yourself. Many times when helping others we forget about ourselves. We
put things off to the side or don t pay attention to our own needs. We can forget to
eat right, sleep, get regular checkups, or even take a break. When you are
constantly taking care of someone you may go to a local fast food place because
you don t have time to cook a healthy meal. Some caregivers will turn to drugs or
alcohol to relieve stress. This can complicate their lives even more and make them
more irritable. All of these factors can add up and decrease your quality of

The methods of analysis are based on Kvale, Brinkmann, and Plas s (1996) theory.
There are five principal approaches of analysis, including condensation,
categorisation, and narrative, interpretation, and ad hoc. The reviewing method for
each question is going to be selected in line with the objectives of the questions.
4.3.1.Brand Awareness
Among the ten interviewees (see Table 4 1), merely one person can recall her
memory of a Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 s sponsor, Taiyen Culture Creative. The
other nine people have the difficulty in recollecting the memory of the sponsors.
Therefore, they require the assistance of the researcher to remind them of the
brand names of the sponsors. The issue of little recognition can affect the profit of
the sponsors and the brand image enhancement negatively based on the theory of
Aaker (1991). Furthermore, based on Aaker s (1991) theory, the reason of the
unawareness of Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 sponsors might be the failure of letting
the public realise the brands products and services. The occasion of unfamiliarity
and unrecognition happened to almost every interviewees except Interviewee J
because of her extended work experience and higher economic situation (see Table 4

people can recognise the brand name of BMW without difficulty, and knowing their
products and services clearly (See Table 4 2). Among the other four

24. Mafia Essay
The Mafia way of life may seem like a romantic updated version of the western
movie played out on the streets of the big cities where the good guys and the wise
guys who share the same instincts and values do battle before an enthralled public
but it is actually very different. The Mafia is really just a group of uneducated thugs
making moneyby victimizing the public. Initially, the Mafiawas setup as a prominent
supplier of bootlegged liquor, but it has spread into many different areas of crime.
During this research paper I will discuss three aspects of the Mafia which are crime,
structure and decline in leadership.

real Godfather, Boss of Bosses before he died in 1976, but if by a simple yes or no,
a nod or shake of the head, or a waggle of a finger one has the power of death over
anyone in his organizatoin. The Mafia is made up of thieves, and murderers who
are all greedy for money. On the flip side, the Mafia is based on respect. Each
member must respect and follow all orders give by a higher ranking member.
Although the make up of the Mob is based on respect, members usually kill their
way to the top. A Mafia family is headed by a boss who is in charge of everything,
he is the one who controls all of the power because in the Mafia the rule of law is
the rule of the despot. Each family has an underboss who mediates disputes and
advises the boss, as well as a number of captains. Under each captain are soldiers, the
lowest official Mafia member. The Italian Mafia is not the only organized crime
group around, there are many other ethnic groups the Mafia has to coexist with. Not
only is the mob facing new competition from Chinese gangs and Russian immigrants,
but it must also contend with the hungrier drug syndicates from Latin America and
the Caribbean, whose staggering wealth and firepower make the mob look quaint.

25. Apple Inc. Essay
Apple Inc.
I am going to start off by going into a little bit of history about apple and how it has
grown over the past 10 years or so, I am also going to talk about some new products
from Apple such as Apple TV and the iphone, as well as the name change, and the
new direction they have chosen to take with their marketing and what it has helped
them accomplish over the past couple of years.
Apple Inc. has come a long way from what it used to be. The computer market has
always been a PC based system being mainly pushed by the Microsoft software
platform. Apple Computers has been struggling to make it in the computer market for
a long time, going up against their competitor Microsoft who had a monopoly on the

