2. Style sheet
I want to use a mix of blues and pinks which are socially seen as ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ colors and use
them to create the opposite effects- a gender neutral magazine. I think this is a great idea as
younger generations are starting to see gender in different ways and I want to reflect this in
my magazine. As well as this, in the other indie magazines I have studied, blue and purples
have been a recurring color palette and I want to stay true to this feature.
These were the recurring colors that appeared in the ‘alternative magazines’ that I analyzed-
they have a very retro feel which I think will appeal to my indie audience.
3. My style sheet and color palettes are based of the alternative magazines that I analyzed in my
initial plans I think they do a great job in helping me set the mood that I want in my final
magazine
6. Content
Content How You Could Get It
photographs Will take them myself with my DSLR camera
Fonts Will explore fonts from other classy magazines
Interview material Will interview my own people and conduct a series of
relevant questions
Articles Will conduct my own research and create a series of
relevant articles which relate to alternative teenagers
7. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Camera stops working because it’s faulty. Check it before hand and then use my phone
camera instead.
Person falls ill or can’t do the shoot for some
other other reason.
Contact models night before and if they’re
unavailable have a back up ‘model’.
Person who I want to interview falls ill. Contact them the night before and have a back up
interviewee if they’re unavailable. Have potential
interviewees on hand – making sure they are
relevant to my magazine and target audience.
Software issues (crashing etc.). Check the software before hand to see if there are
any visible faults – keep a memory stick with all
work backed up so I can work on another computer
if I need to.
Misplacing files (saving them in the wrong
place).
Back up all files on a memory stick- thoroughly
search the computer first.
Power cut . Regularly save your work to avoid loosing
important information as this can happen at any
time.
Running out of time. Use time outside college to complete work-
have a time plan which allows room for errors.
8. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Headache from looking at the computer for too
long.
Allow consecutive breaks to avoid eye strain.
Backache. Take a break if this starts to happen, start
walking around to avoid worsening the pain.
Wires being out. Tuck all the wires away to avoid tripping.
Bags in the way. Put bags in a safe position to avoid tripping over
them.
Spilling drinks on keyboard. Put open drinks in a safe position and put any
cans or bottles in your bag.
Editor's Notes
Explore colours and pixel art styles similar to what you want to produce. Discuss these elements in relation to why you chose them and where you may use them in your project. Go over as many pages as you need to.
Mock up of a potential design using the colours and sourced images. Alter this slide to make it appropriate for your planned product types. Use the content established in your style sheet to do this.