This was just the start for Apple s new ideas and goals to penetrate the consumer
market.
All throughout the early 21st century the iPod has been the sought after mp3 product.
Everybody had to have one, and if you did, you were pretty cool. In 2004 Apple
joined up with U2 to help promote their new 20 gig ipod release. This was a great
example of apple s new marketing plan, going for the entertainment and media side of
the market.
Another side of Apple that really made the music industry happy was then they
started to sell songs on itunes for $1 a song. Music Pirating was a huge issue
throughout the early 21st century and Apple was on the for front of helping fix that.
In 2007 Apple introduced the iPhone and Apple TV, two revolutionary products that
is changing Television as well as the cell phone market as we know it.
Apple TV is setting a new standard for the viewing of media, it gives the consumer
the capability to wirelessly connect their computer to their television to stream
virtually any video, song or website on the internet through their TV. This is the
new are of wave of media technology allowing people to watch whatever they want
whenever they want without any regular scheduled programming. This is also a
major bonus for television marketers since they are able to tell exactly how many
views each show or video is being watched.
Onto the iPhone. When the iphone hit the market it was a must have item.
Everybody wanted one!

This quote references Bosnia, yet it does not reference the 1992 genocide. In fact,
the author of this quote died decades before General Josep Tito, decades before the
first rumblings of the fall Yugoslavia, and decades before the first atrocity was
committed. In his book, Love Thy Neighbor, Peter Maass includes this quote from
Nobel Prize winning Yugoslav author, IvoAndrić s novel, The Bridge over the
Drina, to reveal how the seemingly peaceful multicultural arrangement between
Muslims and Christians could devolve so quickly into unimaginable horrors. This
devolution is no new event, however. Andrić s passage describes how there had
always been concealed enmities and jealous and religious intolerance, coarseness
and cruelty yet they were restrained by the sense of order and relative economic
prosperity (Maass 11). Relative economic prosperity is why French Christians did
not commit genocide Algerian Muslims. Economic success is the glue that
tentatively binds together different cultures in Europe. As 20th century Europe has
seen before, when the economy fails and populist leaders are able to take power,
the bonds of civilization turn out to be surprisingly weak (Maass 15). We witness
the success of multiculturalism within Azouz Begag s book, The Shantytown Kid.
Begag did not have a silver spoon childhood, and experienced various hardships and
certainly racism on account of his Algerian heritage; however, despite Begag s

27. The Manila Metropolitan Are The Center Of Employment...
The Manila metropolitan area is known as the center of employment opportunities
here in the Philippines. Most of the Filipinos from different parts of the country are
taking their chances to move to the urban centers of Manila with high hopes of being
employed in opportunities associated with the modern economy, mostly services and
manufacturing. Some of them were lucky enough and landed in their dream jobs and
earned a living. However, the country s high rate of population growth has resulted to
large additions to the laborforce annually. This has aggravated an economy with a
high rate of unemployment and even higher underemployment. Indeed, the shortage
of employment opportunities has resulted in large scale migrations of Filipino
workers to other countries, both professionals and unskilled workers.
Determined to create jobs here at home and to ensure that Filipinos need not leave
their families to go abroad to work, former President Benigno Aquino III, issued a 22
point platform and policy implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE). President Aquino also wanted to ensure that the country s labor policies
were aligned with international treaties and international labor conventions to
effectively protect the rights of workers, especially those working abroad.
The goal of the previous administration was for investors to invest in our country s
top resource, our human resource, to make us more competitive and employable
while promoting industrial peace

The allure of precious metals and the shimmer of precious stones versus the
blandness of the essential concepts of life: food, water and shelter, can be a
difficult choice for some people. The hypothetical line between what is a need
versus a want splits society tenfold, and is a major problem in world civilization
today. The choices humans make on a daily basis determine the futures of
thousands, so what are the choices in life that are driven by needs and wants? The
choices that define needs and wants are greed, the desire to pursue wealth, and the
desire to protect one s self. Firstly, The Golden Touch , by Nathaniel Hawthorne

Zelizer. Zelizer explains the recent tragic Parkland school shooting and leans off
into liberal persuasion to Congress for stricter gun laws. Sometimes Congress
debates the gun control laws in different countries and how effective they have been,
and the outlook on homicides and mass shootings. Occasionally, Congress debates
legislative proposals to address the national gun problem. Some legislators point out
how effective regulations have been in other countries as well as in some states
(Zelizer 1). Clinton was one of the first presidents to successfully place through
regulations on guns. However, with one third of the United States population owning
guns, problems occurred. Clinton sent a letter to hunters urging them to support the
measure. As someone who had been hunting since he was twelve, Clinton wrote, I
know the difference between a firearm used for hunting and target shooting and a
weapon designed to kill people (Zelizer 4). Nevertheless, the gun control movement
finally passed through. Signed into law in September 1994, the legislation made it
illegal to manufacture, transfer or possess numerous categories of assault weapons
and established a ceiling on high capacity magazines (Zelizer 5). Even today in
2018, the gun control movement continues to grow with rising violence in the United
States. The positive news in 2018 is that there has been growing pressure from the
public for Congress to do something about guns. Polls show that a majority of the
country supports renewed restrictions on certain kinds of assault weapons. There are
also more states, such as Connecticut, with a proven track record showing that
regulations can work (Zelizer
29. The Seven Dimensions Of Aba
The Seven Dimensions of ABA Applied to Individuals with ASD The hallmarks of
autism spectrum disorder (ASD) involve marked deficits in social interaction as
well as engagement in repetitive behaviors and language difficulties (Leblanc,
Richardson, Warnie, 2005). Although autism can have a profound impact on the
capabilities and functioning of the individual, emerging research indicates that
applied behavioral analysis (ABA) can be an effective tool for addressing many of
the deficits that children with ASD face (Boutot Myles, 2016). In fact, emerging
research indicates that when ABA is utilized for the treatment of young children
with ASD many of the challenges faced by this group can be ameliorated (Boutot
Myles, 2016). With these issues in mind the current investigation considers the
seven elements of ABA identified by Baer, Wolf, and Risley (1968) in their
seminal article on applied behavioral analysis and their application to individuals
with ASD. Through a critical review of the seven elements of ABA in relation to
ASD it will be possible to illustrate how this approach can be effective for
improving outcomes for individuals diagnosed with autism. Application of the Seven
Elements The seven elements of ABA identified by Baer et al. (1968) include:
applied, behavioral, analytic, technological, conceptual, effective, and generality.
Cooper, Heron, and Heward (2007) provide a succinct review of each of the seven
elements. According to these authors, applied refers to

Robert Louis Stevenson was born on November 13th, 1850 to (father) Thomas

At the age of 17, he enrolled at Edinburgh University where he planned on studying
engineering. He instead took courses to study law, and passed all of them in 1875,
but he later abandoned this because he wanted to be a writer. His first published
work was an essay entitled Roads. Stevenson met his wife, Fanny, in 1876 after

Hastie Lanyon is an old friend of Henry Jekyll s and Gabriel Utterson s. He is also
a doctor, but just a medical doctor rather than a scientist. He was the one to break off
with Jekyll s friendship. Eventually he becomes ill and dies in less than a single
fortnight.
Social Context
Back in Victorian England, it was popular to send letters to one another like Jekyll
sent to Utterson in the novel. Also, by 1800, England was known as the center of
European suicide because of the amount of suicides occurring at that time, and this
seemed to some what influence the suicide of Henry Jekyll. This novel was also
written during the industrial revolution, so the science and technology influences are
noticeable throughout the story. The Victorian Era is also described as a time of
contradictions to some historians, and that is truly seen in the novel through the
contrasting Hyde and Jekyll, and also some of the character s personalities (see
Utterson in the character list). Gothic (possessing supernatural aspects in the
literature) writing was very avid back then. Edward Hyde is among some of the
most popular fictional characters of the era such as Sherlock Holmes and Dracula.

This work involves part of a complex real world logistical problem faced by a
company operating on public and private investments whose main objective is the
commercialization of its product in the domestic market.
The study s fundamental practical contribution is solving the real world problem
presented, allowing an improved supply chain through one of its two main activities,
the logistics, by combining strategic and tactical decisions. The real world problem is
the partitioning of customers into certain groups and planning visits to these
customers over a given time horizon (strategic decisions) and the construction of
efficient routes by which to visit the customers (tactical decisions). Theoretically, this
problem contains the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper summarizes the methodology for solving this problem, divided into
phases. Its main contribution is the model and solution of the second phase: the
problem of scheduling visits to customers. We have designed an experiment to
validate the proposed solution method using information drawn from the real world
problem and have adapted relevant instances from the literature.
The structure of the real world problem is as follows. The company has a set of
points of sale for a product that must be visited every month at a frequency
determined by its sales volume by one of the nine company trucks travelling from a
central depot to which they must return after their journey. Each customer must
always be visited by the same truck. Some customers are visited on the same day
by the same truck, as happens when at least one customer associated with a
headquarters customer is visited. There are four types of visit frequency, each
depending on the customer s sales volume: weekly (1 day per week, the same
always, for example on Tuesday), Biweekly (two visits per week, which must be
Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday), Bimonthly (2 times a month, first
and third week or second and fourth weeks, but always the same day of the week, for
example, always Monday) and Monthly (once a month). The trucks are available from
Monday to Friday. A month is considered to be 4 weeks with 20 days of delivery.
The length of the truck s stay with the customers is not constant and does not
32. Social Class In The Victorian Age
The books of Dickens have a place completely with the philanthropic development
of the Victorian Age, of which they are, in fact, in the circle of fiction, by a wide
margin an essential item and expression. He was from first to last a writer for a
reason. Dickens embarked to assault some particular mishandle or misuse existing
towards youngsters and ladies amid the Victorian period. Amid the Modern
Insurgency, the Victorian culture comprised of a hierarchical structure include the
privileged, trailed by the white collar class, the average workers and the ruined
underclass. These distinctive social classes could be recognized by disparities in
territories, for example, legislative issues, specialist, riches, training, culture,
working and living conditions. Individuals from the lower class were seen as
nonsensical, juvenile, superstitious, ruthless, exorbitantly sexual and tarnished.
Because of the feebleness of the lower class people, they were oppressed to misuse
and treatment like that of creatures. In light of destitution, kids were constrained
into youngster work and compelled to act as fireplace sweepers, and they could
slither up the twelve by fourteen inch stacks, some as little as seven inches square,
with the goal that they would get out the yearly standard of forty gallons of sediment
that was kept there. Some young men moved toward becoming rodent catchers, and
they were required to utilize arsenic to harm the rats. However, as this could be
costly, they could
33. Essay Comparing My Last Duchess And My Ex-Husband
My Last Duchess, written by Robert Browning, is simply about a male who was
not specially treasured by his, now dead, spouse. The parody of Browning s poem,
My Ex Husband, written by Gabriel Spera, is in a woman s point of view
pondering on a past relationship where she felt she was not properly respected. In
both poems, the speakers are reflecting on past relationship conflicts pertaining to the
importance they had in their spouse s lives. The speakers in My Last Duchess and
My Ex Husbandeach have different personalities and values, which prompts each
individual to react in different ways.
In Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the speaker is concerned with the rank of
importance he acquires in his wife s life. The speaker s personality comes off as
angry, self centered, and greatly annoyed. One time the speaker portrays these an
annoyed quality is when he stated as if she ranked my gift of a nine hundred years
old name with anybody s gift (Browning, 33 34). The speaker s spouse was brought
equal amounts of joy by marriage as she was by the little things in life. The speaker

speaker asks herself Who d lower herself to put up with shit Like that (Spera, 31

situation, divorce, shows how she cherished herself along with the well being of her
husband. Her husband was searching for happiness in alternative options, which his
wife could not give to him. For this reasons, the relationship was ended for the better

34. Examples Of Innocence In 12 Angry Men
A person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law . In the play, Twelve
Angry Men by Reginald Rose, a 19 year old is on trial for the murder of his father.
After many pieces of evidence were presented, the three that are in doubt include
the woman who wears glasses who lives across the street, the way the father was
stabbed with the knife, and the old man who lives down stairs, who owns two
canes. Based on these, the boy is not guilty. One piece of evidence that help to
prove his innocence is the woman who lives across the street and wears glasses.
The women who live across the street has testified against the boy, saying that she
saw him kill his father through the window of her apartment and the last two
windows of an El train. Now it was proved that you can see through windows of the
El train at night. However, the woman wears glasses, one of the jurors wears
glasses and he can t even see the clock that is in the same room as him. Now it
could be a chance that the woman is farsighted, but since it is known that no one
sleeps with their glasses on. Her testimony has been debunked since there was no
possible way she could have saw him kill his father all the way from across the street.

35. Milton Friedman And Milton Keynes
There have been different views from John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman and
central banks when it comes to inflation. However, what both John Maynard Keynes
and Milton Friedman can agree on is the fact that inflation is seen to be a great evil.
Moreover, the central banks interpret inflation as moderate being the fact that some
inflationis seen to them as tolerable. Historically, Friedman and Keynes have had
disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For instance, Friedman put
forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep interest
rates to stabilize an economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in
control of inflation by the amount of spending produced between goods and
services. Central banks have viewed both reasoning s to Keynes and Friedman s
theories and decided the monetary policy is the best route for an economy to take. A
great example of this can be illustrated in Canada with inflation rates only being kept
between 1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks might have to deal with
in other countries would be the change in political views and how much power the
government has over central banks to control cash flow throughout their respective
countries. The central banks must also avoid dealing with poor decisions made by
government leaders which could affect the economy tremendously. In many
underdeveloped countries, there have been a lot struggles even until present day
where government leaders

A famous part of the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare is the soliloquy in which
Hamlet himself proclaims, To be or not to be that is the question. Here the reader
sees Hamlet for the truly unstable and confused man he is. Also, the reader is able
to compare Shakespeare s version of the soliloquy to the production of it by actor
Kenneth Branagh. Seeing both the video clip and the text, allows the reader to
experience a deeper overall meaning than just one medium by itself. In the Folger s
edition of Hamlet, the soliloquyis in Act 3 Scene 1 where Claudius is realizing the
true threat that Hamlet is towards him. Hamlet is slipping into a state of haze
where the more he knows about other people s actions, the more he will think and

father and the presence of the ghost, wondering if it would be better for him to die
instead of continuing to go mad. He says, To die, To... Show more content on

Kenneth Branagh proclaims his lines while staring directly into a mirror. The
crazed look in his eyes as he debates whether it is better to live or to die,
exemplifies how unsteady Hamlet is. Furthermore, he intensifies the scene by

with death, knowing that stabbing himself with the dagger could cause him to die.
The viewer is able to see that Hamlet is not completely there and that he is
overtaken by his madness. Alone, the scene is very influential and lets the readers
see how the text plays out. Pairing the text with this scene gives an image of the
emotions Hamlet could have been feeling. It puts more into the overall presentation
of the soliloquy by making it more real life as if one was seeing it as a play. Every
actor chooses a different way to portray this scene but Kenneth Branagh decided to

Economic and Political Context Long before its enactment on September 13, 1994,
the foundation for the Violence Against Women Act was being constructed. More
than 140 years ago, members of the U.S. government were working to end the
injustice of violence against women when, in 1871, Alabama was the first state to
make it illegal for a man to beat his wife (U.S. Department of Justice, 2010). In 1967,
one of the first domestic violenceshelters in the country opened its doors in Maine;
and from that time until 1994, progress slowly but steadily continued. Within the next

When U.S. Attorney General Benjamin Civiletti formed the Department of Justice
Task Force on Family Violence, it was the first time the department had examined the
extent and effects of domestic violence in America. In the resulting report, the group
provided recommendations to improve the nation s law enforcement, criminal justice
and community response to offenses that, previously, were considered family matters
(U.S. Department of Justice, 2010). Soon after, the Family Violence Prevention
Services Act was passed by Congress, using the first federal monies explicitly
allocated for programs serving battered women and their children (U.S. Department
of Justice, 2010). The country was progressively changing the way Americans viewed
domestic and sexual violence by bringing it to the nation s attention.
In 1994, after a three year Senate Judiciary Committee investigation into the causes
and effects of violence against women, then Senator Joe Biden stated Through this
process, I have become convinced that violence against women reflects as much a
failure of our nation s collective moral imagination as is does the failure of our
nation s laws and regulations , adding that we are helpless to change the course of
this violence unless, and until, we achieve a national consensus that it deserves our

40. Simple Lab Report Essay
Objectives
There were several different objectives for this lab. It introduced the
thermomechanical properties of thermoplastics, and provide familiarity with dynamic
mechanical analysis (DMA) of thermoplastics. These DMA results were interpreted
using time temperature superposition (TTS) and the master curve as a design tool,
this could be used to determine the linear viscoelastic range and observe the creep
behaviour of high density polyethylene (HDPE). Gaining familiarity with dynamic
properties of HDPE was also intended for this lab.
Experimental Procedure
The material used for testing was HDPE. Two sample types were used, one
quenched in water and another cooled slowly at a rate of 1В°C per minute.
All testing was carried out using DMA with a cantilever setup. Two different tests
were carried out. For the first test, the HDPE was held at a constant temperature of
31В°C and varying stresses were applied for two seconds at a time, during which the
strain in the sample was recorded.
For the second test, a constant stress of 5MPa was applied while the temperature was
increased inside the furnace of the DMA setup. This was achieved by heating the
sample to one temperature for 10 minutes and holding at that temperature while the
constant stress was applied, then heating again and holding, and so on. Strain was
again recorded at constant time intervals for each temperature.

41. Analyzing Peter s Cognitive Dissonance Theory
No one enjoys being told what they are doing is wrong, and in this specific case that
they are stealing. Peter explains to Joanna that his business has been rounding certain
amounts to take fractions of a penny from compounded interests and then they placed
the dropped remainder in an account they own. By using the Cognitive Dissonance
Theory, I will analyze this artifact and incorporate how this theory is intertwined
within the conversation between the characters Joanna and Peter. I will show how
Peter uses selective exposure, post decision dissonance, and two of the three parts of
the state of the art revisions to reduce his dissonance. Cognitive Dissonance is a
distressing mental state caused by inconsistency between a person s two... Show more

Through Peter s arguments and reactions, we see how he incorporated many elements
within this theory: selective exposure, post decision dissonance, and two of the three
parts state of the art revisions. Dissonance is uncomfortable, but it is a part of
communication. Through this analysis, we can see how this theory is embedded
within the hilarious conversation between Peter and
42. Father Son Relationships In The Iliad
Throughout the Iliad , Father to son relationships is something that we see often
dthe during the story. This type of relationship is one that is extremely important
for many people in the world, going back to the beginning of time. Personally, my
relationship with my father has been one that has been one that has helped shape
me to the person that I am today. Without my father, I would not have someone
who is a mentor for me . There has been countless different things I have learned
from him and I know that I can go to him if I ever need help or advice from him. I
also would not have someone who serves in the other roles that he does as well. One
of the important father to son relationships that we come to learn about is the
relationship of Achilles with his father . We do not get to learn a little about this until

After Achilles kills hector he drags the body around on his chariot. Achilles does
this to mock Hector s body. In addition to Achilles doing this, many Achaeans also
defile the body by stabbing it multiple times. Despite this, Hector s body is still in
tact due to the Gods protecting his body , so that it would not get completely
ruined. The gods did this for Hector due to the amount of love that they had for
him. When all of this was happening Priam was watching over this. I could not
even imagine what he must have felt to see his own son being mocked the way
that he was. It made it even worse for Priam because Achilles had already killed all
of his other sons previous to this. That is why Priam begs Hector not to fight
Achilles. He knew that Hector was just simply not going to win against the
almighty Achilles who was half god. Death for Hector was inevitable from the
start. Priam and Achilles has a father and son type of moment after hector dies.
Priam begs Achilles to spare Hectors body and to give back to Troy, so that they can
have a proper funeral for him.
43. U.s National Debt And History
US national debt and history
The national debt of US is the amount owed by the federal government. In the past
decade, $12.7 trillion have been added to the US national debt and at the end of
fiscal year of 2016, the amount is expected to be approximately $22.4 trillion
including federal, state and local. Debt per citizen will be over $63.000 and debt per
taxpayer is about $163.000. The largest budget is medical care which is about $1.5
trillion and mostly introduced by Obama s administration and government policies.
The total US government debt was equally divided between federal and local debt at
the beginning of 20th century and it was less than 20% of GDP. While after the
First World War, the federal debt surged to 32% of GDP. Then,... Show more content

The Dissolution of the Soviet Union signaled the end of the Cold War and thus the
US government debt fell due to the decrease military budget as well as increased
taxes in 1990s. During last 2 decades, the US national debt started increasing again
which could attributed to the increasing spending on the war against global terror,
bail out the banks and the budget of the plan to recover the economy after the crisis
in 2008. And finally the US national debt reached 120.6% of GDP in 2014 and still
kept increasing till today.
The surge in national debt during Bush and Obama administrations
It is true that there was a surge in US national debt in past decade, the total federal
debt was reaching 105% of GDP in 2012 which is the historically highest level since
the Second World War. Although the crest existed in the president term of Obama,
however, the rise of debt started long before Obama took office in the While House.
In fact, after the national debt decline at the end of 20th century, it resumed
increasing with Bush s first budget in fiscal 2002. And later on in 2007, the rise
accelerated as the economy slid into the worst recession since the Great Depression.
From figure 1 we could clearly see that Figure 1
Obama did a much better job of limiting the deficit. On the other hand, Bush made it
went from about 58%
44. Strategic Therapy Essay
Systems Theories: Strategic Therapy Strategic Therapy or Strategic Family
Therapy is one of the oldest theories used in the practice of marriage and family
therapy today. It was developed by Don Jackson and others affiliated to the Palo
Alto group. Jay Haley and the Milan Group are also important practitioners of the
model Strategic Therapy. This theory is portrayed as focused on altering family
dynamics, eliminating problems and focusing on the presenting problems rather than
the past, and often giving homework and behavioral tasks to clients. In this essay is
a detailed description of the history of strategic therapy, beliefs, techniques and
problems presented by this theory. The strategic therapy is dated back to the early
1950s and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Targeting one goal and one problem at a time. Making therapy brief is also a belief
and some cases or sessions last no longer than 6 months. Another belief is that it is
okay for the therapist to push or bump the clients or family into interactional pattern
or relational pattern, which maintains their problem into a pattern, and allows the
family to divest themselves of the problem seem appropriate (Gardner, Burr,
Wiedower, 2006). The main belief that strategic therapy is based on is that there is a
strategy, a plan, a tactic, whatever the case maybe to help create change. A marriage
counselor may strive on the belief that love, faith, and hope can save a marriage in
chaos. Each therapist and family may have different beliefs but will strive for a
healthier change. How do they create change? Well there are many techniques or
intervention strategies that may be utilized. Reframing is a perfect example of
intervention involving a strategic approach to therapy. This technique involves
relabeling problems by viewing them in a more positive light (Parrott, 2003).
Reframing changes the meaning associated to the behavior without changing the
behavior. This changes viewpoints and alters the families systems. Boundary setting
and monitoring communication also helps to build trust and privacy. Family
sculpting is an intervention that involves asking a family member to physically
position herself or himself and other family members into a formation that
metaphorically
45. Occupational Safety And Health Act
The Occupational Safety and Health Act passed in 1970. This act signals an
important moment in occupational safety and health. Prior to 1970, the occupational
safety and health were unsatisfactory. In fact, many accidents occurred in the
workplace because of chemicals, dusts, and dangerous machines. There were many
hazards in the workplace that contributed to terrible injuries and fatalities.
Furthermore, in 1970 an estimated 14,000 workers were killed on the job. After the
Occupational Safety and HealthAct passed, the number of injuries have declined.
Previously, businesses were not concerned about hazards in the workplace The
Occupational Safety and Health Act is an important topic to address because it led
the way for occupational safety and health. I choose to research this law in a
greater depth because I found it interesting how this law changed how businesses
prepare to prevent occupational health and safety hazards. There were minimal
efforts to ensure workplace health and safety. When people were injured or died,
they were easily replaced. In fact, it was cheaper to replace a worker than to actual
implement safety measures. Furthermore, the tort law did not help the survivors of
dead workers or injured employees. Over the years, there were minimal
improvements. Eventually labor unions formed and public anger about poor
workplace safety grew which led to a reduction in employee worker accidents for
some time. After World War II, people were concerned about winning

47. Oresteia And Clytemnestra
The Oresteia and the character of Clytemnestra
The Oresteia is a trilogy of Greek tragedies written by Aeschylus. It was originally
performed at the Dionysia Festival in Athens where it won the first prize in 458 B.C.
The play wants to reveal the idea of justice. Men and women are in conflict. This
situation leads Clytemnestra to become not a wife and mother (which were the only
appropriate roles for respectable women in ancient Greece), but a tyrant. Clytemnestra
in ancient Greek, was the wife of Agamemnon. She is one of the main characters in
the play and I can say that it is the most interesting one. By interesting I don t mean
that is a likable character because she is considered a murderer but it is important to
analyze the reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad actions of Clytemnestra are immediately seen in a negative way but she,
at first, has avenged her daughter s murder. What the chorus thinks of her is that
she is an imposing figure, she is not noble and her information is unreliable. She is
kind of underestimated and misjudged. She is presented as the bad woman but it is
clear that the aim of Clytemnestra is taking her revenge. Aeschylus portrait of
Clytemnestra can be seen as negative and positive; on one hand she seeks justice for
her daughter, on the other she is completely incurable for the act of murder. She does
not hide from her actions, instead she freely admits her murder and embraces the
power and authority. It is through the inversion of traditional gender roles, adopting
masculine speech, behaviors and activities, that she achieves her revenge for the
sacrifice of Iphigenia. On one hand Clytemnestra s revenge may have been seen as an
upsetting act but on the other hand it let people (the audience) reflect on the
traditional gender role of women in society. The power of Clytemnestra can be also
seen through the chorus speech. It highlights her authority even if the chorus

As a student at the University of California, Riverside, I would like to bring to
your attention the printer at Glen Mor Computer Lab. This 2015 2016 school year
I have not been able to obtain the advantage of the printer convenient for myself as
an on campus resident living at Glen Mor. At least three times a day the printer
should be checked to assure there is enough paper and ink. Additionally, when the
printer is out of service it should be repaired no later than 24 hours. I am aware that
students are provided with a print quota of 200 pages each quarter at the computer
labs available on campus ( Printing ). The computer labs on campus is certainly
accessible when one is on campus, however, as a resident at Glen Mor paying

49. What Are Ranged Weapons In Medieval
Why Ranged Weapons were Essential in Medieval Combat Ever since the creation
of the bow and arrow armies have implemented the use of ranged weapons as a
staple of battles and wars. The ability to kill enemy soldiers without suffering
losses to your own troops was battle changing and was used to great effect during
battles in the Medieval ages. Common ranged weapons used by armies in the
Medieval ages were variations of the bow, throwing axes and crossbows. The
English in particular were very effective at utilizing groups of long bowmen to
decimate the enemy s troops. The long bow used by the English had a draw weight
of 150 to 200 pounds, which was the highest recorded draw weight for a bow during
this time, and required great strength to
50. Learning How to Write Effectively
Throughout this essay I have learned more than I have in my four years of high
school English. Being able to learn so much information in such a little time was
amazing to me. I learned different kind of rhetorical styles to write in, what each
ones purpose is, how to have online discussions with other peers and lastly I learned
how to improved my writingskills in general. A major lesson that I learned was to use
different rhetorical styles when writing to help make your papermake more sense and
seem more together. There are tons of different types of rhetorical styles that you
can add to a paper but the ones that I enjoyed using this semester were clear, swift or
sweet. I loved writing in a clear style because it was simple and did not... Show more

Throughout this semester I have had to learn how to have online discussions with
other classmates that I have never met. At first it was a little strange to me and I
did not like it too much. The more that I had to engage with other students the
more it became not only normal but the more I ended up liking it. I have always
liked to do things online at the comfort of your home instead of having to go
through traffic to do the same thing you could accomplish at home. It was hard at
first to get people to edit my papers, because no one knew names and would just
randomly pick a person. The more I edited other people s papers the more they
would return the favor and the easier it ended up being. In the end I really did
enjoy having online discussions about different essays and journals, you got to
really connect with some students and learn a little bit of their life. When I first
started out writing papers I was absolutely horrible at it. In high school I would
always get C s or D s on my papers, always struggling to pass the English classes.
Throughout this class I have learned to be more confident in my writing and not to
hold anything back, the more insight into backgrounds of people that were in your
story the more sense your paper would make and the more interesting they became. I
used to be scared to write about personal things, that I might be judged or
